I have installed 10.5.1.A.0.283 on my XPeria Z.
But i could not Root it, even the Towel Root does not work on this device with this Software. So maybe someday this How to is no longer needed. :-/
So i tried to make my own Root Method and it worked.
I tried it with an clean Installation and it worked nice. So if you want to keep your Data and so on, so select the appropriate Options in the Flashtool.
What do i need?
1. Unlocked Bootloader... Google it, there you should be enough, how to unlock it (the easist way is over the Flashtool if you already got your code)
2. the Flashtool http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
3. an Firmware File. (Since the Flashtool (latest Version) can Download the latest Software by its Self, you do NOT need such an File)
4. the Superuser ZIP --> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.superuser
Direct Link http://download.clockworkmod.com/superuser/superuser.zip.
5. The Doomlord Kernel --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/cwm-based-recovery-6-0-4-6-root-xperia-t2167381
even if it is actualy not supported for the 10.5.1.A.0.283 Firmware. (But it is only needed for installing the superuser.zip)
How to do?
Like i said i made an clean Install.
1. Install the Flashtool
2. Install the needed Drivers (can be found in the Flashtool /Drivers Folder)
3. Start The Flashtool (depending on your System take the Flashtool or Flashtool64.exe)
4. Go to the Devices --> Check Updates Menu and select Xperia Z
5. Then Select your Phone Model, (I took c6603)
6. Select the Variant you have/want (i took the customized UA Version) Double Click on it to see what Version it actualy has.
7. If you found the right, double Click on it to download it, this tooks an little bit of Time. Then the Files are Decrypted needs also a little Bit of time.
8. Than there should open an Window called Bundler. So Press Shift+End to select all files and move them to the right Tab with the "->" Button and click "create"...
9. Now shut down your Phone. And click the Flash Button, select Flashmode. Select the Firmware you want to Flash.
AND HOW I SAID if you want to keep the Data and so on. You must Select or deselect what you need or not at this Point.
10. Press the Flash Button. It tooks a little Bit of Time and than you must connect the Device in Flashmode Press the Volume lower Button and hold it than attach the USB Cable if the Flashtool says it.
After some Minutes Later you have the Latest Sony Software for this Device.
How to Root?
1.Shut down the Device
2. Click the Flash Button in the Flashtool and select Fastboot Mode than you select the boot.img in the Doomlord Tab (select Kernel to Flash). Hold the Volume up Button and Connect the USB. Wait some Seconds than you have this Kernel installed.
4. Disconnect the Phone and switch it on, if the LED lights up press and hold the Volume down key. Than it should start in one of the Recovery tools, there you should choose the supersu.zip which you had copied to your external SDCARD before
Install it. After that switch the Phone off.
5. Because this Doomlord Kernel does not work with this Firmware Version, you need to restore the Original Kernel from the 10.5.1.A.0.283 Firmware.
Click on the Flashtab in the Flashtool select Flashmode and than select the 10.5.1.A.0.283 Firmware. BUT NOW deselect all in the Wipe Section. And select all in the Exclude section except the Kernel.
So that only the Kernel will be flashed. If you are asked from the Flashtool press and hold the Volume down Button and attach the USB Cable. Than the Flashing begins.
FINISH
Now you should have an rooted 10.5.1.A.0.283 Xperia Z with the Original Kernel
There is NO warranty for this HowTo. You should Backup all Data before you do this. You do this at your OWN risk.

Thanks. I added this.
What?? why not just flash .230 kernel, use towelroot and flash back .283 kernel??
Unlocking bootloader is not at all required. Instead of using doom kernel,
Flash the old 10.5.A.0.230 kernel,
Root it using towelroot,
Then flash back the 10.5.1.A.0.283 kernel!

Generic UA (Ukraine) that I downloaded myself with Flashtool.
It seems smoother than 4.4.2 to me. Battery life is about the same for me.

