Z3C rom for Z1C ? - Xperia Z1 Compact General

What you think, is it possible?

I'm not a dev but I will enjoy having it on my Z1C
Sent from my D5503 using XDA Free mobile app

You're our main dev for Z1C, anything would become possible if you contribute in it

Of course it's possible. It might even be easy because the manifacturer of the phones is the same and they have a really similar hardware. In order to port Z3C ROM to our Z1C we have to:
1 Extract system from Z3C FTF.
2 Deodex it (advisable).
3 Edit build.prop so that it matches our proprieties.
4 Replace their kernel and modules with ours.
5 Replace their system/lib/hw and system/lib/egl with ours.
If we are lucky enough we'll get a booting ROM, otherwise we'll have to debug it.
At the moment I think to have neither the time nor the experience to do it, but maybe I can help.
I wish good luck to everyone who tries to port it! :victory:

Anybody here have colected diferencie in hardware between Z1C and Z3C ? Only I have found is procesor is diferent (new model), not searched for other things. What is diferent there?

Agree with 1,2,3,4 but about 5. I am not sure. Why egl and hw? Is not video card and sensors the same?

About egl I'm not sure: their gpu is an Adreno 330 but is clocked at a higher frequency. If I'm not wrong, hw directory also contains libraries that rely on the processor that is not the same.

Z3 Compact Russian ROM is available for download....

Hm, you are right, we will need to replace gralloc and other things, probably cam libs will not work too, and allso probably sensors too since diferent digitizer... etc.
Maybe we can port some smalis at least. Anybody know what is new feature in z3c rom which not exist on z1c?

ps4 remote play
ultra stamina mode
stereo speakers
tap to wake
noob question but couldn't we just use the porting method for z1 roms ?

I've heard the z1 compact don't have this module for tab 2 wake like the normal z1. That's why there's till now no tab 2 wake feature.. I miss this feature so much..
Apps like gravity are great but not the same..

Pardon me for diverting the topic but could anyone port One Plus One's CM11S for our beloved Z1c? pretty please

Tab2wake is a feature (from lg) :
When screen is off you just tab onto the display and the screen goes on. (No button needed.. )
That's why it calls Tab2wake

Anybody have idea do we have kernel events from touch screen while device screen is off? If we have events than thats an easy thing making tap2wake trought kernel module
I trying now to make feature "disable pc usb charging" and I have done userspace program for that but need to make chech box preference in settings menu which will execute userspace program every time when usb is connected | disconnected, need help to finish them! I have no idea what is a name of function in smali for checking for usb connection? Anybody have idea? Here is userspace program which will disable/enable charging when pc usb is connected/disconnected, my whole idea is to make userspace program executed every time when usb is connected (one time executed) or disconnected (one time executed). Need help locating smali where I can put call to userspace program! The rest is easy (check box preference ...etc).

this was from sonys press release
Tune in with an audio powerhouse
The mobile music experience just got re-invented. Sony’s rich audio expertise comes through in every beat with incredible High-Resolution Audio, so you can hear every track just as the artist intended when using Hi-Res Audio headphones such as Sony’s new MDR-1A range. For those tracks that aren’t in Hi-Res quality, Sony’s ground-breaking DSEE HX technology – available now for the first time in our Z3 series – ‘upscales’ the fidelity of your MP3 or AAC music collection as well as your playlists on Sony’s cloud-based digital music service, Music Unlimited8, to near High-Resolution quality.
To enjoy your favourite music without interruption, the Xperia Z3 series brings Sony’s Digital Noise Cancelling technology to the smartphone. Ambient noise is reduced by up to 98% when paired with the MDR-NC31EM Digital Noise Cancelling headset – perfect for that busy commute or tuning out the background in a noisy office.
The front-facing stereo speakers with S-Force Front Surround™ play everything loud and crystal clear for those moments when you want to set your sounds free.
tap to wake was ported to z1 with kernel mods link bellow. i think i read somewhere that the z1 compact screen wont be able to use this feature
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699803
also i tested z3 setting on my phone i seen a option for Intelligent backlight (the screen stays on while you are looking at it

The touchscreen from z 1 compact does not support the hardware-side wake-up gesture mode. Z1 and z ultra do support it. That's our problem.

