Hold the phone closer to your mouth when speaking? Especially if this happens when you use the phone in noisy environments. You can also go to the settings menu and try disabling the (call settings) noise suppression option.
The built in microphone has an automatic level control, so an external mic will do a lot better in unusual situations like this. You can set the mic gain in the service mode menu but it may have undesirable consequences, so you should leave that as a last resort. Moreover you still have to contend with the auto level if you are using the internal mic, so raising the mic gain would not be expected to help if there is high background noise levels.
.

Thanks for your answer.
Can you tell me how can i adjust it in the service menu ???

Change the setting in the "audio" submenu of the service mode page.

A way to disable clicking/beeping noise?

I dont know about most ppl here, but I really hate that "beeping" noise whenever the unit receive a on screen click, especially that loud beep for the start button. Its really loud in the middle of the night
Is there a way to disable it, or change it to a much soothing sound
I install Wisbar Advance 2 before, and the pre-pack skin also change the beeping to a much better sound, but as I mention before here in this forum, I uninstalled it because it slow down my unit greatly.
start button > settings > sounds & notifications / screen taps etc.

But I m talking about the loud beep for the start menu or the new tab, or when you open program from the start menu...
there is no option to unable them... is there a way?
so anyone know how?

XDA Mini S does NOT ring anymore!

Hey everyone,
My XDA doesn't ring anymore when someone rings me.
If I go into phone options, I can change the ring tone, and they work in there using the play button. They are very low though, even when I put the phone's volume on max.
Then I go back to the home screen, try to ring my phone and it doesn't ring. The vibrate function still works and it still makes a noise when I get a text. Just nothing when it rings.
Any ideas? Cheers.
May be You already did it, but if your phone switched to "vibrate only"
mode?

Nope, but thanks anyway mate.
Anyone? It's doing my nut in now!
OK, obvious things to try / questions etc:
Have you tried to soft reset?
Do you have a "profile changer" installed (pocket zen phone for example)
Is the ringtone selected on (tick in the box) (dumb question i know, but...)
Are you using a default tone? or one you have added youself?
If its a custom one, edit on PC and increase the amplitude (make it louder) - try again - any better?
Have you one anything / installed anything etc which caused this problem? if so what
Is the phone & master volume at max? if not try with them both up all the way

Really good trouleshooting procedure!

Thanks a lot for this mate.
1. - Yes
2. - No
3. - Yes
4. - Tried both and tried making my custom one louder
5. - No
6. - Right, this is where we made some progress. I usually have my master volume set on the level above nothing (i.e. very low) and my phone setting on the lowest one. I assumed that this was the in-call volume. But I put it up a notch and the ringing was back. Yeah! So I assume it's the whole phone functions' volume and not just the in-call volume. I can see the logic but I'm not completely sold.
Anyway, you are a legend and I thank you very much.

IIRC to adjust the in-call volume you must be in a call and then use the slider on the side of the wizard. i'm not 100% sure but this is as good as my brain can manage today

hi, bsterngillet,
im also new to this here. just got my o2 min s last week. i just started tweaking it. i experienced the same situation as yours, and seemed to have figured out the problem.
with the original rom, AND without any program installed, the volume sliders behaviors are:
Master volume slider adjust Ringer, Notifications, Tap
Phone volume silder adjust Phone
however, upon installing "certain" programs (in my case, a language translation/inmput software "Monster Chinese 5.1"), the volume sliders behaviors altered as:
Master volume slider adjust Notifications, Tap
Phone volume silder adjust Ringer (but ALSO as a subset of Master Volume --- so it's like a old school mixer, master volume has an effect on the whole scheme of things)
The phone volume can then be altered during a call.
So, my settings now is:
Master volume slider = Halfway
Phone volume slider (i.e. ringer) = First click down from Max
Phone Voice volume= adjust as needed
hope this helps .... and hope this is correct.
I had a problem with this before...
I had been using my headphones prior to this though and when I put them back in and out it worked fine
Thanks to your thread i have been able to sort out exactly the same problem regarding vibrating but no volume. It did my nut in too, funny how there is usually a simple answer just around the corner.
Cheers

