I find it frustrating that the facebook panel doesn't provide chat, opera doesn't support facebook chat via the website. I'm just curious to know what facebook chat programs you guys are using.
Palringo has support for Facebook chat.
Facebook doesn't provide a public API for Facebook chat quite yet. What people have done is reverse engineer something and are using it to enable Facebook chat functionality. I'm sure Sony Ericsson wasn't interested in all that work.
there is an app here to do so: FacebookIM
Thanks guys

I looked into it initially I didn't want to instal NET CF 3.5 but i went ahead and made the jump.
Facebook Chat for Xperia X1
i know this one is old, but just to keep it updated for searching users..
the software is now called FIM (Facebook Instant Messenger) and no longer requires updates to the .net framework that comes with the xperia (2.0)
free download of fim available at http://www.mosko.mobi
Palringo with Facebook support really is the best to me because you don't have to rely on a single app just for FB chat - it's built into a multi-protocol IM client which you would have a good reason to already have running in the background. Why run another program?
Hi All
I want to create the facebook chat application like the following one
But I don't know how to do that because I am new to android development please any one help me how to do that
Are you wanting to create a standalone application for facebook chat or a chat application similar to facebook chat?
If you are wanting to create a standalone facebook chat application you will need to look into whether facebook have a chat api you can access.
If they do, start by writing a super simple android app that connects to facebook chat and retrieves some kind of data.
And go from there.
Hi athornz
I have using smack api for facebook chat but it doesn't connect to the facebook server .It always producing the error connection is not available
Have you added permission for internet access into your android manifest?
It's quite an easy one to miss and will mean you app can't get any internet access.
Recently WeChat introduced Ask me as an official account, a local search engine. You can avail the latest offers, daily deals, Pubs, Restaurants. All you need to do is subscribe Askme official account on Wechat.
You can get a lot of info about your nearest location on one click on your Smartphone.
Pretty good deal WeChat has got itself into!
Hey guys.
First things first. I'm not the developer of any of these projects. I just found them and wanted to share them with anyone else who also recently started to use Telegram instead of Whatsapp.
If you're on Windows or OS X, you can check out their native apps in beta phase here - http://tdesktop.com/. I haven't used either of them yet, but they are in extremely active development, as new updates were added just today.
If you want to try the web client, I can vouch for it working extremely well. I use it on Linux on Chrome and it works wonderfully well. It even does Chrome notifications for new messages, and supports everything from group chats, media messaging, changing profile images, selective notifications, the whole deal. http://zhukov.github.io/webogram
Remember, all this stuff is in testing phase, but in my opinion, Telegram is in a position to make a serious change in IMing because of it's open source API strategy as opposed to Whatsapp's "phone phone phone only" system.
Enjoy!
needs a bbm client asap if it wants to really take off.
just one bbm user in a large group will affect it's likeliness to become the main messaging app for the whole group.
I would like to use this app but I can't get anyone off sms. ?

Only 1 of my friends is using it compared to 23 on WhatsApp, will keep it anyway for a bit to see if anyone else in my contact list starts to use it.
Btw. Ubuntu app is now available!
Telegram has been my favorite messaging app for months. Still trying to convert all my friends.
Telegram app has niche market for users keen to message encryption.
I noticed another app just mimic the same layout but using exactly same api, called messenger plus. (previously called telegram +). Not sure why's the different. Same phone number, allowed you to install the 2 apps....

Free, large file sharing, uncompressed image sharing, desktop/web/tablet apps and able to use on more than 1 device, Facebook owns WhatsApp, etc.
Hi all,
My online retail bussiness involves forwarding dress collection pictures to customer whatsapp group. I do have a Instagram page for my bussiness, in which I post the same content as WhatsApp group. I do many posting in a day and trying to automate my work by auto posting in Instagram from WhatsApp group content.
Requirement :
- At a regular interval my android app to scan my WhatsApp group content for any new messages since last scan and forward those to my Instagram page in background.
I am not an android developer and will be outsourcing a developer to create a new app. Would like to hear your opinion if this is possible to implement and if not other option to avoid manual posting in Instagram.
Thanks a lot
Sri
