I want to buy a s5 but I need it to work with my appradio 2 like my s3 does. Any help would be awesome
You didn't even provide a description and link to the app you would like help with?
.
I would be willing to use any app so I can have full mirror of my Samsung galaxy s5 on my appradio 2. I was using ARL and my Samsung galaxy s3 which worked but I bought a s5.
Any help would be great..
AppRadio
So I have been struggling with the same scenario. I used to have an S3, which worked perfectly with ARLiberator, then I preferred AppRadio Unchained (which is a modified version of Pioneer's official, but limited app).
I have tried just about everything, disabling KNOX, trying to set SELinux to permissive, but nothing allowed touch controls on my radio. The only solution that I have found that is working today is the official AppRadio apk, released by Pioneer. This connects (very slowly) then only allows a handful of apps to work.
At least I can use Waze or some "approved" Pioneer apps.
That's all I got for now. Very, very disappointed that my S5 doesn't work like the good ole S3.
Hope this helps someone.

I'm sure when I read the "fix" it will be posted for everyone to read. I'm certain that we're not the only two people with fancy radios that no longer work the way they used to.

During the official Samsung announcement for the SGS3 on May 3, they talked about integrating MirrorLink support into the phone. This is actually why I purchased this phone. I recently purchased a MirrorLink compatible car stereo, the Sony XAV-601BT. After several frustrating hours, a Samsung rep told me that only the Korean version supports MirrorLink. He suggested downloading an app from the Play Store called "Sh.air" by a company called M&SERVICE. It's the only thing that he knows about that would make the SGS3 compatible with MirrorLink at this time.
The problem is that the entire thing is in Korean (I think...I can't read it). It doesn't do me any good to have a Korean interface on my car dashboard. However, this means that the MirrorLink standard is software based and (probably) only requires the MHL connection in a cell phone.
Does anyone know if there are any MirrorLink compatibility apps in development? I would really like to get this working in my car. Any help or information is appreciated.
I'm using MHL with a Pioneer AppRadio 2. It's an option for you if Samsung doesn't implement MirrorLink for you.
How do you like your AppRadio 2? I was actually looking at that radio some time ago because I've generally had good luck with Pioneer. I couldn't find a lot of reviews about using it with Android, but what I found made it look like it's not very Android friendly. I've also read that it has a delay in the user interface. Can you give me some feedback about that stuff?
I'm mostly just interested in syncing my phone for navigation, phone calls, and Pandora. How does it work for that stuff with Android? Have you used Inrix Traffic with it?
I like the Sony XAV601BT because it's a solid head unit with MirrorLink capabilities. The AppRadio seems to try to be a phone interface first and head unit second.
Well, some things about the AppRadio 2.
It's definitely a phone interface first, car audio system second. Without the phone plugged in and operating it's a basic AM/FM receiver.
Android support isn't as good as iPhone support. There's less apps available and generally speaking it seems like Pioneer added the Android support as an afterthought.
Every time you connect your phone, the phone will prompt you to accept the PIN number that the radio sends it. Every time. It's highly annoying, but someone on avic411 has a tasker script that apparently has the phone auto-accept the prompt. I haven't tried it yet as my phone isn't rooted (I'm swapping it later today for the Pebble Blue that a buddy got and he doesn't want it rooted).
Inrix doesn't work on Android over the AppRadio. They haven't added support yet and Pioneer has a lockout so that you can only use apps that have been approved.
Google Navigation is another app that doesn't work, although Google Maps does. If you want full voice navigation the only app that they have available is Waze at the moment. Waze isn't bad, but I dislike the cartoonish appearance of it.
AppRadio supports Pandora Radio. If you have it, it can natively control it through the deck. Pandora's not available in Canada, so I haven't tried it.
AppRadio also has an ipod interface on the main screen. You can't get rid of it either, which is highly annoying if you're like me and don't have an iphone/ipod.
There is a very small lag in response when you use the touch screen. I believe this is because it uses Bluetooth to communicate with the phone. It's there, but not really that annoying unless you're trying to scroll using CarMediaPlayer. That said, CarMediaPlayer is a half decent app for playing media on the AppRadio. I find it's a lot faster and doesn't lag like the stock Music app on the phone.
Edit: I implied above that you need Pioneer approved apps for it to work. You can use other apps, but they won't have the ability to control them through the deck.
For my use, it sounds like the Sony unit is the better way to go. Hopefully MirrorLink gets some support, either third party or otherwise.
Thanks for the honest feedback about the AppRadio 2.
spumington,
Samsung will release its MirrorLink app in the next weeks.
The solution is software only, but just an APK. You need to modify your system in order to make it work.
And it's not related to MHL, just USB.

Where did you get this information? I also purchased the Galaxy S3 partly because it was the only Android phone announced to support Mirrorlink.
All the threads I've found on this seem a little dated. Anyone try Drivelink with an S4 now that KitKat has been released. Doesn't work at all for me. Was able to trick it into working with my JVC previously. I reinstalled hoping that would fix it. Shame...I was really hoping KitKat would miraculously fix this problem.

Even stranger...Somehow Drivelink is associated with the phone app. Every time I made a call, Drivelink would force close. You hit ok and it re-appeared over and over. Had to finally restart the phone and uninstall it.
Sadly Samsung didn't include the TMServerApp.apk File that is needed for drivelink to run properly in the Kit Kat build for the Galaxy S4.
There is no way to make this work at the moment and currently there is no one working on it.

