Stock Rom
Dear Gracco,
I came across your question a while ago but wasn't able to backup the firmware of my own IK8 because the device was already filled with personal apps, settings and media files. However, today I received another IK8 and I remembered this topic, so I therefore made a full backup using MTK Droidtools. This backup can be flashed onto the device using the infamous SP Flashtool. I hope this helps you and others to unbrick their device, and encourages owners of the IK8 to start developing more custom roms for this amazing smartwatch. However, as I can't keep the file on my Dropbox forever, it would be highly appreciated if someone can host the backup elsewhere.

Best regards,
Jasper

I'm trying to restore my Acer Iconia A500 back to the stock/ original ROM so that I can grab the official update in July. Is there any way to do that? I really like the custom ROMS, I just want to revert to see what it was like.

And, of course you made a backup via clockworkmod???? eh?
Why are so many not making backups of their tabs before installing unknown software?
There's lots of threads about this in the forums with instructions already. And this belongs in the General forum, not development.
Yes I'd also be interested in this. I have the droid x so when ever I want to revert to factory settings theirs a program on the computer (rsd lite) I use to revert it. So I almost never backup my roms. Now on my iconia they don't have such program. At least that I know of. So I flashed a rom on my iconia and didn't make a backup of my current one. I tried fixing it by flashing stock_acer a500.zip I thing by dexter don't quote me on that one. But it was the emea version so now its stock european and I live in america. Help is apreciated.
I'm a flashing person that has flashed many times on my phones. I forgot to make a nandroid backup of my original rom myself...so I'm not judging. I would say, flash honeyvillian, as its the closest thing to stock I've seen.
But, if your already flashing, I wouldn't want to grab the official anything...someone will post it once it comes out.

I want to flash it to the latest stock. So when ota 3.1 is released, I could rest assure knowing that my device would get updates ota.

because we are impatient and stupid
I am running to get someone with a tablet of my country to get back the STOCK ROM in case of... I am going to see if I can deal with the shop to root and recovery on SD Card the stock rom so I will be able to have the stock rom...
For USA version 1.104.02, Check out this post.. You'll probably want to skip flashing the stock recovery until you know the system will boot normally.. So from this post, run itsmagic, flash boot, flexrom and system, in that order. Preferable from an adb connection. The tablet will freeze while flashing system. Give at least 5 mintues to make sure it's complete.
You may need to do a data wipe if it bootloops (that's why you should skip flashing recovery). Once it's booting normally, you can flash the stock recovery if you want.
Alternatively, you should be able to replace the files in dexter's stock update zip with these files. But I haven't looked at that zip, so I don't know if system is an image file or a archive file.
Thanks for the replies quick question though. How do in run its magic is their a command for ADB or do I acess it via clockwork recovery?

You download it from the itsmagic thread in the development form and follow the directions in that thread.

I too would like to restore to the 3.0.1 stock rom, however my backup of the stock rom got corrupted somehow. I know it had to be something I done, but know not what it was I did. Any help would be much appreciated. Or would it be a better idea to flash the 3.1 leak?
Hello All,
New to owning an android device and so far I like it, well that is Is like android, but not the slow and sometimes laggy touchwizz
I think I want to root and flash a 4.2.2 Rom onto my phone.
I have a few questions for you guys though.
Is rooting and installing a flashed ROM easy?
Once I have gone to a flashed ROM I assume I can only update be flashing a new ROM?
Is there ever a way to put my Galaxy S4 to a state in which you'd never know it had been modyfied?
I notice there are ROMS to go back to touchwizz, do they have the automatic updates as originally intended by Samsung?
Thanks in advance

Here isn't the right place for questions. There is an exclusive section only for that. Over XDA is possible to find a lot of tutorials teaching how to root and install a custom ROM. Root is easy, it was released CF-Auto-Root, you just need install drivers, odin and flash on your phone. In order to install a rom you need to do a similar process to use custom recovery that will be able to install ROM's.
If you have i9505 you can use Triangle Away app that will erase any trace. But if you have i9500 (octa), that isn't possible (yet, as people say). But you always can return to stock rom, kernel, etc.
If i'm not saying a mistake, some rom's allow you to receive updates.
Yes it's fairly easy. There are tons of guides here and on YouTube. Takes like 2 minutes.
That's correct.
You can revert back to stock and get official updates yes. There's a tool/app called triangle away that you need to run, then boot recovery and do a wipe. After that go in to download mode and flash stock rom from Odin. Maybe this wasn't the most detailed response hehe. I always recommend to beginners to look up a guide on YouTube that shows this step by step. Then it's difficult to fail
If you run in to problems just come back here and ask. Also don't forget to do a backup of your stock rom from your recovery just in case.

