I noticed some merchants have the Tab 2 7.0 price dropping below $199...
(as shown on Google Shopping search results)
Is this because a new one(Tab 3 7.0) is coming out
or is this in response to Nexus 7? Or both?

Nexus 7. This device just came out, so no way Samsung would throw in the towel and scrap it already.

nevermind... I was wrong... can't seem to find any Tab 2 7.0
being discounted at all... are are still the same price as before.
(at least at the normal reputable retailers)
Question already answered...
Microcenter had them for $199.99 (P3113). I picked one up last Saturday. Now I can't find even one at any location.
Yeah, I picked up this tablet at Microcenter. I was actually very fortunate, because I went to Fry's first and they didn't have it. So I called Microcenter and they happened to be selling it on $199 and they had 180ish in stock. I love the tablet very much and my father seemed as well, so I went and got him another one two weeks later. They only had a few in stock though.
I don't think they are going down in price. Microcenter was the only well-known store I saw selling it on a discount ,and it was only because it's on sale right now Actually the sale seems to have extended another two weeks, but it seems to be selling regular price everywhere else. There are other places under Google>Shopping selling it for cheaper too, but it depends on if you feel comfortable shopping somewhere without much of a reputation...
Microcenter will discount things other retailers won't for short periods of time. Usually you have to be in the right place, at the right time, or be willing to take a chance and drive to one quickly when you here they have a special. Store stock on their web site means little as they can sell 50 in an hour if it hits the net that one store "has stock" of whatever specials they offer.
I like the fact that Tab 2 has an SD slot, but with the ability to use an OTB USB cable with the 7, this becomes less of an issue.
My Tab 2 died yesterday. It will be on it's way back to Samsung for repair. Let's see how this goes...If I had it to do all over again, I would have skipped the Tab 2 for the 7 even if they were the same price.
For folks who live near Expo Electronics in New Jersey.... I bought two from them for $205+tax last week. $5 more than MicroCenter's $199, but I don't have any MicroCenters near me.
Hey all, I am a current iPad user (not by choice, it was a gift) and have been looking to venture into the android tablet world as I am biased since I've gotten my Droid X2 about a year and a half ago. I've successfully rooted/rom'd and SBF'd my X2 many times and I am currently running CM7 and have been for some time. I plan on running Revolution HD rom once the tablet arrives...
Anyways, I bought a Groupon deal shown here http://www.groupon.com/abilene/deals/gg-asus-transformer-tablet-tf101-x1-with-dock-refurb and, unlike myself, I did not do any research on pricing of this package via eBay or Amazon before I purchased it. It's a factory refurb unit with a keyboard dock. I ended up paying somewhere around $307 for it and should be getting it in a a week or two. After checking eBay (after my purchase) I am finding the similar setup (used, obviously) for anywhere between $20-80 less than what I paid. Did I get ripped? It does come with a 90 day factory warranty due to the refurb but is that worth the extra money that I paid? What are these really going for right now? I know it's not a top of the line unit since it's been out for a little while but still...I guess I am just looking to see everyone else' opinions on if I overpaid. Thanks!
-David
Well you didn't really get ripped off, since the dock itself cost around $100+ or so. The bundle is a pretty nice deal. You could have saved some money like around $50 or so, if you looked around on craigslist, swappa.com or ebay. I've seen the tablet plus dock bundle going for around $250 or so.
One thing is for sure though, you DID NOT get ripped off. You just paid a tiny bit extra. Ripped off is like paying full retail, like around $400 to $500.
Thanks for that. I'm sure the 90 day warranty has a little bit of value as well so that has to mean something towards the extra money put out. Anyways, I'm looking forward to getting it. I've already got the files ready to go for rooting/flashing the rom.
I just bought a used one from swappa.com with the keyboard dock for $250. No you didn't get ripped off. I almost used the groupon deal, but I figured I was fine with a used model.
When I bought my tablet/dock almost a year ago I paid close to $600 after taxes, so I think you did ok.
I paid $432 at the beginning of the year because I was impatient and wanted a new tablet NOW. I should've waited. You got a good deal. I didn't even get a dock, but I did get a 32gb model.
Like others have said, you did not get ripped off. IMO $50 extra for a factory refurbished unit with 3 months warranty over a second hand unit from eBay is a pretty good deal, especially with the keyboard dock.
However, personally I don’t find the KB dock all that useful for the things I do, and if you bought the whole package just because it was bundled (but don’t really need the KB dock) then you could’ve gotten a never Tegra 3 based tablet (refurbished or used) for the same price or a little more.
yea... you kinda got ripped for that. Easily can get a tf300 for around that price with a dock.

