Fix No Network/No SIM Registered/IMEI Missing/Baseband Missing
The Problem
On flashing a certain ROM, Kernel or both, some users experience one of the following:
No network signal.
Dialing *#06# shows blank IMEI number.
Unknown Baseband version in the About Phone page of settings.
No SIM Card registered.
How to Fix
There are four options:
Try restoring a Nandroid Backup of a previously working ROM.
Flash stock baseband using Flashtool.
Download and install FlashTool from HERE.
Download the Stock FTF Files from HERE.
Open FlashTool and boot your phone into Flashmode.
Choose the downloaded firmware and exclude all except Baseband as shown in the figure below. You can choose whether to wipe your data/cache.

Thanks to @dipesh1502 for creating this Flashable ZIP.
Alternatively, I've created an FTF for Xperia SP C5302 variant having only Baseband (<1MB). You can download it from HERE.
Flash it using Flashtool.
Hopefully the Baseband problems would be solved by doing any one of the above four fixes!

I've tried that but with no result. I tried flashing all the ROMs that I had at that time with no luck! Glad that it works for you though
I can't fix the issue until I flashed C5303 Baseband (Generic SG, my own FTF), and resulted in stuck at C5302 Indian 12.1.A.1.201 (not receiving 12.1.A.1.205). Compilation of Indian FTF may have tons of issue, as USA C5302 FTF does work perfectly on my C5303.

I guess different variants of Xperia SP have different basebands. So you can't fix the issue until you flash its own baseband. Correct me if I'm wrong.
And I don't know about the difference in FTFs of different regions. I've used only Indian FTFs so far.

I wish it is, but I saw a C5302 user flashing Indian .207 update for C5302 and got the same problem.
Also it's pretty weird that my SP (C5303) flashing USA .201 and .205 for C5302 HSPA+ works perfectly with no baseband problem. While both can't run when I flash Indian C5302. More like compilation have issue because with USA and SGP FTF (SGP is mine), verification is automatically disabled while Indian version is enabled. Based on what I saw when tryingbto compile FTF, any Android version after 4.0.x, will have to disable verification checks while compiling and also when flashing. I disabled verification check while flashing Indian C5302 FTF manually and it fails every time. Maybe it's time for fix, as if this continues it'll annoy darn lots of users because of baseband issue and thus SIM not detected.
P.S. Sorry for long post. Just to get my point across clearly as far as I can.

BaseBand Fix.zip from step from above contains 2 folders (System and META-INF); What do you do with either this zip file or its contents. For sure it does not go into the firmwares folder (since it is not picked up by the flashtool). The same thing goes for the alternate method of step 4; placing that in the firmwares folder yields nothing - it is not listed in the flashtool thereafter. I have the latest version of the tool and also the version prior to that. Please say what I am doing wrong because obviously I am doing something crazy

If i update to this ROM would i be able to connect my cell to 3G connection. The thing is i bought this on ebay in Singapore and when it comes i realized that bands in america are different. however i read before that this cellphone is quadriband and that supposed to make it available to connect but i needed to changed the ROM somehow. Can this Rom change that? thanks.
Can you make me a favor?

- Repair using SEUS (just to download files in blob_fs folder.
- decrypt and create bundle from SEUS files in blob_fs
?
I just want to check if SEUS will repair it, my LT18a is prototype, so can you try to do it? I'm not sure about the SI numbers for US generic If you be so kind, I really appreciate it, if you want I will pay $$ Paypal just for the help.

SEUS always repairs phones, regardless of whatever firmware is on it.
However, it will not always download the current firmware you have on the phone. It may download your region's current firmware.

No, it will not change the hardware of your phone. It is probably quadband, but that doesn't mean it has the correct band. It will not work on AT&T, maybe TMo, but I am not sure. It all comes down to hardware and SIM card, not so much ROM.
I have a LT18a Arc S that works on AT&T 3G here in the US. LT18i = international, LT18a = Americas (and possibly a hand full of other countries). I'm relocating to Singapore next month for a while, I have my fingers crossed that it will get 3G there. I can't seem to find what bands the Singapore carriers use. Then again I haven't really looked too hard. If it doesn't work, I'm sure I can find something over there worth buying.
In the end I used 4SE from simlock.com, they have a GEL and US variants, GEL=less bloatware, its Generic for Latin Americas.

You can flash any build as long as you don't downgrade from v2.3.4 to a lower version (v2.3.3 or v2.3.2).

mate bluechipj...
can I use this to downgrade my arc s LT18i? it is currently on android version 2.3.4,baseband 64, build number 4.0.2.A.0.62
i just want to have a root access.
my plan is to downgrade to .42, then root with zergrush exploit or iclick rooting and lastly update via OTA to .62 and hopefully the root access is still there.
do you think this will work out? Coz ive just read from your thread on LT15i that some people are able to do it with their arc. but here on arc s, still no feedback if somebody able to do it. any idea mate? thanks in advance

OTA updates maintain root. Will update post #1.
Flash .42, root with zergRush, force an OTA update in Settings / About.

and btw, is there any technique or procedure to successfully updated via OTA? coz ive read that some people claims that OTA is not available on their phone and the system says its already updated.

