Yes you can! It is true that you will lose youe IMEI if you flash an older firmware but you will restore it if you reflash the previous modem (NG1 in this case). I did it many times myself to revive and reroot the phone.

No, I haven't. I have tried to flash the Super fast & famous and the Sweet Rom but in both cases unsuccessfully. In the first case aroma installer simply didn't start and in the second I had to revive the phone by downgrading since I don't have a Nandroid backup...
if flash older FW my imei will be corrupted ? my phone is not rooting all is stock
Tnx a lot

So my friend asked me revert his S4 GT-I9505 to stock 4.4.2 because he cant upgrade because of root.
He didnt tell me from where he got phone.
I found this
AP:I9505XXUEMJ7
CP: I9505XXUEMJ7
CSC:I9505MOTEMJ8
I cant find any firmware on SamMobile for that
If i cant find correct firmware to revert via Odin can i use some carrier version?
Thanks
- All firmwares are HERE.
- Direct url for android 4.4.2: HERE
*EDIT: Dont try to flash again android 4.2.2 coz ur friend had MJ7 (android 4.3). You can't downgrade. Flash android 4.3 again or android 4.4.2 simply. Good luck.
Thanks man!

Hi Guys,
My Phone Samsung Galaxy S4 Black edition(India INS) got automatically upgraded to 5.0.1 Lollipop from Kitkat 4.4.2.
Since the upgrade i feel there a performance issues in my phone.
Now,I have decided to Downgrade it to Kitkat.I have identified the correct firmware from SAM Mobile below,
Model GT-I9500
Model name GALAXY S4
Country India (Black Edition)
Version Android 4.4.2
Changelist 923538
Build date Wed, 05 Mar 2014 07:25:51 +0000
Product code INS
PDA I9500XXUFNC1
CSC I9500YDDFNC2
I know all the procedures to Flash the firmware using Odin.
I have few questions below,
1)If i downgrade to the above kitkat version,Will i face Null IMEI problem and why?
2)I have also heard, the workaround for the null imei issue is to flash the modem.bin from lollipop firmware, then Baseband version will be still from Lollipop. Will this create signal problems in future?
Please share yours views and suggestions on this.
Thanks

There is a tool created by AntaresOne to backup IMEI. Do a backup then flash the kk.
Performance issue is usually because you didn.t factory reset phone after a major update.

Thanks.I'm not interested in rooting my device.
After downgrading to kitkat, if i get Null Imei issue,i can still resolve the issue to upgrading to the latest lollipop firmware right?

Theoretically, yes. But you know that sometimes bad things can happen.

You will get imei null for sure. That's normal. You have to reflash a lollipop modem afterwards.
I downgraded my s4 from lollipop to kitkat with odin and firmware from sammobile and i didn't had problem with imei.

Can you share the firmware details which you downloaded and flashed from SAM Mobile?
Is the version of S4 which you are using is a Black edition?

if the flashing of the firmware from sammobile doesn't fix your problem.. it's probabily an hardware problem.
