Modern Combat 5 on Mad Catz MOJO & CTRLR - M.O.J.O. General

Youtube I'll record a better video next week.
I installed MC5 using steps bellow, it works flawlessly on MOJO, all menus work in game smart mode (no mouse switching) but the only issue I have is with the analog triggers, You have to squeeze them completely (100%) for them to work, and the weapon trigger is on R2.
Good game so fare, requires a good internet connection my 3G drops bad in wet weather.
Installed using Market Helper:
reboot the mojo
make sure location access is on.
I installed it as follows:
Install the app from the link.
Force stop google store
Run the app,
I picked:
Selected Tablet, Nvidia Shield
Pick your country and ISP
and activated.
Logged into google for device registration.
Start google store and your favs should be purchasable.
It's a hit and miss process but it does work, all the games above were able to be installed expect GTA-4.
If it still fails force stop google store, rerun the market helper app and check.
if it still fails clear the data on both service and store and force stop google store, rerun makert helper.
On SW reboot and service/store data clear it remembered the settings for me.

UPDATE:
The game works perfect in game mode, but in multiplayer there's an issue.
I recommend people send a bug report to:
http://support.gameloft.com/Home/SupportForm/321/
ie:
Just want to let you know of a bug I found using my mad catz MOJO and CTRLR controller.
The game and controller work 100% perfectly in game mode.
But in multiplayer the right analog stick activates the aim (weapon sight) when push 100% to the left.
Kind of annoying, but if you need any more information, please email.
Thanks

Modern Combat 5
What's you favorite class? I know that game has voice chat so would a Bluetooth headset work?

Basically the red32, hip fire no aim. Its unfairly over powered hence why everyone's using it. The recon class is OK when you have all the perks for radar display etc but all the guns are like spud guns. The last gun is OK but still a fraction of the power the red has.
I played it until all the classes where fully upgraded bar the sniper class took about a week I got bored of it through over playing I guess they made it more suited to people with touch screens so when using a controller its so simple.
I only really used to struggle against the top top squads anyone outside the top 10 where easy pickings

I like assult and recon, I don't know how they do the servers but over wifi it lags badly.. I'll try ethernet... shame there's no local multiplayer.
http://www.gameloft.com/?request=fo...8-When-will-Gameloft-actually-address-the-lag
Interesting reading the MC5 forum: http://www.gameloft.com/?request=forum&url=forumdisplay.php?1647-Modern-Combat-5
voice chat haven't tried it, and haven't heard other people talking either.
I agree with Ash180287 everybody is using mostly that gun, I hope they fix that to

Yeah using the ctlrl and the note 3 over wifi, I never had any issues with lag at all, am lucky enough to have 160mb fiberoptic though so that might have something to do with it also my note 3 receives nightly os updates unlike one of my devises (nudge nudge madcats)
I did find the ctlrl not that accurate/smooth with aiming. However with the assaults u only need the cross hairs on the target no aimings required so it wasn't the end in the world. And that's not me saying theirs something up with the controller imagine its the same case for all the other controller out there.
With the assaults u only need 3 bullets to penetrate for a kill and they have range, where as the recons require a good 8 shots ot connect unless point blank and as soon as you factors in range an assault will mow you down every time.
When I was levelling my classes I dropped my win ratio and kd down to 1.0ish after sticking to the red for a few nights I got it back to 3.0 on both pretty quick, **** thing is Gameloft boot you from most your games as soon as you hit 20-0 in a match or really high kills to low deaths your automatically labeled in with the hackers and cheaters and booted from the lobby. Total bs if u look on the forum theres loads a people moaning about it.
Once ur in with a good squad because all your team provide really good covering fire for each other you don't get killed that much so its a regular occurance

Just sent a bug report to Gameloft about the controller issue. Lets hope they fix it soon.

hopefully.
I don't get why they don't just create a mapping feature like all emulators have... then controller support wouldn't be an issue.