Any firmware can be flashed onto any phone and everything will work, including data. (Will require manual setup of Settings / Wireless / Mobile Networks / APN. Or backup your existing settings with APN Backup and Restore: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.riteshsahu.APNBackupRestore&hl=en) All firmwares contain both software radios for "i" and "a". However, hardware radios are fixed. You cannot make an LT18a into an LT18i by flashing firmware or vice versa. However, an LT18i will still get "i" 3G in an "i" zone with an "a" firmware and vice versa.
As long as there is an update available for the firmware (which there is for USA .42), you can update over the air while maintaining root as long as you have not modified or removed any system files.
e.g. changed themes, fonts, notification bar, widgets, etc.
If you install an "a" firmware, it will continue to update to the next "a" firmware and vice versa.

hello friends,
let me begin by introducing myself, i am developer for Xperia devices (X10, ARC, PLAY, S, T, Z, Z1) and am the Lead Developer of Team UtterChaos, member of Team ICX and was associated with Team FreeXperia, ... i have some experience in development for Xperia devices, specifically in kernels, rooting & recoveries and i have various how-to, reference threads which are very helpful to new & advanced users alike across various device communities... i hope even this thread will be useful to everyone... if you would like to know what things i have worked on before feel free to check some of the links in my signature below...
so some of u must be new to the Sony Xperia family & even if u are not, this should be useful... this thread should get u up to speed on what you need to know for this device...
i will try to cover some very basic things and try to touch upon some advanced topics...
i will be dividing this thread into various sections, and each section will point to an individual post...
following is the list of sections covered:
Basics
FlashTool
Bootloader Unlocking & Relocking
Rooting
Recovery
Flashing Custom Kernel
Flashing Custom ROMs
for those who are interested in development are free to contact me via p.m.... BUT PLEASE do not ask generic questions, post all generic queries at the forums/threads...

Basics
[ various bootmodes ]
newest Sony devices have three boot modes... these bootmodes can be reached when device is powered off...
Normal - just press power button and device starts booting
Flashmode - this mode is used to flash stock OFFICIAL firmware using flashtool, denoted by GREEN LED (this is similar to DOWNLOAD/ODIN mode of the Samsung devices)
Fastboot mode - this is a special mode, denoted by BLUE LED, used when we want to flash custom kernel, custom system images, for that we need to unlock bootloader, i will tell more details about this later...
[ various key combinations ]
this is most important part...
known key combinations so far:
while device is power OFF
Volume Up + USB cable connected to PC -> FASTBOOT MODE (BLUE LED will light up)
Volume Down + USB cable connected to PC -> FLASHMODE (GREEN LED will light up)
while device is power ON
Volume Up + POWER (for 10 seconds) -> resets the battery, its like removing the battery and putting it back in [device will vibrate once]
Volume Up + POWER (for additional 5 seconds, total 15 seconds) -> will power off hard, device will power down [device will vibrate thrice]

