Sugested Rom to use HD2 as a GPS - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I've been thinking on using my HD2 as a offline car GPS only. I'm thinking on using a GingerBread ROM since it's lighter. What rom would you suggest? Possibly a NativeSD one, I've been using ICS and other phones for so long I'm a bit out of the loop.

Well ...

Dear friend ... I recommend you to not try this because HD2's hardware is not the resistant to too Hot/Cold weather and you might get your CPU burnt but anyway , NexusHD2 - Froyo ( should have NativeSD versions too ) or Typhoon CM7 ( don't think you can find it as NativeSD ) are good ROMs but if you want the most performance and the fastest , I recommend you This ROM which has all NAND / NativeSD / SD builds ... Goodluck

A CM7 ROM (or Ultimate Droid) with A2SD and cache on sd. A gb rom with a ton of free system space will fly, and is 100% stable for me.

I think Imilka is best . it is fast and stable
These what is "best" rom threads are ridiculous.
I think that first you must choice what type of ROM you like
Miui
Pure gingerbread
Sense rom
Then we can help you in your final choice...

Install Laurentius Platinum ROM Series for Winmo
Install SD Android American Android (AOSP)
It doesnt mean other ROMS are not good. Those are my personal preference
I have best experience with those ROM
You should test it your self and find the right one for your needs..
Cheers
Well almost 90% of the users here on XDA will have their own preferences and taste...the best way is to try and find out what is best for you...
Still answering your question for what is best for me
WM: Dutty's V25 ROM
Android: Nexus HD2 Gingerbread ROM

The combo in my sig is clean and trouble free.
Hello,
for me :
WM : any WP7 but not so tweakable than Droid n not for Gamer ^^
Droid : Any CM7 are much tweakable n stable if you dont want Sense.
If you want Sense, v3 is not stable but soon (Dungphp Kingdom Sprint WWE 0.81.651.0-Real 3D V3.7 really work !!) and for others versions, imilka's ROMS are my preference (imilka.eu).

I've currently installed tytung's AOSP ICS ROM for HD2, I have some issues, but it's ok... Is there any possible way to combine Sense 3 - 3,5 with Android 4?? There are many new topics about Android 4 ROM's on HD2...
Thx again

As far as I know you can't just put Sense on an Android build, that simply isn't how it works (otherwise a tonne of people would have been doing it for a while now) and if you did manage to combine those, it wouldn't be usable with just 512mb of RAM anyway

The choice is up to you. My personal preference is CM7, but if you really want ICS then go for it I guess.
Its all based on what you want on your phone. Some people like sense, some like miui while others like cm7. Look at the videos on youtube and in the post of the ROM your looking at to try and get an idea of what you want on your phone. Not to complicate things but here is a list of around 300 Android ROMs for the HD2. Most are old but even many of the old ROMs still run great and are at least worth it to look at.
ok ty very much for the info!
I donwload AOKP for HD2 but not have a config for email ? (entreprise ou activesync) ! why ?
I'm using Tytungs CM9 ICS v1.5 rom as my daily rom. Had some problems initially (hot reboots once per day) but after upgrading CWM from 4 to 5.0.2.6 (not sure about exact number, the latest anyway) its been running smoothly with an occasional hot reboot. LOVE ICS, battery life is better than my old GB rom and data usage has reduced a lot.
It's no sense but you may like it

Hi m8!!
at the present there's only one ICS Sense Rom cooking, you may find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544930
But there is a great ICS Rom available (AOKP aka IceCreamTosti) which is very smooth and stable that you can try to flash:

Have a nice one!!

[Q] old roms vs new ones

hi guys ,
i am using android 4.1.2 now and it's good except for the low ringtone and battery life issues
so i was asking is it better to use old Rom like 3.5 or something ? would it be more stable and faster or have small size that allow me to have more internal memory ???!!
and where can i find those 3.5 nand Roms ?
if you have any recommendations to me please let me know .
There is no difference between old and new roms in battery life. From my experience just a wrong or not clean installation can be the reason of short battery life and there is no fix. Also custom rom have custom kernels and not all the base settings working for everyone. The only one thing I am sure, on old roms you can't run many applications and on the latest you can but the latest are in beta (testing) version and not all will work fine and ther are with bugs. So your job of finding the right rom is big because have to be stable, low battery consumption, run everything, and not have problem with the latest application and less bugs possible if nothing at all. I got my rom from almost a year and just working fine. With 2300 original battery I reach 5 days and I run games like N.O.V.A 3. I don't saying is the best but even today the latest roms are not stable and fully working like mine so why change? Am I right? Nobody can recommend for you which rom is the best because the rom can work for them but not for you.
