I have a view questions because i am really in doubt about what phone to get.
The HD or the X1
hd because of the big screen and i love the tf3d.
x1 because of the keyboard (never had a sm with keyboard) and flash
What i would like to know about the X1 is:
1. the screen resolution is the same as the HD, but in a smaller screen.
so this means that everything is smaller on your screen.
does this make if difficult to use your fingers to use the phone?
2. if i am not mistaking, the screen is not on the surface but its a little lower.
does this make it difficult to use your fingers (for X button and stuff like that)
3. is the flash on the camera any good?
4. how good is the software? is there a nice softkeyboard?
how much is standard windows? (like phone cal, write a sms, look in contacts ect.)
5. is opera browser installed on it and default?
6. any you tube app like on the diamond?
7. i listen music a lot when i am on the road.
is it easy to use?
is the sound good?
is it smooth when doing other things on the phone or will you notice the phone having to perform more?
8. is there an easy way to rotate the screen when you want?
seeing there is no accelerometer
9. for the users who used the diamond
do you regret the switch or are you satisfied?
(mainly because of the panels vs tf3d and screen)
thanks for taking the time
U can use Tf3d on the Xperia and all ur problems is solved u get the best of both =)
I don't own it yet, but I can tell u my impression about it judging from others

it's very standard windows mobile compare to it's rivals (samsung and htc)
no it doesn't have any software keyboard but the standard windows one, but don't worry, you can install replacements, one of the best right now is the touch HD's keyboard, it's already here check the other thread
about other softwares, well they're pretty crap, but I personally already have a lot of essential 3rd party softwares waiting to be installed once I got the phone.
1. the screen resolution is the same as the HD, but in a smaller screen.

does this make if difficult to use your fingers to use the phone?
yeah everything is smaller on the screen, using your fingers only on the screen is alright but dont expect to type with the built in on screen keyboard with ur hand.. its bloody useless without the stylus..
2. if i am not mistaking, the screen is not on the surface but its a little lower.
does this make it difficult to use your fingers (for X button and stuff like that)
erm.. i dont think it makes it more difficult, i have no problem pressing the x button although u can just press the ok button on the bottom much easier..
3. is the flash on the camera any good?
nope.. its basically a flashlight from the old se phones...
4. how good is the software? is there a nice softkeyboard?
how much is standard windows? (like phone cal, write a sms, look in contacts ect.)
everything is standard windows i think.. phone cal, contacts, sms and all..
5. is opera browser installed on it and default?
yepp but its semi useless (at least on mine..) for some reason if i use opera and type an address with the hardware keyboard the area where u enter text keeps dissapearing.. and it wont work most of time time unless you are on hspda..
6. any you tube app like on the diamond?
havent found one yet, the one on the tf3d dont work..
7. i listen music a lot when i am on the road.
is it easy to use?
is the sound good?
is it smooth when doing other things on the phone or will you notice the phone having to perform more?
cant really answer that.. as i use my iphone for that..
8. is there an easy way to rotate the screen when you want?
seeing there is no accelerometer
yeah flip the screen up and it rotates...
9. for the users who used the diamond
do you regret the switch or are you satisfied?
(mainly because of the panels vs tf3d and screen)
dont have a diamond but i installed tf3d on mine..

It is smaller but I have no problems accessing things. In standard WinMo apps is can be a little annoying but you get used to it
2. if i am not mistaking, the screen is not on the surface but its a little lower.

'Slight' recess but no issues
3. is the flash on the camera any good?
It is weak - I wouldn't rely on it. I am thinking primarily as a very weak torch rather than a flash
4. how good is the software? is there a nice softkeyboard?
how much is standard windows? (like phone cal, write a sms, look in contacts ect.)
Standard WinMo - same as Touch HD and Daimond. WinMo is almost designed for you to run third party apps!
5. is opera browser installed on it and default?
Opera is installed, but it isn't default. A simple registry hack cures it. In my case it works absolutely fine on 3g/HSDPA or wireless. A very good mobile browser
6. any you tube app like on the diamond?
Nope. But if you get Coreplayer you can access youtube from there
7. i listen music a lot when i am on the road.
is it easy to use?
is the sound good?
is it smooth when doing other things on the phone or will you notice the phone having to perform more?
Haven't done an extended test but it appears absolutely fine. Again get a third party app to get the most out of it but of course with all players your headphones will make a difference
8. is there an easy way to rotate the screen when you want?
seeing there is no accelerometer
Open the keyboard or you can assign one of the bottom softkeys to do this
9. for the users who used the diamond

