[Q] S5 Active - Missing Keyboard OCR Function - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I was going to try out the document mode which uses the OCR input. According to all documentation I could find, there is supposed to be a camera icon inside the keyboard settings. However, when I hold down the keyboard settings button and the icons come up, the camera mode icon is not thee.
This is a rooted S5 with stock recovery and Android Kit-Kat.
Any help would be appreciated.

Open the Galaxy Apps store and download Optical Reader first.

I'm fixed!
That did it, Nothing in the documentation mentioned that app, but it solved the issue. Thanks much!

[Q] Notes 3 camera app all setting menu is missing

I don;t know what happened to my notes 3 ,recently I notified all setting menu for camera, under camera was gone,no such an option for camera, video and setting.also I'm not able to edit photos from here or choose different sense for the photos.
can you please advise how I can re-enable this menu option?

Camera settings missing...
Hey guys,
I have a question I update from 4.3 to 4.4.2, I've root the phone and I have some shortcomings:
1). The camera has no settings.
2). When you go into the alarm settings are no options like in Android 4.3
3). In alarm section, missing tab dock, a kind of screensaver that was current month, the weather and some optional shortcuts. That missing too.
The problem is KitKat 4.4.2 or is because I rooted?
(Since I have studied, I noticed that it is a bug of android)
If anyone has encountered the same problem and it was resolved please contact me.
Thanks in advance.

Downlaod a Samsung based custom rom and extract it with 7-zip and look for the camera app apk. Copy it and place it in system/apps and reboot. That should fix it or look on Google for the Note 3 4.4.2 camera app.

I have no feature of phone choose, like sports, beauty, landscape, etc. and there supposed an option to choose when take picture, shut sounds off option.but nothing there.have to reset phone to get it back. I didn't want to reset phone last time. but I have to reset the phone.
anyway. Is there any option to setup take a photo by using side key like volume up/down?

Advance options in Camera menu.

A lot of people have been complaining about stock camera on Moto G. They complain of not having options to touch to focus, control picture size and many other things.
I decided to look at that and come it with a solution. I an not a Dev so I couldn't. But while clicking pics one day, I found advance option in stock camera in moto g to have these features.
To go to advance option on stock camera of moto g, first open the camera app then hold your phone horizontally. Now open settings by dragging your finger from left to right, when settings would open you can see a bug on the bottom on the right side of the screen. Click on this bug, and voila you'd be in advance configuration of the camera app. From here, you'll be able to change the size of your pics, can add face detection in front cam, touch to focus and many others.
Guys, enjoy.
I can't see the bug on the bottom right of the screen. What stock cam version is this tried on?

Download the attached pic and see in the bottom right corner.
I am running 3.2.14.4 and I don't have that thing, awkward.
Thanks for the tip. Open the settings and the button appears where the video record button was

No go, seems that is a debug mode for the camera, the question is how did you enable it?

There must be a combination of things to endable it...maybe some one can look in te code of the camera app? and find the hidden key combination of things?
just an idea
Many people are not getting the bug so I, myself tried to find it the cause. The results that came out if my outcome is ; if you're on a custom ROM then and then only you can see the bug icon.
From those on the stock, you'll have to wait until I or someone other port the libs of camera and required files to stock ROM to enable that feature.
why i cant see the bug.. seems like a bug to camera or application or the system
Guys, camera libs to Stock ROM seems to be impossible for me as whenever I do that, the stock ROM fails to boot up.
The only way you can get that is try custom took like C ROM or CM11. It is working on both of them, I don't know about others. Try it on other rooms too and see if it works.

Hello there I have the att model, of the galaxy s5 after I rooted the phone using go hots towelroot I noticed one small feature is now gone. Missing Predictive Text?

Anyone elses predictive text disappear on their phone? Had my phone since launch and noticed today my predictive text option along with others such as continuous input are now missing. Checked a buddy's note 5 and he has them in his phone. Tried clearing the data out of the keyboard app and reseting keyboard setting but no luck. I'll attach a screenshot of what my settings look like.

Hey brother, I had the same issue yesterday. You will need to put your phone into safe mode, then you should see the option. Once you see it again, reboot your phone into normal mode.
To put in Safe Mode, Turn off phone. Reboot by holding the power button for a couple seconds. Once you see Samsung on the screen, hold the volume down button until you see Safe Mode in the bottom left of the screen. You should now be able to go into your settings and you'll find the Continuous Input option!!! Then Reboot and you should be good to go!!! :good:
Sweet! Thanks a bunch man.

So after doing this I had to re-enable a few accessibility services and after a while I noticed predictive text was missing again. Long story short it seems like I enabled the optical reader accessibility service and when that is enabled predictive text disappears.

hmm, I didn't lose the predictive text when I enabled the optical reader. I will continue testing.
Not sure if you use it, but if so, do you have any issues with the Direct Call feature?

I know it must be on this board somewhere, I'm having a problem with learned words in my predictive text. Galaxy S7 Edge. On my S5 there was a way to disable learned words, I cannot seem to locate it inside of the keyboard settings on this phone. Please help
I'm having the same problem with my predictive text disappearing. Thanks for the suggestion on rebooting into safe mode it brought it back, but after period of time it disappears again.
It is related to the optical reader setting for me. Turn it off and the predictive bar comes back. The reason why booting into safe mode fixes it, is because safe mode turns off accessibility for all listed apps.
Anyone experiencing this issue, I encourageyou to call Samsung at 800-726-7864 and report it and make them create a trouble ticket. Yeah it will wast a half hour of your time, but maybe it'll get this bug worked out.
Samsung Galaxy S7
Having the optical reader turned on under System / Accessibility causes missing predictive text problem with the Samsung Galaxy S7. Even the tech support staff in the store or on the phone couldn't solve the problem. Nathan's suggestion worked. Thanks.
Now to report this problem to Samsung and my cellular carrier.

I noticed after doing the safe mode method the apps I had enabled under Accessibility>Services (one of which was optical reader) are now "off".
Are you installing "optical reader" from the Galaxy apps store? If so, that's breaking it.
Edit: I see you noticed it in safe mode. That happened to me a while back also.
Having the optical reader turned on under System / Accessibility causes missing predictive text problem with the Samsung Galaxy S7.

[Q] menu button and nearby devices

hi there,
1. i notice that since my S5 which had LP installed, on S7e i cant use the menu button for menu actions cause it is always forces the recent app screen, when i use xda app on my S7e i cant seem to reply or add a new message because isted of showing me the menu of the thread if i press menu button it goes to recent or if i try to press a little longer it give me a notice that xda app does not support multy window.
no matter what i try i cant seem to use the button as menu. and i cant seem to find in settings how to turn it off or at least turn of multy window which will probably will help to use menu button as menu.
/ found a solution for that problem....its called multy window toggle for samsung from play store. stops the annoying multy window.
for the google now that keeps popping on home button just need to uninstall google app and force it to factory app and it wont pop by pressing home button.
2. also on my older S5 with LP i had the option to share media with my ADB streamer via nearby devices in the settings menu. once i open the nearby devices i had few option on which file to share and to which device. but now in the S7e i have the nearby devices but i cant seem to share media with my streamer no more, plus i dont see any option to share media except the on off button and small explanation text about the nearby thing.
for this issue i still didnt find any solution.
both S5 and S7e are stock, my S5 is rooted tho.
can anyone enlighten me about this. maybe i just missed something about both issues ?
thanks for helpers