Hey guys, glad to finally be on the forum (I've spent a loooong time reading but never posting ).
Here's my issue: Recently I bought a Galaxy S2X with Koodo on a tab plan, and so far I am loving the phone. However, recent news of the Nexus 4 has gotten my attention. Koodo has a 14-day money back guarantee on all their phones, and I bought the phone on Sunday past (the 28th) so I still have some time to return it. My question is, is the Nexus 4 a better phone? Because I can buy the S2X outright from Koodo for $300, and the Nexus is similarly priced. Is it worth returning the Galaxy, being phoneless for two weeks, and then getting the Nexus? I know nobody has had hands on experience, so it's gonna be hard to tell. I wish I could wait for some reviews to pop up about the Nexus 4, but I can't wait that long, a phone is essential (obviously).
What do you guys think?
Cheers, Tristan.
You can watch reviews of the optimus g, as they have the same screen, without the buttons, and spec sheet.
If your into androud development, have a phone to use during the 2 week wait, liker being on the latest android version, and don't like the touchwiz overlay do it because it is a beast.
If you're happy using your s2x, and like the way it is keep it, its a good phone too, and the 2 weeks without a phone would be horrible. If you want the $299 one it will have 8gb of storage, so if your used to the 16gb and expandable storage in the s2x don't.
I also own S II X from Telus myself. I am getting Nexus 4 for one of my family members to replace HD2 I guess it all depends your need and price you pay for it. No doubt Nexus 4 ' s price is very attractive. However I think S II X for 300 is also a good price.
If you do not mind the none-removable battery and no sd slot then you will love Nexus 4 no doubt. I currently have 2 spare batteries that I use in rotation for my S II X because android phones do drain quite fast and I want to save time connecting charger to my phone directly because phone has to be connected while charging. I am on the move alot. I also like having large collection of videos and music on my phone even though I can take advatange of true unlimited data plan to use cloud storage. ( I used over 10 gb last month, no throtlling and no cap).
I just gotta have battery option and sd card slot but its just me. It may not matter for you.
So I guess it's all up to your preference.
Thanks guys. I think I'll probably return the S2x and wait for the nexus, it looks snazzy and also Jelly bean looks good too.
I recently bought a HTC One X quad. am i'm returning it and waiting for the Nexus 4. I wondered why Google don't make micro sd slot and/or add 32 GB? I would certainly pay more for it.

My only possible thought is maybe it was an agreement with LG. After all, the Nexus 4, for the price, is superior in many ways, so there has to be SOME incentive to get the optimus G. That's my two cents!
Just wondering what you all got rid of or traded in to get your n10.
I was just about to pull the trigger on an Asus Infinity but decided to go with the n10.

Didn't have to sell anything.. This will be my first tablet. I just bought the Nexus 10 on Sunday, Hopefully I get it soon with no problems, because many people seem to have issues with it. How is yours?
I sold this (minus the 500GB HDD and 8GB flash drive) for $183; the 500GB HDD for $60, and a 3TB HDD for $130, a Radeon HD 5570 GPU for $50, and some other money from somewhere else (I forget) to buy a Nexus 4 originally, but since I also had enough for a Nexus 10 at the time, and the Nexus 4 was out of stock, and since I realized I couldn't keep up with a monthly phone plan most likely, and that I wanted a bigger screen for gaming purposes, and the Nexus 10 has better specs, I decided to go with the Nexus 10
TLDR: I sold a Nexus 7 + other stuff and decided to get a Nexus 10 with the funds I got
I returned an infinity and waited for this. Soooo much happier with nexus 10.

I was just about to buy an infinity but after reading the forum nightmare stories I decided to go with the n10. I used it a bit and it was nice but laggy web browsing and other minor issues.