That's really a shame. The whole reason behind me choosing this head unit was because of their "close relationship" with each other during development. But if I have to replace the HU every time I want to replace my phone, then forget it. Guess I'll be returning my S4. I hate Apple, but it's things like this that force me to stick with them.
Some Sony Xperia Devices also support the Mirrorlink technology.
I am currently staying on Android 4.3, because Mirrorlink works there, but I will probably buy a Xperia Z2 because it should also work with Mirrorlink.

I tried my S4 before the KitKat upgrade with marginal success. It kept wanting to crash. I was able to get some things to work on the screen, but making the maps shortcut work for directions was a fail for me. I know the HU was rated for use with the S3, but I had hopes I could make the 4 work. Wonder if KitKat breaks any of the S3's that were previously working with it? JVC hasn't put out any new firmware in over a year either.
So I looking around and it appears that the S5 is not mirrorlink capable in its current state (stock).
However when lollipop comes out its going to have built in mirrorlink support.
Anyone hear of this or can clarify this for me?

MirrorLink is supported now. You'll find it under "settings - connections - Connect and Share - MirrorLink".
I had my son look at his S5. It shows "screen mirroring". Is this Mirror Link? Or another software solution? You would think it would state "Mirror Link" if it was actually that software.
I was also talking to Samsung yesterday and they are saying the Lollipop push was due out already, but it should be coming any time now.

Mirrorlink is indeed on Galaxy S5 here in the uk but it wont connect with my pioneer headunit as it only supports mirrorlink 1.0 software and the S5 is 1.1 and pioneer cant or wont update the software to work with newer smartphones, it will work with an S3 but the mirroring is pretty basic tbh

It's on the S5 here in the states as well with the Lollipop upgrade. However, it doesn't work here either...at least not on a Pioneer Nex8000. It's time to start investigating other options outside Pioneer.
Mine dosn't work either. I have a VW headunit - Composition Media - and when I start MirrorLink only a black screen with a car connecting to a phone icon flashes and disappears. I'd like to debug the problem but can't connect my phone to the car and to my laptop simultaneously so I can read the logcat. How do I save the log to a file so I can read it later?
I got the operation of MirrorLink in Galaxy S5 , excuse the language , do not speak English , read-only.

Wondering if there is any way to get AA working wirelessly as it does with a pixel.
Now that we have root etc. I wasn't ensure if that's something that could be modded.

The bigger issue isn't getting the phone to support it, it's getting the head unit in your vehicle to support... And almost none do. Last I looked into this, not a single auto manufacturer puts a compatible unit in their vehicles. Only option was aftermarket 3rd part head units.

All I noticed from the article was a direct link to the play store. I already have the android auto app installed on my device (OnePlus 6t) I'll have to do go to the link in my 6t

I have the exact same stereo and cannot get it too work. I'm rooted and not sure if that's the issue??
The only thing I'm thinking is it's something in the coding of the app itself. I have a OP6T and it doesn't work either. It really makes no sense that it doesn't work
I've been told that once your phone has been upgraded to Pie it should work. Is that the case or is it restricted to just the pixel line?
Anyone mange to get AA wireless to work with DMX905s. Getting mixed results it seems?

Unfortunately not true. I'm running stock on my OP6T and nothing is working except Android auto via the cable. This is Googles way of controlling us and it's BS
As I could get a new car in the coming weeks/months I am starting to check every details.
The 6t doesn't have mirrorlink out of the box but can we have it thanks to root? A rom with this function?
Meanwhile I downloaded and installed from apkmirror the htc mirrorlink apk successfully, though no idea if it will work in real
Btw mirrorlink needs a specific hardware or it's just software?
I use android auto, but my car also supports mirrorlink. I haven't found anyway to get it working on this OP6T.
Looking for same solution here.

It looks like Omnirom has it, please try this rom and tell us if it works
Yesterday I tried android auto on my future car, I also added aa phenotype and aa mirror to mimick mirrorlink and it worked!!
Just like miracast works with TVs, everything on my 6t screen is mirrored on the c3 aircross screen and they can be touch controlled from there
I don't know if the 6t screen has to be On all the time or not though
You have links and steps to reproduce your success? Actually, I was able to install AA Mirror and AA Phenom and got AA Mirror to show up in the Android main menu and it works.
But, there are still audio/notification issues while connected via USB. Hoping to resolve this by bypassing this crappy Android Auto. Bought a car and looked specifically for this feature, only to have Google who apparently can't make notifcations work while connected via USB cable the past 5 months. Unreal.
Hence, why I'm trying to find a Mirror Link that runs on Android on the OnePlus 6T, custom Rom whatever...to try and get it working. Thx

Tried it too in the last weekend, no mirrorlink.
I am gonna switch to an S10 soon, at least it will have both AA and mirrorlink.
Dunno why we can't do voice calls with whatsapp or listen to a voice message under AA
I don't know how true, however T-Mobile support states that "Mirror screen on car display" works:
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-38933
I think the T-Mobile site is misleading in that the phone won't mirror anything that isn't in android auto and the bit about Chromecast is about displays not car head units.
That being said aa mirror and aa phenotype changer works with android auto 4.7 and lower as well as android Q. AA browser didn't work in 10/4.7 but web view auto did. Car stream 2.04 works in 10 and 4.7 as well. These look better if you can get the new ui. Working.

How did you make it work? What is aa phenotype and aa mirror? Android auto does work on the C3, why bother using MirrorLink? I try to get it to work on a Peugeot 208 because it has no Android Auto for a weird reason...