Notification Volume

Is there a way to make this louder. I cannot hear it very well at all. I saw in another thread about a code that can be keyed into the dialer that brings up a audio menu but have yet to figure out where to go in this menu to raise it. If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

For 2.2 (FroYo):
Settings > Sound > Volume > Put notification volume all the way up?
For 2.1 (Eclair): (Pretty sure it goes like this, I'm on 2.2 so can't remember clearly)
Settings > Sound & Display > Ringtone volume > Put notification volume all the way up?
i have been having the same problem

Increase Samsung Focus Speaker & Headphone Volume

Hello all
here is some info that I collected from multiple other places to help with the low volume problem in my Samsung Focus:
Increase Speaker Volume
1- Go to the dialer of your phone and access diagnostic mode by dialing ##634# or start the Diagnosis app by clicking it from your app menu.
2- Input *#0002*28345# to get to the Audio menu.
3- See the last option named “Device Gain (max/min)”... Hit the “Get” option next to it.
4- Now from among the 3 fields: in the second one enter 16000 and in the third field enter 0.
6- Hit “Set”.
7- Tap “Start” button at the bottom of the app.
8- Exit Diagnosis by clicking the windows home button then restart your phone.
Increase Headphone Volume
1- First and foremost make sure that your headphones are attached to your phone, as the fix won’t work otherwise.
2- Go to the dialer of your phone and access diagnostic mode by dialing ##634# or start the Diagnosis app by clicking it from your app menu.
3- Input *#0002*28345# in the diagnosis screen.
4- Navigate to “Device Gain (max/min)” and hit the Get button next to it.
5- In the 3 fields, enter these values respectively 5, 1100 and –1100
6- Hit "Set".
7- on the next line below change the AUDIENCE.CFG to "on".
7- Tap on the "Start" button at the bottom of the app.
8- Exit Diagnosis by clicking the windows home button then restart your phone.
NOTE:
Speaker volume may become so loud and it may crackle at really high volumes, so I use the hardware volume buttons to stay slightly below the maximum volume
You can try using the Diagnosis app to restore the default values below, but it may not help & only a hard-reset will apply these default original volumes:
Default Volume Settings (Speaker)
Device Gain (max/min): 7 / 1200 / -500
Default Volume Settings (Headphones)
Device Gain (max/min): 5 / 400 / -1100
If you do not have the Diagnosis app (or can not enter the Diagnosis mode), you can sideload the attached .xap
Hope this helps
There is a very similar thread a while ago, and I think most of this info is already on the Samsung Focus wiki.

like i mentioned: collected from many places..so its complete info
here i added the back speaker tweak too
and added a missing step in headphone tweak that fix the settings not sticking
also alerted users about possibility of "too high" volume & how to fix + attached the diagnosis app
so, someone can put all this on wiki...& delete this thread if you want
its just when i was using the wiki info alone it was not really helping & had to search additional sites

I recently purchased Samsung Omnia I8350. During initialization software got upgraded to 7.5
I wanted to increase the sound volume for headset and speaker using Audio controller utility as mentioned above but the menu doesn't come up. I am able to access Diagnosis application but unable to open Audio control utility using *#0002*28345# or *#0002*28346#. Nothing happens when I type this.
Can you provide me the solution?

Sadly, I believe you have the "latest" Diagnosis delivered through "Samsung Update" (past KK2), which stops interop unlock.
Can you please run Diagnosis, and run *#1234# and check/post your PDA (1st entry)?
The "Samsung update" info is in this post. You will have to restore (in Zune) in order to use the old Diagnosis and update manually.