I have used the Diamond and it is good, but the TouchFlo 3D does become a bit 'meh' to me after a while. I find the SPB Mobile Shell Panel (free download from SE site) to be far better for my needs!
thanks for taking the time

No problems! To be honest I had the same dilemma but I felt the Touch HD was just a bit too big for portability. The SE for me is the perfect phone! I am definitely glad I got it
Thanks for the comments!
so one more question
are you satisfied?
what is in your own opinion the pros and cons of this device.
in general and in comparison with diamond/pro/hd
soft and hardware
Pros
excellent screen
TT7 (GPS) works great
Reception and 3G reception very strong
Panels concept (yes I do like it - I believe there will be better panels coming out and the Radio Panel (best radio i've had on a mobile device!) and SPB Shell Panel show what is possible...
Quality contruction
Hardware keyboard (not a huge fan of software keyboards)
Works well as a phone (has the feeling of a phone i.e. not too wide etc.)
Cons
WinMo 6.1 is not really finger friendly
Camera (good during the day - not much use during the night)

One other question i thought of is:
On my diamond i use S2U2 to prevent my screen to be pushed when in my pocket.
this because i dont like the one windows mobile offers (with 2 taps)
is there a different solution made by se?
or..........?
I want to ask too, does X1 has audio recorder app that not just to record incoming call?
I own a Touch Pro and a X1 and I really think X1 is the best phone ever done. And finallly the GPS lag is gone¡¡¡

X1 has the ordinary WM lock function. You activate it by a long press on the end call button. Unlocking is the same as usual, press left soft button and then Unlock button on the display.
Actually you can press any button (Panel, OK, Volume etc.) and then right soft button to unlock also, call it a feature or a bug.
I prefer using a short press on the powerbutton to simply switch off the display. This locks all keys and the display as well. One more press and your back.

The screen get's activated, but after the set time for the screensaver it's blank again. You can set it to wake up on any button or just the power button. So if you press a button while trying to get it out of your pocket and there just has been a missed call so the screen is on, it is not key locked. Small risk though.

It's the normal windows screen. The left soft button silence the call, the right replies with a standard text message.
I'm have slight buyers remorse, but I have a few more days till I can't return it for a full refund. I hoping to find out if any of the issue I have with the Note 3 or more accurately touchwiz will be able to be solved. I'm coming from a history of running customs ROMS on my galaxy S1 and galaxy S2, most of the time cyaogenmod. Lucky I find touchwiz has improved but here are my over all gripes:
Can't change the vibration pattern for notifications, most importantly text messages and emails. You can create customs patterns but they are only for calls. This is my biggest problem right now. And the fact that clearing a message from the notification bar doesn't mark it as read is annoying.
I would love on screen buttons, with this much screen restate it's a great phone for on screen buttons, I also find getting low enough to press the capacitive buttons with my thumb and still holding the phone a bit difficult and I think I would have no trouble if there was on screen buttons. - SoftKey Enabler, requires root- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fatedevgroup.softkeyenabler&feature=search_result
Home buttons wakes the phone - Fixable by mod or wanam http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477150
Double home press open magazine - Settings in Magazine, gesture disable can be done by freezing magazine in titanium
Replace S Voice with google voice. - Freeze with titanium then use double tap to get to google voice
Remove all toggles from notification area, have all the toggles in the toggle pane
Remove the persitant icons from the task bar (blocking mode, smart stay, NFC)
All logs in phone log - fixable with app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.log.converter.ics
I really got used and liked the pop up/quick message window option that cyaogenmod had. I would like that along with the removal of chat bubbles.
I also liked black/Holo design, I sure this can and will come some how. Also we'll see how kitkat ends up looking...
How likely is it that my gripes with touchwiz can be fixed, yet still stay on touchwiz framework due to not wanting to lose functionality? I am aware it will require root and most likely a custom ROM, but if I was able to start out with just some modifications to stock rom, that might be a good start. I might find out but 1-4 are my biggest complaints. I love the note 3's hardware, but I'm hoping the roms/touchwiz won't push me toward the nexus 5....
One additional question, all these model numbers are confusing as hell. I have the N900W8, will that hinder my ability to use custom roms? Is it an equivalent to another model number? (X-Note is the only roms I've seen so far the explicitly says its compatible with the 900W8)

