..

No. You will get zero aftermarket developer support and zero support from the company.

I'm not replying either due to the shoutyness of the OP.
DON'T buy the clone.
The free crap is worth peanuts and shouldn't sway your decision.
Get the best spec (and XDA supported) 2nd hand / pre-loved phone you can afford. Chances are it will come with accessories as well and you'll get more for your money.
My 9yr old son uses my old HTC DesireHD and it's far better than he could have bought with his limited budget. And it's rooted running a lightning quick rom.
sent from SGS5 running NeatRom 0X1

Definitely not. Clones are really bad.

Big letters don`t make you look smarter, just the opposite. Get a clone asap. i`am sure YOU wlll like it
Who the hell rated this thread 5 stars :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

I once considered getting a clone device, but then I thought about it...
I can buy a used SGS3 for about the same price as the SGS5 clone. The SGS3 does not have junk hardware, and the internals and screen will not break if you bump it. The SGS3 still has people developing for it, and stock firmware still gets official updates.
Clones get pretty much Zero community dev support, and no updates. The device may have poor quality cellular antenna's, which would give you bad reception and many dropped phone calls. It may have poor quality audio mic/speakers, which makes you sound terrible on phone calls. It could have poor quality camera pictures too. The screen will most certainly be much poorer quality. These are things we take for granted in higher quality phones, but should not take for granted in a clone device.
Also, a clone device will have almost no resale value. If you can handle these things, then Yes you should buy it. If you want something cheap and you expect it to be cheap, then you will not be disappointed.
Best of luck

Dude crawl back from under the rock you came from BTW this is not primarely a friends forum but a software developer forum with strict rules.

You guys are flaming a 14 year old for writing in all capital letters and calling him juvenile? He is juvenile. These types of responses make people not even want to be apart of this community. Though you may find it shooting, he's not breaking any rules.

You`re partly right
@OP: Never buy a clone, it may seem attractive but its better to buy an original phone for warranty, quality, updates and afterservice.
I would rather buy a original Moto G then a cloned device to be honest.
That said, if you post a thread time just write in normal letters, only the first letter of a sentence usualy starts with a capital letter and your question will be answered anyway

thanks alot for your support and your advice! ummmm sorry.........no caps from now on! :good:

Do not buy a clone. They're ****s. I tried some of my friends had but they are really slow and many things not working properly. May be my old EVO 3D would be better. Double core clocked on 1,5 Ghz and cost only 80 GBP new which fits in your budget.

if u want a clone buy it directly from hdc or goophone store, they have good quality phones, in the chinese stores its possible u buy a clone from another clone, so...think about it

Suggestions for Custom Board/Phone for a Project

Hi,
I am not sure how to ask this question yet i scribble a few words. Kindly ask questions if you are not clear. Thanks in advance.
We are doing a custom device for a industrial project. The project involves maintaining stock and functioning of electronic products using the USB API. The USB device(Our Product) and the android phone will be placed and provided to the end-user in an assembly. The end user sees the whole thing as a PDA/Device for use in industry.
I need suggestions for the following:
- The android Phone which we use must contain the following according to the Devs.
Android Version 2.2 or Higher.
Android Gingerbread 2.3 or higher is preferred.
- Touch Screen (Resistive or capacitive)
- Resolution 320 X 480 Pixels (Minimum)
- Screen-size 3 -4 Inches
- GPS or aGPS
- G-Sensor
- WiFi (any b/g/n or all)
- Internal Memory 512MB or higher
- RAM 384 MB or higher
- Processor 500 MHz or higher
- Battery 5 hrs or more usage time
- Partially assembled units with Display, Battery and Board.
- the outer case is not required (Optional)
- Bluetooth, GSM.. etc are necessarily required but if present can be used for any future projects.
Is there any board/ assembly unit or may be a mobile phone without the fancy housing or casing which we can buy for our project?
The BeagleBoard and AllGo boards already have android support but are on the expensive side.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Mods kindly help me to make this questions little more clear to the respected community.
Thank you.
As far as I can understand, you want something like DIY package for phone. I haven't heard about such thing, and even if it does exist - it's too expensive when compared to fully assembled phones. Basically what you described covers all functions of hi end PDA 3 years ago.
AFAIK you won't find resistive touchscreen phone with Android - it isn't really supported by AOSP.
I'd look for something like first Android HTCs, these were pretty good devices, aren't expensive now and meets your requirements I believe.
Unfortunately the cost to custom make something would be pretty high, and unless you are going to be selling these by the thousands, it will be cheaper to just buy a stock android phone.
The other problem is, Android devices have a specific set of requirements for both hardware and software before Google lets you put their os on it. (Not sure if that means they are "closed source" per-se, but I can't blame them for having minimum requirements, to at least keep up appearances.)
Have you considered using a Nexus S? It sounds like it would meet the requirements and could be modified if needed. Plus being a google dev phone android 2.3 was pretty much written for it.