It is easy and difficult at the same time
First of all, it does not hurt to be computer-savy. Your phone is a little computer, nothing else.
If you know what a Bootloader is and a Kernel and a ROM and if you know what an administrator is and if you can install Windows on a PC, you shouldn't have much troubles. Even better is when you already have some Linux knowledge.
OTOH if you are the type of person who has difficulties using a computer at all, or if you think Windows 7 is too complicated to handle, you will face more difficulties (OTOH you will learn a lot!).
So the rule of thump is:
As long as you follow instructions, but do not know what the hell you are doing, follow all instructions very closely. As you progress, you will know what you do, and then it gets much easier.
Have fun!
Done it!
Was easier than I imagined.
I've installed custom ROM's reverted back to a backup and the likes, just taking it through the motions so I know how to do everything.
My next question is.... How to I remove CWM Recovery if I want the phone to go completely back to stock?

Moved to Q&A section.
Just flash stock rom via odin founded in sammobile. there is stock roms, just put the unique file in PDA and start. It contains recovery, kernel, region customization and modem. Do wipe data and cache before flash. If it stop in boot logo, enter stock recovery and do wipe cache, and a factory reset.

I just want to add a small note here,as I just started rooting and flashing.PLEASE backup everything ,literally everything.Without backing up the state where your phone is not rooted and not flashed, there is no way you can go back to that state.
Also use nandroid backup and a backing up app which backs up your ESF files.
Hello,
I've just gotten my Galaxy S4 GE; before I did anything to it, I was wondering if there were an official site containing the stock images, like there is for Nexus devices (https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images).
If not, how can I extract the ROM (and possibily the Recovery)?
Also, as an information, I've updated right away from 4.2.2 to 4.3 via OTA. I thought that the image might still be saved somewhere onto the memory...
Thanks for your time!
Could anybody please help or give me a hint on where to look at. I'd like to have a backup of my stock S4 GE!
Thank you.

As far as I know, there is no stock image provided for the i9505G by Samsung or Google. Since this isn't a Nexus device, it doesn't have the same access to original software images.
I think the best you can do is to root the device, boot from a custom recovery, and then do a full Nandroid back-up. This keeps the device very close to stock and you end up with a path back to this state. Here's the process I used to get to the point where I could do the Nandroid backup:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365555
Use this version of CWM instead of the one listed--it's the newest version and supports Nandroid for the i9505G:
http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.6-jfltexx.img
You can find more information in the i9505G Android development forum, particularly the sticky thread at the top.
Hello!
Thanks for the answer. I'll try to do as you said. Just two things:
- Will it be possible to run the CWM without flashing it? If yes, how?
- Is the "nanadroid backup" an option on CWM labeled with this very name? (Sorry for this qustion )
Also, by chance I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368121
Isn't a dump what I'm looking for? If not, what is it then?
I understand that there's no website that provides stock images (sort of stupid from Google), but can't I get the image of the 4.3 the phone downloaded when updating via OTA in any way?? Isn't it still stored somewhere for when I do a factory reset?
Thanks again!

Following the rooting process outlined only boots up your phone using CWM recovery and doesn't flash it. Just make sure that when you're done and choose to have CWM reboot your phone, if it asks you to overwrite your phone's recovery, you choose "NO".
The backup isn't called "Nandroid" in the CWM menus. You are just given options to do a backup or restore, which uses Nandroid.

