Hi,
I guess you mean that you have stock 4.4.2 and want to install a custom rom 4.2.2 , i would try first rom as it is , if you have signal problem i would try a different modem then.
Downgrade from stock 4.4.2 to stock 4.2.2 is not possible at the moment

Hi ,
Yes you can, usually you keep the modem you have already....change only if you want ( or if not working right)

i am a newb so plzz try to be noobfriendly
p.s i couldnt find any other post which could help me so if there is any,can you guys please post the link also
If you are still on 4.2.2, then I would recommend to not upgrade to a 4.3 stock rom. Doing so will flash the new bootloader which will setup Knox on your phone. When you have the new bootloader and you flash a custom rom, Knox wil be set to 0x1. You can read more about Knox in the Knox thread.
If you planning on flashing custom roms in the future, then stay away from official firmwares.

You can flash any custom rom based on 4.3 that you want. Because custom roms don't flash the bootloader. There seem te be some problems with sound and wifi (but i'm not sure) when you flash a custom 4.3 rom on an old bootloader. But you can always revert to a custom 4.2.2 rom. So you can just try it
Just don't flash originial firmwares. Custom roms are safe.

Keep Getting IMEI Unknown, Baseband Unknown After Flashing 4.3 Custom ROMS

I flashed a 4.3 custom ROM and I get baseband unknown, IMEI unknown, and no reception. I used to flash 4.3 ROMs without trouble but after I installed one specific ROM, my phone can't accept another 4.3 ROM.
I tried flashing back stock 4.2.2 ROM and it fixes everything. But when I'm installing 4.3 ROM, I get the same problem.
Please help me. Thanks.

Which was that one specific ROM? Didn't you took the Nandroid before flashing that one specific ROM?
I doubt that one specific ROM might be PA RC2,right??

It's not PA, it was Cataclysm. I haven't tried bootloader, will do and report back. Thanks for the suggestion! I did a Nandroid though but I want to try another ROM.

You can flash any custom rom you want ie: Kitkat/Jelly bean/AOSP . but you cannot downgrade your phone using odin mate , You need to download a custom rom and then flash Philz recovery or TWRP , Do a nandroid backup and do a fullwipe and flash the rom.

If you want to remove root:
- Use Triangle Away to reset the binaries and system status to official
- Unroot from within the superSU app
- Flash the rom with Odin
- Data factory reset
If you want to keep root:
Use Mobile Odin Pro to flash the new rom and keep root. Check inject superSU, Everroot and the other option. After it reboots do a data factory reset (root will stick btw).

No it's not safe nor recommended. If you had done a search you'd find dozens of threads asking and answering this question in existing threads. Accepting an OTA update is likely to break root and sundry custom ROM features.
You should refer to the custom ROM support thread where the developer will either tailor updates for your ROM. Or at least power users will discuss their effect on the ROM and how to best apply an update to your particular ROM.
