[Q] G900R7 problem - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 G900R7 rooted with towelroot. I want to flash twrp custom recovery but I'm not sure which way I should do this. I tried to use twrp's Google play app but it didn't have my phone's "codename". I had a rooted s4 with twrp and cm so I'm not a complete newbie. I just need a little help figuring out how I should do this.

Please help.

So far, only Dev. Edition S5 with an unlocked bootloader can flash a custom recovery like TWRP. More than likely you have yourself a retail version of the phone with a locked bootloader like the rest of us. The closest to a custom recovery we can get is Safestrap. I dont really know if the g900r7 is identical to the g900v so i would use caution of you want to try any of the methods here in this forum for root or to flash safestrap. A quick google search for your phone didnt provide much detail about it.

[Q] Galaxy S4 Help please

Hi I used to own a iphone my galaxy s4 is my first phone, amd I have had it for about a year I have rooted it with kingo root and I am on att android 4.3 (i337) anyway I really really want to go back to stock I am on stock rom just rooted I cannot install custom roms I dont know why I might have to unlock my bootloader I have heard something like that but I just want the latest version of android can anyone way me through this I tried using odin I guess I couldnt figure it out andni have already used youtube for help no luck
Since you are on 4.3, there is no way to unlock the locked boot loader.
The locked boot loader prevents the stock recovery and kernel from being replaced.
This means no CM/AOSP/AOKP/GPE(google play edition) rom on the phone. Only touchwiz based Roms work. There is one GPE that works.

[Q] GT-i9505 Samsung 5.0.1 downgrade to Samsung 4.4.2

Recently, I unroot my GT-i9505 and flashed a stock Samsung 5.0.1 to my phone. Now I wanna root my device again and flash a Deodexed stock Samsung 4.4.2. I search through the internet and multiple forum. Every method I try, it fail. Most the time Odin will run until recovery.img then either stuck or fail.
The rom I'm using is lrx22c.i9505xxuhoa7. I tried to use CF-auto root, doesn't work. What you guys recommend me to do?
Search in S4 General. There are tutorials for rooting an Android 5.0.1 device. After that, install a recovery through Odin and flash away.
tell us if you ca do the downgrade, because i want to do the upgrade now, but i donĀ“t now if i will satisfied with lollipop, thanks!
I search for numerous post and thread on internet already. Pretty much none is working.
Here's some method I tried and doesn't work. Also, I can't even install TWRP recovery.

I'm not sure I'm missing something. When I flash, do I really have to wipe data and re-partition?
I can't answer that. I never installed Touchwiz 5.0.1 on my device and went straight from my Black Edition ROM to Danvdh's GPE ROM.

[Q] Xposed on locked bootloader and Rolling back questions

Hello all,
I recently installed 5.0.1 rooted on galaxy s4 I337 using muniz's method and had some questions?
The main reason I rooted was to try to get xposed so I can edit the ui, I understand that it is not working on samsung devices right now, but when it does work, I understand the only way to install it is using a custom recovery.
Since I have a locked bootloader and am on 5.0.1 I don't think there is a way to get a custom recovery on here, correct me if I'm wrong.
How would I install the xposed framework? Will flashfire be able to load it?
Also, if I were to revert back to the stock NB1 build, can I re-root and install clockworkmod (would LOKI work then?) on it and then go to a custom rom like cynogenmod or are there problems with this because I already have updated all the way to 5.0.1? (I've done this rollback through ODIN before and it's not too bad.)
I'm new to android modding so this has been a learning experience.
Thanks
Once upgraded to the locked bootloaders, there is no going back to loki. You can downgrade from 5.0.1 to 4.4.2, but you can only use safestrap recovery, and only touchwiz based firmware. Also, safestrap doesn't work on 5.0.1 yet. From what I have read, with 5.0.1 you'll have to wait and see what the developers come up with. If you care to learn more about the history of bootloaders, there is lots of info in these forums.

If xposed ever is updated to support Lollipop Touchwiz, you'll be able to flash it using Flashfire or using the Safestrap workaround (flash 4.4 kernel so you can get into safestrap, flash files, then flash 5.0 kernel). There's no way to go back to CWM or TWRP past the old MF3 4.2.2 update, which has long come and gone now.

Custom and Stock ROMs Question

Hi everyone, I have question that I hope you can answer.
Today I flashed a Custom Recovery and Rooted my Note 3 SM N900. Everything is working fine, I rooted my phone in order to delete apps like trip advisor, s health among other apps. But I've seen that there are 6.0 ROMs for my phone. I've seen many tutorials and I would like to flash a custom ROM. (I'm thinking on flashing Resurrection Remix 5.1.1 for my SM N900). I already made my efs folder backup.
So, my question is this. When I decide to go back to a stock ROM (Lollipop Samsung Touchwiz the one I currently have) do I need to do something extra? Like, I would be able to flash a sotck samsung ROM through TWPR recovery for example? or what I need to do is just flash through odin?
Could you please tell me what I need to know on this cases?
Thank you very much! :good:
just flash with odin and you r good to go

And What about the bootloader? Do I Need to unlock it if I want to install any custom ROM? I installed TWRP recovery on my phone, then I Rooted the phone. The steps that I've seen on the Internet to flash a Custom ROM doesn't have a step that unlocks bootloader or so.
Or the bootloader is unlocked since I rooted the phone? I'm confused. I really appreciated if you or someone could explain this doubt.
Thanks in advance. :good:
N900 is already factory bootloader unlocked
Sent from my SM-N920C
Using a bootloader unlock app could brick the phone. The only note 3 I know of with a locked bootloader is the AT&T Sm-900a.

Is it possible to flash custom rom with stock OF3?

My son's ATT GS5 is currently on stock rom OF3 and want to experiment flashing custom rom. Can someone point us into the right direction.
Here's my understanding, need to flash recovery (where can I find instructions) and then rom. Also, do I need root in order to do all this?
Thanks.
Unfortunately the AT&T G900A has a locked bootloader so custom roms are extremely limited. There are also no custom recoveries available for the G900A except safestrap, but even then it cannot do much.
