Hey,
I'm posting this for a friend.
Nexus 4, running 4.4.2 Kit Kat
Bottom part of the screen isn't responding for a while (can't use the menu\back\home buttons).
He wanted to change ROM (tried installing - Cynogen) on the device and didn't preform a backup (only backed up EFS, and thats no great help here),
Now he is stuck on the "Choose Language" screen, because he can't click the next button...
What does one do in such a case?
Thanks on his behalf.
It seems like the touch screen breaking down.

Hello
I managed to upgrade my phone to Froyo 2.2 JPF fw using ODIN and the files supplyed in the upgrade thread / development forum.
Now my problem is that i can only "unlock" the blank screen only with the "home" button then i need to slide the screen.
Isnt there any setup to tell my phone to use all buttons ... give me a visible screen for all buttons or something like that ?
I fear that my "home" button will wear off

You can unlock the screen also with double-click of "back" and "menu" buttons
Yep true.
I somehow figured out that but thanks
The question now remains ... what can i do with my superoneclick 1.5.5 rooted froyo 2.2 upgraded lagfixv2 fixed phone (gps fix remains still) ?
Why is now my phone a better one then it was with the 2.1 ?
What apps are there to be installed that couldnt be installed without rooting ?
Anyone can give me some tips / tricks ?
Can i somehow change the way it feels/looks ?
I want something more easy to use / more fancy
I saw videos of cyanogenmod that looks a bit better
Also the white stripe on the top of the screen vs the black of the samsung is much much better looking ... Just give me some starting point on what to do with your rooted samsung galaxy 3

Maybe you can try the JB build by Quarx, i don't remember which one, but one of them has the possibility to activate the ICS on screen buttons, check the thread of JB in Android Development.
Here is the link:

unfortunately, my defy 4 android buttons are not working suddently...
but my screen have no crack,
I am using the ICS on-screen button( can customize on-screen button )
frist , your device must running CM9 or CM10
second, if there are no option for on-screen with your ROMs, ( setting > system )
flash the following zip file with recovery mode,

@OP - did you replace the screen yourself? If so did you apply the adhesive to behind the 4 buttons?
I almost made that mistake myself last night..
I'm really enjoying my Nexus 10 but I'm annoyed by the software buttons being in the middle of the screen, as I would like to use them with my left hand while holding the tablet.
Is there a piece of software or tweak that would allow me to move the software buttons to the left (if possible without rooting, like lightflow does with the notification led). I don't want to install a custom launcher or mod, unrooted stock is fine, just wondering if such a software exists.

On stock there is no way. The Paranoid Android Rom allows you to move the buttons.
How do I do this? I flashed to PA butbi can't find that option...

You'll have to change it to tablet mode. It should be under "Paranoid settings." I believe that is the only way to get the buttons on the left. I use the tablet UI and it works great. Much easier to hit those pesky buttons now.
Edit: It's under "Hybrid Properties"

The HTC logo is without function - which is a pity. Is there a chance to give life to it in a future ROM? I would like to see the HTC logo become the menu button
no. Wrong section too. Failed thread

Long hold back is menu ( option can be found in settings) ..
who knows what hides behind the htc logo, but it's 99.99% not a button, otherwise htc would have used it, had a reason for it.
Hi all I would like to buy a used nexus 4 of 10.10.2013, at the price of 150 euro European warranty, I just doubt the seller declares that the virtual keys on the phone do not work and everything else works before you buy i surely you'll see the phone, so i wanted to know, there is pssibilità or a way to figure out if the problem is with the virtual keys or the screen without first changing rom or restore the phone, that is immediate??
You can remove the virtual keys to use the cell with the only home to see if the part of the screen where the buttons are working?
Sorry for my bad english,i use google translate
Download the app "phone tester". It has a function called " multi-touch test". You can just move your finger over the whole screen to check for any blank spots.
Does the phone come completely stock? Because sometimes s2w and d2w cause problems like this.

If your phone has a custom kernel, you can activate and s2w d2w, if your phone has the stock kernel that is not possible. If your phone there are s2w and d2w with phone The application tester will give error in the area of soft keys when you head to the screen?
The app I mentioned is just to see if and where there are blank spots.
I've made the experience that d2w after sometimes makes the left and right side of the screen unresponsive. Others might have made other observations.

tanks before I buy it I'll try the screen with the program who advised me
I picked up the phone, the touch works all the rom and the kernel are original, as I solve the problem of virtual keys??
Does touch input work on the complete screen? There's a button on top to make the touch test run in full screen so you can test all borders and edges. If it does I guess flashing a complete stock image should solve the issues.

It works all the touch screen, the problem is that the keys back - home - menu, they do not work it vertically horizontally into the side of the phone where they are placed, they only work if I turn the phone and I get them to appear in the side where you is the camera.