Edited with solutions in blue. I haven't tried them yet
If you open Magazine and hit menu, then choose Settings, you can turn the double home press off from in there.
The swipe from the bottom gesture can't be disabled short of doing something like freezing Magazine with Titanium Backup.

A fwlew of these things are easily fixed with xposed wanam module. You need to be rooted though. As for Google voice, freeze svoice (maybe you can just clear defaults, but I froze it) then when you double tap home, you'll be given options in what you want that to do.

looking how to change these. hmm
My menu position is at the top right now, where it used to be on the bottom. I liked it better at the bottom. I did switch phones, I came from an S III that had Paranoid Android 3.99RC2 on it, and now have a LG G2 with the most recent CM11 nightly on it. So, is the menu button a CM thing, or a Kit Kat thing? Or was the bottom menu a PA thing? I want to put it back at the bottom if there is a way to do that.
Also, another unrelated question, is there a way to make the home button also the 'most recent' button by holding it down?
For the second question, to deal with it for now, I just put the side menu button on at all times and put the recent activity button where I usually put the menu button, but I'd still like to have it back to the setup I am used to.

Hi, most phones I've used have a menu button which you can long-press to pop open/closed the software keyboard, which is invaluable for searching/filtering menus and lists, or checking under the keyboard for text/UI that's hidden by it... this was an important compromise for a software keyboard since you can't access it any other way if you can't open it.
The S5 doesn't have a menu button, and long-pressing the other buttons doesn't open the keyboard. What gives? Is there any way to get this functionality back or reprogram the buttons? or am I just stuck without a keyboard when the device doesn't want to open one for me, and stuck with one when it does?

Most phones don't have that feature, so you are just missing a feature that you like that happened to be on your previous phones.
The S5 will auto open the keyboard whenever you are in an app or editable line where text can be typed. I gind that that works just fine. You could remap a hardware key with an app like xposed. You can probably assign that function to the floating toolbox. Or use one of the myriad third party apps to pull up the keyboard from a swiping gesture. Or in many other ways.
The S5 menu can be pulled up in most screens by a long press on the recent key i.e. the softkey to the left of the home button.
.
Where do you need a keyboard besides of when the system opens it for you if you have to write something down?

Hmm, a swiping gesture seems like it might be a halfway workable solution. I really don't like the toolbox or the swipe in/out menus though. They just get in the way of interacting with the UI in normal ways. Unfortunately there is no workable way for me to root this device for me to use xposed.

But this isn't a desktop OS. It is an OS running on a device that has a very constrained amount of physical space. If you don't like the design decisions and tradeoffs, then knock yourself out customizing your phone.
Nevertheless the design works very well for the vast majority of users. If you always want ready access to a keyboard, you should consider getting a physical, RF or bluetooth keyboard.

