NG2 broke my Wifi? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Just got my NG2 update the other day (not sure why it took so long). But now when I go to power on Wifi I get the Knox security message:
Your phone's security has blocked an action that is not permitted. No further action is required.

Any ideas and suggestions would be much appreciated! :highfive:

I am almost positive I have read about a solution to this in the Q&A forum or the General forum. I know @churchey360 has a pretty in depth thread on this update and it may be there. Sorry I could not help more.

I am having this exact same issue. Has anyone heard of a fix yet ?

I was able to find the thread that was referenced above and use ODIN to flash the modem and WIFI works again. Other steps were recommended after but I just stopped there since everything appears to be functioning properly.

do you have a link to that handy ?

This is what I used. Just get ODOIN and flash the NG2 Modem tarball and you should get back up and running.

[Q] SGH-i337m

Hello all,
Have been reading this forum for a long time and it has helped me out many times in the past and for that I am grateful to you all. I am relatively new to the s4 but I have a galaxy tab and am comfortable with flashing and using command line utilities and all the goodies that come along with them. (Toooo comfortable lol).
My dilemma is as follows. I stupidly moved some "bloat" apps from system to user and forgot before I was forced to do a factory restore. Now certain items such as optical reader and other apps are gone. I have looked for the carrier specific rom from fido but can not find it. Could someone please point me in the proper direction?
Also what's the most stable and functional rom that can dual boot for the sgh-i337m.?
Thanks in advance.

Go to sammobile.com. You have to register but it's free. They'll have the stock firmware specific to your device and carrier.

Thanks for the help. Exactly what i was looking for. How do I thank you on the forum?
Also which rom is the most stable with working components(wifi, camera, etc), can dual boot and that has a kernel that supports force ac charge.

[Q] cant unbirck help please

so my friend download an app and didn't read anything about it before he installed the app. The app was suppose to replace the home launcher but he was suppose to install another app before he installed it but he didn't. I have tried Odin, Kies, and Heimdall with no luck. I have tried them on different computers and with different cables. His phone is a SGH-I337, yes it is rooted but only for one app that was installed that doesn't affect anything. But now it only go to the download screen with the android man even when booted up normally it only fails the [auth] on Odin and it wouldn't even connect to Kies. Any help would be GREAT, he is only giving me 2 day to try and fix it for him then he is going to buy a new phone. Thanks in advance EVEN IF ITS JUST GUESS I'll still give it a try.
What app did you try to install and what firmware are you on. Odin should work if you use the right firmware.

If the phone is running either the MK2 or MF3 baseband then my thread here may be able to help you. Check ted77usa's post (the last reply on the first page) for how I fixed my phone.

Yes, but he'll have less options in flashing roms if he's interested in that. Otherwise just flash the mk2

Never heard of best buys security. Worst comes to worse you could take it to a best buy with a Samsung experience and they can flash it.

[Q] How to flash the Touch Wiz/ Stock rom on a Galaxy S 4

It's quite easy. Slow down. Read through the stickies and how to's on the Q&A and Development sections. Read through the entire posts of those OPs and you have ALL your answers.

[Q] 4.4.4 baseband drivers?

Anyone have these or know where to get them? I've looked around to no avail. Since CM didn't upgrade them we all have to do it ourselves... I'd rather not have to go through the agony of going back to stock and probably not doing it right, so figured I'd try flashing the drivers. Real tired of my GPS not working at all, and all the other radios just barely hanging on.
Your help is appreciated!
What do you mean by baseband drivers? Do you mean modem? Then you can flash them yourself true Odin. Keep in mind that CM is experimental, so that could be the problem of your GPS problem.

There has been a JIRA ticket open on it since October with many users and different phones having the problem. Anyone who has fixed it themselves has done whatever specific thing for each phone needs to be done to update the modems. It doesn't seem like CM is going to include the modem drivers in a nightly so it's up to each user to do it themselves .

No and it's a good thing that they don't. Hence it's not even possible.

Thanks much! I'll hopefully get to try this today at work.
What I need doesn't appear to be in here, actually looks like my code is a few versions back. I'm gonna need to do it the hard way and flash 4.4.2. Thanks, though.

What you need to do is just pick one of the latest modems. If you don't know which one just try a few 4.4.2 modems. It doesn't have to be exact.

I just got done installing the latest firmware for my specific phone, and am restoring my CM backup now. I also found that they stopped using a comprehensive jflte package and there are now new ones for each type. They stopped doing that late last year and apparently restarted it this month. I may try installing that tonight.
Thanks!

Attempted U firmware

So I attempted the steps located here.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...de-flashing-sm-935u-firmware-verizon-t3415145
It won't seem to install using either ODIN. Now it won't boot to OS. It will boot to recovery and I can still boot do downloading but I cannot get it to work. I know I didn't do anything wrong... the steps are very simple.

Only way someone can help is if you list out the steps you took and the files that you used. Did you do a factory reset before pushing the files via Odin? Which files did you upload to Odin? Did Odin give you any errors?
What build were you on prior to flashing with Odin? I have a strong feeling that you are getting errors by flashing an older version of the U-firmware onto a newer version of V firmware, hence why Odin won't flash it. The link you sent is for PEH, which is fairly old IIRC. Were you on Verizon PI3 before attempting this?
You are probably partly right about the older firmware. The steps didn't really include information that seems updated. Right before I went to bed I was able to get it working. It seems that the phone did not like 4 of my cables. Finally it worked with a really tiny cable I found. Whew. Haha sorry I should have revised this. Is there any way for me to flag it as completed?

Glad you got it to work. BTW that thread is still 100% fine, just the link to the firmware is old. HERE is the link to the newest U firmware that I recommend flashing, in case you care or wanted it.

Oh yea for sure! The steps worked! Only issue was just that since the link is to the old firmware (and it says nothing about new firmware) I had to go looking for the answer, you have provided, during a state of mild panic. LOL I think we've all been there.

Incredible. Leagues ahead of the Verizon firmware. I am on TMOBILE now and I couldn't be happier. So much less bloat to turn off. The speed of apps are even faster. Just feels lighter.
shouthouse,
So you flashed G-935U on your G-935V and put it on T-moblie? Have you unlocked the better bands? I'm on T-mobile and looking to do the same for my G-935V and my wife's G-900V (once I find those instructions). Thanks in advance.
