Failed Rom installation. Bootloader Locked. adb unavailable. - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello
so I wanted to get my nexus 4 to complete stock mode and failed in the process.
I followed a guide that was posted on here and
1. locked the bootloader
2. put 3 files (rom, recovery, boot animation?) into the phone and went to flash them
3. rom installation failed but I went and installed recovery and boot
now the phone is stuck at google booting screen and wont go past it. bootloader gives me dead android with triangle and I can't get into adb because it says device is offline.
can anyone tell me a way to fix this?

Unlock the bootloader and flash the factory image in fastboot

Softbrick?, stuck in fastboot

Hello,
I was attempting to update from 4.3 SlimBean to 4.4 SlimKat Weekly.
I booted into CWM Recovery, wiped system, cache, dalvik cache etc, and went to flash the rom.
The rom must have been corrupt or something, as I was unable to and received an error.
I rebooted and was stuck in fastboot.
From here, I've tried both Wug's Nexus Root toolkit, and the Skip Root toolkit.
Running the return to stock and unroot whilst in fastboot in either of them caused a crash of fastboot.exe and the Skip Root equivalent.
After a reboot Wug's allowed me to atleast run the program, but I received link errors, so tried again. This time it couldn't find it, unplug, replug. Link errors, cant find it and this repeated.
Skip also allowed me to after reboot, but gave the exact same faults.
That's as far as I've really got. I occasionaly get it to run, and it seems to work only for it to get part way in, sometimes after sending the bootloader, or on the bootloader and it can not find any devices.
For some extra info, this is Running Windows 8.1, using a USB 3.0 Front panel header and tried using default cable, samsung and kindle ones too.
I'm looking for any ideas? Worst case scenario is I can try when I'm back home at the weekend and there I have a PC with XP that I have used previously to fix this style of boot error.
Cheers,
WiiManic
Stop using toolkits, issues love to pop up for those who do
Make sure bootloader is still unlocked
If not
fastboot oem unlock
Flash latest twrp or cwm or whatever, just download the image and open cmd in this location
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Now boot to new recovery
Go to advanced
Adb sideload
On PC go to ROM of choice, maybe slimbean
adb sideload nameofrom.zip
When complete
adb sideload nameofgappsoranythingelseneeded.zip
Reboot

[Q] Can only boot into recovery without menu

Hi there,
i bought a used nexus 7 (2012/1st gen) which only boots into recovery (cwm v6.0.2.3) but doesn't show the menu. Only the cwm logo in the center and the version at the bottom left. (see picture attached)
I can't boot into fastboot (Vol Down+Power). This only leads to recovery again. But as mentioned above there's no content, no menu.
The previous owner told me he tried to flash Cyanogenmod 11 which failed and since then it is stuck in this behaviour.
I'm on ubuntu 14.04 and installed android-tools-fastboot and android-tools-adb.
With adb i can get a shell on the device in recovery mode but don't know what to do from there.
"adb reboot bootloader" doesn't work, the device is not responding
Can anyone help or am i doomed?
Update: I downloaded latest TWPR for "grouper" (2.7.1.1) and tried
" adb shell flash_image recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-grouper.img "
which lead to
" failed with error: -1 "
on step futher...
Update:
I was able to get into the bootloader with this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53587109&postcount=74
(thx acotica)
Now i am trying to flash the stock rom of the nexus 7 (https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=de)
But i am not able to flash the bootloader. The version now is 4.18 and i can neither downgrade or upgrade. fastboot always gives me an error and won't proceed since it would need the bootloader to be 4.23
any help?
Flashing the stock image didn't work as expected.
Bootloader not working anymore
The device is now stuck at the google splash screen with the little open lock below.
I can't enter fastboot anymore, Power+Vol Down kicks me straight to the screen mentioned above...
The device is not recognized by adb or fastboot anymore...
Any hints how i should proceed?

No fastboot, adb and bootlooping

Hi,
I have multirom installed and tried to install a android 5.0 rom. After installation I had some kind of boot loop: google logo -> restart
After that I rebooted via fastboot to recovery, but after the splash screen it rebootet and I got again the boot loop.
My next step was to try fastboot boot with the multirom recovery image and my default boot.img, but no success...
Then I noticed that I need for this 5.0 rom the 4.23 bootloader, so I upgraded from 4.13 (I think).
Same after that...
Then I tired fastboot boot with a stock TWRP recovery image for nexus 7 (2012) and I got a new kind of bootloop after that: google logo -> TWRP Logo -> restart
And now it tries to boot TWRP every time I turn on the devices and can't boot to fastboot (via vol - button) and adb is not working too...
Any ideas?
Download factory image and do a clean flash with wug tool kit. This will fix it.
To install the factory image, I need fastboot and I can't enter fastboot mode.

