Hi,
I have the latest Stock Rom rooted and am trying to access the internal SD card to transfer a Titanium backup folder to my PC. When I plug in the USB and hit MTP, all I get is the internal storage, rather than the SD card where everything is backed up. How can I access the internal SD on my PC?

Unless you have a korean modem, internal sd card, internal storage and sdcard0 is the same thing.
Otherwise it might be a mount/format problem.

I have a US phone. I believe it's actually accessing the internal SD, but not the internal storage. I can't access any data.

Well there's like 3 or 4 US phones, which one is it?

Then you don't have an SD, just the internal flash memory. What do you mean you can't access it? Is all you see blank? Have you tried the camera connection? Do you have all the necessary drivers installed? How about a screenshot or maybe actually detailing your problem, so far it took 4 posts to get your model, I wonder how many will be necessary to describe it at the very least.

I don't believe it is possible. I have seen where on some devices people have moved programs onto external storage.
This might help:

My milestone 2 a953 gets the insufficient memory error even if storage shows 6.5 gb free. Using xplore app, I see there is nothing in internal sd I can not even copy files to it. I suspect I must have messed up the partitions somehow. Everything works except that I can not access or use the internal sd. I can only install up to 2gb of files before I get out of memory. Is there a way to reflash the partitions? Tia.
reflash your rom or system nand. that will rebuild the partition table. did you try to use your sd in a pc to check if it works? did you format your sd to check if thats the problem? did you try to mount your sd in your recovery, to check if that will work?

thanks for your reply. yes my external sd card works in all the suggestions you mentioned. my problem is with my internal sd. it does not show up in my explorer programs. i can only install apps up to 2 gb before it says i got insufficient memory. i could not even download anything to the internal sd. i can only use the external sd for it. when i remove my external sd card, the camera does not save pics to internal sd it says i need to put in an external sd card to take photos. all custom roms i flashed give me the same result. is there a specific sbf file i need to flash that will rebuild the partition table?

When you say "internal sd", do you mean the /data partition? Because the MS2 can't use the internal memory for user data like a regular (or an internal, for this matter) sd card.
In this case, it seems to me like a rom issue. Since the moto defy has only 2gb on it's /data partition, and most of the milestone 2's development derives from the defy, it would make sense. Which rom are you in currently?

Yes I mean the /data partition. I am currently using aokp. Does that mean I am unable to use the 6.5gb free space of my internal memory.

I would ask in the rom thread, maybe the dev can help you out.
Thank you.
So I thought when we used adoptable storage in MM it was going to create and extent to the internal memory, but it looks like only apps can go there. Cant put photos/vids/downloads etc. Am I doing something wrong?

Yea do "migrate data" downloads and stuff actually go to your SD card once you use adaptive storage.
When your sd card is full you can move apps to internal storage. That's what I found so far.
Oh I see, until you actually migrate the data, the storage doesn't show as usable

New android version Marshmallow has a feature to use microSD card as internal storage.
When Marshmallow detects a microSD card for the first time it asks to chose Portable or Internal storage mode.
If you choose "Use as portable storage" you will use it as before. You can save your photos, videos, some applications or their data,
backup/restore your phone, etc. and you can see your files if you take it out of your phone and connect to another device or PC, as usual.
But if you choose "Use as internal storage" and click "ERASE&FORMAT" button at next screen,
then your microSD card will be formatted as ext4 and encrypted. You will loose everything in your microSD card and it will
become your only internal storage. Now, If you take it out of your phone and connect to another device or PC, it will not possible to see your files
since it is encrypted. Your microSD is usable only with your phone.
Than, what is the advantage of using microSD card as internal storage?
If your phone's real internal storage very small (ex: 4gb) and you have trouble installing new apps then you may put a 32 GB microSD card and use it as internal storage. Then your internal storage will be 32 GB (Not total of 36GB).
It will act as your phone's internal storage.
Disadvantages?
microSD card used as internal storage is useless out of your phone since it is encrypted. You can not use it taking out of your phone and putting into another device to transfer your photos, music files, zipped ROM files etc.
It will not be visible as external storage anymore.
Phone's real internal storage is not visible.
So,
If your phone's real internal storage is not too small and especially if you want to use your external storage as usual, there is no need to use a microSD card as internal storage.

But its still encrypted, so that won't help I guess. Also once you flash your phone or something, the contents won't be available anymore I think. It's just a guess though, I don't know how it is decrypted and all.

It seems to be not possible out of your phone by anyway since it is encrypted.
I don't not know whether it is possible to extract encryption key from phone and decrypt the files using this key but this shouldn't be possible because of security reasons.
No one desires access to the important files in the sd card if it is captured by any one else.

Hello, Now I don't really know what's going on cause i'm going crazy with this phone, eveytime I inserted sd card it asked the partition card and internal sd card and when I chose the external ones I have no idea why it doesn't read my sd card like for example I wanna transfer my file via airdroid or wanna restore an app via Titanium backup or play an NDS game it just read only the internal storage even though it shows on ES file explore (I tried the internal ones and it format my SD card, and S did put all the files back in place but it didn't help, the es file explore in photo was before I put my files back, by the way), my phone just doesn't read my sd card, it's like it just work as a one way storage, when I was using a Sony, this doesn't happens what so ever.
Does anyone knows how to fix this problem of mine, please help me. I took some pictures to make proves :crying::crying:
I'm terribly sorry for my English, English is not my primary language.

In titanium backup, open the preferences menu then choose backup folder location. Choose Storage provider (click to change). Then pick DocumentProvider storage, select the SD card on the left menu then press Select at the bottom right corner
go to settings>>storage>>click on external sdcard>>top corner 3dots>>settings>> format
then move media to sdcard.
Your SD card is showing in the file manager. You've 32gb sd card right? "FD89-1CE6" is your sd card. For titanium backup you need go to TB settings and set the backup directory to SD CARD ( FD89-1CE6)

Yeah, Thank you very much, i just did it last night, kinda having trouble with the superSU at first though, I tried to patched Titanium Backup on lucky patcher and it kept saying that I need to root my device, so i had to reflash superSU again. Thank god it went through. Now I having trouble with the internal SD card, I couldn't get it my play store to install app to my sd card or to re-direct my app to read file in my Sd card, for example I installed Chaos ring 3, I had to move all the file from my sd card to internal, it's knilling my internal storage TT^TT . Does anyone have a solution for that, please let me know.... I think everybody have the same problem though, does anyone know how to fix this solution? :crying::crying:

In Android 6.0, once you format ur external sd card as internal it becomes a part of ur internal memory and functions as internal one(the external SD card won't show up in file managers). Hence the phone decides where your app is installed either the real internal memory or the now formatted SD card working as internal memory.
If you don't format it as internal memory. The apps won't install on external SD card and you can't move the apps to external SD card.

No you can't coz the data on your sd card will be encripted n you won't be able to read it on your computer via card reader. I'd suggest you to keep your sd card as "portable device" if you want to transfer data via card reader.