Did you get the aim scoop popup when looking hard left (right analog stick)?
I get it all the time, good way of learning analog sensitivity. lol

Yep good point
Like honestly, Nvidia can do it, so why can't Mad Catz and other system makers that suffer from games having no controller support?

Do you play Asphalt 8 on your MOJO? I love that game.

The game requires wifi even with ethernet.
You can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-fake-wifi-connection-t2800416
I've used it and works well.
basically, install the framework, then the module, then configure the module to run on MC5.

Oh great gwaldo! Now I can actually not worry then I get MC5 and MOJO.

New multiplayer maps not on MOJO?
Has anyone managed to update MC5 on the MOJO to get the new maps yet? I get the new maps on my Lenovo tablet and my LG G3 phone but even after uninstalling and reinstalling MC5 on the MOJO I'm still stuck with the same old 3 multiplayer maps.

New maps have arrived
Checked last night and an update was available. The new multiplayer maps have arrived for the Mojo! We now have both Scramble and Overtime but without those annoying santas everywhere. It's a win-win.

[Q] Why does everybody say 'Dead Trigger' is so great?

My experience is that the on screen controls are abysmal. Its hard to do 360s for starters. Navigation controls are pretty straight forward but can be rather non-responsive, particularly when you get into a hairy situation with trying to deal with multiple zombies. I dunno, I don't think there's anything wrong with my touch screen display but I've found the game to be mostly frustrating.
I really like it. controls not hard. 7in. Screen is perfect for these type of games. what I'm really luvin is Nova3. Especially on myltiplayer/deathmatch mode. Sonic 2 thd rocks. Mass effect great also. Wish storage size was larger so I could load all my games like I have on my prime. Only the best ones & emulators go on my nexus 7
Only thing I hate is the random 360 turns it does on me and I don't know where the hell I am.
From the Note to Nexus 7
Yeah, I thought it was just me.... The zoom is 0 or 100%, no way to go in and out, it either fires one bullet or a dozen it seems like, and movement is really goofy. Maybe that's why it's free now...
A lot of people are playing with a ps3 controller and its pretty awesome with a profile map.

its frustrating but it sure is pretty on my Nexus7 and on my RAZR.... and its satisfying to shoot zombies regardless.
thats all that matters.

Yeah I get the same thing once in awhile as well.
As far as games go, it's o.k. - I enjoy it from time to time, especially due to the graphics. To be honest, my Nexus 7 game of the moment is Major Mayhem.
I use an OnLive Universal Controller, myself. On screen controls have always been a waste of time, so be glad that Madfinger was nice enough to integrate controller support, unlike most Gameloft titles. Keyboard/mouse support would have been ideal, but the difficulty level is fine for controllers.
Does it compare to popular console franchises like Halo? Of course not. But it's decent enough for a tablet game, and until bigger developers start producing AAA titles for Android, this is the best we've got.
Anyone have zero issues with this game? I was thinking the bugs initially were due to a defective digitzer on my n7, but having downloaded and played max Payne without any issues, I'm lead to believe that the game is at fault.

are they using the sixaxis app to hook the controller up?
Since they ripped off my dollar and threw Android under the bus, I can't say Madfinger holds much of my respect anymore.
But... This game is meant to be played with a controller. It was even demoed using the nyko android controllers, so that is by far the best way to play.