STEPS
1. FIND ANY 4.0.3 kernel , try downloading kernel file from NEO section
[before flashing : make USB debugging , unknown sources - ON ]
2. Flash it with flashtool
3. But your phone will show blackscreen (because locked bootloader - mismatched kernel ) but that doesnt mean you cant connect through ADB
4. So download DOOMLORD 's easy root toolkit for ics
5. switch on the phone (after removing battery and putting it back in )
6. connect to pc
7. open toolkit you downloaded
8. when the key leds light up - press enter in toolkit and it'll do the rest
9. after rooting - flash 4.0.4 kernel from the 4.0.4 firmware ( its available in xda now)
there you go -a rooted pro
I know that this method exits and most knows but for XPERIA PRO ( MK16i )
there's no kernel or ftf (4.0.3) anywhere as it wasn't released.
thanks for those who created the toolkit and posted a the firmwares
UPDATED : About the toolkit in the link
The toolkit provided have a 1.15 busybox ver , which is very old (have permission setting problems) , so please download the gingerbread toolkit (by the same guy) in which there is a much newer busybox and replace the file inside "files/" in the toolkit folder . you can also put v3.1 su binary for segfault fixes
OR just copy the files attached "files.rar"

Yes it does work . The phone shuts down after fully loading (at xperia logo - ie when key lights up) but thats all the toolkit needs as it pushes files and reboots.
And yes dont forget to close flashtool and pc companion , if it runs in background it wont work

If anyone wants to try, I flashed the 4.0.3 kernel file from Neo/V topic (4.1.A.0.562):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26798415&postcount=141
Then extracted the 4.0.4 kernel from original .ftf file (got from official ICS update topic), flashed it and restarted the phone. Root Root!!

You'll have to download the full ftf , then flash it with flashtool by excluding the system in the flashtool . ie just flash the kernel only ( also check "no verification")

The link I posted is having Europe keyboard layout , there's also another link which have another layout in the same topic by Jozinek try checking it out. And I meant to exclude the system only because you'll have already flashed this FTF and rooted it , so if the layout BALTIC (Europe or any other , other than africa i think ) works for you then you dont need to worry about wrong key layout.
I hope that helps

I ve updated the thread with attached full busybox file and v3.1 su binary file (segfault fix)
STOCK ROM Xperia Z (C6603) 10.4.1.B.0.101 Generic UA (Unbranded Ukraine)
Hi all, this is my first take at creating a flashable zip which I tested and found working on my Unlocked Bootloader Xperia Z (C6603)
Stock ROM uploaded by @smardu http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50203976&postcount=68
Created using @[NUT]'s DIY Guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2307311 to create a flashable zip rooted with SuperSU, init.d & BusyBox built in with @[NUT]'s XZ Dual Recovery v 2.7.62
I have tested it on my Unlocked Bootloader Xperia Z (C6603) and found working. I have NOT tested on Locked Bootloader. If you are willing to try and let me know!
How I updated:
1. Make a nandroid backup just in case
2. Flash the flashable zip using PhilzTouch (only tested using PhilzTouch Recovery) - I am not sure if it will work on other recoveries
3. Once completed, do not restart your phone, power off the phone instead
4. Connect in Flashmode and Flash the Kernel
5. Reboot and once loaded into system, it should start showing Android is upgrading
I did not clear data or cache before flashing and so far it is working fine with me.
I have also included links to @[NUT]'s latest XZ Dual Recovery v 2.7.85-BETA.flashable as well as the working Xposed Installer Framework for 4.3.

I got a weird issue after flashing this rom..when my phone booted up for 1st time i got this repair icon in my screen, with the loading blue bar on the bottom (1st time i see this on my phone)...after a few minutes it booted up normally, but the only issue i got is that i cannot install any app through my file explorer...only through playstore..when i try to install one app through es explorer eg. i get "sorry,no application error".
Also, xposed framework has issues too..i can view my mods and they are applied to my phone, but when i try to update those who need update, xposed is crashing...so i can only use mods that are already installed through my previous rom.
Anyone has any idea what i did or what maybe went wrong?