You're thinking of the Google Apps, the OS is opensource and can be put on anything. You would just need their approval for the android market, gmail, g maps, etc.
If you're really serious about this, and it's really industry sized, I suggest you fork out a little more money and get the boards and whatnot.
Is the price in 125$ is high for devkit with ARM, I mean Beagleboard? You could view Freescale's devkit imx53qsb. The price is 149$ for board and 99$ for touchscreen. Freescale support Android 2.x (Gingerbread) BSP, Ubuntu 10 BSP, WinCE(if you pay) BSP.

The Samsung captivate has a 1ghz processor with 500 megs of ram. The device was sold for around $50 on contract. I've personally documented the heck out of it. All this boils down to a device which exceeds the specs you want. Has readily available parts, and is totally maintainable. I'd look at that device for a cheap platform. If you're looking for the development board you want the kit S5PC110... but I made that platform obsolete with UnBrickable Mod . I'd say reuse the available device boards and screens. Make a new case.

Right, on android-x86, we had to add tslib and hack framework/base to get resistive touchscreens to work.
http://git.android-x86.org/?p=platform/external/tslib.git;a=summary
http://git.android-x86.org/?p=platform/frameworks/base.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/donut-x86
http://git.android-x86.org/?p=platf...it;h=ff896c717ffdf746d979bdd50348235724832db5
The last two links are for donut and froyo, but could be ported forward for gingerbread or ics.
Hope that is helpful.

+1 on this. Off the shelf hardware is probably best in this case
Since the hardware specs are so low, price is important and it looks like Android is more the OS than a necessary ecosystem you might look at some of the Chinese mfg's who are building droves of cheap android phones and tablets.
This wont be premier hardware but it should be cheap and meet your needs while allowing whatever quantity you think you'll need.

there have been several devices with resistive screens running android. They haven't been released from major OEM's and are fairly rare in the US but they are certainly supported. Unless you're shooting for a device that feels low end or just doesn't work all that well I'd recommend against them but they are an option.
Thank you... We finally settled for a 50$ phone.. It was cheap and has 3years service and replacement agreement with the manufacturer.. Without your suggestions I could have ordered those expensive development boards..

Main problem with this for the stated purpose in the OP is that the Nexus S doesn't exactly have very strong USB HOST functionality. (Although while it mentions USB, it isn't in the explicit requirements???)
I think for the use described in question, a tablet is likely to be a better bet.
Another option would be Samsung's Galaxy Player series - They are basically Galaxy S devices minus the phone functionality.
However you might want to look into a ruggedized Android device...

