[Q] [Solved] Unbrick after "Nand erase all" - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all.
I was having major crashes and issues with the latest two versions of the Samsung OS, so I decided to use CyanogenMod... Well, that didn't go too well; I had issues with the camera and Youtube apps which made them unusable (others weren't suitable either). I had a number of problems with how apps and the OS worked and couldn't find solutions to all of the problems, so I decided that I'd go back to the stock firmware, but from a few months ago before I had any issues.
So, as I've done before, I plugged the phone in, opened ODIN and selected the official ROM that I downloaded, started the thing and 10 minutes later, I was back on official firmware. But I kept getting "Google Play Services has crashed", along with a couple of other services occasionally crashing too. So, I tried stopping the Google Play Service and somehow made it worse.
Not only that, but it didn't seem to clear anything; all of my apps were still installed, all of my files were still there and I think that may have had something to do with the crashes.
I guess the above two issues were something to do with the fact that I went from CM on 4.4.4 and went back to Official on 4.4.2.
So without doing any research, I just decided to press "Nand erase all" and tried again, thinking that it might simply wipe the old OS and data. Now it's stuck at the SAMSUNG logo (starts just fine but stops after a second or two). So, I went to Google!
I found a few threads with similar issues, but I can't seem to find things that have a solution.
This one seems most helpful, but I can't find any "PIT" files, or anything of the like.

What would you experts suggest?
Thanks in advance.

Do you even read before you start messing with your phone?
All the errors you had could be solved by wiping properly in the recovery.
You can find the .pit file here.

I would suggest following the same steps as the member in the thread you posted.

Thank you. Unfortunately, no, I didn't read much. It seemed so simple; perhaps too simple.
I shall just try it now and see how it goes.
EDIT: Works perfectly now, thanks!

[Q] Galaxy tab factory setting modified

I have a Sprint tab.
And I have been using it normally.(meaning I only browse and play games with it)
After two days it runs out of battery, upon reboot it restored to when I have used it for like 30 minutes (downloaded a few apps and synced my gmail acc).
I didn't pay much attention to it until I restarted it again, guess what, it restored again, exactly like I have used for 30 minutes or so.
I thought there was something wrong with the setting so I used factory reset. However, it DIDN'T work, it still restores to the 30 minutes state, with my account synced and everything...
Lately I tried to flash it but it fails at the end.. with the msg "Complete(Write) operation failed."
Now I have problem booting the machine and it's verging on being a brick...can someone help out??
Need more info before anyone will be able to try and help you:
What ROM are you currently on?
What ROM are you trying to flash to?
Are you trying to flash with Odin or Hemidal?
How did you setup the flash (eg. re-partition or not etc)
What state is the Tab in now?

sry 4 not being clear...
To your questions:
I'm not sure what ROM because it keeps failing so I tried almost all ROMs, even GSM ones... I flashed with Odin with re-partition and now I just want to get it back to normal
I can use the tab right now but there're lots of errors coming up and if I try to reboot, it goes back to the 30 minutes state...
not sure that clarifies things or not...
In essence, I guess some of the contents are locked and can't be replaced by flashing
You should give this a try if you haven't already. A lot of progress has been made on the sprint ROM since you stated this thread.

I did and the problem persists.
I'm officially done with the tab and hope Samsung will repair it for me.
Sorry to dig up an old thread.
Long time lurker of the forums first time poster.
I bought the Sprint tab while over in the States for Christmas and it has been running fine since then.
But 2 weeks ago i started gettting multiple fc's and battery was draining very quickly.
Since then i have tried factory resets on multiple occasions and flashing quite a few different ROMS all to no avail.
Did you end up getting anywhere with this issue at all?
I live in Australia and it is going to be a PITA to get this fixed through warranty with Samsung.

[Q] sgh 1337 UN stuck on Samsung splash screen (safe strap broken)

So, I have gotten myself in a bit of a pickle I however think I can get out of it by sideloading using EXT. SD, Im not sure what to flash to solve the dillemma however. So this is the situation. I have a (had) a rooted Galaxy s4 (sgh-i337 ucufnc1) with 4.4.2 android. It had safestrap installed and back ups of everything else in sd card and other locations just in case. The phone was acting buggy, so I formatted the phone with safestrap, the problem persisted, ill get into the issue a bit further down. So I booted back into safestrap, and did a complete wipe, however my sd card must've bumped out, because it didnt delete any media files or so it said, and then after the wipe it crashed. and refuses to boot into safestrap or even past the splash logo. I can get into download mode, but usb debugging isnt on anymore since i wiped it, I can get into the other mode as well ( cant for the life of me remember the name of it atm although i use it frequently) with some luck. I also happen to have all .md5 files from a backup i did about 4 months ago in tact, I cannot for the life of me get them to convert properly to apply them to the phone without safestrap however, if anyone has any insight to this please let me know also.
I can/will list any other information I have if anyone needs it, and if anyone can help it would safe a life!
The reason i reformatted it to begin with, was because media would stall, and when i plugged in the audio jack it'd freeze the entire app using it, then the whole phone would freeze. I believe it was due to lucky patcher but im unsure. The issue began when I altered the auto update file, and even after i rectified it, it persisted. At this time i have a phone soft bricked because it didnt delete all the media files and I assume something bugged onto the kernel image but Im not sure. If I can simply try to restore it to stock kernel then im fine with that.

