Hi. This is an LG G3 forum, not samsung. LG does not uses ODIN to flash. And, at the moment, without a unlocked BL is impossible to flash a full recovery. The TWRP team has not released any version for G3.

So no working twrp recovery for g3 yet?

Until the lg g3 doesn't gets the bootloader unlocked we will not have a custom recovery 100% functional.

I have a functioning version of TWRP on my tmobile g3 but that doesn't mean a newer version can not be ported to the g3.if that were true I wouldn't have TWRP on my phone right now. I'm guessing you're one of the unlucky g3 owners on one of the three locked networks?

You have this version http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/recovery-twrp-2-7-1-3-t2831668 right?
Then this is not a flashable custom recovery. I have a D855 with unlocked network from factory and the bootloader is locked. As far I know, all versions of the LG g3 have locked bl. Doesn't matters the network. Or I'm wrong, in this case please help me because I need it to make backups and restore.
Please, can you explain how to flash? Not from adb. From flashtool. I cannot find any way to flash a FULL custom recovery. At the moment, the only recovery we have is a tethered recovery. Hopefully this will change soon...
Anyway, as you can see in teamwin official web site there is not any version for our g3 (any variants).

This will only work for the T-Mobile G3 with the unlocked boot loader. If you do not have the T-mobile Version DO NOT try this.
There is a fix for the mini screen you are talking about. You need to update TWRP to a newer version, which can be found here
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/d851 titled "openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.3-d851.img"
Once the file is download, transfer the file to your phone.
1. Download Flashify from Playstore
2. Open Flashify and click on Recovery Image
3. A popup will come up, click Choose a file
4. Locate the file on your phone titled "openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.3-d851.img"
5. Click on the file and a pop up will appear, click "Yup"
6. Boot to recovery to make sure everything went well
There is also another method to flash recovery(using ADB), but this is the easiest. If you are having any trouble let me know

That is not the recovery he is talking about. It seems he has the Tmobile G3, which is the only model that comes shipped with an unlocked bootloader. There is no way at this moment to unlock the bootloader on the other network providers.

Yes, Tmobile is the only one with the bootloader unlocked at the moment. LG did state that they are planning to offer an option to unlock the bootloader in the future, but so far nothing on that.

There probably won't be one. Loki has been patched, and looks to be permanent. Even DrJbliss said he doesn't think its possible now with the way they patched.
Its pretty safe to say the only way to get a recovery again will be to roll back.

That is not 100% accurate. I have the sprint version and can confirm that it IS possible to have TWRP on this phone with the latest kitkat firmware (4.4.2), the only problem is it breaks download mode, but there is a way to get it back as well and the devs are working on getting them both working at the same time. Additionally, I realize that the OP does not have a Sprint model phone, but if it is possible on one carrier, I would not say it's impossible on another carrier so there is hope.

I have no reason to lie, but you can check out this thread to see it for yourself. I have done this myself and can confirm that I had TWRP working with kitkat on my Sprint LG G2 variant phone. I have since went back to stock rooted because I did not like not having download mode, but as I said it has been done (for the Sprint variant atleast) so there is hope.
BTW. It should go without saying that you should NOT try this method unless you have the Sprint variant of the G2 as it will definitely not work with other carriers and will more than likely hard brick your device and even if you do have a Sprint variant make sure to read the instructions carefully and fully understand what you are doing before doing anything. You have been warned / advised.
Additionally, I am not a dev and I did not come up with or take any credit for this or any other guide. I am simply passing the information along.

I was under the impression that the OP wants to take the OTA, root and flash TWRP. That isn't possible. That part I'm 100% correct on. But the method you linked to for Sprint is available for all other variants I've seen so far, similar anyway. Including VZW. That's why I said roll back, you have to be on the Jelly Bean bootloader.
What's that mean? I cant get TWRP on my d802?

I was thinking that I was going to give TWRP for the international version a try until they make one specifically for the VZN variant. You can backup your rom and stuff but if you want to restore it you'll need to change the build.prop to reflect an international variant of the phone.
The code would be KLTE

I am unable to boot into bootloader on ATT model :/
Lol as expected from Sprint and AT&T. Dont get me wrong, i wish they had bootloader unlocked because the more bootloaders unlocked for different carriers, the more chances to duplicate the amount of developments/roma/mosa/kernels etc.... Now, having only Tmobile as the only one with unlocked bootloader, well, devs who use carrier such as AT&T and Sprint might get further away from developments on LG V20. (I'm a LG V20 Tmobile variant owner)
im not to familiar with LG, but the correct way is to power off the device, hold volume down, insert USB cable?
one would think even if locked, it could still enter the bootloader. adb works, and when i reboot recovery, i get to recovery, but when selecting reboot bootloader, the device starts. interestingly enough, it will enter in adb sideload mode
With Google obviously not wanting unlocked handsets or rooted handsets to be common... This kind of thing is going to be the norm. Best to adapt, in the long term. The days of modding are being ended by Google

Dont try to flash the kdz, you will brick your device.......................... I never said anything about flashing the kdz................
I learned a long time ago in my G3 days, Kernel deving which I still do for the HTC10 now, but the LG Korean Editions are the same hardware that the T-Mobile Editions use...........
Look on this thread for when I ported the Korean MM rom over before it was released for T-Mobile.......................
When you work with enough kernels like I do, and you should know the kernel is the main part for hardware controlling, you get to understand your device and any device that pertains to it,
The defconfig for the G3 f400 was a perfect match to the defconfig of the G3 D851 -T-Mobile, except F400 had one exra part that didnt make much of a dif........
Out of the 9 variants that LG Put out for the G3 only 1 device came close to the D851 T-Mobile, and that was the f400 Korean edition................
Now do you understand how I know this? Unless LG changed something to keep it from booting on anything other then the intended device, It should boot on our device with the proper extracting and fix
ups.............
Do not flash the KDZ, you will brick your device....................................................... Only 2 parts of that whole KDZ can be used.. and thats boot and system ................
and system has to have some modifications done to it, or playstore will keep crashing.............................
I went though all this on the MM port as well.......... took me 2 days to figure out what it was............................
When I ported the MM over to the T-Mobile Edition, I ran it for 4 days with a few testers, on the 4th day I released it to the public, 45 mins later t-mobile tweeted they are releasing MM that day............
So I know LG/T-Mobile troll this Forum.......... maybe not as much anymore since v20 is surpassed the v10 ..
thank you eliminator for the explanation. i was completely lost and almost bricked my phone.
Could you please mention clearly that flashing KDZ files on DIFFERENT VARIANTS will BRICK DEVICE
It is most important.
THANKS

man..... I love the V10 so much I just don't think it got enough public attention to be in enough peoples hands like Devs who could get a bunch of working and stable ROMs. Kinda sad really when this phone is really underrated.

I have thought about messing with this.. but I have no desire really to do it...............
I am busy with my other projects................

how can we motivate you to work on this device?
I was able to make a flash able zip from the f600k but it just loops at the bootloader so I'm gonna try the other two tomorrow
No one needs to hack on this. In a few months time the builds for our versions of the V10 will be released and then hopefully we can use dirty cow to root them the same as we did marshmallow.