Dudes!! With SixAxis, you can make Android see it as a gamepad, so when you go to Dead Trigger, it sees that you have a gamepad connected and automatically makes your analog sticks analog. You just have to set the buttons to what you want.
No need for any special profile inputs. It's so insane. LoL!!
I will admit that all 1st person shooters on phones are a little hard and impossible to play. I actually wouldn't them if they didn't have that GamePad support.
How are people physically playing the game? It's looks like many of you are using gamepads.
I've tried playing it just using the touchscreen but it's very unnatural and awkward. Anyone out there using the touchscreen primarily and if so, any tips?
This game does lagg on my nexus 7....I can't actually play it properly so I uninstalled it.
other madfinger games play fine but this game i'm having issues with

Same here. Only see the 180-degree character flip in Madfinger games like Dead Trigger and Shadowgun. Games from Rockstar such as Max Payne and GTA III doesn't have that issue. Definitely controller bug in Madfinger code. Being that Madfinger made Dead Trigger difficult without better weapons and has in-app purchase nag to upgrade weapons I'm not surprised they intentionally introduce the bug to frustrate people into paying money for weapons.

Try going into Settings>Apps>Dead Trigger and clear cache, clear data, force stop and uninstall.
Go into Settings>Wi-Fi, click on three vertical squares, select Advanced, and set Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep to Always.
Set the Display sleep to 30 minutes.
Redownload game. A lot of crash and no sound issues with new game downloads are due to incomplete downloads.
The random 180 bug is a known problem with the unity game engine itself which madfinger happens to like to use. Its up to unity to fix it, and madfinger said on their Facebook that they were working with the unity team on it.

Come back to this discussion after you've tried out at least an xbox 360 controller.
On screen controls are lacking.. when you use real tactile controls that don't force you to cover up some of the screen, it makes it a different feeling device all together.
Any controller like the xbox 360 controller, Sony Playstation SIXASIS bluetooth, or any other wonderful controller compatible with our devices stock or rooted.

Humble Bundle OUYA Compatibility List | Humble Bundle Android 8

EDIT: Once, or rather if, the gamestick gets end user legitimate support for sideloading, would anyone like me to go back through the list and do more testing on that device?
Since I've bought every Humble Bundle (excluding some weeklys), I figured I'd go through all the available Android games from them and check their compatibility with the OUYA.
So here is the list of all the games I tried (installed using the Humble Bundle App) and the results... Games listed as being playable with the touchpad would obviously work better using a mouse, but based on my opinion, I felt they were at least functional with the touchpad.

Sorry if this list is a bit strange to some, I just felt it was the best way to display the information for any person regardless of technical expertise...and if I missed any Humble Bundle games, let me know or post your own results and I'll add them to the list.
And for reference, here is the information from the Humble Bundle App. Additionally, these were all tested on the OUYA 1.0.5 firmware. Note, that subsequent testing will always be done on latest OUYA firmware, despite this information.

Just like with most other games, use the touchpad/mouse to select the given Raiden game you want to play. A double-tap will select the game, and a double-tap + hold and drag will very difficultly let you scroll between games.
Once in game, controls only seem to function with the OUYA controller (vs Xbox 360 controller), and only with the D-Pad.

Thanks, and ya, I figured since I had most every Humble Bundle I should take advantage and test everything so no one else has too. And speaking of the bundles, would it be helpful to list the specific bundles I have, and thus this list applies to? Thanks for the list, now I don't have to waste so much time waiting for these games to download. I tried metal slug and noticed the unable to continue thing, mentioned it in the sideloaded apps thread a while ago, but that thread is to hard to comb through so I am glad this one is being updated. I haven't used my OUYA since I ran into lag issues using the snes emu from the OUYA store so I haven't been able to try the current android bundle. I also have an issue with my button getting stuck under the faceplate and OUYA support is so slow and unresponsive I am still waiting for either replacement plates or what every they are suppose to do with that issue.

I actually got a response from them today after emailing them once last week(the said they would send me on and attach a shipping label that I never got) and emailed them again today asking what was going on and they said they will fedex me plates and will include return shipping label.
I will prob hook the ouya back up tomorrow, I plugged in my ps3 in where the ouya was so I can finally get around to playing yakuza 4.