I sold my iPad 3 to purchase this. Literally sold the iPad for $450 and bought this for $400. And good riddance to that toy. I bought the iPad when it was hands down the best tablet available. Now with the Nexus 10, I feel like the Nexus beats it in every single category. The screen is more beautiful, its thinner, lighter, easier to hold and grip, a more capable OS. It feels more polished and I can't wait to start romming it once the roms start to come out of Alpha/Beta releases Gotta love devs, always making devices more incredible as the months go on.
I've made the jump from an iPad1 and am stunned by the improvements in screen and performance.
Sold my Xoom WiFi 32gb model after getting the Nexus 10 and configuring the homescreens near the same. Sold it to a friend who is replacing his wife's Kindle Fire with the Xoom.
Sold my Acer A500 32GB and got the N10 16GB (don't need the extra storage). Couldn't be happier.
Sold my Gtab 10.1 and got an Infinity (it's crap), returned it for an iPad 3, returned it for a Note 10.1 (nice tablet), and finally returned it for the N10.
BestBuy Premier Silver let me leave a string of open box discounts in my wake since July to get to this tablet. I love it, but have to warranty swap it due to a WiFi issue.

Returned my Note 10.1 for the Infinity. Exchanged the Infinity more than a couple times. Returned the infinity the day the N10 was officially announced.
Didn't sell anything but going to give the gf my iPad 3. Its a nice device for what it is but the whole ios ecosystem is just boring to me. I don't know how people are saying the nexus 10 has a better screen....the iPad can be brighter, represents colors better and has much better viewing angles. Hardware wise that's the only thing I'm going to miss and it's certainly not enough to hold on to it.
sold my n7 didn't want to because it was a great device and fine form factor but couldn't justify having both on my budget with the holidays coming up.
Sold my Nexus 7. Couldn't be happier and I couldn't ever see myself going back to a 7" tablet.
Also sold my N7. Too small for my aging eyes.
Actually I won an Asus Transformer Pad 300 from Android Police, and sold that unopened to get the N10. Right now I'm trying to sell the Acer a500 I was using before my nexus 10 got here.

New AND old.
I'm coming back after leaving for 6p.
I gave away my old n6, but at this price, I'm definitely coming back and returning the 6p.
Aaaaaaand I picked up one also.
At this price it is awesome as insurance in case I brick/drop/loose mine.
I just picked up a 64gb for $259 on amazon because I bought my 32gb a couple weeks ago for $350.

Yup! You beat me to it! lol. I just came here to post.
64GB is $259.99! Both Midnight Blue and Cloud White!
Just picked a 64 up. Been an HTC supporter for years, but curious to try Nexus. I'll play with it and really can't lose. If I hate it, I'll return it to Amazon, and if I love it, I can sell my M9 for more than I paid for the Nexus.
I really wanted the 6P for awhile, but quality issues according to the xda forum, and not trusting Huawei yet kept me from taking the plunge.
I have never had a pure Android phone, although I've run AOSP and Cyanogen Roms on my various HTC devices. I'm scared I'm going to want to keep both...D'oh!

Going to be a lot of pissed off people that bought one very recently. It kind of sucks when this happens for people that paid full price, but that is life! Although, if you can still return it... I'm not going to lie, if in the past 30 days I paid $399 for a 64gb Nexus 6, I would order another RIGHT NOW and then return my original for refund. Yup, I'm that guy. That's $150... If it was $50 or less I wouldn't waste my time but $150 and a shiny new, dust free speakers. Hell yeah.
I can't complain, I bought a 32GB blue 2 months ago for $300, then when I sent it in to Motorola I got them to send me a 64GB White instead. (Long story)
Just ordered a 64 gb white for 259.
They are selling out fast! As of right now, only 64gb Blue is in stock for the sale by Amazon.
All gone.
I picked a 64gb up in midnight blue. Can't wait as this is my first Nexus phone.
Must be sold out for now. Kind of pissed I am paying $20/mo to project fi for mine, and still owe $400.

How come you're returning the 6p, if you don't mind me asking.
The 64GB version is still around 550-600 USD in the EU on Amazon
Just bought a one month old blue 64GB model for 360 USD, sick and tired of the Huawei EMUI on the Mate 7 though the batterylife was awesome.

I have the 6P, returning it as I got in on this deal and managed to score a few for friends and family.
For me, my Nexus 6P cost just under $900 cdn for the 128 gb model. Switching to the Nexus 6 64 gb, my phone is now only about $340 cdn funds so that is my main reasoning for the switch. Looking forward to getting mine!

Not sure yet as I haven't owned a Nexus 6 yet, just the 6P. The 6P was a great phone, really snappy and feels great in the hand, I will let you know when I get the 6