What it all means for u:
Kernel version:
Sony has released this device with 3.4.0 kernel. When custom kernels are released (they will surely be soon) this string will change.
Model number:
The Xperia Z2 has model number as D65xx and has few models. They differ in the spectrum of frequencies supported for 3G/WCDMA http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_z2-6144.php
D6502/L39h - HSDPA
D6503 - LTE
D6543
Android version: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_(operating_system)
Sony officially launched this phone with android version 4.4.2 (aka KitKat).
Baseband version: [linked to firmware version]
(Crudely) this is a software interface which communicates with radio -> gsm/wcdma (2g/3g)/LTE, basically acts as a base for the main OS to ‘talk-to’ the hardware on the phone [I know this explanation isn’t precise even partly incorrect.. if someone can help me out I will update it]
This is similar to the "radio" image of the HTC devices.
Build number: [aka firmware version]
This is dependent on which firmware u flash on ur phone and is linked to the baseband version.
Btw some devs use this field to add their own ‘signature’ to the ROM so if u are using custom ROMs this field might be varying. Though the Baseband version for a particular firmware remains same.
what is firmware?
The firmware is a package containing all the official software for a particular build. It will contain system, kernel & baseband files. Generally the firmware is supplied (on forums) in form of FTF package (a container file ending with .ftf) which can be flashed via FlashTool.
what are the ways to update/repair firmware?
SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) / PCC (PC Companion) / EMMA are all official ways to update to new or repair existing firmware on your device. SEUS/PCC are available to all users (consumers), EMMA is special and is only available to select individuals. This requires you to connect device to PC and then the software will check for updates and download them over the internet.
Updates can also be sent as FOTA (Firmware over-the-air)/OTA (over-the-air) updates where in you can download and install the updates without the need to connect to PC/any software.
FlashTool is an unofficial user-created tool, but the best way to flash official firmwares. Generally the firmware is supplied in form of FTF package (a container file ending with .ftf) which can be flashed via FlashTool. Thus FlashTool is the easiest way to do offline updates, just download the FTF file, it keep on PC and flash ur device when ever you want to.
FlashTool
Flashtool is one of the MOST IMPORTANT piece of software for ur phone, it is an unofficial, but the best way to flash official firmwares on both locked and unlocked bootloader devices. Generally the firmware is supplied in form of FTF package (a container file ending with .ftf) which can be flashed via FlashTool. Thus FlashTool is the easiest way to do offline updates, just download the FTF and keep on PC and flash ur device when ever you want to. One can also flash select partitions using FlashTool, say you want to flash baseband(radio) from newer/older firmware but want to keep the main system the same u can do that using newest FlashTool! FlashTool also supports fastboot modes! so if you are not very comfortable with command line then u can use the FastBoot Toolbox inbuilt into FlashTool to fastboot the kernels!
FlashTool can be used to flash both locked and unlocked bootloaders devices.
For all flashtool informations (download links, release notes, FAQ) go to the Flashtool Homepage
As a co-developer of Flashtool I have already added support for the Z2!
official version can be downloaded from this thread!

If you haven't already, why don't you start a specific thread in the Q&A section so this thread doesn't get hijacked.
Will unlocking the bootloader on the Z2 clear user data? The reason why I'm asking is because I'm used to the Nexus (4 and 7 at least) devices where the "oem unlock" command also clears userdata.
Hey guys,
I've had my S4 for a while now and I've been happily switching around between ROMs and getting the newest versions of Android ever since Jelly Bean. Now I've recently been noticing that my wifi and 3G is acting up. I constantly lose the connection (shows up as a small exclamation mark on the wifi/3G symbol) and while sometimes I can fix it simply by switching to airplane mode and back, it often requires a reboot to get things working again.
While I have been updating my ROMs quite frequently, I've never actually touched the modem firmware, which makes me think that it's probably the reason for these problems. Which leads me to the following questions I have:
1) Where can I find the right firmware version? All I know is that my phone is a I9505 from the German carrier 1&1 and that the baseband is XXUEMKF (I vaguely remember that it may have been a different baseband in the past, I may have fooled around with it back when I was completely new to custom ROMs).
2) Is there any way of updating the baseband without using Odin? My USB connection has a loose contact. Charging still works, but data transfer only works if the phone is ABSOLUTELY not moving. Even so much as breathing on the phone will cause it to lose connection. I do most of my data transfers over wifi with Airdroid, so this hasn't bothered me until now. Any way to get around using Odin?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm running Resurrection Remix 5.5.7 (Lollipop 5.1.1)
I'm in Sweden and wishing someone with experience made it easier to find most up to date firmware and maybe even a brief explaination on fixes. Also I'd like to know for all these roms if there is a possible ROM + FIRMWARE package possible so you always have the correct firmware for your rom, i.e running Lollipop 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 or 5.1 or 5.1.1 seems to be needing different f/w's (or am I completely wrong?)
I'm currently running [JDCTeam][STABLE][5.1.1][1 November] Optimized CyanogenMod 12.1 build with latest update and I'm getting the "known" black screen in calls which is so annoying.
But when I run Aurora S6 Port 5.2 [OTA Update 1.6 by JASONRR] I have NO ISSUES what so ever.
Please someone explain this!

You guys probably need to update bootloader and modem. You can manually flash them or flash a stock Lollipop rom.
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9505
Try this version. I9505XXUHOJ2
It doesn't matter from which country. Flash it using Odin (you can only update modem and bootloader using Odin). Afterwards you can restore you rom.

Since I'm still less then 10 posts I can't post external links...I have that and "sammobile dot com", but what I didn't know was that you could flash from different countrys, this is new to me. So a new question arises and that is why in several posts here on XDA there are lists with multiple selections depending on location like this thread [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025 ].
Thanks

It's only used as a reference to know where a firmware was released. It doesn't matter if you pick a firmware released in for example Germany or one released in Sweden. Same firmware but different label. Just ignore it.
ps the black screen will be solved after you update modem+bootloader.