APK to define Touchpoints with Hardware Buttons

Hey Guys,
i have a general question. Is there a mod or. APK where i can define a point/dot on my Touchscreen and map it to a Hardware Button of the car (e.g. Steering wheel Buttons)?
What i want to Do is, to control the Touchscreen without touching. Seems funny but would be perfect, cause id like the steering wheel buttons.
I am using Android Auto with HeadUnit Reloaded, and switching through music with my Buttons works perfectly. Now it would be awesome to launch Google Assistant through a Button. Inside HUR isnt the Option to map the Assistant. And in my Hal9K mood i tried several Things.
So i thought, i am. 90% Inside Android Auto and the G Assistant Touch Icon is in bottom right corner. So i need a App that points on that Display location and simulate a Touch press, when i press the steering wheel. Is that possible?
Thanks for your time and help
Best wishes

That is a great idea! There is a way to send touches on the screen. You can do it via command line, e.g. :
input tap 560 960
You can also send key events the same way:
input keyevent KEYCODE_WAKEUP
You can browse in internet for the whole list. To determine the coordinates you can enable debug mode, and there is an option that is called INPUT -> pointer location.
This will display the coordinates on the screen whether you put your finger on.
Now, to map hardware buttons I think there are a couple of applications that let you do that. You can also map the hardware button to the key M to start the assistant. If I remember properly that is the hot key from HUR to start the microphone.
Let me know how it goes, I am also interested!
EDIT: Yet another way is to trigger an intent from the HUR app:
am start -a gb.xxy.hr.mic
There are several apps that let you start intents like tasker.
Am application to map the buttons without requiring root is Button Mapper.

The other day while driving I suddenly had a question. Why cannot you use the voice activated trigger! Ok Google, to start the voice commands? That way you don't need to press the voice button.

Toggeling with voice is Okey but often i have to scream or turn volume down. Or say it multiple Times. So a key is much more comfortable to me. My Touchscreen is Not perfectly reachable during driving so steering wheel buttons would be the perfect solution for me ?
Hey Fgarcor,
I had some time so investigate the problem. What i have done so far:
Mapping all my Hardware Keys to specific keycodes:
-Google Assisstant - - > 289
-Start Route - - > 288
-Switch Spotify - - > 291
-See Notifications - - > 292
-Route Option A - - > 283
-Route Option B - - > 284
-Route Option C - - > 285
So thats all "Events" i need for android auto. Then i went into debug Mode an locate the coordinates for each section:
-Google Assisstant - - > 925 x 556 y
-Start Route - - > 224 x 450 y
- Switch Spotify - - > 215 x 550 y
- See Notifications - - > 791 x 562 y
- Route Option A - - > 260 x 175 y
- Route Option B - - > 260 x 275 y
- Route Option C - - > 260 x 375 y
So i have all Information that i needed an just have to merged them but i dont know where can i define specific commands. I tried "Button Remapper Pro" but the APK does Not detect my keycodes.
Where can i Set up some command lines? Do i have to install a specific Module in Magisk Manager? Or is there Kind of a console on my rooted Android Radio?
Sorry, i dont understand it for 100% and need your help, Thanks

Hi Rene,
I don't have the pro version, I just tested on my phone to associate a long press on the volume down button to start the Google assistant and it worked. So I guess for your case you can do the following to associate a key with the Google assistant, I see several options:
- On the main screen select "add buttons". Now that the hardware button is not any of the standard buttons like home, recents, volume, etc that you would find on a phone.
- then press the hardware button you want to add so the application automatically reads the code, on this case one of the keycodes that you sent before.
- associate the action with the button you just pressed, you can associate to:
--- actions: like sending keycodes (only for pro it seems), or intents (actions inside an application that can be started from outside of the application), other typical actions like volume control, home, etc
--- applications: launching one of the installed applications
--- shortcuts: available for some applications to start an action quickly.
- here you can select as action send keyevent and there you can choose to send KEYCODE_M. That is specified by HUR as the key to launch the mic, in your case assistant, that way you are independent of a change in the interface and coordinates.
- you can select also to send a shell command, and there you can write what we discussed before "input tap x y". And replace X and Y with your coordinates.
- you could also select directly the assistant under actions, veggie the last one, but I think that would trigger the assistant on your head unit Android and but in HUR.
I hope it helps, if questions, feel free to ask.