Any update on the Mobile Bundle 2? I purchased it but haven't tried Bloons TD 5, Carmageddon, God of Blades, Karateka Classic, Punch Quest, QWOP, Ravensword: Shadowlands, Star Command, or Time Surfer on the Ouya yet.
I'm assuming that Rs:Sl has the same awkward problems that the Google Play version has.
Because of the way its combat works, I'm assuming that Star Command is unplayable also.
The others? No clue. Would be nice though if GoB actually worked here...
Edit: Well, Carmageddon appears a no-go... can get through the menu using the touchpad, but it's rather hard to do dual-screen-sticks with a single touchpad.
God of Blades just goes to the start screen where it tells you to tap to start, and then... tapping doesn't start. Sadness.
Not surprisingly, QWOP is just as bad on the Ouya as it would be with a mouse. Still unplayable, but that's QWOP for you. So... touchpad playable, for someone with god-hands.
Punch Quest is touchpad playable. Switching between combat sides is awkward enough that I don't find it fun, but technically playable.
Time Surfer is... surprising. It actually goes into the Ouya Play section rather than the usual Make, and it works. Left stick controls the time rewind (and moves you in the menus), O makes you dive (and selects), and A goes back through menus.
Bloons TD 5 works with the touchpad. I suggest setting it to not drop until you click the check box, since you may need to move a few times to get your monkey placed properly. If you have good placement, it's playable. If you depend on actually doing anything during the levels... you're toast.
Karateka is rather awkward, but playable with the touchpad. Basically decide on a single attack though, since you're not likely to get to dodge or change often.
Yep, Ravensword has the same holdup as the Google Play version. Game Controller Detected, Do you wish to use a controller to play... and you can't select Yes or No. Unplayable since you can't get past that.
Star Command is, as expected, mostly working with the touchpad. It's more clicking and dragging than I'd enjoy, but... someone may feel the need to experience trekkie life enough to battle through it.
Using the categories above:
Controller: Time Surfer.
Touchpad - Playable: Bloons TD 5, Karateka, Punch Quest, Star Command.
Touchpad - Impossible: Carmageddon, QWOP.
No start: God of Blades, Ravensword.
Latest bundle includes Ticket to Ride, Greed Corp, Incredipede and Anodyne. If you beat the average, you’ll also receive Worms Reloaded (includes mobile version Worms 2: Armageddon) and The Bard’s Tale!
Servers must be swamped at inXile because the 3.5GB ofobb files for Bard's Tale are only 85% downloaded after several hours on Ethernet. It looks like this should work, or I am going to be annoyed off no other good games are added. I had to move almost everything off the internal memory to download it. (Edit) the game FULLY supports OUYA controller right down to the default button assignments in on screen menus. Very promising for the other games. Now I'll dump it to my HDD with foldermount and go to sleep happy.
I've only tested Incredipede so far and it doesn't seem playable. Some controller support in menus, so it is worth a second look. I'll find some time too install it on my Nexus 7 and figure out the gameplay and then try again on OUYA.
Is there any way to get screen touch emulation for the games that require it? It doesn't seem like it should be such an obstacle in launching games that may provide controller support.
I see Aquaria listed as unplayable, but I am pretty sure it's playable with a controller now. I started a game but didn't dive to far in to the gameplay

Worms Reloaded was touchpad only, not playable.
Haven't tried this edition of Bards Tale, but the Play Store version works with controller so I'm expecting this one to work as well.
Sorry for the long time to add these; I've been incredibly busy. Just updated list with games from the Humble Mobile Bundle 2 and Humble Bundle with Android 7
EDIT:

Sadness.

Wow, I am terribly sorry everyone! I was not aware there was any urgency to update the list...I guess I don't receive email updates when there are posts to my thread anymore! Really wish I saw these posts before I just went through and tested everything myself! Could've saved time on that Bard's Tale download!
Anyways, I'll try out Aquaria myself later, but make a note in the OP for now
Bard's Tale will not recognize controller if Logitech dongle is attached, it launches with touch controls and hardware controls are not offered as an option.
How did Incredipede work? Is there an option for controller, or perhaps I had my wireless mouse plugged in?

