No mobile data connection after flashing firmware from here - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i had to flash to stock cause my phone was stuck in a loop. Found a firmware from here for AT&T version and now my mobile data is not working at all. Did a factory reset again and nothing. I am only getting data through wifi.

Nevermind, all fixed now. My APN settings got wiped with the flash. Found the settings here and good to go. Love XDA

Yes, in the most cases the data connection problem comes from the APN settings

Thank you man, after the flash i also noticed a few apps not working like before. Fingerprint security and UPMS manager for the Ultra power saving app are not working like before. Don't know if it has to do with the firmware?

I'm not familiar with these apps so I have no idea.
I doubt that their data has been wiped due to flashing new firmware. Try to open these app and check with their settings menu.

Those are great apps try them

Galaxy S Apps stuck @ Starting download forever

I got my new Galaxy S one month back. I have no problems with any other functionality but Android Market. I can browse apps, but when I click install each get stuck at "Starting download..." screen, and never starts or fails. I had kept it for 3 days and still the same. Market / Google Apps / Download Manager clear cache / data does not help even. Phone restart also does not help.
So far the solution is do a factory reset and lose all current apps, then install 5 to 6 apps again. Then the same story begins. No more apps can be downloaded. Stuck @ "Starting download...".
"Samsung Apps" application works fine.
I also have tried all following firmware and problem persists.
I9000DXJE7
I9000DXJF4
I9000XWJFF
I9000XWJG1
I9000XWJG3
I9000XXJE2

just start google talk, logout and login. than the download should start.
Had same issue, solved by setting up APN. That wasn't done automatically ...

[Q] 4.2 - location service is off

I upgraded to 4.2 today OTA. One problem I see: My Google Now weather card won't work. Instead, says "Location service is off". But I have turned everything on. Any ideas? Nothing unusual in setup. Stock, unrooted. Apex loader. I am stumped.
Thanks!

This won't help you but same happens on some 4.2 AOSP based ROMs. If i were you i'd try to flash Bigxie's 4.2 odexed stock ROM without wiping data (only cache and dalvik-cache). You'll need CWMR or TWRP recovery for this.
Mine said that as well, I just selected the card and it took me to the figure location access screen and made me then it on again. After that everything works fine. Did you force stop Google framework to force the update? I believe this is what caused it for me.

Thanks Ryan this fixed mine. I too forced the update. Tried thanking you but can't find the button.:good:
Thanks, all! I see what I goofed. I went to the screen, but went to the settings and overlooked turning it on up top.

Backup all important data and do a factory reset. This will restore some important hidden system files that could be corrupt. It should fix all your problems. I had a similar issue for awhile. It may also be beneficial to look into reflashing MJ7/MJE tar depending on what version if factory reset doesn't fix it.

Do a factory reset before flashing, you can find the option in Settings > Security. It's different from reflashing a tar.

Can't update to Nougat

Hi guys, i Just bought the Nexus 6p, so Nexus Noob here, I downloaded and installed all the security updates month by month and all went well until I got the 7.1.1 update
The phone download 1.2 GB then when I tapped restart and install, the countdown for install started and when it finished it just said your phone is up to date, then when I tapped check it again said there's a 1.2 GB update for Nougat and started to download it from scratch
I did this three times and even wiped cache partition in between but it was just the same
I appreciate any help
Thank you
Update: I did a factory reset and now it just says my phone is up to date, It won't even show the 7.1.1 update to install anymore.
Download the 7.1.1 OTA image from Google, then sideload it using adb from recovery.

That's great to hear. I wonder if it pulled the downloaded OTA during the reset somehow and flashed it... Either way, glad it worked!
I got a question? I am rooted, running dirty unicorns and have received the 7.1.1 update notification. Obviously I don't want to update as it'll probably brick or take root from away. How does one get rid of the ota notification?

Did you try clearing the system cache? That's generally a good idea after a major OTA.
---------- Post added at 01:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:57 AM ----------
You can also try clearing the app data for your browser and see if that helps but I would clear system cache first.

Oh dam it doesn't do it automatically for me lucky
Update: I finally solved the problem, the issue was that the automatic settings had one mistake, some random proxy was set when it should haven been empty and I somehow manage to missed it when checking, I just removed the proxy and the browsers and Gmail app started to work, Thank you guys

Random reboots. Up to 15 a day

My Mi A1 keeps rebooting every half hour or so. There is no specific app or process that I can point a finger to. It just freezes momentarily and reboots. It's extremely frustrating. Has anyone experienced this with the phone? I have not rooted or anything. I think the issue is more so after the September security patch.

I haven't experienced this. You should backup your data and factory reset. If the issue persists you should contact the seller for a replacement.

Hi, I managed to isolate the problem to a specific SIM card in a specific location. As per my understanding, this is something to do with corrupt packets of data being transmitted via your network provider through a specific site (or several sites), which causes a reboot of your device. To isolate the problem do the following:
1. Switch off any one SIM card from Settings > Sim Cards
2. Monitor your phone for issues.
3. If the issue is replicated, switch on the SIM card switched off in '1' above and switch off the other SIM.
4. Monitor your phone for issues.
This should be able to identify the corrupt SIM. At this point, I permanently switched off the trouble SIM while at work (which was where the reboots kept occurring) and the phone started working normally without any reboots. I would switch on the trouble SIM in other areas and it did not cause any issues. A week later, I decided to do a SIM replacement on the trouble SIM, and this has managed to reduce the number of reboots to once a week, which I can live with.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for this. But still "not working" . I disabled Chrome and updated Android webview. But I want to use Chrome for the internet, since my account is linked to everything. Anytips?

So I cleaned and reflashed everything with MiFlash. 2 days now, still no problems, I'll keep here updated if any thing shows up.
Another problem is that I still didn't get Feb security patch. Tried everything! Did a factory reset, became beta tester of play services and cleared framework data and cache but still nothing! But

Guess I'll have to go with that, unfortunately.
I wanted to keep my bootloader locked so I don't see that annoying message of unlocked bootloader.
I finally got Feb update patch but I'm still having reboot problems.
Starting to think I have a defective phone since this problem was solved in almost every case I saw =(
