Is there an easy method to SIM unlock this phone without dongrading to froyo or rooting? This phone is kicking my ass. And without paying for an unlock code. TMobile wants me to insert a SIM card for seven days before they Will give me a code.

Ok so here's a question.
I have a Rooted with Indigo Bean Legend on the Bell Network.
If I want to use that phone on the FIDO network, I put in my sim card and it asks for a password.
.I thought if it was rooted, then it was automatically "unlocked " to different carriers. I can buy a password and am willing to unlock it myself, but is that what I need to do, and will that mess up any of the rooting that's done?
Rooting doesn't unlock the phone. So yeah you'll have to use an unlock code.

Using an unlock code will permanently unlock the phone to be used on any carrier. Rooting does not unlock the phone.

I doubt it will mess with your rooting, I used cellunlock.net along with coupon code crackb50 to get my unlock code, cost me $10 (down from $20) but unfortunately, they increased it to $30, so now after 50% off, it's $15.
Is there anyway to Unlock the HTC Surround
without having to Pay for an Unlock Code?

Will this work on boost mobile once unlocked I have it unlocked sim activated but getting no signal only have Att tmobile choice
After buying the MicroSIM card and activation kit, I am a little stumped as to how I should activate it. Specifically, with the 100min/5GB $30 plan, which is "web only," only complicating the process further.
I have the activation code, and the SIM card serial #. Only problem is, I don't have an IMEI which is apparently required, but if I plan on using a GSM unlocked device (specifically the N4), what do I provide?
Also, would it be possible for me to call in and activate this plan, despite its web only status?
Since I bought the microSIM card + activation kit and not miniSIM (the standard size), does this mean I have to take extra steps? Or do I act as if the microSIM is just like a miniSIM?
I also need to port my number, do I do this during activation, and if so, is there an option during online activation? Or can I do it later (I prefer not to, I'm going all out for TMO and don't need to test out service)?
Sorry for all the questions, just want everything to do smoothly

If it is micro just treat it the same. The IMEI is just to verify i think.

Alright, sounds good.
Any thoughts on number porting though? And if I don't have an IMEI what should I tell them?
Thanks

Wait until you get your phone then get the plan? You could probably give them any IMEI. If your D2 has GSM you could give them that IMEI probably.
I'll be getting a Note 3 shortly through my wife's upgrade but she is on a different network to me so I'll need to unlock the sim.
Anyone managed to unlock the UK /European version yet?

All the threads have been going on about the region lock, not SIM lock. And most people that have the device right now, have bought it out right and it comes SIM free, so the phones aren't locked in the first place. Can't you just get the unlock code from the carrier?

I'm aware the threads have been about region lock. Which is why I opened this thread... Cause it's related to carrier unlock..
The networks here are not too keen on giving out unlock codes until the contract is expired.. Ie phone paid for. I'm not even sure if they do it at all.

Hi, I plan to switch over from att to tmobile's 30 dollar, unlimited plan (because i have 200 mb of data for 15 dollars a month on att) and my phone is running 4.2.2 UCUAMF3, should i revert back to an older version and unlock it via hidden menu options in phone menu or what?
please help! thank you!
You cannot downgrade, just buy an unlock code.

You can also call up AT&T and see if they'll give you an unlock code. They gave me codes for my phone and my wife's phone before we went out of the country on vacation.
Is there a way to enter the code by entering # commands instead of putting another SIM in the phone?
