Hey guys,
Yesterday we've bought a Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 (8gb) and today I have a little problem...
When I try to move wma files (which are drm protected) from my pc to the tablet, I'm unable to move them (windows tells me the device doesn't respond or was disconnected). If I just copy them to the sd card using an sd card reader, I'm able to do so, but if I try to play the files on my tablet, they just skip every few seconds and I don't get any sound...
Could it be the that tablet doesn't support drm? The guy from the samsung support chat told me wma is supported and there's a system app called "drm protected content storage", but this app is not present on the tablet and he didn't knew much more about this, so he told me to write an email to the support for more help!
After all, I believe the Tab 4 doesn't support drm anymore (my tab 3 10.1 does!), is that true?
Thanks in advance!
As far as I'm aware, the stock music player and samsung music players don't have a way to access the servers needed to validate the DRM on some files. It can play DRM protected music purchased through Google or Samsung, and probably other tablet specific services like Amazon, but if you bought the song on a PC from some source like Windows Media Player, it may only work on Microsoft devices like a Windows Phone or Zune player. You'll need to remove the DRM protection, or see if Windows can convert the file to MP3/MP4 before transferring it (also, try using Kies to sync rather than just dropping files on the MTP drive)

so i posted this video on youtube.com
notes:
you can use your phone to update your tv or blueray player (samsung tested)
you hook your phone up to its USB port and put the phone in disk drive mode.
on the tv it will then pop up a menu with 2 options Media player (vids music pics etc) or software upgrade.
Media player is just that use your sd card as the source for media player on tv.
software upgrade it looks for the extracted folder you get from the exe file from the samsung website. (looks for that folder in the root directory of the sd card
what i say there
"Upgrade Samsung LCD TV using HTC EVO as USB Mass Storage Drive
I show you how to upgrade your tvs firmware with your android phone im using a htc sprint evo and a samsung ln46b640
and as you see in the video you can use the phone in disk mode and use media play on the tv play your tunes or videos
(kinda a double bonus in one demo)
can the iphone do this LOL"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-E_W5DiWmUM
why is sprint and htc not promoting all the great and cool fetures of there products and thus forcing us to find it all on our own and thus create the underground movment LOL
Anyone else having an issue getting the music player to see .m3u playlist files?
I don't use Kies since I'm on a Mac, so I copy everything over onto the SDcard. The media scan completes but my playlists don't show up in the player.
If I use a music player from the market (such as doubleTwist) then it sees and plays the M3U files fine.
I'm not particularly fussy what player I use, but recognising my playlists is a basic prerequisite.
Do you found a solution
I have the same problem....
Thanx
I have the same frustrating problem. I hope we can get it sorted out.
Same problem here on my t-mobile vibrant any luck with a fix. Im using missing sync for android on my mac and after sync i see all my music but no playlists show up. If you navigate to the music on the sd card you can see all the playlists.
No fix I'm aware of.
I'm using a combination of iSyncr and Lithium Player to sync with iTunes and play/scrobble music.
Only 10 but I copied 25.
I'm using windows playlist. I copy over(example) 25 playlist but only 10 actually show up. They are all the same format as well. It also doesn't seem to actually store them. By that I mean that it's not that it is only shows 10 there are only ten on the card? Even though I copied 25 across. it says copy is successful and everything.
Desire 2.1 Sense. Not rooted.
Another one with the same problem here. Samsung Galaxy S spanish movistar version, no m3u lists showing when copied from my macbook.
Is the problem solved with kies?
It wouldn't be the fastest way, but it will always be better than make de playlists on the pone.
I surrender... I want to use the default music player from my Galaxy S, so I finally choose this way, from lycan_codex, just search: "[Q] What Playlists formats are supported by Samsung Galaxy S music player?". I will write to Samsung an email and wait if they will fix (if it's need fixed, I mean that samsung maybe don't want to able read m3u files for any reason).
I ripped the Digital Copy of A Christmas Carol to my PC hard drive. Then I dumped it onto my phone (created a 'video' folder in the Media folder since it only had 'audio' and 'music' - the file won't play, it says to connect my PC because the license expired or something like that. And it disables my SD card until I reboot the phone.
Any ideas? I have a few blu-rays with Digital Copy and would love to rip a couple of the movies I own onto my SD card so I have something to do while waiting at various places....
Any suggestions would be great.
not sure, but are you freezing/preventing the DRM services from running with a startup manager or something? i know a lot of people do for battery reasons but i think it might have to do with that, might need to kick them on to watch DRM movies
using titanium backup pro i froze all 3 instances of DRM. i still get an error saying the code for the file is expired and I need to hook up to my PC...
Use AnyDVD with a Bluray ripper (I use Pavtube ripper) to watch your purchased BD on your phone. It will cost a small investment but it's worth it. I've never been able to get that Digital copy to work.
Hi boys and girls as you all know our Samsung Galaxy 10.1(v) have media transfer restrictions for mkv files if you have tried copying this file to your tablet windows explorer might have crashed.
So i tried Kies (they should have called it S**t) and found out that my
GT-P7100 is not compatible..yeah what a shocker!!!
Well good news it seems Sony is generous enough to made it possible to transfer media files to your Samsung tab using MediaGo all you need to do is go to this website:
http://mediago.sony.com/enu/download
Thank you Sony for making this possible while Samsung can't.
I remember reading a article that windows phone 8 has a new api out that for example would let u download a mp3 through the browser and add it to your media library on the device without needing to sync w/ a computer to do this.
has anyone tested this out yet? is it possible?
also if this is possible would i be possible for us to have a winrar/winzip app on wp8 now and download those file types and add the contents to our media library all on the device? or even a file explorer of some sorts since we are now able to send/receive music files from what ive been reading
heres a article on apps adding music/media into the music hub
Windows Phone 8 has new API for loading music from Apps into the Music Hub | WMPoweruser
"Winphoneviet, who leaked the most recent Windows Phone 8 SDK, reports that the SDK has new APIs, including one called SaveSongOperation which allows one to load music into the Xbox Music Library, just like developers can now save pictures to the Picture Hub.
The freedom would for example allow developers to download music from the internet and add it to the music bug, or transfer music via Bluetooth and do the same."
I tried to download an MP3 from sound cloud trought Internet explorer on my lumia and it only streamed the file,it wouldn't let me download it in order to save it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Indeed...
I just did a standard "press and hold" and there was no download option (open in a new tab, copy link, and share link).
That is very disappointing.