Do not miss any steps follow close and pause video if needed
heres the link
A play store fix is provided which is helpful but installation of it is not properly stated in video and caused me to fail first time
corrections are stated below:
download es file manager, once downloaded remember to mount system as writable at bottom in settings of application
also download s3market files provided, i have never used other file provided for calender etc it has no use in mtk6575 versions of the device
store s3market on root of sdcard
copy files within one by one, not together to system location shown
install the com.android.vending-3.5.16.apk file provided in s3market.
fix permissions in properties of files shown
then reboot device
what i have corrected in the procedure will fix the stopped unexpectedly error 100% if done correctly in mtk6575 phones of this device
I'm curious, how do these phones compare to the real thing? I gave up on clone phones after receiving a very bad quality ciphone 09..
Visually Stunning, Functionally a failure...
Be Warned, the HDC Galaxy S3 especially from fastcardtech are not worth the money and mental anguish to get the thing rooted. They come with Gingerbread, and Locked, and full of Chinese Apps. Once you free of that, the Google Sync is limited, so you cannot get your mail, calender, etc synced. Then there is Colonel Zap which is mysteriously the only person in the world prone to be able to root these devices, but be warned again. Only unless you specifically know your Chipset in your phone, MT6577 or 6575, good luck with that, you should be wary of rooting per Col Zap, as in my case, there process bricked one of my two phones from FastCardTech. And don't get me going on FastCardTech, they are complete B.S., takes over a month to accomplish anything, then they send you the lesser model than you pay for. Doesn't matter all the FREE CRAP you will be offered with this phone, doesn't make up for the fact that is is just a great looking shell with poor electronics inside.
Look these phones are from CHINA, the specs offered online are fiction, and are burnt into the kernel of the phone,so it only appears that you are getting what it states online. you are only getting a phone capable of meager performance, NO 4g, 3g, but at lower speeds if your are lucky enough to fit the Mobile Frequency Spectrum the phone runs in, being their made in China, not a U.S. friendly phone in that aspect. Wi-fi is spotty, and the software is crap, bottom line you get what you pay for, and not many resources to get you through the hard times. Good Luck.....!! At least it looks like the real thing you can show off to your friends while they laugh at you.....
Specs do not match and support is very poor
I bought the "Ultimate pro" version from FastcardTech.com (as a new member i am not allowed to post the link) and it does not meet the specs given by them. The GPS took about 2 hours outside to determine my position. After a factory defaults reset i could not find the strength to do this again
The CPU is not the 6577, but the slower 6575. The camera quality is very poor. The wifi signal is very, very weak. (i have a very good and strong router) The sound quality of a phone call is poor. The 'gsm sound' disturbes the conversation all the time, as if you are to close to a speaker. When you complain to FCT, don't expect any customer support. They give to most strange answers and can give no specific support what so ever. After some time, they say i can return the phone, but it's allmost impossible to meet their requirements, so i am pretty sure that when the have it back, i will never hear from them again. (just read the customer feedback on any honest site)
Including tax, shipping and insurance, i paid about 250 euo's for this phone.
If i had known this all on time, i would not have bought it.
But on the other hand, the responsiveness and quality of the screen is good. Gaming goes smooth and after countless factory defaults, i have managed to turn off most Chinise apps, without losing the nice 'Samsung startscreen'.
All together is not such a bad phone after all, but its not what i counted on in the first place.
Now i am curious about if there will be any tweaks possible. Rooting, custom firmware etc...
I am willing to help if possible.
Kind regards,
Coupedevil

Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience. It's disappointing to read how unprofessional some of these shops are It's one thing when they mess up the specs on pre-release products but this shouldn't happen with a phone that has been available for so long. Looks to me like they simply sent the wrong phone to begin with. Their lack of knowledge of even FCE-level English makes it so much worse
I'm looking at chinastore-online to get the Jiayu G2+. The shop at least claims some customer-friendly terms, but so far I've yet to hear from anyone who made a purchase there.
So hang on you've bought an obvious Chinese knock off and your surprised to find its crap? If your interested I can do you a great price on some magic beans (cash or bank transfer only).

I have this galaxy s3 mt6575 clone, same as in the pictures in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1921178
I also had troubles getting the gps to work and started to think it didnt work at all.
But lately I have managed to get some gps signal to work.
I did flash the cwm recovery and have now installed the Lewa rom for it.
google "LeWa For Samsung Galaxy S3 MTK6575" to find the rom if you want to try.
Not sure if it was that rom that made the gps work or not, because I also did install an app named GPS Booster, as well as the u-center gps test app, and the GPS Test app.
Now I get enaugh signal to get my position. But the antenna is weak I think, so I need to be outdoor and have clear weather and clear view to the sky to get it to work. I did not test it in the car yet, but I think it might be to weak to work reliably inside the car.
i just bought the MTK6577 (s3 mimic)
and i want to change his rom (its already rooted)
what rom will work at this device?

None of these roms will work nor will you find one that will here. XDA doesnt support clone knock off devices.

Its not a Samsung phone so not a sammmy rom .
jje
Same Products MT6575
I have the software to update another model, which is not mentioned, but with the same processor.
I have also to update the software, it would be possible to modify intalando software programs and extract and place in another of the same model, but modified?
So manufactures improve their imperfections.

Is it a fake/clone Galaxy S4 ? (Chinese firmware)

Hi friends,
My friend just got himself a Galaxy S4 from his trip to China. It is around $100 cheaper. But he doubts whether it is original due to following reasons :
1. There are no GApps (GMail, GTalk, Search or Now)
2. There are no Motion settings (or at least he couldn't find any) so no AirView, AirGestures, etc.
3. Antutu benchmark is showing 7412
4. There is not showing any Temperature or Barometer sensor in Android System Info app.
5. CPU showing as 'some' UNIVERSAL5410 1.6Ghz Quad-Core ARM v7 revision 10
6. SDCard showing as 2Gb and ROM as 512Mb (??) in Antutu.
But Android System Info (and few other similar apps) is showing
1. RAM = 2GB
2. Display = 5" 1920x1080
3. CPU = UNIVERSAL5410 1.6 GHz ARMv7 revision10
4. GPU = PowerVRSGX5xx (sorry don't remember exactly)
It has firmware version - i9500ZCUAMDG. Surprisingly it is a legit firmware of Samsung as posted here.
My friend is quite depressed as he thinks he is cheated
Plz advise !
Thanks :good:
PS. Ok...so I found some info on UNIVERSAL5410. Plz check.