Sorry I missed this part, how did you get your keycodes in the first place?
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
Thanks for your reply Basically i opened Hal9K MOD Settings. There is a Option called "remap Buttons". There i can enable "keycodes" so whenever i press a key, the Code will displayed for a few seconds. I also can Change the Button functions from a define keycode list (i am Not able to enter a specific keycode). So i put all the Buttons i want to use to a defined keycode which has no function on my Radio yet.
I downloaded tasker and tried to Set up shell commands. I Used "Input tap x y" whenever the specific keycode Was Red. But it seems, tasker cant read the keycodes? I tried to put in the if statement:
getKeyCode() == 289
Keyevent.getKeyCode() ==289
Input keyevent == 289
And some combimations of that but Google assisstant wont start.
Maybe i have to implement a whole Script for that? Never die amything like that, could be funny ?
Thanks for your help so far

Can you try with the following app? This is the one I use to know what are the values of the key pressed.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=aws.apps.keyeventdisplay
You can check whether the keys are pressed, if they are detected by Android and in that case which value are they bound with.
I am not sure whether the mapping you made was to give a keycode to a hardware button or to remap existing keycodes. In the second case I would skip the remapping and just use the original values.
You can check with this app before and after assigning the keycodes to the hardware buttons, and maybe I can understand better how does it work for you. Sorry.

Fgarcor you are absolutly right, thank you!! But this confuses me much more ? find attached a Screenshot from your apk.
It seems that the keycodes i "mapped" in Hal9K, werent really mapped. Cause in the output of "keyeventdisplay" there are different keycodes. As you mentioned, this have to be the right Codes.
Nevertheless there are just a couple of Buttons recognized but this would be Okey first of All.
A big Mysterium for me is still Tasker ? I dont know how to Set up a Profile that makes a Input tap whenever a Button was Pressed? Which variable/function Do i have to Check for the keyevent?
Im sorry for annoying you, but there is no comprehensibly thread to find on Google. Do you have some experience with tasker and Set up something like this?
I am really thankful for your help so far

It looks like the 19,20,21,22 area corresponding to the arrows (up, down, left right, not necessarily in that order) and the 87, 88 could be select and back?
I think I have something similar in my head unit.
Coming back to the mapping to actions. You said that Button Mapper is not detecting your key presses when you try to add a button? Even after unmapping them from your keycodes in your head unit? Because that is the easiest way to move forward.
Regarding tasker I haven't used it much. Once I tried to set a routine but it turned out macrodroid did the job better than tasker and I sticked to it.
Let me check if I can find it how to do it in tasker.
EDIT: it seems that tasker needs a plugin called auto input where you can either select the key presses to react to, as a trigger, or they can be detected by the app. This is a paid plugin with a trial period of 7 days.
And then I read in some forums that to run a shell command you may need to have root on the device what I guess it is not the case in your display. That also made me think if button mapper or similar could run a shell command.
I need to check a bit further.

So, once again, i tried Button mapper to recognize my Button Keys but nothing will be found. I deleted all keycodes and Pressed any Button, but they wont be displayed in Button mapper.
I also have to mention that i am rooted through Hal9K, i have Magisk Manager and can give superuser for Apps (did that for Button mapper).
Thanks for searching the Internet, i tried Auto Input, but didnt had that much time So far. Seems like i have to read/watch Videos about that plugin and tasker Routines. I hope i have time for that at the weekend. But it would be awesome if it would work, cause i See a lot of opportunity in that.
Thanks for your time, maybe that will help some other Guys