What ROM were you previously on? Was it Odexed or Deodexed? And did you wipe data/cache/dalvik before flashing or did you dirty flash? Might work if you do a clean install.
OK, i just figured out my mistake...
I did everything from scratch and everything works flawless now..so i can confirm it is working on a locked bootloader..
So for your interest if someone does the same mistake as i did, just when flashing the kernel .ftf don't exclude anything..that caused my issues i think

I was on 4.3 odexed NCB stock, prerooted. I wiped only cache and dalvik before flashing. I messed up my system by trying another flashable rom that failed during flashing, and then i tried this method, zipped flashed fine, but i unchecked everything except kernel when flashing the .tft. Although i reflashed for 2nd time in a row the .tft, system still messed up. So i did everything from the beginning and now it works fine...
Glad i didn't had to wipe my data in the end...
Thanks for this rom/guide

It's a pre-rootet flashable zip file made with PRF Creator.
Source is my self-made clean stock Generic DE FTF file (captured with PC Companion method)
I take no responsibility if your phone is damaged or bricked by following these instructions. Always backup your phone before altering its software in any way.
Info:
Code:
14.5.A.0.242 R1D
Generic DE 1279-6978
Pre-rooted with SuperSU 2.46
[NUT]'s DualRecovery 2.8.10
Kernel, FOTAKernel, Baseband included (no need to flash FTF)
How to:
Code:
- Backup your data
(the next 2 steps are only recommended if
you have no recovery/root or getting bootloops
or anything like that. skip them if you already
have a working custom recovery)
- flash 14.4.A.0.108 ftf with flashtool [recommended]
- install [URL="http://nut.xperia-files.com/"][NUT]'s DualRecovery[/URL] with installer [recommended]
- Download zip, place on External SDcard
- Boot to recovery
- wipe system, data, cache, davik (all) (opt. internal memory)
- flash this zip
- reboot and wait 3-5mins, no need to flash FTF
- enjoy new update and rooted

You can't make an FTF file due to Sony's encryption. Best way for pre-rooted xperia firmware is thru Flashable PRF.
Soon enough there will be a 1 click easy root tool for lollipop for xperia phones so stick with stock unrooted for the meantime
(seriously it's been just a few days since the fw was released)
There are ways but only with unlocking the bootloader (no one click or whatsoever) so in the end the one above seems to be the easiest way... and it´s not that much time consuming to downgrade to .108 and upgrade afterwards...

I just hotbooted the kernel from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...t-lollipop-5-0-2-unlocked-bootloader-t3082081 and flashed this zip
You can't make an FTF file due to Sony's encryption. Best way for pre-rooted xperia firmware is thru Flashable PRF.
Soon enough there will be a 1 click easy root tool for lollipop for xperia phones so stick with stock unrooted for the meantime
(seriously it's been just a few days since the fw was released)[/QUOTE]
Thank you for your reply, I don't think I can wait until a root method comes out, there are many features in KK that I miss, and a couple of annoying ones in LP I guess I'll just go with the downgrading method...

You do not need root. Simply flash .108, root and flash back 157. It is really very easy and takes only several minutes.

Hi flobxy , sorry I meant that I have to downgrade then root , thanks for for your help
Required:
- Flashtool in the latest version from: http://flashtool.net
- DualRecovery by NUT as installer.zip: http://nut.xperia-files.com (Download the correct one for your device and at least version 2.8.7+!)
- Root on 23.0.F.1.74 (Download) for example with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/giefroot-rooting-tool-cve-2014-4322-t3011598
Featurelist:
- SuperSU integrated
- DualRecovery by NUT integrated (2.8.7)
Can be used on locked and unlocked bootloader.
Firmware File:
- D6633_23.1.1.E.0.1_Customized-MEA.flashable.zip
The Flashable.zip i've created with the mighty tool PRFCreator by zxz0O0.
Installation/Update (short) guide:
0. Downgrade to the firmware 23.0.F.1.74 and root it (with giefroot)
0.1. Install the LockedDualRecovery by NUT with the installer.zip (install.bat)
1. Put the downloaded update file (ROM.zip) on your device. I recommend you to put it directly on the device.
2. Boot into the recovery (While rebooting -> when the info LED flashs -> press shortly the VOL button for the Recovery you prefer)
(On Recovery you may create a twrp/cwm backup of your device if you get any issues on updating process!)
3. Flash the ROM update file (.zip) with "install zip".
4. Wipe cache and dalvik cache (perhaps under advanced).
5. Reboot to system.
You may have to wait some minutes on the first boot because of initializing system for first time (optimizing apps etc.).
Special Thanks to:
[NUT] (DualRecovery and his efforts!)
zxz0O0 (giefroot rooting tool, PRFCreator and his efforts!)