*Update*
Updated the Bootloader (BL_UHOJ2.tar) and Modem (CP_UHOJ2.tar) but blackscreen in calls persists
And since I know that it works 100% in Aurora ROM I'm guessing it's a software issue (I presumed it was fw but maybe not). Running "Proximity Fix" doesn't fix it either, sensor still shows 0cm! It isn't a bad sensor i.e no air blowing issue!
Please advice!!
Thank you

Sorry for the late reply, but I'm still a little intimidated by all this. Which firmware version should I flash? There's the HOJ2 version that seems to exist for many different countries and carriers and some are described as being for branded (simlocked?) phones. My phone is unlocked and I'm using the carrier 1&1 in Germany. Which version do I download? And why is it a 1.5GB file? I thought this was just the modem and bootloader? Or does it only come in combination with a full stock ROM?
Also, any tips on where to download, all the links I find are for filesharing sites that throttle non-premium downloads to ridiculously low speeds.
it's add just now on huawei official site

Dial *#*#2846579#*#*. Go into Network information, then Vendor/Country info.
You should have one of these:-
1. hw/spcseas - Asia i think
2. unicomelectric/cn – China
3. hw/meafnaf – Middle East and Africa (i think)
4. mts/by – Europe (I think lol)
I dont know if there are more, however... Match ur vendor/country with CUST to another country and try that countries own.
Like i used Egypt. Egypt is CUSTC185. Nigeria is also CUSTC185. and they are both Vendor/Country info - hw/meafnaf
From your picture, is your CUST = C02?

Sadly, it won't. This is for KII-L21 and not KIW-L21
Regardless, have u tried downloading 'HiCare' app from playstore and select OS Early Adopters option? Try that. Also try refreshing for new update in Updater app.
This is a rather risky method, http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/how-to/emui-4-0-android-6-0-1-kiw-l21-c185-t3428478
But there is someone on the 6th page who said it worked. However, if you dont know what you are doing... Dont touch that method. cheers!

Two solutions
1. Probably because you have custom recovery (from rooting your phone). Flash back to stock recovery for B301 and try again.
2. If you have stock recovery, try flashing the update from external sd and not internal sd memory. Cheers!

Maybe you have to flash B130 first then upgrade to B140. Then you can upgrade directly to B310.
Check region of your phone. It is hw meafnaf? C185. That's what this upgrade is for.

I come from 301 beta MM
GR5 KII L21 the Egyptian version running C185B130CUSTC185D002
i was running linage Os 14.1 unlocked bootloader locked frp then i flashed a twrp for GR5 KII L21 but i wasn't sure if its the Egyptian version , anyway [1]- i did flash it and after the flashing the stock rom it ran successfully except that the sim is always in emergency call and when i type in dial *#*#2846579#*#* and enter the network info section - SIM lock info it shows NW_NS_SP_LOCKED , whenever i insert SIM CARD IT REQUIRES a PUK code and i entered it 6 times already and it failed so there is 4 more to get my number blocked , [2]- i put the dload file of C185B310CUSTC185D004 in the sdcard and installed it by running update from sdcard in the *#*#2846579#*#* menu and it's still with the same SIM error so [3]- i did the same with C185B130CUSTC185D002 (which i'm currently using) and it's still with the same SIM error
and since i flashed that stock rom first , the bootloader has gone back locked and the twrp has been replaced with the e recovery of course , unfortunately the huawei unlocking link is not working bc of 404 erro
So I NEED HELP !!!!!!

I have no idea he was calling it samfail before I asked him to stop. Idk about you guys but that screenshot looks fuzzy and ancient to me. Like the first sampwnd did with eng system and aqcf combo boot.
The eng kernel does NOT boot on our devices. It gives an error of something like "please install user Firmware" if you flash it. I know this first hand. I also know it's NOT public firmware and hasn't been given out anywhere online.
My guess is it's an old combo boot/kernel as those are labeled as "ENG BOOT AND ROOT" all over the internet before the combo factory firmwares were common. If you search XDA you will find threads where elliwigy is *****ing about the exact same issue of people telling him they have eng boot when it's always combo.
In short, I don't believe a word of it . Confident enough in that statement that I'll happily eat crow if he has some magic eng boot that works
Hey maybe it charges to 100% and has unlocked bootloader too! I ???
That Version is for 9550 Versions.
That AP comes from that image:Tomato-G9550-QJ8-v5.0-freeODIN(线刷版)
in the complete Tomato are these Files:

Its easy to create Roms for that phone. you can inject Custom System.img in stock AP. You only need to replace them with own System.img.ext4 and only need is to retar it with 7zip. then reflash that with Odin. That method works with 9550 and i bet with 955/950 versions too. I already creating my rom list for 9550 to publish here. These Roms are all from China and the Soul Rom 835 comes with Playstore and prerooted .

Hello
So, I have the G-9550 Hong Kong variant.. I bricked it and need to Odin flash firmware back to the phone.. Is this rom safe or no.? If not is there a better alternative. I haven't found anything. I'm in the U.S. on T-mobile. Thanks for your help..!
