Activate MyTouch with Canadian Carrier

Hello guys,
Just got an unlocked T-Mobile MyTouch and I'm trying to get past the dreaded initial sign in. What I found so far is that I need to create a new APN for my carrier. Mine is Fido and the values that I've found are the following:
Name: Fido
APN: internet.fido.ca
Proxy: leave empty
Port: leave empty
Username: fido
Password: fido
Server: leave empty
MMSC: ttp://mms.fido.ca it's http but being a new user I can't post links
MMS Proxy: 205.151.11.13
MMS Port: 80
MMC: 302
MNC: 370 (on new sim cards, use 37 on old sim cards)
APN Type: leave empty
I've tried adding this new APN, bought a one day Data Pass from Fido and I still can't connect to the internet. Any Ideas?
When I'm searching for networks, it only shows Rogers Wireless. Is that normal?
When I try to connect to it, it doesn't let me.
Finally, beside the battery sign and the signal strength sign, I have a sim card with an exclamation sign.

I was looking into rooting the phone by creating a goldcard and then downgrading to 1.5 but it seems that I have to be able to check USB Debugging within Android, meaning that I have to get passed the activation screen.
I've also tried the following:

Is my phone locked?
Hello guys,
This might sound like a silly question, but I just bought a M3G off ebay and when I boot it, I get a screen which says SIM network unlock PIN and 2 buttons "unlock" and "dismiss". If I click dismiss, the screen goes away and it prompts me to sign in.
The auction stated that the phone was unlocked. Is my phone locked or not?
Sounds to me like it is.

Ok, turns out that my phone is locked and that when I try to add an APN and click save, it does not show up in the list and I'm not able to then select it.
Is that because my phone is locked?
Is it also why it does not let me connect to my network when I search for networks?

GoPhone (Att prepaid) called me out today on my Note

So a few days ago my text messaging completely stopped working.
Cannot figure out why.
Was prodding GoPhone today for a solution for my "Razr"...when he said 'btw, your sim card says you have a Samsung phone'...'did you put a Samsung sim in your phone?!
I did ditch my gophone sim a couple weeks ago and got 4g sim from Att.
He said thats your problem.
My understanding was they couldnt tell from sims or imeis?
Wonder if the gigs up with.prepaid smartphoners.

Not all Samsung phones are smartphones. I'm confused, didn't you begin this with the premise that you were working with a prepaid go phone sim card?

Yeah I did....but was could not get the H+...or any data at all (perhaps I didn't wait long enough)...So I walked into an Att store and got a 4G card.
All worked well til last weekend til the problems began.

You activate it with a dumb phone, then changed your APN's in the Note to match right?

Welp... That was quick... They called me out on my $15/mo unlimited pretty quickly...

I went into ATT...got another 4G similar card....text/MMS working fine now.
However I DO think they are monitoring activity close now.
I've already sent a few MMS's ....which when identified, I believe will have ATT nix these functions again.
Ah well....it'll be the 4G plan and contract at that point.

I wonder when att will carry the note

That's what I have and it works for me. I'm on a grandfathered unlimited plan, the phone is usually on H+ but due to my crap signal here it drops to 3G once in a while.

I don't think the gophone, or the medianet plans are supposed to touch 4g at all, aren't they 3g plans?
You use different settings for them. It's probably the 4g that got you busted.

use the following apn settings for your samsung at&t compatible 3g device. This will let you use hspa+ aka fake 4g.

From what I can tell, there are only two correct sets of APN settings; the newer 4g data plan settings, and the older data plan settings that incorporate the dumbphone plans. It may look like you've seen more different sets than that, but I think if you look closely and ignore the "Name:" field, you'll see they all boil down to one of two. The name doesn't matter and it's only for you on the phone to identify the settings. It never gets transmitted to the network.
So you'll see several variations of it as different people think of different names to give that set of settings, but there are only two functioning APN settings' for AT&T.

We should perhaps take a survey of people who got busted, but the 4G specific APNs seem to all have a null APN and APN proxy.
The 'safe' medianet ones seems to all have an APN of wap.cingular.

What type of phone (cheapest) needs to be purchased with the GoPhone plan in order to have the Unlimited Data plan? I was considering StraightTalk but the cheapest phone that comes SIM-ready is $99 (E71 Refurbished).

When i got busted I think i was using the
Name broadband
Apn broadband
You can get a strong connection with that but it signals Att in a not good way I think.
The Apns without the username and password I think are best....ie keeps you under the radar better.

[Q] Activate N4 on AT&T - Data Problems

I think I need some help with activating my N4 and getting the right data speeds that I should be. Here's my problem:
Got my N4 yesterday, and at the same ported my number from Sprint to AT&T. Popped in the sim card and started using it. Voice and texting worked fine (from what I could tell), but no data. My AT&T business rep told me my IMEI wasn't accepted in his system (probably just because it's a new phone?) so that he had to code it as a SGS3. I looked online and found somewhere talking about if they assign an LTE profile to the N4 it will get crummy service. And that's exactly what I was seeing from the Speedtest.net app. I called him back and told him what I read and he tried a different phone, which seemed to help the noticeable speed of loading web pages. Somehow during the day it got reset to a SGS3, so I went in to the ATT store last night and reassigned a Moto Atrix (original) to my N4.
Now the page loading seems plenty fast and if I go into Settings - About Phone - Status the network shows HSPA:10 and HSPA+:15, but if I pull up Speedtest.net and run a test it's atrocious again. Average is like 300-1400 ms ping, 4 kbps down, 800 kbps up.
What I'm not sure of is if I really am getting lousy speeds, or if the Speedtest.net app is broken for the N4 or Android 4.2. However, if I jump on WiFi and do a speed test it pulls accurate results.
I have tried the APN settings found here on the forums, I've tried using the Offline APN Database app from the Play store, and even tried the APN settings given to me by an ATT customer service rep.
Anyone have any experience they can share? I just want to make sure I'm getting the right data speeds I'm paying for. Thanks.

i am having same problem..only default apn works. speedtest wont work but data seems faster. by the way i am on medianet plan.