Gameloft games not supported

So I basically couldnt wait for the sheild to come out and I bought one only to find out that big gameloft titles like Modern combat 4, Nova 3 etc are not supported by the shiled controls :crying: why nvidia why, I would have thought that nvidia would have some kind of on screen mapping controls like archos gamepad but I was wrong, I hope soon that they will with some kind of software update because alot of ppl who bought this thing to play big Gameloft Tiltes are not happy plzzzzz nvidia fix this
Current devices:
Xperia tablet Z 4G LTE. (4.2.2 rooted on stock rom)
Xperia Z. (4.2.2 rooted on custom Rom monxDIFIED)
Galaxy S4. (4.2.2 rooted on omega Rom)
Galaxy Note 2. (4.3 CM10.2)
Nvidia Shield. (4.2.1 rooted stock Rom)
PlayStation Vita 3G & WiFi (collecting dust)
There are 3rd party apps that let you do that.
Also NVidia have no obligation to "fix" this when it isn't an advertised feature.
If anything the only people that have to fix things are gameloft themselves.

Yes your right I hope gameloft update thier games to be compatible with the shield and their future games, besides what are the best 3rd party apps that work well with the shield
Here is the 3rd party app call gamekeyboard that can map the screen button

Just to let you know, Modern Combat 4 works just fine on the SHIELD. You can fire and ironsight with the R1/L1 buttons and sprint/crouch by pushing up or down twice on the left analog.
Try the Amazon App store, it's $6.99 there. The game runs very smooth and multiplayer works great as well.

Same issue. I bought modern combat 4 for my phone a while ago, but I see no way to get it onto my shield.

LADIES AND GENTS!
Root your shield and download "Device Spoofer". This app does as it sounds and spoofs google play into thinking your shield is whatever you want it to be. This makes it so you are no longer limited to games available to only shield. I have chosen to spoof the system into thinking my shield is an Xperia Play. Now I have access to all Gameloft games on the Google Play Market.
I'm still testing controller support while spoofing though. Don't get too excited.

I went ahead and grabbed MC4 off Amazon App store...annoyed to have to buy again, but I was real curious about it working on the shield, and it does work well. The control mappings could be a bit better though, but maybe they are working it.
I also would like them to update Wild Blood - since I paid for that sometime ago but want to play it on my shield.
I wish they would quit releasing everything as freemium...I hope they DO NOT release MC5 as free to play.
I have an issue with the right stick not working in Max Payne and all gameloft games. Anyone else having that issue?

drag down the top right notification and untick virtual mouse off, then it should work :good:
Think I found my first actual complaint with the shield and it's completely software related, possibly analog stick driver related. Could be corrected for in games, but after some testing all games are sort of struck by this.
You turn off mouse emulation and the analog stick movement in games is almost entirely static aside from the small zone in the center where you can make minor corrections. Movement hits "balls to the wall" max value very quickly IMO.
Nova 3 is brilliant with shield, a lot like a Halo 3 clone, I have spent many many many hours playing halo 3 so I was very excited. After playing for about 4-5 hours last night, one thing I could tell as being mostly different (aside from R bumper fire vs R trigger fire) was regardless of the sensitivity setting, the acceleration spectrum of the joystick isn't anywhere near the same.
You can turn down the look sensitivity and moving the stick quickly plateaued out on the speed you can look in any direction. You turn it up too high 3/5th-5/5th and it makes it impossible to make any kind of very sensitive minor correction. (no scopes) For me anyway, having it set to 1/5-2/5th sensitivity is perfect for the minor corrections in that game and getting those headshots with ease. But it makes making major corrections (looking behind you 180's) impractical. When playing on the xbox the more aggressive the stick movements the more it will accelerate your movement while still keeping minor corrections possible with minor movements. (I played halo 3 on 2/5th setting)
So, I went in and started checking other games, maybe it was just a problem with nova... and it's basically doing the same thing in every game. Spent a lot of time playing GTA 3 and same thing there as well. I didn't pick it up at first because for the other games I didn't have a good idea of "what right looked like" But other games like respawnables & shadowgun are sort of the same deal even though I didn't really have a point of reference for those.
I know it's not a simple thing to explain and ask for, and I bet a lot of people won't even notice it, or think it's just me. What is needed is the joystick equivalent to "mouse acceleration" in windows though.
EDIT: and there needs to be (or a bigger) deadzone in the center, that might actually fix both problems (push minor values outwards of the center some). I have found some analog stick ghost movements when my thumbs are off them.
I wouldn't mind trying order and chaos with controller support. If you use the device spoofer just to get the app downloaded then turn it off will the games run? The issue is mostly just getting them onto the device isn't it?

