Hi,
I have the samsung s4 (GT-i9505) and from what I can tell (from SuperSU) I have it rooted. However I cannot flash
clockwork recovery for some reason.
ROM manager states that the current recovery is ClockworkMod 6.0.4.7, yet when I try to reboot into recovery, I get the standard recovery screen and not the clockwork mod recovery.
I used heimdall flash --RECOVERY recovery.img --CACHE cache.img.ext4 to root the phone and unfortunately (as I am on OSX) I can't use odin. Any thoughts on how I can get clockwork recovery mod working?
Thanks in advance!

I tried to get it working with virtualbox, but no matter what I tried (installing drivers, messing about with USB passthrough) I could never get odin to recognise my phone

But when you normal start your phone and connect it to your Mac, than virtualbox shows the Galaxy S4 and recognize it in kies?
Use Odin from another computer, like friend's computer.
Okay, so I installed windows on another laptop and got odin working. After odin completes "successfully" I still can't access clockwork mod recovery.
The phone has been rooted but I still get the stock recovery screen when I enter recovery mode.
Any thoughts?

The flashing of the rom went smooth and everything works exept wifi.. so i want to revert to my stock rom i backed up to get wifi back but i cannot boot in to recovery twrp or cwrm. when i press boot into recovery via goomanger or rom manager it reboots says it is entering recovery but then reboots before it goes into recovery mode and boots into the os. i have tried uninstalling/ reinstalling twrp and cwrm but still nothing. i am desperite to get my wifi back any insight would be great! thanks
Are you familiar with adb commands? In your OS with USB debugging enabled you can issue the command "adb reboot recovery" from the command line and it'll get you there.
That is, if you're familiar with adb commands. Otherwise there is a key combination that will get you there. I'm too new to samsung to remember it but it involves the home button, power and volume key up or down. Search the forum I'm sure it'll be here somewhere

Use the key combo:
Cycle the battery
Hold Vol-Up and Home, then Power
Release Power when it vibrates continuing to hold Vol-Up and Home
If the recovery is truly gone, use Goo Manager to restore TWRP

Thanks for the help but i not to sure about the adb commands and no matter what way i try to reboot into recovery it just restarts into the os after it goes to the samsung screen and says recovery booting in the top left
i have tried that and it says booting reocvery... then restarts it self and reboots into the os i have both twrp and cwm installed. who ever knew trying to restore to stock firmware could be so complicated lol not sure what is going on with my phone. everything works with the rom i installed exept wifi.

I believe your recovery is missing... Try the steps I outlined to load TWRP with Goo Manager... If you just want to go back to stock let me know.

Uninstall Kies if it's installed
Install these Samsung USB drivers
Get the stock Rogers ROM from here
Download Odin 3.07
Extract the stock ROM if it's in 7z or zip format
Put your phone in Download Mode
Open Odin 3.07
Hook up the phone
Put the stock ROM in the PDA slot
Only "Auto Reboot" and "Reset Time" should be checked
Click Start

Re-download the zip file and check the md5. It could have been a bad download. It happens more than you would think. Then try Odin again.
I wanted to completely reformat my phone as my phone was buggy with Cyanogen Mod 12, so I formated everything.
The problem is that my PC was not detecting the drivers when in recovery mode, so I couldn't side-load with ADB, and I have no way of getting a .zip on to it.
I tried re-installing the clockwork mod using ODIN but it would just crash the application. I then tried heimdall and that said it installed it (I was hoping that it would fix adb)
Now I can't boot in to the clockwork mode recovery as it just instantly turns the phone off, however I can just boot normally in to the Galaxy S4 logo screen.
When I'm in the logo screen I do have access to ADB, however my phone is unathorised and I have no way to authorise it.
How can I A) fix clockwork recovery so it works again and B) put a zip on the phone or fix ADB detecting my device in recovery?
If you can get into download mode, flash a full stock ROM via Odin and start again

Hello. Today I tried to install TWRP recovery on my s3 neo following this guide (using method 2). My pc recognizes the phone and odin does it too, I installed the recovery with odin and odin says "passed" but when I try to reboot in recovery mode the stock recovery is intalled. Any suggestions?
Uncheck auto reboot in odin and after pass disconnect the phone and pull out the battery and then try to boot into twrp.

