Calling all Xperia Devs!
I'm sure that everybody knows what im talking about. and even if you don't you will probably find out soon. As i only started getting the issue after a couple months.
Where do we start? i have some experience but thats only with kernels and since alot of people are facing this issue... let's try as hard as we can to need only root access.
if anybody can tell me where to start looking... and help out.. that would be great..
Let's fix this guys!
I was messing around and i think i've found a fix for the touch screen issue.
What you'll need
Root
Root Explorer or something similar
Xperia Z1
Balls
Here's what you need to do.... (Version 2)
Download this file http://bit.ly/1tR0Foc
Flash in recovery
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Reboot
Now this should make the screen a little more comfortable in terms of swiping and typing. if you still get the issue please let me know.

Im no developer but I'm 100% sure this happen much more frequently when the device heats up. I play ppsspp and i can tell touch error will occur more when it heats up to a temperature. So this is most probably hardware problem. The higher the temperature the higher the electric resistance, right?
Taking off the plastic protector (if you got one) will reduce the problem a bit (because it's an insulator of electricity?)
So maybe what we have to do.... Maybe just automatically turn the screen sensitivity higher when the device heats up?
You know, I found a fix. Just turn screen off for a second with button and turn on. Just try it.
Yes, thats working but cant we do anything else?
Somebody said that using a cristal screensaver fix the bug... I will try...

I'm using Nillkin 9H, and I haven't had a single problem with my screen since I put it on. Before that I had the issues, so obviously working.

Got the Nillkin 9H glass protector also. Works well, feels smooth. It did slightly reduce the sensitivity, but it's minor. Make sure Pen Mode is disabled, because that gave me huge sensitivity problems.

Off-topic;
You should release a kernel instead, and finish what you started on the Xperia Arc / Arc S - your kernel work on ICS sources was top notch.
Eh... This topic was already ANSWERED. Yes answered. You can't fix this by software - learn this finally... If you wanna have good touchscreen, go for warranty like I did few months ago, so far no problems...
Or better yet upgrade to the z3 with newer display technology
i had the stock 4.2.2 for a few days because (then i flashed the latest fw because i had bootloader unlocked and the camera was not working on 4.2.2)i got a bootloop while trying to install a rom and i flashed that.so when i had it i never had the touchscreen issue.never.and the screen was working in a different way. i mean the reacting was otherwise, and the feeling of the screen.maybe it can be solved with software and i dont think its because of heating up. i played games long hours with a heated up device and i dont faced the issue( even 45 celsius+) but sometimes i just turn the screen on and i have the issue.i think its very random and i dont really know the reason of it.turning off the screen than on is 100% helping but sometimes it's annoying.
hope you developers can do something with this.

I believe the rumor was that some developer units had a HDMI port under the left tpuchpad.
So unless he has a developer unit, there is NOT an HDMI port on his Play.

Hello all gnote member
I bought my new N7000 on last week
and after shooting some pictures and recording some videos
I noticed that the screen has more "noise"
In recording video 1080HD, I just stay in default ( and not recording any video , only stay in application)
I see so much "noise" on screen although not zoom and recording
So i posted this thread to find someone help me explain this problem, the first I think that the problem in LCD screen but after changed the new LCD screen in Samsung customer service, it still have " noise" when zoom or recording video
please tell me when use camera app, the " noise" will appear while you just stay in default and not tap recording button or not? ( will appear when zoom in 720HD and not appear when not zoom )
Thank

Since your phone is new, make sure you remove the transparent sticker from the Camera! Just saying..
Some roms have it some dont in my opinion which do you have? And have you tried another camera app?
Also check and test your settings and if the foto looks different on another screen

Then I guess, if you have it on both roms, with different apps, and lens is clean/ not scratched, go back to store and say you want replacement unit. Because they didntbfix it last time demand compensation. You wont get it but stay polite., Dependant on store service they will give replacement.
Have tried changing settings? If you explain that you have walked all avenues, and which they were they should also be more leniant.
Best case when buying stuff, test it instore you can returnswap emediately. Its a shame its needed....

Are you sure that what you are observing has to do with the camera and is not simply the well known blocking effect of the samoled screen of the note? There is a well known issue with the note screen, search for "rendering blacks", "phasing", etc. in this forum. Simple test: is the problem still there when watching the camera shots / vids not on the note but on an external monitor?

I've had my Note for under a month now. I've been ever so careful with it. My heart skipped a beat when one day, all of a sudden, the screen just went mad!
I scoured the Web but couldn't find any other instance of this but the other day, in another thread, a few people have said that they've experienced the same problems. It's happened to my friends phone as well. I thought both of us were sold defective pieces to be honest but it looks like a global issue.
This is not just a case of screen flicker and screen changing colours on a white background. It goes haywire! Almost like the old television sets with their rainbow effect.
This has happened pre and post ICS; so it's definitely not a software issue. It has to be a hardware defect.
When I tried taking a screen shot of it, it just took a screen shot of the app I was using before the madness began.
It happened again last night. This time, fortunately or unfortunately, the screen stayed that way till I hit the power button. I had enough time to take a photo of it using a friends phone. Check it out :

+1 I don't use live wallpapers either. Phone's not rooted either. It's probably an issue with the graphics chip. And it seems to be a global issue and not limited to any region as such.