Believe me, I would sell my firstborn son to the robot devil for a modern android with a decent physical keyboard... It just happens that nobody makes one.
But that's besides the point. I'm talking about functionality of the soft keyboard, and UX in general. It would be much better if I could open the keyboard when I want to, and that's what I want to do.
Why do it that way when you can just use Multi window and add a shortcut to every app using Multi window manager and all you do is long press the back key and you've got all your shortcuts.
So I got my grey Axon 7 yesterday and after a whole day of playing around with things, I have come up with a short list of things I would love to see implemented into a custom ROM. I do not care if it is a modded-stock ROM, enhanced version of CM- but these things would make my experience so much better.
1. Camera fixes - Specifically, the front-facing camera. If this can be done on the software side, that is my main concern.
2. Lockscreen - Please please please implement an always-on feature that works properly. Coming from the Moto X pure, it has been less than awesome having to press the power button to see a notification, or use the slow DTTW.
3. Get rid of that stupid bell! We all hate the bell. Get rid of the bell. It is not charming. It is not fun.
4. Enable on-screen nav buttons - The capacitive buttons are surprising decent, but I would rather use on-screen buttons myself.
5. Screen-on-time stats- Yes I know I can use GSAM or BBS for this, but there is no place in the huge menu of power options to see the actual screen-on-time for the device. Extremely silly.
6. This one is a long shot, but the double tap to wake is very very slow. This might be a kernel thing and farther down the line, but I would love to see the double tap activate faster.
Anyone have things on their wishlist? Post them!
Native notification badges.
When I swipe the drawer down, I wish the functions (wifi, bluetooth etc) would scroll left and right to access the rest.
Customizable quick settings would be nice. Including adding DND and other options to the options.
- Black/dark theme with this Amoled display
- optional on-screen buttons
- advanced usage of fingerprintscanner, like: flashlight if long pressed while in standby, multi-way scrolling (remember those HTC home buttons that had a scroll function integrated), gestures (quick cam access...)
- two colored dual led for better white tones
- improved cam software specially for low light environment
- aosp edition
- released sources for all proprietary devices like OP3 did

CyanogenMod / sultan rom with xposed module. The hardware is good on the phone but the software is mediocre. Sometimes I double tap and nothing happens or its super delayed. My OPO running sultan responds immediately on any double to wake. The fingerprint reader can be finicky.
I would move to the axon 7 fully Tomorrow if CyanogenMod rom was available. Right now I am just testing it out and contemplating whether to send it back.
Oh and I hate that dang notification bell. I don't understand the thought process at axon 7 that thought some things would be a good idea. The capacitive buttons also annoy me highly. They are too close together and not backlit. If in the future you want to use a custom ROM and use on screen buttons you'll still have those permanently viewable capacitive buttons there. That was terrible idea from axon. I wish I could find the person but who sitting at meeting and said "that's a great idea" and have a strong conversation with them.
The axon 7 is so close to being a fantastic phone but the software, poorly optimized implementations and capacitive buttons are really limiting to it.
Hoping custom ROMs come to the rescue. The screen and general hardware are all great. Even the camera could be improved through software. ZTE is really in an important time now to foster the phone. If they don't embrace that I think the axon 7 will be a "it was almost great phone" and forgotten. Remember the new Nexus is coming out soon so they will be soon overshadowed. Not to mention the op3 is still a great phone with wonderful software implementation.

The software can be better, and that's something that ZTE can actually change.
so they are blind or what? if this is from software.
@lcatel idol 3 6039h
My only wish is improve system and increase the battery, that's it.
I just got the phone and I'm not sure I would keep it as the software is really the weak spot. The OnePlus 3 software is perfect, it does everything I need and the OP's needs as well. The hardware isn't as feature rich as the Axon 7. If Cyanogenmod 14 comes out for this phone, it'll be a winner. Then we just need a CM14 based custom rom that would be great. Right now I would love to have the OnePlus 3 rom on the Axon 7. I could use the on-screen buttons or not and switch buttons as well as customize the function. That's what Axon 7 should have. ZTE is much bigger company than OnePlus they need to get their act together.
simple. just take this phone and make the screen 6 inches. add an FM chip, IR blaster, and wireless charging. Perfection!!!!
Edit:and a digital tv tuner like The Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV
Edit:UFS sdcard support
I believe the phone is perfect, but here are my thoughts:
1- The impossible one: Light up those capacitive buttons!!
2-Maybe give us the option for onscreen navigation buttons?
That's it.

You could use ACDisplay in the meantime. It's similar to the Moto phones' notification screen, and it works great.
Camera updates
Kernel updates
Android n
Android n themed notification panel
Stock android lock screen
Ram optimisations & zram implementations.
Hifi dac and Dolby for all apps.
On screen buttons. My only gripe. Can't believe they won't even give the choice right now. Sucks that they will always be visible as well... Such potential but so disappointed.

Post them!