Anecdotal, but I just had them whip up a new Micro SIM at an AT&T store, popped it in, set my APNs, and it worked fine. It SOUNDS like they are mucking up something on their end. Tell them to remove any phone identifier if they can.

Add a new APN with the following settings. It helped me. You may need to get an AT&T REP to assign you to a different data plan if it doesn't work but it worked for me as soon as I switched to it.
Name: AT&T US HSDPA

I had similar issue when I activated my sim on my N4. Because they don't have the imei in their system you may get bumped to a data plan that doesn't support Hspa+. Tell them to remove the imei. In my case they used the imei from my sgs2(my previous phone I had data plan with) and it works now. Only issue is I'm not getting great speeds only around 2-3kbps. Not sure if its still mucked up on their end

Seems identical to mine, save for the name. Definitely try these if you don't already have them.

Yeah this is what worked for me as well. I'm working with an AT&T corporate support rep, I'll let you guys know what he says. Seems like I am getting much better speeds via speedtest.net. MMS also works with those settings.
EDIT: Just got an 800ms ping twice. That just doesnt feel right.

I added hipri to the same settings you guys listed above saw an increase in speeds. Top 3 are with hirpi added

Speedtest.net isn't giving me accurate readings (0.8 KB/s down...) but I'm still on HSPA:15 and data works fine. Using the default APN settings that everyone else in here is using, except I added hipri to the APN modes.
MediaNET plan here.

So I've been playing with the phone for the past few days. The data is definitely better than where I started, but I am getting complaints from people calling me that the phone rings and rings without ever getting to VM, or that sometimes it rings a couple times and plays a generic AT&T message. I also notice loss of service every now and then. Any ideas guys? This is a little ridiculous. Should be plug and play. Wonder if it's because AT&T made up an IMEI for me?
EDIT: Sometimes when I do a speedtest I get a network communication error or if I use the Coverage Map app it gives me a failed for downloads. Data is intermittent.

Verizon branded LGV20 On tmobile, no 4G and no LTE

So, I got my LGv20 through work as I do all my phones and usually just pop in my tmobile sim, mess with the APN and bam, 4GLTE and all is good. But, for the life of me I cannot get 4g or LTE on this damn phone. I know my APN settings are good as I have been using them on my note 7 and s7 edge and a slew of others but the lgv20, like the lgv10 before it, will NOT do lte let alone 4G. I know it can do it as occasionally i will se 4Glte in the display but it goes right back to "H" in a few seconds. Any help to maintain 4glte on this would be greatly appreciated.:angel:

Under mobile networks you have mobile data on, data roaming on, network mode set to GSM/WCDMNA/LTE auto right?
Looking at the Verizon model, it does not support band 12 which could be why you see it for a second (if you have weak band 4 coverage).
Try this if you're willing to mess around with the modem/radio settings
Dial
*#546368#*995#
Go to field test option
Modem settings
LTE Band selection
Choose band 4
Then hit the home soft key and see if that fixes it. You can revert back to auto scanning by going back into that Modem settings menu and choosing Network Mode and setting it to AUTO.
IF you see a band 12, you can try that and see if you can force the phone onto it as well. Keep in mind, until you choose the AUTO network mode, the modem is locked to that LTE band I believe
Do this at your own risk - I use it to turn on/off lte bands personally and don't have issues but each person/phone is different

I tried this a while ago on both a VZW sim and a Tmo sim and it never works. With a tmo sim I get connection problem with MMI code and with a VZW sim it just calls VZW with an error.

That is really strange since the bands support is there and from my understanding VZW phones are all ulocked from the factory.
Have you tried calling Tmobile? Maybe its' the sim itself causing an issue or you're not provisioned properly in their system

I had the same issue when I was using the verizon variation of the V20. I would actually recommend just trying to find the H918 then you can even get the correct the antenna bands for LTE.
Otherwise I just used it with "H+"

Do you have a T-Mobile sim card? You can use AT&T unlocked phones on T-Mobile networks but not 100% usage. AT&T phones do not use 1700, or 12 LTE band.

Yes. Of course. Talk and text are working, just unable to get data.

I went to the T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge forum, and Flashed T-Mobile Firmware, using a modified version of ODIN, and a PIT file.
My phone now boots up as a T-Mobile Phone, In Settings, About Device shows as SM-G9
All At&T bloatware is gone, and now have T-Mobile apps.
I even received a Software update push from T-Mobile, which downloaded and installed.
I never had to root. Android pay works, Data works.
Basically just converted a SM-G935A into a SM-G935T
