[Q] Turn off notifications when recording a video - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ever get annoyed when recording a video and a message or email disrupts it with your notification tone? Well I do and would love to know how to have it disabled automatically without having to use hardware buttons every time.

My alarm doesn't go off??

I've had my G2 for a couple of weeks now and the alarm maybe went off 2 times, some say that just like the camera video issue is because of the latest upgrade with Google Now being turned on is the issue and I also have that issue with the video function with it saying 'can't take video while in call' and I'm not in call??
Anyone??

How to mute everything except alarms?

So I have a Galaxy S5 with Android 5.0 Lollipop (OTA update came a week ago).
I need to keep the phone completely silenced during the night except for the alarm which has to wake me up in the morning. While the phone was running Android 4.4 I used the Blocking mode which I could set to affect incoming calls and notifications but not the alarms.
Now that Android 5 is there and TouchWiz has been updated, there is no Blocking mode anymore. I can choose to allow priority interruptions only or no interruptions at all. If I select no interruptions, the alarm doesn't sound at all.
If I select priority interruptions and check only 'Events and reminders' I kinda get what I need, but not quite. Incoming calls, SMS, WhatsApp and Facebook are muted and the alarms sound just like they should. However, Viber and Skype do not get muted. This means that I should manually sign out of skype and/or kill it in order to have peace from the app.
So what should I do? I want to easily silence the phone and keep everything muted except for the alarms. I want to do this quickly - with one touch. Going into priority notifications mode and then manually signing out of apps is no way to go.
Any help would be appreciated
Bump for this, searching for solution....
Sent from my SM-G900F
double bump...
triple bump...
My fiance's GS5 upgraded last night and her alarm never went off this morning... I woke her up and told her - she saw her phone's alarm going off on the screen with no sound. She didn't change any of her alarm settings before/after upgrading so this is a FAIL on Samsung's end in my opinion.
I realise that this is a lollipop feature, but I believe that Nexus ROMs let you pick which applications are priority (to disable Skype notifications, for example), which doesn't seem possible on the S5.
HTC seem to have kept their silent profile for the M8 lollipop update - lucky them!

Select priority interruptions and turn off data/internet. There's a toggle for that in the notification panel.
Or better yet, put phone in airplane mode with blocking mode off. That's what I do.
Airplane mode seems like the easiest solution for your problem.
Use the Do Not Disturb app. Perfect replacement for Blocking Mode.
If you disable "Events and reminders", does it do what you want? You still get alarms with that unticked.

No, with that unticked I do not get any alarms.
Airplane mode is a possible workaround, but not perfect, because the risk of forgetting to switch back to normal mode is high. Furthermore, I enjoy reading my missed notification first thing in the morning... Going to give that do not disturb app a go
Long story short, this is a major fail for the new firmware. I don't know if it is a Lollipop issue or a less than perfect Touch Wiz implementation of the new Lillipop notifications concept...

That's strange, I still get alarms. There's even a message at the bottom of the interruptions page that says alarms are always considered priority.
I also still get all the notifications, just no sounds for them (I run in priority mode most of the day), so I can still catch up on notifications.
I'm running version BNL9 but not sure if that makes a difference.

Huh, I guess you could forget however I don't see how since there's an airplane icon instead of the signal bars.
Has the problem been fixed on Android M?

No notification LED while on mute after 5.0

So since the 5.0 update whenever I have my phone on silent the blinking blue led no longer activates to indicate I have a message, email, missed call etc. I've tested this and it still works correctly while on vibrate or sound.
Does anyone else have this problem or know how to make it work again?
I'm running stock, unrooted OTA from verizon

I have no idea what Google could have been thinking to want to completely change how notifications and silent vib ring are supposed to interact. Light Flow kind of patches things together, kind of. Timerific is screwed up, any sound, ringer, vib widgets no longer work. The "priority interruption" nonsense is so limited in it's function that you can't use it and it seems that's what all of the changes were supposed to be for. Every time i go into a meeting i wonder what kind of unexpected noises are going to come out of my phone!
So, try Light Flow, LED works when phone is silent.

All Sound Playing Through Earpiece (Android 6.0.1)

Whenever I use video calls through the facebook messenger app/widget I notice all sound comes through the earpiece, I have seen similar posts but none occurring due to messenger.
My s7 edge was problem free until the last forced update which was about two weeks ago (it did it while I was sleeping and connected to wifi).
Now I have to reboot my phone every time I get off a video call or all sound comes through my earpiece. It is extremely frustrating as I rely on my alarm to wake up, which is quiet as a mouse through the earpiece.. oh and I love having to disable messenger's annoying screen overlay every time I get a new app too
Any idea how to fix it? (The speaker issue)
Thanks!

Sound notifications for certain apps like Whatsapp only working half the time

So my Whatsapp is setup to vibrate and make a sound for notifications but the sound only works about half the time while the vibrate does work every time. I've also had a few times where the sound itself doesn't fully play or sort of stutters.
Fully stock 6t on T-mobile.
Edit: I should add that I think this is a Oneplus problem in general. My OP2 had similar problems with stuttering notification sounds. Never experienced this on any other brand of phone. Didn't matter what OS I was using either.