I sure hope you're right because the same thing happened to my laptop once. The screen started flickering this way occasionally and it the frequency increased. In the end, I was told that the chip and the screen needed to be changed. Luckily it was still under warranty at that point.
Just hoping the same thing doesn't happen to this AFTER the warranty lapses!
never experienced this.. i used ICS for 2 days, no sign of this issue back then.. and now im back to GB...
is this what they call pixel salad?
flicker or pixel salad, whataever you name, mostly happens when you end the call or call disconnection...the same happened to me and gone through the logcat and reproduced the same once again..

have upgraded to official ICS then root then went back to GB root..
just wondering for those of you who experienced this sort of pixelation, where did you get your note from?? mine was from the the telco when i renewed my contract and seems to me that it is more likely a defective unit..

Honestly, I thought my friend and I were sold defective pieces here but as I mentioned earlier, from the kind of response this thread is getting, it's definitely a global issue.
My unit was manufactured in Vietnam. Bought it at a store here in India. It's probably a case of a batch of defective units. Samsung needs to take stock of this. With their over zealous selling spree, it wouldn't surprise me if someone at the quality testing team was made to look the other way. Conspiracy theory maybe but who knows eh?

Yeah I get weird touch stuff sometimes like you do, I also have issues with the proximity sensor. I read somewhere that LG is rumored to release a fix for the proximity sensor next month, hopefully they fix the touch issues as well.

I am having this issue too! Thought I was the only one. It has been happening very rarely but it even happened the day I brought it home from the store. It only does it every now and then but it happened twice yesterday and it has happened already once today. Very concerning.

You know what that say about the one that tries and tries the same thing expecting a different result lol. I know its not the same
Anyway I just thought I'd throw this here
http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g2/317709-g2-touch-screen-issues.html
It seems to be a very common problem for those that heavily use their phone with scrolling or dragging as a primary function.
This is just a theory but could the screen either a) get too warm making it a hardware issue or b) software due to something else. The guy in that post thinks its an algorithm that resets its calculation when the screen is reset.
We learned that when it has an episode the temporary fix is to turn off the screen and turn it back on. Thus indicating that its likely a software bug.

Will a rom like for example cyanogen solve this?
I had issues exactly the same as this on my HTC Rezound. I've had this happen here (On my G2) as well. It was happening often and I changed a certain setting and for the life of me can't remember what it was. I think it was show touches. Do you have that enabled when the issue presents itself?

I've experienced this issue on the Sprint variant (LS980) as well. The fact that turning the screen off and then on again seems to fix this leads me to believe it is probably a software glitch, perhaps the touchscreen driver has a memory leak or something of that nature. Hoping this one can be taken care of quickly.
I sometime have this issue when scroll in setting or in Edit quick setting.
Today I know how to make this happen: fast scroll up and down in Edit quick setting for a while and the middle of touch screen becomes unresponsive to touch, I just switch to home screen then go back to fix it.
Don't know is software or hardware issue.
P/S; My phone is LG G2 D802

...I have ghost touches... and just becouse this option (show touches) enabled is I could see the ghost fingers .
...then... in the middle of the screen comes this:
I have also seen this in the quick toggles menu sometimes, but never on a webpage, in quickmemo or other places. Just in quicksettings. So it should be a software issue. And Lg should not have made SO many defect phones..
I Just picked up an LG G2 (vzw) and i noticed this issue almost immediately, but again, intermittently as everyone else has stated... I agree that it seems to be software related and hope a patch comes out soon!

same here VZ G2. love the phone, hate this issue.
I have read where the KitKat upgrade for the G2 is supposed to add speed and increase battery life even further. For me however it seems its the opposite. I have had way worse battery life since installing (pc lg tool) the KitKat update. I was going all day with anywhere from 40 - 30% left when it was finally plugged in for the night, now I am lucky if I make it to the end of the night. At first I thought perhaps it was just in need of a reboot, but I have done that several times since installation and battery times are still worse. What I don't understand is the battery meter says "System" is to blame for 53% cpu time. Before screen time was my number one battery drain, now its just from being on?.... I don't get it.. Anyone else having this issue, or can shed some light?

That's just it, i haven't done anything different. It can't be an app because i haven't installed anything since the upgrade. What bothers me is it seems to be a system process that's causing it.

Location settings/reporting/Google Now on?
Pocket Mode
Not sure if it is something generic across KitKat or if it is specific to my ROM but pocket mode was killing my battery since it was constantly powering my proximity sensors looking for light to unlock the screen.
settings-security-lockscreen notifications-pocket mode.
Hope that helps man

I provided the path above, like I said though not sure if it is specific to the ROM i'm on(PA 4.4.2) or not. It the only real exposure to kitkat that I've had. If it isn't a default kitkat thing i apologize if I got your hopes up. I will say this though, if it is don't get your hopes up. It's rather annoying and a massive battery drain. With it on my phone acted like it had half the battery it does.
I don't have location settings turned on, so google now shows unavailable for location, also I don't have security turned on, so I have no security lock screen notification settings that I could find... I'm assuming this is only on if you are using pin, or pattern lock. Thanks for the suggestions tho... I'm going to keep monitoring it and see how it goes. So far today it seems to have normalized, Android System is only showing 2%, which is more like it.
I'm on Official LG Stock KK and to be truthful the battery life has been pretty bad. Like not really comparable to 4.2.2 and definitely not comparable to vanilla Android(of course). What's the issue? Anyone know?

Had a similar issue. Let It settle for a day or so. If no improvement, that's a pain but go through a factory reset. That should fix it. Did you have a specific setup like root/custom rom before?

I am having serious Bluetooth battery drain even though it has been off. Anyone know how to stop this? Thanks

Will you lose root if you do a factory reset and was this a factory reset from the Stock Recovery or from entering the Settings and inside Backup and Reset menu and then Factory Reset?