Considering that most of the new features in Z3c rely on different hardware - stupid question: what is the point of porting the ROM to Z1c?

as far as i know there is no Answering system works with wm2003
so i think the problem regarding the answering machine has been solved in WM5 but there is no individual application to enable answering system on other wm5 phone edition PPC's like Prophet, is there any answering program like the one used in i-teq?
please introduce it if you any.
here is screen shot of i-teq bond
lover - this is a specific software and hardware solution provided by Gigabyte. It's not a generic WM5 solution.
Have a read around the board on why that might be the case.

so i think this is a software which is in ROM and there is no hardware added, ithink so.
it would be great if some one get that software from the original ROM.

lover: I'm inclined to disagree. I've tried the app on the Magician, Universal and Mio A701. No joy.
The attached, ripped from the ROM, may require other associated files, but I've tried the whole ROM in its complete form. It appears to be non English, so I may be reading it wrong, but let me know if you have any luck.

than you very much but
it didnt work on my JAMin., does any one knows which company is the developer of this software?
Maybe I'm missing something here, but can someone enlighten me as to why you would want an answering machine on your phone when your mobile phone carrier already supplies you with that service? Just want to make sure I'm not missing out on any features here.
i dun think its just a software api that does this answering machine..
most likely to be a hardware inside the phone that is not present in other phones.
It is just a software!
There is a rom (2.03 Beta TofClock Himalaya) and it has this answering machine...
bepe: I think that's specific to the Himalaya. Because of the way the modem works on PocketPC phones, not all (in fact, it seems, very few) have the audio path accessible by the device itself for two way recording.
Have a read through here. If you've had any sucess, please post:

To pay $ 18.95 for an app that you can do for FREE? I've reported about a long ago (it's REALLY worth following my blog ) - I'd certainly prefer it to this one.

Just my two cents...
I don't think the software won't work on any device other than g-Smart range, it's to do with the hardware of the phone, not WM5. Without this hardware I believe it is impossible to record both sides of the conversation without some massive application, which will probably (a) slow the ppc right down, as will need to be integrated into the OS, and (b) not be that cheap either.
Regards.
just a quick qn.. if i want to try on my hermes, how to i 'install' it?
do i need to tweak any registry settings?
thanks
that would be a great app i think!! i'm on pay as you go and orange charge 10p per min to retieve voicemail!! would be super if the phone itself took over and saved an mp3 or something to the memory card!!! no charges!!
come on!!! some make or find it!!!

Audio Booster missing from T-Mobile US Branded Phones?

I have a T-Mobile US Branded TP2 and have been having a few issues with the sound quality when listening to music on wired headphones.
Maybe it’s just me, but I have found the playback quality of MP3s over my Sennheiser headphones to be, well, lacking. It’s not the media or the headphones – they sound great on my old iPod – it’s definitely an EQ issue in the phone. Initially, there was a near total absence of top-end treble. As others have described in the forum, the overall sound is somewhat bass-laden and "muddy". I applied the audiopara3.csv trick detailed in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550784 and this did help somewhat. Not a huge change, but some of the top end is certainly restored.
Other posts talked about the HTC Audio Booster utility and guess what? T-Mobile had this pulled from their ROM build; it’s mentioned in the “official” (unbranded) Touch Pro 2 Manual on HTC’s website, but is not is T-Mobile’s version of the same manual. And it’s not on the phone either.
So here’s my request: would someone be kind enough to post the Audio Booster cab for Rhodium? I looked all over the forums and was unable to find it.
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks, but this is not the application I was looking for (think this just boosts the bass). HTC released an Equalizer app known as the Audio Booster which seems to ship with most new phones other than the T-Mobile branded TP2. This is actually tweaks the hardware in the phone rather than running a CPU intensive software EQ. Here's a screen shot of what is looks like:

You run it... the leave it open and open Skype. All audio is then routed through the earpiece. You speak like you would on a normal phone.
Running skype alone without this would mean needing to use BT headphones or the headset or sound comes from the loudspeaker... THis app is extremely useful if you use Skype!!
i have the same problem on HD2, this sounds like a solution, i will try it. thanks for the file. otherwise i might just use the headset came with it.
chimpsinties,
Is this your GPRS Monitor capable of showing GSM RF related parameters like Field Test? Where did you download it? Is it capable of Monitoring UMTS too?
and a few more things with Skype:
#1
I have S2S lock and I like it as many times I forget to lock my phone, but it kicks during a Skype call and kills audio... dont want to disable S2S, nor want to put my phone on charger.
There is a option in Skype's Menu/Setting, namely "Prevent device stand-by mode when online". Changing this parameter does not seem to make any difference...
#2
How can I get Skype to remember my password? However I dont want Skype to start up automatically
#3
auto change between landscape and portrait modes based on G-sensor is possible somehow?
thanks!

The GPRS traffic monitor has the following options that are not configurable. You can select between what's there but you can't add more yourself. I guess it auto detects what's available cos when I had the TMobile shim in it knew to look for that connection instead. This is just a trial version but does what I need it so I've not looked into what the pro version gets you.

