[Q] Loud Speaker Replacement part? D800 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I've had a broken speaker for a while now and recently went to see if they could replace it. Turns out they wanted $150 not even to fix the phone, just to ship it back and get a new one... I figured it wouldn't be too hard to replace as I already know how to remove it, but I can't actually find the part online... I'm not certain what it would look like, to be honest. Could someone please link a loudspeaker replacement part for sale?:fingers-crossed:

I've seen a lot of these (http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-AT-T-LG...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item1e8f58f506), but I'm not sure if that's just the frame or has the loudspeaker in it.

yes that is the part with the speaker(speaker is built into the right/left side of it depends on how you look at it) if you look at second image of listing the area where it says a bunch of letters and numbers(EMH383 EA862912001) is the speaker area

Hermes over!? (Dead loudspeaker)

This may not be the correct place to ask this, but does anyone know which kind of TekScrewdriver I'd need to get into my Hermes?
I dropped the thing on tiles, and now the loud speaker doesn't work. It appears to just be a dodgy connection, because when I press the housing around the speaker, it will work momentarily..
Anyone ripped one of these apart before? If so, got any tips?

This has come up before, but rather than deliver a good sound thrashing, (I am still smiling after receiving a compliment elsewhere on the forum) here are a couple of links:

In need of advice: which 8525 should i purchase

Ok guys due to my lack of knowledge on which repair is a sure thing, i dont know which 8525 to purchase.
Option 1 is
8525, working battery, and battery cover only for $199
Problem is touch screen does not work.
Touch screens on this ebay link average around $30
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=8525+touch&category0=
Option 2 is
8525 with all of the components for $224
Problem is speaker does not work.
Speaker price is $10 here
http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1
My question to you guys is which repair is more of a sure thing?
Are those touch screens i found on ebay compatible? I saw images of the phone and the lcd is in tact, it just has no response from tapping the screen, does that mean the touch screen does not work and i just need to select the right touch screen/digitizer?
In regards to the speaker option, would the repair be a sure thing if i just opt to buy the replacement speaker?
Thanks in advance guys

any one por favor =D, time is not on my side
For me, both seem a little high for broken hardware, but then that isn't your quesiton.
Were it me, I would go with the deficiency that I could live with the easiest, just in case repairs were unsuccessful. As my phone is usually hooked up to A2DP or on vibrate mode, the loss of the speaker would be the easiest to live with for me.
The owner of option 2 sent me a msg stating
"no problem, the speaker just doesnt play out loud, so theres no ringer, speakerphone, or music out loud. but when your on the regular speaker during a phone call or if you have the headphones plugged in its fine. it just stopped workin last wednesday and i dont know why, and like i said i have it with t-mobile service and cant get it service"
So it seems the connection might just be loose or if it fails just a replacement of the speaker. Correct?
Seems like the correct assumption to me and my choice. I'd go with the easier/cheaper to fix option. Given the touchscreen is not working on the other one, it could be anything from a particle stuck in the border of the screen to a broken cable to something worse, and who knows what has been done to the phone to cause the issue.
I'd say, Go for the one with the bad speaker.
The unresponsive touch screen has been seen in several devices, changing screen didn't fix the problem in most cases.
Good luck!
I would wait and get one that works.
With the 8925 coming out on Monday, you'll see a lot more of these being sold in the near future.
wait for 8925 AKA tytn 2

Rattle from phone (not volume key)