Definitely fake / clone
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda premium
most android smartphones sold in china have no google apps because the service provided by google in china is very limited. that is the problem between the chinese government and google.
looking for the answers for the rest.
Doesnt seem to be fake. Universal5410 has the model number for the exynos 5410 chip. Clones dont have 2GB RAM on top of that idk about air view and stufd not bring there though so..

Has he got an option to register on the phone to Samsung services, register the phone on that, fakes won't have it. Like create a Samsung account. China and Google don't go well together, hence no Play Store and such. Has it got all the Samsung logos, front, back, battery, serial number. Proper functioning TouchWiz? Check the camera, go into settings make sure it's got the full 13MP. It should have motion control and such can't see why the Chinese model wouldn't have that.
Nothing like good old American authentic Chinese electronics! geez!

You didn't seem understand my comment. I was being sarcastic by saying it is better to buy Chinese electronics from the USA so that they are authentic even though they all come from China. I was just being funny. ha ha :laugh: Oh by the way China = cheap labor!!! USA = Quality and ingenuity!!! Nothing from China has quality unless foreign intelligence is there to guide them. FACT

Yes to most of them. Camera is 12.8mp.

This Youtube video is total bull****. According to it Amazon sells fakes:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-GT-I9500-Factory-Unlocked/dp/B00BV1NKCW
and also Gadgetreview presented fake phone:
http://www.gadgetreview.com/2013/04/delay-on-galaxy-s4-shipment-unlocked-international-version-on-ebay-daily-deals-for-700.html
And here are photos on Samsung Webpage - check second photo, yellow flash light and engraved logo = international version.
http://www.samsung.com/pl/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phones/smartphone/GT-I9505ZKAXEO
Nice, this suppose to be "counterfeited" phone with such a level of details, samoled display, CPU, camera sensor, original firmware beacause the only difference that TechRex guy can present is different color of flash led and logo on back cover...... What an idiot/troll.
I have asked him for few more pics.
He is quite depressed actually
I'll keep posting as and when i receive images.
He tried to update but it said "Your system is up to date".
I don't think it's a fake.
Looks like the international I9500, the firmware will be the official Chinese version.
So he should install a international ROM.
I'm from Europe Germany, as far as I know all the cell phones in the states are provider bound.
The provider bound smartphones are specially build for the providers. They have different hardware and firmware. Is there an international version of the I9500 that is sold in the states?
If so try to get the firmware version of that and flash it via Odin.
The other option is to contact Samsung USA, maybe they can help your friend. I can't imagine that he is the only person with this problem.

IMHO You should check if Kies detects this phone and connects to it. Also try to flash proper firmware for Your region with Odin.

Planning on buying this phone

So I was planning on buying this phone.
But before I buy this phone I have a few questions to ask.
Will this phone get official LineageOS? if yes, how long does it take?
how was your experience with the phone so far? Was it good or bad, and why?
Will the price of this phone will drop in a few weeks?(for Malaysia set)
Thank you!

My opinions:
1. It's still in the earlier stage for this phone, so LineageOS maybe take time to be "tasted".
Need some patient here..?
2. Its bad for the software. The curve aren't smooth enough at the bottom(not sure yet is that from software or hardware).
Im also facing wifi tethering problem where its connected but no internet.
(Im starving for custom rom ?)
Hardware seems to be ok but im still confuse with gsmarena n cpu-z where gsmarena state the cpu clock are 2.2GHz but the cpu-z state its only 1.96GHz.
3. This year end sale would do, maybe. Discount only.
The price trend maybe still the same just like the M1 generation.
Just sharing my opinion..

