2. Go to system apps (in Disable Service app)
3. Select Google Services Framework > untick the option "SystemUpdateService"

done no more annoying automatic system updates....

On regular rooted moto g you can
Rename a file in /system/priv-app/
3c_ota.apk to 3c_ota.apk.bak
Restart and you should be good.

[APP][AUG 8] Google Voice 4x1 Inbox

DISCLAIMER: I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE TO ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE WHILE USING THIS PROGRAM.
ABOUT: I've modified the Google Voice Inbox widget to be 4x1. I think that the 3x1 widget is pretty weird, and I can't resize it to 4x1 on my phone since I use Sense. So I used apktool and changed the widget size to be 4x1.
This is based off the latest GVoice. I will try to update as soon as possible after an update is released.
There is no theming involved, although I may try that later.
If you want to do this yourself as a learning experience, PM me and I'll be happy to help you with the process.
What doesn't work: Nothing (as far as I can tell)
How to install: Uninstall any version of GVoice that you have already. DON'T USE ADB UNINSTALL. UNINSTALL FROM THE PHONE ITSELF. Then install this as you would any other app.
If your rom dev included GVoice under /system/app, uninstall any version in /data/app, delete the version in /system/app with adb shell, install GVoice from the market, and use the above guide.

Then dont connect to the internet until you get it fixed, you should be able to longpress the notificatio saying is downloading and itll tell you the app, find out ehat it is and disable/freeze it.

Is root necessary for this process to disable?
I rooted, installed Titanium Backup and used it to freeze these 3 apps........

I'm not sure which one controls OTA's but since I froze them, I've not had to worry about trying to stop them from happening........

Riddance of 'System update downloaded'

Does anyone have a working method of getting rid of this?
I've tried a few suggestions from around the Web but no luck.
Really irritating. Any alternative way to install it with TWRP?

Just a security update unfortunately, but haven't a clue how to get rid of it. I'd like to install it, but can't with root.

Nothing you can do, the price we pay for being rooted
If you just want to get rid of the annoying notification message then go to Settings >> Notifications >>> Select show system apps under menu >>> Google Services Framework >> Toggle all notifications to off.
You can manually update to the latest version without wiping your data. You will need to already have an unlocked bootloader though and will need to re-rrot. Instructions can be found in http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928

Google Assistant

Anyone try this yet on our phone? It's avail for all devices running 7.0 and roms
I'm on Android 7.0 on a Nexus 5x and Google Assistant is not readily available.
As far as I know it's exclusive to Pixel phones.

1) Download the 3 Files below
2) Copy all 3 Files to your device, uninstall google app.
3) Rename "tweak.prop.zip" to "tweak.prop"
4) First flash GoogleAssistantVelvet.zip
5) Then flash GoogleAssistantBuildProp.zip (this will install the "tweak.prop" into your build.prop)
**Download and install**
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=121914
then manually give permission to google app.
I tried on my marshmallow rom and it's working

Yes it's working on my Nexus 4, I'm using custom Android 7.0 Rom. All you need is root and a root explorer.
then edit build.prop and add this line 'ro.opa.eligible_device=true' and and change your product model to Pixel like this 'ro.product.model=Pixel'