in short: i need the mojo`s stock android rom in a form wich i can flash with twrp!
Hey Guys,
i am new here. i can t undersund why i can t directly write this thread in the mojo dev section where it belongs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mad-catz-mojo/development
it says i have not enough rights for that - not understundable for me.
to the case:
already from the beginning i had the mojo, i worried becouse there were no recovery system like romanger or twrp available. i worried, if i make me the whole work, with installing configuring apps and system and an error occured, that i will have no posibility to play a working backup back and exact like that, it was comming:
suddenly sixaxis app wasn t working anymore and gave me the error-message: couldn t load hcl-library-something.
i deletet data and cache of this app, deinstalled, reinstalled, still the same proplem. so my worst nightmares came true.
now i had the choice to set the system to factory defaults (not sure if with this the spoken error were fixed) and lose everything and make the whole work again, or forget it and put the mojo to ebay or to look if in the meanwhile a recovery system is available so that i would have the whole work again, but then, through the posibility of recovery i am on the safe side.
so i decide it and i found out that now a twrp was available and and a unoffical cm12 rom:
[ROM][UNOFFICIAL][mojo] CyanogenMod 12 Mad Catz M.O.J.O: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mad.../rom-cyanogenmod-12-mad-catz-m-o-j-o-t2976401
let me say, that i am not a linuxfreak or a nerd. i see me as an enduser. i want to use things only, i don t have the time, nerves and even the intention to be more.
explanation: if you want for example fly to anywhere, you must not know how exact a plain is working, becouse you only want to use it.
so you buy an ticket jump into the plain and thats it.
i say that through i am no expert, i managed to install twrp and i managed to flash the custom rom.
then the problems began. after flashing it seems that i have no root. so i must research an half day to find out that you must hit seven times dev options to give the root setting free. i don t understund why people do this and don t give this information clear out. if anyone is able to install an costum rom, then you must not save him, with trying to hide the posiblity of root! this makes no sense for me.
my problem actual is that i need the stock rom, becouse the only thing i ever wantet was a working recovery system and this i have now.
i only installed the cm12 rom, becouse there was no stock rom, so i have had no choice.
I hope anyone can provide me the orginal mojo stock rom that i can flash it with twrp.
so if possible, please help me.
best regards

Flash, the remix OS rom first and then flash this rom. It has to do with the partition structure. i was also unable to flash the stock rom after having CM12 on my mojo, but I first flashed remix OS and then was able to flash the stock rom.
I'm now running the stock rom happily and will not go back to any custom roms. The bottom line is that there is just one dev doing custom rom work and while I appreciate his work, It just doesn't seem like any of the custom roms are there yet in regards to stability.
Is there a keyboard sequence to get into recovery? I have bricked my MOJO because I failed to realize that it failed to flash the stock firmware after I wiped it.
(EDIT) I found a solution to the above!
Okay so the method I used to get into recovery is to use the MoDaCo root tool and edit the superboot-windows.bat file and change boot.superboot.img
to twrp-2.8.7.0-mojo.img. Of course you have to have the TWRP image as well to do this. This got me into TWRP, but the following issue still stands.
Okay, I can't seem to get Remix OS or the factory rom to install, CM12 installs fine though, anyone know how to fix this?
Side note:
I have a TWRP backup of my other MOJO but TWRP doesn't see anything when I choose restore, and I have tried choosing internal and SD card for the source to no avail, does anyone know how to get around that? Or is this just a current issue with this version of TWRP on the MOJO?

Thought Id throw you a reply until some proper answers find you, since I have the same phone but model g361f and the lack of support/development atm drives me mad, my old phone was rooted awesomeness but have to use this, its gift from girlfriend:laugh:Anyway, Forgive me if Im wrong here, just a quick suggestion for you, just going through the ordeals of softbricking myself into the early hours until i succeed myself so I stand to be corrected.
backing up firmware rooted is possible easily I know, but for non root, you can install a custom recovery cant you, so id look into path of using that for some online backup nandroid etc. If you cant get custom recovery forgive me,just my 2 cents edit* just read there having unlocked bootloader may be factor and CWM recovery may not be able to backup fully non rooted, no help at all I know Im sure someone will have a concise option for you,
Personally Id jus titanium backup my data and go for the root head on, but Im here bootlooping because my recovery is not seandroid enforcing,if it had a throat id enforce its seandroid alright and strangle it until it boots, so be safe rather than sorry right?, Im sure its easily done, backing up stock firmware compared to backing up your phones data, if there isnt much difference in terms of what you want to preserve, then just go for it if you mess up just install clean stock rom and restore backup. Good luck anyway
