So as to the display, there may not be a change regarding brightness? The Maxx is LCD & X still AMOLED. I found the orig x too dim for outdoor viewing.

Specs I have seen say led but it is much brighter anyhow
In order for active display to be battery friendly the device needs an AMOLED display, LCDs aren't battery friendly when it comes to AD because the whole screen must turn on.

The result is a display that produces some of the most gorgeous, vibrant colors we've seen on any smartphone. Colors popped so much against the Maxx's black display bezel that images and movies looked as though they were floating over a sheet of glass. While watching a trailer for "Thor: The Dark World," the Norse god's flowing red cape and golden hair stood out starkly against a grey background.
More good news: At 488 lux, the Maxx's screen is one of the brightest we've tested, falling short of only the iPhone 5's 525 lux rating. The Galaxy S4 wasn't far behind, though, at 480 lux. HTC's One came in at a relatively low 375 lux, while the smartphone category average came in at 394 lux. LG's giant G2 offered a relatively dim 351 lux.

Averaging 482 lux on our light meter, the Moto X's screen is brighter than the average smartphone (387 lux). It's also brighter than the HTC One (433 lux) and Galaxy S4 (446 lux). When outdoors, we could read the Moto X's screen, but the iPhone 5's display shined brighter (535).

I believe the difference I found was greater than 6 lux but they found the Maxx brighter nonetheless.
I also use this now & so should everyone for best outdoor viewing.

What can we learn from this specification is that the new Moto x comes in 4 variants: XT1095 for AT&T (and Latin America I guess), XT1096 for Verizon, XT1092 (don't know but regarding LTE for one of the USA providers, maybe Sprint?) and XT1093 / XT1094, the model which will cover plain GSM area, like Europe, Asia etc. And the last one is also assumed to be only developer's edition phone (Motorola's already confirmed that only GPS will come unlocked and unbranded. It is confirmed for now as well that T-mobile won't have its own model, but XT1093 / XT1094 will cover its needs sufficiently. That was expected since even previous Moto x for T-mobile was unlocked.
This is of course preliminary specification, every adjustment is welcome. It is more accurate than that from GSMArena though.

How was the development on the original Moto X? I have AT&T and if I were to get the Moto X I would get the unlocked GSM version, I'm just curious about development mainly kernels as the ROM it comes with is AOSP plus some nice moto features.
A moto x running slimkat with the new moto app would be a huge win lol

Why would they not equip this with ext sd card support? 32g int memory is an absolute joke.
Would have been an exceptional device but with that pitiful amount of storage its a paperweight to me sadly.

Moto G has got stereo speakers as well
Motorola has a long history of messing up with things despite of what it's fans want.
Now I am afraid soon they will launch a refreshed version of the new Moto X which will will then have the controversially dropped out features and buyers of the current version with will feel the pinch.

Here are the highlights that stand out the most to me in using it as my daily phone for months:
A more refined design: it's 90% metal now, with the metal wrapping up the side (the HTC One was 70% metal). The gunmetal gray is simply gorgeous and has this great texture to it. I've also never seen a single HTC One (M8) with a gap of any kind - the entire phone is more solidly constructed.
Bigger Battery: with a 2600 mAH battery, it lasts longer. I don't have to think about charging it before the end of the day.
Bigger Storage: Yes, it's true, we put a microSD slot in there, and it supports up to 128 GB of storage. How's that for mind-blowing?
Bigger Screen: 5 inches is a nice size; not so huge like the One max, but noticeably bigger than the 4.7 inch screen on the HTC One. I got used to the 5.9" screen on the One max, but there was no adjustment period with the HTC One (M8).
Better BoomSound: The audio quality from the dual-front facing speakers on the HTC One was great...but you wouldn't believe how much better the new HTC One (M8) sounds! Richer, fuller audio with a wider sound. It's 25% louder, yes, but the audio quality is dramatically better. I didn't grasp by how much until a co-worker did a side by side comparison for me.
A Better Camera Experience: It's a 4 megapixel UltraPixel sensor, but we switched to a new provider for the sensor, completely addressed the pink tint issue, added a second sensor to get depth/spatial information (which allows for some great camera effects). Image quality is simply better.

So where and when can you buy it? If you're in the USA, you can buy it at a Verizon store today at 1 PM eastern time. Other carriers in the US and Canada will be taking immediate online orders, and by April 10th the phones should be in all North American carrier stores. In London, some retailers will have the phone today as well, and you'll see it pushed out to Europe and Asian markets rapidly in the coming weeks. By the end of April, the HTC One (M8) should be absolutely everywhere.

Happy about pretty much everything but the huge amount of wasted real estate on the front. It's like my Jewel buy with an extra speaker on the front.

So just like the Samsung s5 only a very small upgrade. It's nice to add a microsd SD slot but seriously the HTC logo is still incredible misplaced.
Also lol at all that fitness crap, since all manufacturers are doing it it seems more like a data fishing attempt. I am 5 times a week in the gym and i know some people nobody uses their smartphone for tracking stuff, 90 percent of the time it's used to replace a mp3 player.
It's really a small and disappointing upgrade no octacore, no 3gb ram and no uhd so far all phones this year seem lackluster.

I also wanted the nexus 6 but my money does not allow me to ? so for me nexus 9!

I waited so long for this been rocking this galxy s3 all year waiting for the nexus 6.. I cant wait to have it in my hands...:laugh:
Nexus 6 is pretty much heavy at 180g when Nexus 5 is 130g. Motorola Phones are usually heavy. For instance, Moto E is around 150g when it is a 4.3" device. I like the build quality of motorola phones though since the motorola L6.

AMOLED. That's a shame. So will burn eventually if I use it in a car for GPS (static screen elements, high brightness, high temperatures)

Qi wireless charging enabled! I wasn't excited about a 6 inch phone, but they've got some if the things I've been looking for, battery life (potentially) & Qi wireless charging. Plus the phone can be purchased directly from MOTO.

Nope, it's 32-bit since it uses Snapdragon 805. I would not worry about it though, it is a beastly SoC
It says the phone is water resistant
what is the difference between buying from play store and moto webiste?
Surprisingly no. The 805 is 32 bit. However, there's no apps that will take advantage of 64 bit in the mobile world. I expect that to change, but not for a while.