Hi, just bought an S5 G900F (international version)... and i wanted to install a custom recovery than root.. than flash rom. Im experienced in this matter... but ... im having all sorts of odd problems. I tried several reocvery (openrecovery, twrp, philztouch)... non stick when i reboot?
I tried several times... odin says everything installed fine.
I wanted to install cf-root... i did it win odin and when phone restarted it says: "recovery booting.... recovery is not seandoird enforcing ... set warranty bit : recovery
Who can help me??
PS Im on lollipop 5.0 if it makes any difference. All attempts were realized with different versions of odin
People have success with TWRP 2.8.7.0 and ODIN 3.10.6
Then SuperSU from TWRP if it sticks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2727406
Tried no luck. I simply get the stock recovery all the time after restart

Try unchecking "Auto reboot" in ODIN, and once the flash has finished, pull the battery, replace and boot into recovery
just tried it... still no go (... do you think i would have more success trying from adb?
Lol this phone has smth against me.
Tried adb: as long as i have it in "desktop" mode adb devices finds it; as soon as i adb reboot bootloader, using the fastbootdevices... adb doesnt see it anymore... so i cant proceed to the flashig
I know you know what you're doing when it comes to this stuff, as you said
But just to make sure, can you post the exact step by steps you're using to try and flash CF Auto-Root and TWRP etc with ODIN?
Yes of course. As i doesn't work for me... i (even) hope im doing something wrong, so we can get to the bottom of this.
So, installed S5 drivers, Enabled usb debuggin in phone (dev menu). Put phone in dl mode (vl dwn+power+home), open odin, select at AP the recovery (tried about 3 recoveries, older versions and newer ones, twrp, phil, open). I have both (by default) checked auto reboot and f-reset time... connect phone with usb cables (tried 2) (connected directly to mb, no extension)... hit start... get the pass message.. phone resets... goes into android. I power off, go to recovery mode (vl up+power+home) and... i get the stock recovery every single time.
Tried something wierd... flashed through Odin CF-root first (with intention to flash after twrp ... as it says phone needs to be rooted first)... it flashes ok (odin says pass, successful 1), reboot (or go to recovery mode)... i get that seandroid error.
Tried to to with with apps from android as well... it doesnt let me.. obviously as most ask phone to be rooted.
What am I missing?
Those are the correct steps, it definitely should have flashed
Doing this from a native PC yes? Ive seen people trying it from Macs and it fails every time
Only thing I can think of right now is try using a different PC
You don't need USB debugging enabled for flashing with ODIN, download mode has no idea what settings you have enabled in Android
Like your method, I just do this:
Samsung Drivers (KIES3 installs them for you anyway)
Vol Down & Home & Power for Download Mode
Connect phone to PC USB
Leave ODIN defaults set (3.09 or 3.10.6)
Select CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.tar.md5 in AP/PDA section of ODIN
Wait for it to become ready
Hit start
Phone reboots, and I have root
You could try factory resetting the phone, and trying again, see if that does anything, or at least clear the caches from stock recovery first
I have the SM-T337T with root and bootloader unlocked. It has TWRP 2.8 and stock ROM. I wanted to flash a custom ROM and was updating to the latest TWRP per the instructions. In TWRP the practice flash worked, so I flashed TWRP 3.6 from Android File Host and now tablet wont boot up. When try to boot into recovery it doesn't fully boot and get Set Warranty Bit: Recovery ( there was a third line before when booting correctly ) I can boot into download mode but Odin doesn't see the device in download mode but computer will see device in the sort of recovery mode. Not sure what to do next. Thank you in advance for helping.

Interesting problem and we're here to help. Make sure you've installed the latest Samsung USB drivers from Samsung, v1.7.50. I'm also using Odin v3.14.1. TWRP for your device would be millet. Try different USB ports and cables.