The spoofer is only needed for the play store, from that point onwards the app itself has very little it can do to prevent running on your device.

[Q] Real offline racing game?

I downloaded a couple of racing games that look really great. But all of them require an internet connection to download updates before playing or to log you into some account. Other racing games I tried are fun but mostly with a view from the top. So it's actually a little like a marble maze thing. I don't care too much about the online social network gaming features of a game and so I'm looking for a racer which runs without internet connection, even if there are updates available. I'd download those when at home. But while I'm out and about I'd love to have a great "first person"racer. Any ideas?

I've installed this, too. I like the game, but I really am just the occasional player. So some arcade style racer would be great. Whenever I start Rr3, it just hangs until I turn on some data connection. Maybe this is due to the race against others thingy.
I guess I'm just too old
But growing up, there wasn't internet and games came on 5 1/4 disks and later cartridges. But thanks anyways. I'll check my phone to really see if it was Rr3 I have installed, but I think it is.

How does it run emulators?

So this device apparently starts shipping tomorrow right? When it does can someone please download some emulators and try them out? I would like to especially see the performance of PPSSPP, the PSP emulator. I would be eternally grateful to you. If you have access to various Bluetooth controllers I would like to hear about the compatibility of those as well if possible
Yes, If this product can smoothly run some of the games I have downloaded, then I should be picking one up. I'm sure it going to be hard to download games with such limted storage, but hopefully someone can showcase some quality android titles. It basically has OUYA specs; however, with a more powerful CPU. I want to buy one, as it would be my first Nexus product. Some cool titles I would want to see runnig: MC5, GT racing as Asphalt 8 I've seen, and Need For Speed Most Wanted.
As a regard to emulators, It has 8gb of storage, good luck!

Yeah, definitely. It outscores the GeForce ULP in the Tegra 3 by 2x-10x depending on the benchmark, and specifically handles the higher resolution (like the 1080p at which these devices tend to run) much better. Given the fact that even the Ouya was able to emulate up through the N64 reasonably well I think that the Nexus Player will make a great emulation device.

I believe it was the Ars Technica review where they had the N64 emulator running on it flawlessly. Seems emulation will be great on this box (seemingly one of only a few strong points).

Oh man, thanks for the reply. I was looking to emulate PSP games more than anything but I guess up to N64 and maybe Dreamcast is fine as well.
I use my N64 and SNES emulators and they work great!! It runs better than my Xbox one which sucks at most things.
Here are some pictures of it on my TV using Super GNES and Mupen64
The pictures I took aren't the best but it runs great. You can map the buttons on the gamepad however you want which makes it great and my wife loves it

how many controllers does the adapter support at one time?
I'm using the PCE.emu and Neo.emu and they work fine. Only thing that makes me crazy is that sideloaded apps are too large for the TV display, some menu options are difficult to read. Does anybody know if there is a way to adjust the resolution for sideloaded apps so they fit the TV screen properly?

