Just flashed the newest CM7 Update (update-cm-7-03262011-NIGHTLY-GalaxyS-signed.zip) and the newest kernel update (CM7_GT-I9000_kernel_kang_20110327_16_update.zip)
I dont actually know whether this is kernel related or related to the new CM7 update but now my phone has a SIMLOCK!!
I unlocked it several months ago using this and it worked perfect until I updated today... I did the procedure again but still no changes, lock is removed in nv_data.bin
EDIT: THIS IS GETTING REALLY WEIRD; Phone asks me for an unlock code now, If I want to call someone I get an error: no Simcard inserted. Same for Mobile Data. But If somebody calls me everything works perfect, I can talk etc! Oh and I also just had the keyboard-vibration bug (kernel related?)
EDIT2: just reverted back to update-cm-7-03122011-NIGHTLY-GalaxyS-signed.zip and CM7_GT-I9000_kernel_kang_20110323_02_update.zip where everything was working before... still no change!!
EDIT3: I deleted some files (old roms/kernels) on my sdcard before I flashed the updates to gain some space, could this be related to my problem?!
HELP!!!
Do you have a backup of the /efs folder? Tried restoring it? I'm no expert but I understand that's where the business happens. It may be corrupted somehow.
Did you try Darky's Resurrection Rom? Repartition with Odin - should take care of the issue.
HTH
I tried to rename all lock and unlock sounds under media>ui folder, except the sound related to that light effects unlock mode, but I can't get rid of those lock and unlock sounds.
Actually, I noticed that the unlock and lock sound are not listed there. Does anyone know where these files are stored?
My goal is let enabled only the light effects unlock sound and disable all others.
Rooted using Root Explorer here.
Solved. Renaming all unlock and lock sounds and rebooting solved the issue.
hey bro. i can only change the lock sound. couldn't change the unlock bubble sound
glad you made this thread. i'm currently on TW rom, hate the sounds

The files are replaced properly. Still won't work properly for the unlock sound
So I bought a Droid M a while back, used Radio Comm so I could use it on ATT and its worked ALMOST flawlessly. Im having issue with the Modem Fastdomancy apk. It doesn't wake up from deep sleep, and I sometimes have to soft reset it too boot it back up. After scouring the internet I've found that's its most likely the ModemFastDormancy.apk that's causing the issue. Since it has the latest update I cant root. Haven't tied unlocking the bootloader yet through Motorola, but I'm prob going to. can anyone tell me how to get rid of the modem fast dormancy apk? I cant use Titanium Backup without root, and stopping only works for a short time. Any help would be appreciated. I wish I had realized about the bootloader and root patches before I bought it, but I'm stuck till there's a work around.
Same here, using this phone, outside US in GSM network.
Anyone can advice something?
Hi All
I was wondering whether someone could tell me whether this is likely to work before I spend hours trying...
My situation is that the echo / muffled voice issue is a CONSTANT issue for me - I bought on a contract rather than through Google, so would have to return to Huawei directly for "repair" - which I've already done once and pretty sure they just sent the phone back to me. Besides, I don't have a spare phone and setting up the phone again every time is a pain, especially as I use it for work and need to involve our IT to register and install [email protected]
It's this latter point which prevents me from rooting - the software audits and reports on rooting - so it'd get blocked and I'd get a slap on the wrist. Using RootCloak or similar is also not an option I'm willing to go down (my company deals in security things so this wouldn't go down well at all!).
So what I'm aiming to do is:
Modify build.prop to turn the noise cancelling mic off
Without wiping my device and having to install all my apps again
Without rooting
I've come across this: How to edit build.prop without root and I'm interested in whether the approach without root would work?
In short, it would involve booting into a custom recovery (TWRP?) temporarily through fastboot (without unlocking the bootloader as that wipes all my data), and then modifying the file via adb.
So - does anyone know whether this is a feasible option on the 6P?
Thanks!
What you may be able to do is unlock the bootloader. Once unlocked you can flash twrp recovery on the device (however do not root it when it asks if you want to). Then from there you should be able to pull and push a modified build.prop. However you will have to wipe your device in order to make it happen. That is the only way I could think of since the bootloader has to be unlocked in order to edit files on the nexus.
This won't work, even using adb to modify system files requires root.
Long story short: you can't do it. I'm pretty sure even using adb to modify system files requires root.
Grr - So I'm either stuck with a phone that I can use for emails / calendar for work, but doesn't work as a phone - or I have to root to make it work as a phone, but not use it for work
I'm not sure I have the energy or desire to keep sending this back for repair, only for them to not fix anything - it seems that some units just work, others don't.
OP, were you ever able to resolve this issue?
I have the same problem, got a replacement from Huawei for the bootlooping issue (same IMEI as before) and have the horrible microphone issue and don't want to root it.
I want to try the build.Prop quora.com thing as well but that is the only reference I have seen that claims to allow modification without root.
Hello, I was having issues with the fingerprint sensor so I tried to install the stock Rom using msm, tried again, about 5 times (all different versions). Now settings constantly crashes and I'm unable to unlock the bootloder due to having to update the device to unlock it again from the settings. Also wifi isn't working so even when I am able to get to the update screen I still am unable to fix it. Is there any solutions to this problem? Thank you
Used bluetooth tethering to update it, took a very long time but I am able to unlock the bootloader now
