Touch screen lag fix found!! - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) General

For all those with the note 10.1 2014 that have input touch lag, and have to press icons and buttons numerous times for it to register, I found a fix.. There's an app called SGS screen booster. Install it and move the first bar past the default value, check start with boot and the higher the value, the more responsive the screen is. Found it to be very helpful for me, when I found myself constantly pressing the screen multiple times to register what I wanted on the screen.

Don't know if this app has already been discussed lol.

What setting are you using?

In the app I set the sensitivity to 65 and the duration to touch at 1. Everything else is default

Annoying browser issue

Need a little help. I'm currently the lastest syndicatfrozen rom. I ran into a small annoying problem. When I'm using the browser I noticed that I can no longer long press on the screen and copy a text from the page. I know I can go into settings and select text buts its no where nearly as acurate as being able to do it from the screen. I was use to being able to highlight what I wanted and having the option of copying text translating or searching the text just long press on the screen. Is there a way I can get that feature back.

Home screen reloading issue - fix

I've been experiencing this quite a lot
Surfing the net pressing home button and find the home screen reloads. So bit of a lag which is very annoying, until samsung sort this out with a software update there is a work around. Simply disable s-voice from.settings that's it. I haven't actually experienced screen reload since.
Let me know if this works for you or not.
Try this
Untick under s-voice settings the following:
Launch S Voice
Wake up command
Under application manager go to running select s-voice and stop all services.
Go to all and disable s-voice. This will remove the app from app draw list too, you can also disable chat on app too.
This should stop the app running in the background.
My mate has got this phone has has also experienced this problem a bit as well.
I was just wondering when you say 'disable s voice' do you just mean just disable s voice opening when double pressing the home button? Or is there a setting to actually turn it off?
Yer had same issue, disabled see voice, all good

I would also like to know this. I stopped s voice opening when I double tap home button. That fixed the home button lag, however, I'm still experiencing the ocassional reload of the home screens.

Another nice side effect is it makes the phone feel alot snappier because it removes the home button lag.
EDIT: should have refreshed the thread :/ mattyt_491 was faster.. I don't think there is a way to disable it completely (without rooting) I didn't have any reloads since I disabled the double click. Then again I restarted the phone and it usually takes half a day or so to start happening..

Guys don't get frustrated. As per thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694508&page=3, just set the size of dalvik cache to 128MB and everything will be fine. My personal experience, just perform these two extra steps:
1. Use Nova Launcher or Apex, takes less memory
2. Use 2D rendering from developer options, It does not make it slow at all.
3. From developer option, limit background processes to 4. Trust me you will not notice it.
4. And yes, disable S voice after you are done with initial experiment. Its not useful for anything.
And my phone is working snappier as it was when I opened the box. I will update it after few day's use. Running smoothly for 2 days. Today is third.

Why don't I have this problem? I think it's be ause I usually check what's open and close things. You should go into deb settings and have 4 processes max to test if it really is your memory or you just need to reflash.

I'm having the same problem.
Is rooting the phone and making these adjustments the only solution to this issue?
Switching off S-voice did work temporarily, but the problem has returned.
I'm new to andorid having just switched over from the dark side of iOS. Is Samsung likely to fix this in a coming update?
I find it hard to believe they didn't spot this in pre-testing the phone.
Thanks
I don't have this problem too. Strange.

[Q] Nexus 4 swipe to wake up??

I just get my new Nexus 4 recently, and when I first used it, I noticed the only way to wake up the phone is to press the power button....
which I dont like,I prefer to swipe it and the phone will light up.....
So I search this forum and some people recommend the Touch Control app....
So I root my device and install the free trial version of Touch Control....
Then I removed this app, and now I found out my phone can still be wake up by swiping across the screen....
A bit surprised and confused....has any one experienced this?
Install it again, and check the settings to see if you can disable it. Then uninstall

[Q] Disable keylights on PAC

Hey just signed up with my new email and I am unable to post of the PAC forum yet. so i figured i would get some help here. Anybody have any idea how to disable the back and menu key backlight. I hate the lights coming on even for just a second, its a unnessecary (but small) battery drain, and i really like how flat and black my phone looks and would rather not have those buttons show.
You may disable key light as it. Setting/my device/display /touch key light duration /always off. If I helped. Press the thanks button.

Thank you but i think that is how to disable to lights on the stock rom. I am using the 9/4 nightly of the PAC rom. the setting is not under display and lights.
It used to be under advanced settings. that is no longer an option. any ideas?
Use a different launcher like nova, apex or adw, long press the home screen and add shortcut. Add advanced settings. There ya go

Move settings across to the left so you get the screen with PAC settings scroll to 'buttons' down the bottom and you can turn them off in there

This helped me a lot with my lag

1. First, install the ota updates and reset the device.
2. Then:
' LAG ISSUES CAN BE IMPROVED, READ HERE:
Turn on developer options by tapping "build number" found in the "about" section within options 7 times. Once developer options are turned on, scroll down to window animation transition animation, animator duration and turn each one off. You will notice no more lag for scrolling and exiting apps. To solve the home button issue where there is lag, go to S voice. Once in S voice, hit the menu button left of the home button. Choose to not initiate S voice by double tapping the home button. You will notice considerable changes in speed of the home button to wake up the screen.'
3. Oh yeah and also, don't use Chrome. Get Dolphin Browser. Much faster, no choppiness, and better on the battery.

Does pressing the home button bring up My Magazine like it does on the Note 3? I've disabled this from app settings to remove the home button delay but you can still bring it up by swiping up on home screen.
I don't mean to poop on this thread, but the exact same things were covered on this forum already.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2479320
But if anyone is too lazy to look at another thread, another thing you can do is disable the unlock screen effects and just have a normal unlock screen. The ripple affect takes up about 50+mb of ram and requires CPU and GPU usage for its effects.

I just turned the lock screen off totally. Kind of pointless for me on a 10 inch tablet.
Also I have not done a factory reset for any on the 3 ota updates. Are the improvements that big because mine is pretty snappy as is.

As far as I am briefly see, that thread doesn't cover entering developer mode and disabling animations, or disabling svoice.