You just select the connections you want to monitor and what your limit is, when your billing date is.
Then it lets you know how much you've used that day/month/total etc

"- Using the Xperia as a controller"
Is already the target of this thread and I think it's not a hard job!
You won't even need a screen on the app ,, for example you launch the app
a black background is on screen and controllers shown on ,, Just that's it !
It just need the mapping thing
"- Bind the L2 / R2 keys to the music volume buttons"
That's an Awesome idea !
Thanks alot !
Will Post it into the Original Thread
Thanks again
Let's not forget the L3 and R3 buttons....
Sent from my Samsung Fascinate, bro.
Would it not be bluetooth as thats what the exsisting controllers use?
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
A quick double tap on the touch pads could be l3/r3, maybe use the screen for l2/r2 if you need a certain sensitivity?
I cant see why this cant be done as i have a nokia n900 which you can use the touchscreen as a pad and have the keyboard working aswell so you can bind some of the keys to the keyboard to make it easier. with most of the button in your hand anyway maybe l3 and r3 which dont get used much could be placed on the touchscreen.

actually ,, I never knew which kind of connection is between the controller and the receiver
At all , Wireless connection will be better ,, if we want the app to be extended ,, to be like more than a controller
Such as Broadcasting the PS3's screen to the Xperia play
But at first it's better to be bluetooth and then will think about wifi and broadcasting
Thanks for the point

Waiting For Developers To Put This on their wishlist !
Or even start working on it from now
Well, you don;t have to wait idle. You could start searching for info to help any dev that might read this on his way. What sort of data the PS3 needs from the controller, a guide on how to code for the touchpad (since only a few devs know how to do that atm, intel is at SE developpers site).

I know my friend
I have been searching yesterday for this ,, but unfortunately I didn't find anything :|
The Nokia N900 can control the PS3 via a Remote Emulator
I guess we may need help from an experienced Symbian Developers so they may figure out which type of Data is sent from the phone to act like a controller
Any Experienced Symbian Developer here to help ??
Once Root is available, BlueputDroid should make Xperia play work as a Controller.
Not sure if this is useful or not, but I found that the PS3 uses the L2CAP bluetooth profile, and if i remember correctly android doesnt support this by default, so thats something to consider I guess.
Seriously though, this would be a fantastic application to have, and I hope a smart dev sees this thread

Maybe if we request the mapping from the BlueputDroid owner ??
Already posted a request in the official thread

Great ! Thank You
here is the link for the Official App Thread
I am very confident that this is already possible if not then very soon.
Anyone that has a PSP knows about remote play. Sony even said it will expand it to cellphones.
Remoteplay is exactly what you said above. Over wifi it uses the PSP screen as a monitor and the buttons as controls.
You can even remote play to a PC.
I will look into this more but I think one of the sony cellphones can already do this.

FAQ:
What is Harmoforia Engine?
It's the evolution Engine of Project Desire, it combines the best of The old Vibeuforium Engine and the old Harmonia Engine, it up-gain Sounds which are down-gained, it restore beats which are Silenced by MP3 Compression, it let the DAC give 99.99% of their Power and it Makes Sound very clear
Together with DSEE-HX it can Restore Also the High Frequency nuances and give also the best sound experience
What is the Fortunend Engine?
It's a backend pre processor who corrects the mistakes which DSEE-HX had maybe done with restructuring the frequencies that trebble goes finer and bass deeper

Hi,
thank you very much for this mod.
Am I doing something wrong on my Z1 5.1.1, the sound is way too loud and completely distorted on speaker. Even on lowest volume.
I also did a clean install with same effect.
What can I change in Mixer_path to make it better? Most of my changes in speaker section had no success so far.
Best regards
ftomek
PDesire, please restore the quallity of the mod to the V37V.L..U. The bass and quallity in that version is the best! Now the sound is very distorted.
I am coming from the PD Two.
If I understand you well, the App has no need when I flash this ROM, right?

OK, then I will have to do some cleaning on my phone or reinstall à Backup.
Since Project Two my main speaker is cracking even at a low level. And via Bluetooth à little bit too.
Also when doing Phone call, the sound is weird and only coming out from my right earpiece...

The sound via Bluetooth is not clear the music crippling even in very low volume please fix it and thanks in advance.
I'm back.
I have reinstalled a clean backup, then flash your ROM... unfortunately, I still have the same issue...
The sound via the loudspeaker is way too loud so the sound is cracking even at a low volume.
I have then made some tests:
Install your Soundmod on a clean ROM and Loudspeaker problem
Install the "White Sound Enhancement" Mod on a clean ROM and no problem
Install your ROM over the White Sound Enhancement... and the problem appears
Install again the White Sound Enhancement over your Soundmod, and the sound became better, but still a bit too cracky
I am now back on my clean ROM so my loudspeaker don't get broken and I will wait for an update. But no rush, take your time!

I am not a specialist on that, but yes, I think it is linked to the SRS, because on project one, when I disabled the SRS on your app, almost everything was fine.
Thanks anyway for the great work!
I have an echo on calls (the other person hears himself at about half the loudness of my voice) when using the PDesire mod. Can somebody tell me if it is also the case with this secession?