I was stuck the same way yesterday. Use the WUGS Nexus Root Toolkit. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
I had to fool around with it before it would see the device, but once it did, I flashed the LRX21P and was off and running.
When I want to use in the toolkit "Back to Stock (Soft-Bricked/Bootloop) it asks me to tsrat into fastboot mode... but I can't... but I can get the device into apx mode...
Bump...

You mention TWRP - are you able to boot into TWRP, or does it just show the splash and reboot again? If you can get into TWRP, you could conceivably use ADB mode and sideload something...
Splash and reboot... I already tried to get adb access, but no success...

Flashed the wrong recovery

I followed this guide to root my Nexus 10, did the oem unlock, downloaded the linked version of TWRP and flashed it via fastboot, now it won't boot and I can't get into recovery mode, because the version of TWRP was apparently meant for the Nexus 7 aka Flo.
It starts booting normally, but the boot animation just seems to go on forever, I waited around 30 minutes for it to finish but it didn't.
I can get into fastboot mode, but can't change the boot option and I haven't been able to flash anything (doesn't show up with fastboot devices), Windows recognizes the device as "Gadget Serial".
Is there anything I can do?

Install the ADB drivers on your PC, and then use the command prompt to boot into recovery : adb reboot recovery
http://lifehacker.com/the-most-useful-things-you-can-do-with-adb-and-fastboot-1590337225
What? I can't boot into recovery mode because I flashed a recovery for the Nexus 7. And I can't use ADB because I can't boot into Android either.
Use WugFresh Nexus Root Toolkit. It's worked for me on tablets that could not get past the bootloader on their own.
http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/
1) Press power + volup + voldown and enter bootloader
2) Flash recovery with command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
done

Semi-bricked??

Weird: I was just using it normally, it switched off and now it stays stuck on the Google logo; when entering recovery mode, I get TWRP"s splash screen and it stays there, so I cannot even recover.
Suggestions please??
Note 1: I'm pretty bad with this kind of stuff, need step-by-step instructions.
Note 2: rom is AOSP 7.1.2 but I guess is irrelevant, as even TWRP does not load.
Thanks in advance!!
Can you fastboot boot the TWRP recovery?
Hmmm dont know exactly what that means sorry; I mean I havent tried connecting it to the laptop and using thr ADB toolkit, but I can reset via Power+VolDown to the bootloader menu (? the android layind down and giving the option to StartSystem/ SwitchOff/ Restart/ RecoveryMode), and choosing RecoveyMode it tries to launch TWRP (it even shows the logo) but stays there on the splashscreen, doesn't quite manage to give me the TWRP menus
Someone?

let's see... I set in recovery mode, connect to the PC (does not recognise it), and with "fastboot boot twrp.img" it just sends/writes the file, the tab shows the Google logo with open lock, and then tries to launch Twrp, but as before, it just get stuck in the splashscreen "TeamWin Recovery Project 3.3.1.0" , so just the same.
Command "fastboot flash boot twrp.img" the same
Command "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" the same
Command "adb devices" returns the list empty
Command "adb reboot recovery" returns "error: no devices / emulators found"
Command "fastboot oem unlock" returns "(bootloader) bootloader is already unlocked"
I tried running a tool called FirstAid (https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=16684) but does nothing for me
I'm lost, please help
Video and photos of the issue (device, not adb)

Well, looking at your video it seems that there is no bootable ROM installed and also the recovery (for what ever reason) has some issues to start.
The fact, that you are able to boot into bootloader shows that at least it's not completely bricked ... but there's still the chance that the flash memory has some issues.
I would connect the device via usb with a PC and try to do a
fastboot boot <twrp-3.3.1-grouper.img>
to whether in that case the recovery is booting.
If this is successful, the next step would be re-flashing the recovery into the recovery partition and booing into recovery mode from the bootloader.
If this is successful, too, wiping and flashing a new ROM would be the last step.
