Hey everyone, did a quick search via here and google, but couldn't come up with a definitive answer. I'm having an issue with text messages when I reboot. I'm currently using T-mobile on this phone, and the apn settings posting on here. After a reboot, I can't send text messages, but can receive them. Voice and data works fine. The only issue I get is when sending texts. I found a workaround for this, switching the phone from Global to GSM/UMTS, then back to Global mode and it works fine. Does this sound like an APN setting problem? Or is it something else? Thanks.

Which update caused this issue? Or you are having this issue on the stock NCG 4.4.2?

I've tried to change my APN's. I've used both the Cingular one that was default, and the AT&T HPSA+ one that was posted on here. At first things were ok, but now Picture messages won't send. My data still works, but it's slow. I used to use Handcent and it was fine, then I went to ChompSMS when Handcent stopped sending mms, and now Chomp doesn't either.
Any help anyone? I've tried searching but I've already used the APN settings I found on the forum.

Apparently it was ChompSMS. I deleted it at MMS messages are now working properly.
Hello Everyone,
I'm currently running on a Sprint LG G2 with all of the current profile and PRL updates through Sprint. Since activating this phone, I haven't been able to send or receive MMS, specifically picture, messages. Is anyone else seeing this kind of behavior on Sprint?
Side Note
As a side note, I've noticed this is more prominent when using Google Hangout as the default MMS messaging client. When I switched to the factory "messaging" program, I was able to send photos, but still not receive. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the quick response Steamer! Can the edits you described in that post be performed without rooting the phone? Any rough walk-through/tutorials available to assist in the editing?
My problem is a little bit different.. I can send and receive MMS IF I enable the data plan. If data plan is disable..MMS cant send or receive anything.
Arent MMS supposed to connect to data automatically without us have to manually enable it (data)?
I recently purchased an axon 7. Everything works perfect except my ability to send MMS and SMS messages. I am on a regional carrier named cellcom out of Wisconsin. They are CDMA and share 4g towers with Verizon. I have tried several messaging apps and none have worked. I have no problem receiving MMS and SMS messages just can not send them. Any advice would be great!
Try manually adding in your carrier's APN settings.
Manually enter apn
I copies the APN settings from another phone on my plan and that's when I was able to start receiving MMS but when I try to send it just says service not activated on network
Talk to CellCom about it - a lot of people have been having problems getting the CDMA services to work on this phone. I would only recommend this phone for GSM service
Cellcom gave me the old if we don't sell the phone it won't work on our network. Everything works perfect except sending MMS. Honestly I can live without it if I have too.

hi,just wandering if it's A2017U or A2017G?
Try a different app. I recommend trying Textra.
I know on B18 or whatever came on the phone originally had issues. Supposedly they fixed their messaging app later on B20 but i haven't used since i bought the phone. Have it disabled.
Sent from my ZTE A2017U using XDA-Developers mobile app
I'm using Go SMS pro with no issues at all.

I'm having a similar issue on T-Mobile using Chomp SMS but only with MMS
I had the same issues with AT&T. I solved the issue by using Textra and changing this option.....
Settings > MMS > MMS Behavior = System
If that is the option you have set, change it to Legacy.
Hope that helps.
I had a similar problem - I contacted ZTE France who advised me on (new) APN settings and to ensure that Hangouts wasn't my default messaging app.
I updated the APN and switch away from Hangouts and can now send & receive MMS messages.
I then went back to Hangouts - and no longer able to send ... so the APN might have been a red herring (I didn't compare old to new settings - just deleted the old) ... and it was Hangouts all along.
In case anyone else was experiencing the same issues I had with my S8+....I was unable to send/receive MMS when I initially registered the phone. Realized it was because I was using a private messaging app such as Signal/Whisper on my Note 5. I installed another 3rd party application such as WhatsApp, disconnected Wifi, Restarted my device, and then sent a few test MMS messages. After doing this I selected "Samsung Messages" as my default messaging app again and MMS messages began to work once again.
Yeah I had this problem, I'm coming from a Nexus 6, so I was used to Android Messages app by Google. None of the MMS messages would come through and would just say it failed to download. I was forced to switch it to Samsung Messages and now I get them.
Still wondering if there's a fix for this.

Have you tried switching back to your previous preferred messaging app since you started receiving them on Samsung Messages?

Yes, that's what I did right after I received them on Samsung Messages. The old mms messages showed up, but I didn't receive any new mms. Had to switch back again.
Having the same issue, couldn't find any fixes yet.
same issue here with Google message.. Its the wifi.. Turn it off and mms will work.
Fixed......I had disabled Verizon Messages. I re-enabled VM and updated the app. Then just opened Android Messages and enabled that as default. MMS is now working.
Simply updating Android Messages fixes this issue. V2.2.067
Thanks I had to find the apk cause the store didn't push it out yet. Works over wifi now with that 2.2.067
Possible issue
I have the Galaxy s8 using Google's 'messages' app. I noticed when the phone is idle for a certain time, it starts shutting off certain functions to save power. I've witnessed my phone resuming from sleep and seeing wifi being turned on and reconnected to. I believe it does the same thing with data. What I think the issue is, is that when the phone is woken up, it's not connecting data back to the part of the messaging app that needs it to download MMS messages. Possible temporary fix, just shut off your data for 30 seconds and turn it back on.
Edit: That only works some times. I really don't know how to fix this. It stopped receiving MMS while I was still using my phone.
Is anyone else having issues receiving SMS and MMS on Sprint network. I also purchased me phone from Sprint. I am currently on software NMJ32F. I have reset network settings, and factory reset. I have updated PRL and Profile. I have pulled the Sim and reseated it. I have done everything I can think of any suggestions? Phone calls work perfectly fine. Just receiving messages is not working. Data works fine.
I have Sprint but the device is an unlocked model. Haven't had any issues but I'd say you've done everything you can. Take it to a Sprint store and make a stink until they replace the device.

That is the weird thing. I have texted myself and it works. I guess i should have added that this is happening for me for all non sprint friends and family. if they have sprint everything is okay just not if they are with another carrier.
Sprint is having texting problems with this phone and has acknowledged it. They have identified the problem and testing a fix.
The problem identified is repeatedly receiving the same text and not receiving newer ones. If you aren't receiving anything at all, I'd get in touch with support. It could be a provisioning problem.

I got a hold of support and sounds like the fixed something on the back end on the towers. We shall see if that fixes the issue. Nothing yet but i will give it 24 hours

I've been having this problem, especially not receiving mms messages and duplicate sms messages. They periodically get stuck, and the only way to fix is to get on a chat with support and have them refresh my network connection with the phone off and send a text message. I use Google voice so I can see sms messages in the voice app but know if something is wrong if I don't get a message in the messaging app.

I updated my APN and preferred network and everything is working fine since. No more repeated/delayed sms or hanging mms.

Go to phone settings>mobile network>APN settings then pick the one (or any) that you want. Open it up then tap on any name fields that you want to edit, change it as you wish. After you edited all the name fields tap on the 3 dot at the top right corner then choose save, and exit out. Make sure you check/select the APN you just edited.

I'm with Sprint too and my settings may or may not working for you because of the location differences but you can try... You never know!
