Hey guys,
So I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 and a Google Chromecast. Chromecast finds the device, but when I tap the chromecast device's name where it says "ready to cast," all I get is the settings. THere is no "cast to tv" in the side bar.
Is anyone else having this issue? I just want to mirror my galaxy tab 4 on my tv!!

wowwwwwwww
terrible news. BUt thank you for the link.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8" and my HTC MediaLink works with this device but only for streaming videos and music - but the tablet is not mirrored like on my HTC One phone. Samsung has their own MHL and my generic MHL does not work with my Tab 4. I think Samsung may have their own wireless "medialink" type device.

I just got the Samsung car dock for my VZW tab. When I put the Tab in the dock it beeps and I get a notice in the notification bar that says "Touch here to exit car mode". The problem is that there is no "car mode" app that launches. I was expecting something similar to the car mode on my Moto Droid. Am I missing something or is there no car mode app on the Tab?
Roger
ETA: I've installed Google Car Home for now, but I haven't checked to see if it will auto launch when connected to the dock.
Doesnt work with my dock either. I set aside a home screen with all the apps I might need while im driving...ie, navigation, maps, music, etc

And now available for download from the Samsung app store.
Specmac, gillebob,
Is the version posted in these forums the same as the version found in Samsung Apps?
Verizon Tabs don't have Samsung Apps, but I'd like to get the best version of the Car Home app.
Thanks!

Hi,
Just a couple of questions:
1) I have tried to install the Samsung Smartview apk on my N7 and although it installs fine but when started it will come up with "authentication error". I have tried 3.18,3.19 and 3.20 of the apk and got the same results. Would like to use my N7 as remote and dual view if possible for my Samsung TV other than my GS2.
2) Also tried to install AllShare on N7 and copied the apk file to system folder but still no luck, any advise?
I wondering if some sort of Samsung framework is require for those apps. Thanks!
you must go to the setting on the tv . its under i forget the tab . but the setting menu that comes up on the left side of the tv . its tucked away under general i think. You have to reauthorize it . I had the same troubles. And everytime i reinstall the apps on my phone or a500 same issue..
I so wish my vizio led tv could use this. there remote is lame even thou it comes with a quarty keyboard on the back of it ..
good luck
just tried on my nexus same issue as you describe. Sorry guess we are SOL. Until samsung addresses this. i sent them a email please do the same.. I never installed it until i read your post .. sorry

You could try airdroid, not sure if it will give you all functions that you need though.

What kind of remote control ? Against theft ? For that, the samsung has it's own remote control service. If you have a Samsung account set-up on your Galaxy S3, go to : http://www.samsungdive.com/DiveMain.do
For total remote access, I don't know. But if it's possible, it may create vulnerability on your device (because it will able to receive instructions from other devices).

Airdroid is goof if you just want to use a browser to send text messages etc.
I have mine set up with tasker to fire up automatically when my phone joins the works wifi network. That way I can text all day without ever having to touch my phone
You could also try DroidVNC for more complete control of the device.
Try Moborobo, you can control your phone from Pc as if your phone is on your hands

Hi guys!
Got a HK I9300 a few weeks ago! the phone is still stock.
I am currently on mainland China, on a China Mobile sim card, must also add i do get access to Google Play (so no need to change to change roms for now)
Problem though is that i wanted to add some security to the phone, with the "remote control". Registered on Samsung Dive, Google, allowed google locations,... and when i go to remote controls and press "ok", i get " Unfortunately, Settings has stopped"
i would like to know if anyone had the same problems or is it remote controls is not supported for mainland china?
Thanks ... really want to keep track of my phone in case it gets stolen
Can you do screen mirror from a Samsung device onto the Shield TV?
Also, dumb question...where is the search forum text field?
Got it!

WHICH DEVICES CAN MIRROR TO SHIELD?
To mirror your Android screen to your TV, your mobile device needs to support Android OS 4.4.2 or higher. For a full list of supported devices and instructions, visit the Google Cast support page.

So, Samsung's Screen Mirror app doesn't work. But, I was able to download the ScreenCast app and use that app and it worked!
-------UPDATE-------
The audio is a bit choppy tho
Tried both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz, both are choppy, even with full bars

Can you please post a link of the app?
I can't find it on play store
I search on google galaxy A5 support Screen Mirroring.
But i dont see on Galaxy A5 2016
Any one can help me plz.
I mailed to Samsung CC and got the following reply:
Dear Mr. Kumar,
You can try using ALLSHARE to connect you handset to TV.
To check that ALLSHARE is available in phone or not, kindly follow the below steps.
Go to setting>application manager>all>allshare.
If ALLSHARE is not available in phone download it from playstore.
Not Found
"Allshare FileShare Service" is the only thing I found in the app manager, but it doesn't seem to be the mirroring feature we are looking after. In the PlayStore there is no such thing as AllShare. Screen Mirroring still missing.

I don't own a A5 2016 but I think this feature is hidden by default. Download a miracast shortcut app (e.g. like this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mattgmg.miracastwidget) and open it.
If it searching for a TV then should your device support screen mirroring.

Hi Philbo. I have been around the Net to grasp how the chromecast could work with the A5 2016 but it's still quite ambigious to me.
To my understanding, just some apps through the chrome cast menu can display on a TV screen. Is it same as screen mirroring that's missing from the device? Can we dispaly the whole screen in any activity or am I right assuming that just some apps do?
If you have useful links you think might help, please direct me! Thanks in advance.
According to Samsung official website, Screen Mirroring function is not supported on A5 2016. But it does mention that screen casting thru Chromecast is supported. http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/skp/faq/1096322
Can anyone feedback if it really works thru Chromecast?

You can use the "google home" app to stream your entire display over chromecast. Works pretty well