The listing on Amazon says that it supports up to 4 controllers with the 'direct input' mode, however I tried using the direct input mode and it seemed to not want to use the d pad and all of the buttons performed the same action. Using 'xinput' (I think this just emulates the Xbox controller input) everything mapped perfectly and all was well, the bad news is that it can only do 1 controller at a time using this method, so you'd need 1 usb adapter per controller. Also I have only 1 Wii U Pro controller so I don't have any way to test if multiple controllers even work with the direct input mode, it's worked perfectly with 'xinput' so I haven't moved it from there.
Its hard to see there but on the side there's a toggle switch that lets you pick between 'dinput' and 'xinput'.
How does one install the emulator? Do I need to do this over adb ? If so, how can I download an apk from the play store?
I can't get Super GNES to work. I install it and it says there is a new version on the play store and for me to download it. Well I downloaded it from the play store so I don't see how its not the newest version. Where are you getting your version of Super GNES?

If the app you want to "sideload" is in the normal Play store, all you have to do is load up the Play store on your computer then click install and select your Nexus Player as the device. That simple. You'll also want to install Chainfire's Sideload Launcher app from the Play store as well, as that makes accessing non-android tv optimized apps easier:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.tv.sideloadlauncher&hl=en
If you have an apk you'd rather install manually, you'll have to use adb and an a cable or use ES File Explorer (or equivalent) to transfer the apk from your computer/etc over wifi. There are already a few topics in these threads that discuss how.

I got the same error with the (non-free) non-lite version of GNES. Tried the (free) lite version and that works fine (version 1.5.4). I'm not too experienced with sideloading, but perhaps the non-free nature of the full version of SuperGNES is the issue? The free version sucks though, since you can't load saved states, so it seems I can't continue my progress even though the ROM in question has save functionality.
Just wanted to share my experiences so far, since this is one of the bigger reasons I bought the NP. I've managed to load NES.emu, 2600.emu, MAME4Droid (0.37b5), and Mupen64 AE so far.
Installing apps:
Like many have suggested, I was able to load a couple of apps like ES Explorer and NES.emu through the Google Play web site and selecting the NP as the installation target. However, MAME and a couple of other apps would not install this way, so I have to sideload Aptoide and use that to install the remaining apps. Note that since no web browser is available, I had to use another tablet to identify the stores where apps could be found, and add them manually before selecting apps and installing them.
Navigation:
For the most part, the remote suffices, but it's not perfect. I installed ChainFire's Sideload Launcher, as only NES.emu shows up in my apps menu on the home screen. However, I happened to own a Nyko Playpad (not the Pro) from a while ago that I never really used. While I can't recommend it as a great gaming controller, it does have one key feature that turns it from run-of-the-mill control pad to ultimate NP utility. It contains a switch that allows you to switch between HID, iCade, Mouse, and App modes. It's the Mouse setting that makes this controller truly useful, because without it, I couldn't navigate around MAME to set up my control pad, or navigate around Mupen64 to quit out of a game (how else are people achieving this? Just quitting out?) Basically, to really set up many of the emus properly, you need some kind of mouse input, so it's nice that I can switch the Playpad back and forth between HID and Mouse modes as needed.
Performance:
Obviously, NES.emu and 2600.emu are not really demanding, so they work "flawlessly" (as in, any problems are due to the emulators, not the NP.) I also chose the smaller MAME, and nothing in there really pushes the system too hard. Street Fighter II Turbo ran as fast as expected. The only really challenge to the system was Mupen64. I'm happy to say that it ran everything that it was capable of running at full frame rate, and the only hiccups were related to the emulator itself. It successfully ran Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64, and Mischief Makers. It could not Blast Corps or Bomberman 64.
All in all, I can say that things work well, provided you have the right equipment. For me, the mode switch feature of the Nyko Playpad is indispensable, although if you have a bluetooth enabled mouse device, that will suffice. Things can only get better. I haven't tried PPSSPP yet, but that will be my next test.
Thank you so much sjj.