I know there is another short post about this, but wanted to get a quick poll from people about whether this is even a fault. The phone does not appear to be malfunctioning.
I have noticed a rattle in the head of the device (this is not related to the volume button, mine is a bit loose, but it doesn't really bother me). If I shake it perpendicular to the screen, it makes a small rattling sound. If however, I tap it lightly near the back speaker, it makes a large and rather unnerving rattling sound (if you're going to test for this, please hold onto the volume button to rule this out). The issue with this is that when I take a call and the volume is quite high, whatever is loose appears to rattle sometimes, making the unrelated but highly annoying audio distortion problem even worse!
I have managed to get opinions from 2 other users already. One has it, the other doesn't. That makes 2 that have it and 1 that doesn't so far.
Any ideas on what it might be, also appreciated!
Mine does it, i suppose it could be the camera lense =/
I notice the rattle, and have noticed previously a nasty distortion type rattling sound when on a call.....
Mine phone started doing that after using the camera edge to open beer bottles. But only after the 12th bottle....
mine too...
My phone does it too, when i shake the phone it doesnt sound but when i tap the speaker it makes the loose kinda screw soundm it almost sounds like when the lens is focusing it makes a sort of click its almost the same so i would assume it is the lens, after all my phone is working great, only the screen fails to respond sometimes when typing an sms or using the sense keyboard...
i think it is the lens
it is the lens, is has a small magnetic mechanism, similar to a solenoid to move the lens in and out for focusing. If it didnt have a little rattle, your autofocuser is stuck
OK thanks for the replies, looks like pretty much everyone has got it, but curiously, I got a reply from HTC on the matter, concluding that there might be an issue with the handset. Admittedly I asked about the sound distortion too, but they recommended a replacement?!? Sounds like they don't know about this or just blanket recommend a replacement if they're not sure.
I'll probably stick with the unit though, other than those 2 issues, my handset is perfect.
Thanks again for all the responses!
Hmmm I just rang htc about this has mine as developed the fault.. Also reported that my bottom buttons are starting to peel. Not to sure if i should send it off now or not.. Problem is.. It didn't do it before so why is it now? The guy on the phone was hinting towards me maybe dropping the phone I think and said I may incur a charge if they don't believe it is a problem with the phone.. Which I no I shouldn't but find really offending because I treat my phones like a baby and has never been placed on a surface hard in its life (and always placed on top of the htc case) let alone dropped.. But I know there are a lot of people who don't mind spending £500 on a phone and not treating it to well so I guess they have to presume this..
Anyway..
I also think it is coming from the camera area.. I never use the vibrate function so turned that on for a bit to see if that would make any difference and also used the camera for a while to see if it was the auto focus but still the same. If the noise wasn't so obvious I wouldn't send it in for repair but I think this noise is going to do my head in.. (also want the buttons replaces as they are starting to peel)
If they try to put the noise down to misuse I think I will be selling up and moving back to apple.. Shame because I love the HD2.
Just out of interest my phone came from one of the 1st batches from Clove in November.

[Q] G2 Calling Issue

I just bought a g2 and I can send and receive texts and i can make calls and receive them just fine... the problem is that I can hear the other person on the phone just fine... there's no problem with the audio, but the other person cannot hear me. I tried a lot of things, from changing the 3g network usage to 2g usage and removing the battery and placing it back. I also called a few other numbers just to make sure that it's not just someone's number who's causing this for me, and there's no water damage done to the phone, everything else is fully functional. I really want a fix to this please, I just got this phone, and I would really appreciate some help.
Thanks.
Hear the other person your voice silently only or nothing at all? I had the problem my voice was to silent for the other person to hear me. It was just the small sticker around the mic hole inside the bottom of the rear case got out of place a little bit. I remove it and anything was fine. Hope that helps.
Re: G2 Calling Issue
Hey could you please be a little bit more specific in terms of what and where the problem was in the phone, and what exactly you did to remedy it? I'd like to try it, thank you

In my case: There is a little sticker (a placeholder or someting like this) inside the rear case. Show at the bottom of your phone right beside the mini USB connector. There is a little hole in the case. Take the rear case of, like you want to remove the battery. Turn the rear case an you should find this little sticker at the hole. In my case the sticker moved a little bit, less than 1mm, so it muted my voice. I remove this sticker and everyone can hear me again.

Rattling / vibrating earpiece

Has anyone else noticed the earpiece speaker rattles/vibrates during calls on their Note 4? Its not terrible, but its defo noticable and really annoying. I expected a perfect new phone. Was wondering if this is a general issue before I swap handset?
I havent noticed but could it be the camera module, hold phone close to ear and shake gently, same noise?
I'd say go for a replacement, mine does not make any obscure noise, my 1st note 3 however had an obnoxious vibration from the speaker.
Looks like I will have to go for a replacement I think. Theres no sound coming from camera. Thanks for the suggestion though. I even tried taking the back off the phone to see if it was that vibrating slightly, but no different. Tried pressing against top part of pbone too as thought this may firm up any loose parts, but had no joy. Its a pain as just set all settings as I wanted and really wanted to avoid replacement. Oh well lol. Thank you for your reply, appreciated!
Finally managed to change phone after store got new stock in. Turns out I had a faulty handset. New one is perfect, no unwanted sound from earpiece at all!