1. I dont think you will get that Lineage OS anytime soon since the TWRP for this phone not even out yet.
2. If you had used Asus Phone before, their OS is pretty plain if you compared to the features rich Samsung or Huawei. The phone is very responsive and the screen looks great compared to my Samsung A7 2017. For the amount money you pay, you get the fastest mid tier processor, 6GB RAM and 64GB Storage, nothing to complain form me. The only problem I see now is the wordings being cut at both left and right edge at the bottom, and it seems I am unable to format any of my Sandisk Ultra 128GB MicroSD as portable storage (the card was used in my Samsung phone and it works well all the time) but It can be formatted as internal storage using adoptable storage. So far I had tried 3 Ultra cards all just refuse to work properly.
3. Direct D is selling at RM999 for the 6GB version, you should be able to find some selling on Lazada or Lelong slightly cheaper, maybe RM50 or so. They are doing promotion on the M1 at RM899 for the 6GB version but when they are selling at RM999 for the M1, I can find the M1 selling for like RM859 on lazada for the 6GB version. So unless you are getting the M1, yes you can find some with reduce price if you look hard enough, but for the M2, maybe just slight cheaper than the SRP for now.
Better not to buy, phone has lot of bugs Asus never gonna fix the issues. Better to switch mi or Nokia android one series with zero bugs.
1. Will this phone get official LineageOS? if yes, how long does it take?
Let me just clarify that I am happy with stock android because I bought this phone strictly for work. I am not even going to root. However, people who want to flash custom roms have to wait. The unencrypted source code was recently released. Hopefully, development can pick up pace and there will be custom roms soon.
2. How was your experience with the phone so far? Was it good or bad, and why?
It is good. For the price I paid, this phone is performing extremely well. I debloated it as soon as I got it out of the box and now the stock android coupled with good hardware is excellent. I have not noticed the notch issues, maybe because it is a recent purchase and it was fixed, or maybe because I am using Nova launcher and the notches at the bottom seem fine to me.
The phone is fast and responsive and the battery lasts forever. Call quality, network reception, wifi/bluetooth connectivity and external storage are all working fine for me. There are no complaints.
The camera seems sub-par. I am not an experienced photographer so maybe others could use it better. The photo quality is far from what I got from my older pixel phone but I don't mind because I only use it to scan documents, for which it works well.
3. Will the price of this phone will drop in a few weeks?(for Malaysia set)
Unlikely, seeing the pricing trend of the older max pro m1 in India
Thank you for the reply!
I think will buy the phone, but not now... maybe in a few more months or when Asus decide to put an discount
Oh and yesterday(1 jan 2019) price for Max Pro M2 got 5% off to RM819... so yeah I'm gonna wait

That the reason why I asked about LineageOS(or any other custom roms). If Asus not gonna fix it, then maybe some developer will.
About switch to Mi or Nokia, I prefer to have pure android experience... I know Mi and Nokia have in Android One program but Mi don't have audio jack while Nokia too expensive for me.

Lol, he must have someone on the inside. Every oems fix the issues through updates. Max pro M1 received like 15 updates I think. So don't worry it will get fixed. This is the best mid ranger right now.
About custom roms: some members of the community were able to port twrp and also root the phone using magisk today. So the development will also Kick-start in a month or two.
Buy it if you like it. :good:

Redmi 7 won't come for another 2 3 months even if they release it in India. Both phones will be similar and similarly priced. And don't get your head churned about the 48mp camera. It's just clever advertising.

I'm more interested into small waterdrop notch and usb type-c compare with max pro m2 notch and micro usb.
to my understanding that Redmi note 7 using Samsung sensor and its only 12 MP interpolate to 48 MP but not for Redmi note 7 Pro which is using Sony imx586 that actually real 48MP
Redmi note 7 Pro will release in China in Chinese New Year(probably) and after 1 month maybe we can see this phone for global set

Does it support MHL or not ?
My decision is greatly depending on this feature, please inform me.

Help with what to install... - been out of the custom ROM world for a spell

Hello again XDA! I'm an old has-been on here that used to be big into flashing custom roms on forgotten devices, but a wife, career, and two kids put me on the "just work dammit" path for some time. I now have a 7 year old that's been using an LG tablet I got duped into buying from US Cellular (don't ask...I don't wanna rant). Dumb thing's got 16Gb ram and it's ALWAYS full. So my mom offered her old Sammy Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 (SM-T530NU) for him or my daughter to us a while back and I picked it up today. I tried to sign my son in and come to find out that the sammy is surprisingly still on Android 5 and doesn't support Google family link . I'm looking for a ROM...or something I can do to make this thing support the family link min specs, let me use an SD card instead of internal memory (since this also only has 16 GB), and still has full use of Bluetooth, cameras, mic, and Netflix/etc.
Is there ANYTHING I can "upgrade' to that would fit all this?
Just look here on this section. Before asking, look better and you will see lineage 16 and lightningfastrom 17.1. I advice you the first one.
