Want to go back to MJE from NC2 - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not happy with KitKat. Would like to revert back to JB with cleanrom. Can anyone help?

Are you KK via OTA or did you upgrade through a ROM?

Upgraded through rom and Odined firmware.

Then you can Odin back to JB. Just flash the tar file found in the development thread and your back.

If I Odin flash the MJE tar, will I lose root?

Yes you will. The tar is a stock file. Just use the root method you used to root on JB

i want to do this aswell but my phone and computer wont recognize each other. i tried uninstalling all drivers and reinstalling them including kies3. even with debugging on still no connection. this is weird because it used to work without a problem.

you messed up your Pit file, no biggie just go to the development section and download the Pit file and MJE tar. once you have those flash using odin 3.09, put Pit in the pit section and mje in the AP section, hit start and profit. Easiest root method is kingo
can i download the mj7+pit file and flash those? Or it must be MJE? Also could I have the links for the correct file, kinda freaking out and do not want to odin any other bad files .
Thanks!

It has to be MJE. You can't downgrade. Follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483380
And don't use that root method. It only worked on the mi9. The only way to root MJE is with kingo. Google it. Good luck!
Sorry to jump in this thread, but ill be in the same boat unless someone can help out. I am rooted mj9, is there anyway to upgrade to mje other than odin? I have unistalled frameworks, wanam, safestrap, everything unfroze, but still cannot get update to install?
Should i just follow the above?
Thanks

If the ota is not working, odin to MJ7 (you may need to factory reset also), install the ota, then use kingo to root.
Odin
Odin is the easiest way to do all this. If your having troubles Odin back to stock, there is a file to do that, it's 2 gigs. Once your stock again, use Kingo to root. There is also a better superuser.apk than what comes with Kingo, just google it, then flash that after your rooted.
There are no shortcuts, do it the way you see in this thread or you could have issues.

Ok, if that is the best option, should i just simply odin to MJE instead of MJ7? or better to stick to the MJ7 that im currently on?
Thanks again,

Some people are reporting the upload is corrupt though. The uploader said he would upload another version sometime today.

Personally, I used Odin to get back to stock MJ7, took the update, rooted with Kingo, installed chainfires superuser, then installed safestrap and flashed the ROM I use back on my stock slot. I would definitely replace the superuser app that comes with Kingo though, just to be cautious. Hope this helps.

[Q] Reverting from CM10/11 to AT&T Stock Firmware / ROM

I gave my wife my GS4 which I had on CM11 and she did not like it as it is constantly dropping her data connection and stopping her texts from sending receiving. I downgraded to CM10.2 and still the same issue. She absolutely hates it, so I am now looking to revert the phone back to 100% original form with stock firmware and ROM.
Is there a guide on XDA for how to do this on an AT&T GS4? I know that I will have to do this through ODIN, but want to make sure that I do everything precisely so that the phone doesn't get bricked.
Can I download the stock MDL ROM from here: sammobile. com/firmwares/3/?download=14623 and just install with supplied instructions via ODIN and be back to stock? Will those go ahead and overwrite CWM bootloader and all of that at the same time?
The phone still has the MDL baseband on it if that helps.
Thanks in advance.
Yes you can d/l the stock mdl rom from sammy and yes it will erase Cwm recovery and replave with stock....after you flash the stock mdl rom be sure to root and freeze the update apps....

Thanks for the confirmation. Just reverted back and she is already much happier with the stock ROM. Thanks again.

[Q] S4 MF3 Update?

I know this is more than likely the most remedial question that can be asked, but I am completely stumped at this point.
I have the S4 running on MF3. I have installed Safestrap 3.65 TWRP 2.6.3.1 installed and running Goldeneye 8.0, but the device is just continuing to slow down as the days progress.
Is it possible to update from 4.2.2 (MF3) to 4.3, and then hopefully 4.4.2? At this point I'm not really concerned about losing my root, I'd rather restore the device to stock, and then get to the latest OS and then go from there.
Thanks
Just Odin the mf3 tar file and get back to stock. Then take the ota update.

Thanks for your response
Do I have to worry about Safestrap and the other installed OS (Goldeneye)?
Do I just go through Safestrap, restore the stock OS, and then flash the .tar file through Odin?

Odin will over write all of it. You'll lose root

Great. So just flash the MF3 tar, everything will be put back to stock, and then use the ATT software update.

Did you unzip the NC2 kernel package and use the file inside?

I could be wrong but if you updated the with the OTA I think your NC4 upgrade will increment some counter that prevents you from rolling back. Even if you have root. Unless you were already on an nc2 rom...

I think the person that posted above your last post is right about not being able to downgrade since you're on the NC4 bootloader. Try booting into the stock recovery and doing a factory reset.
Get into recovery. And factory reset.
If that doesn't work.
Restore your back up in ss.
If you can't even get into safe strap..
You need to flash the appropriate. .Pit file to fix your phone.
The OTA thing is crucial... I really don't think you can roll back if you took the update OverTheAir

Had the same issue last night, rebooted to recovery factory reset & wipe cache then reboot
If it doesn't work on the first reboot try a couple more times mine booted on the third attempt
While you can't roll firmware back you can still odin the nc2 kernel on a nc4 build

[Q] Odin One Click Problem...

Hey guys, I'm trying to flash [ROM][ODIN]SPH-L720 MF9 (MF9 Modem/Kernel/Bootloader/ROM - No Data Wipe - Rooted) by rwilco12. This is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2486134 . I cannot proceed with flashing because I have run into a bit of a problem. I am trying to flash to unlock my phone but at step 8 I've run into a snag. After I press start it fails. I see the yellow com box and everything but it still fails, I am also in Download Mode. I will include a before start picture and then what happens when it fails..see attached. TY.
Are you on MK2 or NAE by chance? If you are you cannot go back to the MF9 bootloader and that would explain the Odin failure.

Ok I just did the MK2/NAE tar which is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663619 . After I did that I tried to flash the One click again and it still gave me the fail...why?
Try the non-one click with Odin v3.07 and just the .tar file.

If you are on MK2 or NAE currently, you cannot use that one click program. It is only for use with the prepackaged MF9 rom that it comes with.

Ok I have successfully flashed the rom NAE .tar you just gave to me...But what does that do for me? To domestic unlock my phone I have to revert back to MF9 touchwiz rom. And according to frostedunit I cannot flash to MF9 when I have NAE as my current baseband.
You can still flash MF9 ROM/Modem but you cant flash the MF9.tar file because it includes a non-KNOX bootloader

I know im being really nooby and annoying you with questions but the TW Rom for MF9 is located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357471 but which one do I download? Is it the stock MF9 Recovery?
None of those include the modem.. just ROM. Idk to much about unlocking phones but are you sure you need the mf9 rom and modem or just the modem to unlock your phone?
Honestly I'm not positive but in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530610 he says that he reverted back to the MF9 touchwiz rom so Im just trying to be a robot and follow directions...I'm really just doing this for a friend and know little about the S4 community let alone this is a dumb Sprint phone. I have a OnePlus One myself.

No you cant flash because you have the new bootloader but cant you go ahead and do the unlocking now?