Thank you @waleedsq81 for providing this firmware!
But please advice me.... I'm already on rooted 23.0.F.1.74 with LOCKED bootloader :good: and I want to flash the 5.0.2 lollipop firmware you're providing or a supposedly 'prerooted' russian customized version I downloaded yesterday, but my question is that if I had to upgrade to .96 kitkat firmware prior to flash this one or can I flash it directly from the .74 one?? ............ and secondly: do you know if by installing your firmware (or the russian one) will the flashing operation open or unlock the bootleader inadvertently?? (I don't want to, of course).
Thank you in advance, cheers :fingers-crossed:

yes you can flash it directly from the .74
& this process will not open bootloader Because the official firmware does not need to open bootloader

I try to get into recovery using the hardware button but seems not possible.
Booting into recovery using NDR Utils is fine though.
What I do > Power off phone > Power on > Wait until Green led lights up > Press repeatedly volume down button
Nothing happens even if I repeat the process and press volume up instead of volume down button.
What seems the problem ?

Thank you very much @waleedsq81 you're the man!.... and I can safely confirm to all: if anyone is already on rooted kitkat .74 firmware, you can simply and straight go ahead and flash via recovery this pre-rooted MEA firmware... root is maintained as well as the bootloader locked in this latest lollipop build, just follow to the letter the given instructions.
Is it possible to upgrade from .96 to save the time going back to .74? I am already rooted just need to add recovery.

working smooth
Great firmware update and working nicely. I didn't do a clean wipe, just cleaned the cach and dalvik. I have been using it regularly and no problems. Camera is working, but I haven't tested other camera functions. All in all this is great.
Hey all. I have a z3 d6603 5.0.2 version 726. Ia there a way to get root access without unlocking bootloader? Im new to this so any help would be appreicated.

As per first post yes. If you have no root, flash back too stock using .74 firmware which can be rooted.

Hey guys as you know a new build 32.4.A.1.54 with September security patch is out for our Xperia Z3+.
Hence enjoy the stock kernel with features:
1. Sony RIC- disabled.
2. DM-Verity- disabled.
3. TWRP- enabled.
4. DRM Fix- enabled.
5. Superuser / root- Not present. (just flash magisk its better and device also passes safety net).
6. Busybox- Not present
Note: This is tested by me and works fine ,hence I assure it will work for your single sim E6553 Z3+ also. But flash the same at your own risk,I won't be responsible if anything goes wrong.
Don't flash on dual sim device
Download kernel: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BycUX5axs3M4RGZMcE43U1R2WTQ/view
Download ftf file of the 32.4.A.1.54 rom: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BycUX5axs3M4WWJ6Q3g1ZndFcDQ/view
---------------------
For dual sim its already posted by bruno$0 at : https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z4/development/kernel-ric-disable-twrp-root-dm-verity-t3417078
So do I need to flash the twrp myself? I flashed this kernel but it's like nothing happened.
Can i do this on locked bootloader ?

You can flash the 32.4.A.1.54 build rom on locked bootloader with flashtool as this is stock rom but you do have to unlock bootloader to flash the kernel.
Unlocking bootloader is very easy, just backup your drm keys first and Google and learn the process.
Good luck.
Can i flash this stock rom with flashtool just to upgrade from. 33 android 7.0 to 7.1.1...as i am on stock firmware locked bootloader? IS IT PURE STOCK FTF FOR LOCKED BOOTLOADER OR A MODIFIED FTF?

Yes you can flash this with flashtool, this is a stock untouched ftf from official Sony's server.
But for your convenience while flashing untick all the boxes in the wipe section, so that you can upgrade to ver 7.1 without loosing any data.
Thanks alot bro..working perfectly fine on very new rom
@Crajat95 thx bro but can u plz tell me which flashtool version should i use to flash the ftf... The latest one? And what about the patch i.e. jar file where to place it in flashtool.... Thx for help

Go to system>apps>all apps>my Xperia and disable this and bootloader allowed will turn to yes.
But do remember unlock bootloader to flash TWRP.
Hope it works, don't forget to like if it worked.
Shot in the dark here. Any chance you could cook one of these up with the CDMA radio and UHD drivers for the Z4V?
