Those recoveries arent woirking fully yet. When or if they get a fully functional recovery / rom flash working in that then the custom roms might start coming but the custom roms are usually aimed at more expensive hardware.

I'm wagering this device will see a fair amount of love.

UPDATED! 10/15 [Announcement] Safestrap released by Hashcode

In case you missed it Hashcode released the alpha of Safestrap over here...
[RECOVERY LOCKED] Safestrap Recovery v3.6x
...I am just sharing the news. You need to check the original thread for details and instructions. Please read carefully as there are a few caveats at this time. Like...
CURRENTLY THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WHERE IF YOU HAVE ENCRYPTION ENABLED AND INSTALL SS IT BOOTLOOPS. IF YOU FIT THIS DESCRIPTION PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM SAFESTRAP FOR NOW.
Click to collapse
KNOWN ISSUES (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY):
For locked users: there is a process that happens when you click "Reboot Recovery" from the APK or use the "Recovery" button during the splash screen. Safestrap checks the device for write_protect and if it's enabled will automatically reboot the device to recovery (write_protect disabled) mode. You will see this as a screen with ORANGE text reading: "PLEASE WAIT THE DEVICE IS REBOOTING TO RECOVERY". Followed by the bootloader screen again. You may also see the splashscreen for Safestrap. If you see the splashscreen hit "Recovery" again. It's supposed to automatically take you to into recovery, but it doesn't work correctly yet.

And there are other things you need to read as well. So head over there and check out the OP and enjoy.
10/15 UPDATE BELOW
Hashcode said:
NEW Safestrap in the OP Link: v3.63
ATTENTION: IF UPGRADING FROM v3.62 or EARLIER USE "REMOVE RECOVERY" IN THE APK BEFORE INSTALLING THE NEW VERSION. I CHANGED THE HIJACK IN v3.63 -- DIFFERENT FILES ARE BEING CHANGED NOW.
CHANGES:
[3.63] I re-wrote the hijack to work at a MUCH better point during the boot. This cleans up most of the "jankyness" we were previously seeing with BT/Wifi and adb serial # on the stock rom. ** Note when upgrading to v3.63: Make sure to use the "Remove Recovery" in the previous version BEFORE installing the new APK. **
[3.63] The 2nd-init hijack was updated to work w/ Android 4.3 (for when that's pushed)
[3.62] Better handling for the virtual partitions
[3.62] Some bugfixes for /mnt handling
[3.62] Customizable sizes for partitions (you can use the defaults if unsure). Use the "+" or "-" buttons on the rom-slot creation screen to add / remove 100mb per click.
Enjoy

I just saw the tweet and thought I would share it. You'll have to double check the original thread. But it looks like (to me and I could be completely wrong) that as long as you haven't enabled encryption then you should be good.

There is not much need to install another ROM really. I mean, I too love custom ROMs but to he honest, the ROM that comes in with the G2 is really good, lighting fast, smooth and customizable.
The only thing you'll need to do will be to remove any bloatware Verizon has pre-installed.
On the T-Mobile version there's only one custom ROM (basically a clean version of the stock)
There has been not much dev activity yet, but I hope to see improvements soon, specially once the N5 comes out. So they say.
Cheers!
I have the AT&T G2, but I highly recommend TWRP recovery. I had always used CWM prior to this device, too, but I'm not sure if you have to add the Loki exploit to bypass the bootloader with CWM. TWRP has the exploit built in as best I can tell.

[REQUEST] Eclipse ROM Port

Got my Galaxy Gear Watch today and couldn't get it working on my AOSP ROM so I moved over to a TW ROM. However, I hate the TW look. It's too big and clunky so I went looking for some TW ROMs and found this one:
http://www.elementalxdesigns.com/ec...-0-(08-27-13)-Touchwiz-stability-AOSP-Styling!!
I would love to see this ROM ported to the Sprint S4!
What do you guys think?
Of course it would just be a lot easier to just get Galaxy Gear working with AOSP, but TW generally is more stable with better battery life.

If I'm not mistaken, can't you flash a Verizon rom with a Sprint kernel and it'll work?

As long as it's TW ROM. I've never tried AOSP.
BTW the way to install is to wipe data and caches the install ROM. Then wipe data once again then absprint kernel.

Clean installed, wiped data, then flashed the Sprint kernel, and got stuck in a boot loop. Tried a couple kernels too. Might try again some time today.

I'll take a look at this. No promises but it sounds too good to pass up myself. If I make progress I'll post it here.
Not much to say at this point. Its bootable with a little updater.script editing and flashing the ktkernel with aroma and instantly rebooting recovery and flashing an older 4.3 ktkernel. No data as of yet. I guess if I can get a stable data through either network or WiFi I'll make a download for ya. Or just some good links and a tut.

None.. sorry. Very busy atm and have no time..

No Pure Google?

Sorry for the silly question but I've been curious. Any particular reason that we haven't seen any AOSP/AOKP ROMs for our device yet? Is it lack of development or is there something a bit more technical that is preventing that from happening? I usually love to tinker and they offer quite a bit more options. Again, just curious....

Yeah but didn't the Bionic also have a locked bootloader? We were still able to run AOKP through safe strap. Hopefully we can run AOKP the same way on the Note 3. Unless I'm wrong about the Bionic.

This is a complete guess but I'd say it wasn't a full aosp rom. Probably just a rom made to look and work like aokp on the regular kernel

I just want to make sure I understand this. There is currently a thread on T-Mobile Developer forum for CM10.2. While it's not working well now, once it's debugged it should work fine on our DEs, with the stock TM CM10.2 kernel?

Updating Custom ROMs

I am using Purity 4.4 + Matrix 11.5 right now.
Now my question is how do you guys update your respective ROMs instead of flashing newer versions through recovery? I tried GooManager but it didn't work for me :-|
You should ask in thread about your rom. If devs do not do OTA update you must use recovery to update rom
I think most use recovery

Download updated ROM zip file and flash through recovery (TWRP for myself).

It's not hard but sometimes you get too lazy
Simple. Set up VM environment there are simple walkthrough video and once your set up you can pull straight out of the devs or any branch. I do my own when I feel I need to add a feature I do. There are a major variety of bases to choose from. Its much easier than many think. In my opinion its safer as I know exactly what I'm getting. Not to mention an addiction lay within too. Lol Have fun bro. Welcome to the machine. Many new devs are so stoked when the first ROM they build is complete they can't stop. Lol peace.