UPDATE: I resolved the issue, by rooting, safestrapping, ripping the image files, from another galaxy s4 with alike descriptions. then i managed to side load it, then it booted properly, i then reformatted it completely back to 100% factory everything. Now my original problem persists, and i cant help feel that google services is causing it. (examnples of issues" proccess.gapps has stopped. anotrher process error code. phone calls can be made, but not recieved as it seems the server is too busy to n otice it, massive battery drain, audio takes several seconds to play, while video continues to play fine, audiojack is mostly unresponsive, phone calls that are made cannot recieve or send audio during call session, phone may freeze at unlock screen, or any time during operation, may even reboot from process overloading" now keep in mind. i removed every system file and app that the natural reformat will allow. so nothing applied by the user is on the phone, other than natural factory applications. Im digging a bit into the phone as i can but its a slow process whenit starts freezing. if anyone has any idea of what can be causing this, or how to fix this please inform me lol.

The best solution must be installing the stock firmware via odin. Since you are on NC1 , You can installed the stock NB1.
Here is guide explaining you using odin, installing NB1, root with towel root, updated NC1, install the safestrap. The guide was not specifically written for that but you can find those steps in the guide.
I will attempt to do this, since nothing since has work. I am about to get a new logic board for the system in the next 2 weeks. Towel root DOES typically work on this system, however the last time I attmpted it it failed to work outright. Im not sure what has changed with the device, but i believe reflashing stock is the best method. The phone now, will boot up, then skip the lock screen and go straight to the home screen, which is black with no pull down bar, or with no signal and there is no way to rectify it. Even if there were, it boots back down and launches back up and becomes locked at the ATT logo.
After a fair bit of messing with it, and recovery mode it will sometimes boot normally where it tells me that processes has failed and askes me to cancel the ''app''. This is the best option to update the phone and attempt root, but getting it here is so difficult because it reboots itself and the mode is rare to acquire. This problem either is due to the kernel, or the rom i believe. I also am to believe the powercell may have some issue, as i replaced the battery a few weeks back and it worked fine for about 1 week.
Booting into safemode doesnt work either as it skips over the lock screen straight to the home screen. Outsidce of replacing the logic board, or attempting another flash im at the end of the short rope i was already on in terms of options.

UPDATE: I found therein two methods to flashback to stock. I did so, then proceeded to attempt to flash from nb1 to nj4. Progress stopped there when it flung an error 7 at me. So this means either something in my phone is corrupted or the file i downloaded from the above mentioned forum is corrupted. I also attempted flashfire, but seen as it STILL crashes at random due to process errors thats almost impossible to attempt.

Accidentally soft-bricked moto g4 plus xt1644

If this has been answered somewhere in this forum I apologize and please direct me to the answer. Back when I got my phone in march I rooted my phone using one of the guides on this discussion page so I could have open wifi tethering. While I did have some hiccups not the least of which being soft-bricking my phone and having to flash what I thought was a stock rom but ended up being a android 7.0 rom that seemed to work fine on my phone. Learning my lesson I made a backup right then and there of the stock install as well as two afterwords once I got everything set up the way I wanted. Flash forward to today my phone is bugging me for a seemingly benign system update and after ignoring it all day I dumbly install it without thinking. Now no matter what I do booting my phone only takes me to the TWRP recovery menu. I have tried running all of my backups and nothing is working. Of course because this has been a couple months the image I used is gone so I can't use that. Would that even work, wtf did I do. Let me know if anyone has an answer I will be eternally grateful
Ok problem solved.... after whiping my phone several times I attempted an install of cypherOS. and well.... it worked. I think I'll stick to this . Just let this post die I guess... I am going to set my alarm and go to bed I am very tired and have work in the morning

Need help. Boot loop on J320P that was a friends.

Hey everybody, I need help. I have a J320P that is stuck in a boot loop, when it was found like this by my friend they came to me and asked if I could help. I have no information on how this happened other than they took a shower and when they came back it was like this. I have tried installing stock firmware 3 times to no luck. I might have an sd card somewhere with the backup for this phone but finding it would take some time so in the mean time I am turning to the forums. If anyone could help that would be amazing. I will provide more information and answer questions as they come.
Steps I have taken:
1. dirty flash of stock latest firmware
1. wiping the phone completely
2. Installing latest stock firmware
3. Still bootlooped
Not solved
So after triple wiping through TWRP and installing the stock firmware again it was still looping so i left to run to the store quickly and when I returned I tried powering it on and it loaded normally and I am still setting it back up.
Leaving the original comment. After coming home from work my friend said it had started doing it again, and it is. This time there was no root and no system anything messed with, does this mean there is a hardware problem?

ROM installation TWRP problem <SOLVED>

Posting this because I spent 2 days trying to get my phone back up and running after I changed some system setting that caused an endless bootloop. Marking is solved as the issue is solved and maybe it will show in the searches.
I followed the instructions on the guides i found on this site. I had all sorts of problems. ROM not installing, TWRP not sticking, TWPR not flashing modules, error messages all along the way. I have flashed this phone several times already without issues, other than the 1st run.
I stumbled across a random post on an Xiomi forum somewhere where the guy was having similar issues. The solution was DON"T use "the latest version" of TWRP.
All the guides insist you use the latest version. That's what I was doing to TWO days. I went back about 3 versions and BOOM, phone was set up, flashed OOS 10.3.3, Magisk flashed, new kernel flashed, xxxNoLimits flashed and everything working in under an hour.
This may have been specific to my Tmobile, international conversion, but I doubt it as I was already running OOS 10.3.3. Nowhere on this site, at least from the searches I did could I find this suggestion that turned out to be my solution so I am posting in hopes it might help someone else and save the frustration I went through.
For those that are going to post search results that didn't show up when I searched( which seems to happen when you say you couldn't find something here).....cool....the extra info may help someone.
Thanks for posting! I've been having issues flashing Xtended! The phone shuts off right in the middle of the boot animation. Fastboot recovering to oos worked fine though.
Is that similar to what you experienced?
