[Q] Firmware update

I have this verizon galaxy S3 SGH-i535 that I have rooted and unlocked. Currently on T-Mobile USA. Everything is fine
except I can't add APN using APN manager due to my old firmware 4.0.4 My question is: If I update the firmware
will the phone lose root?

Samsung Note 4 Wifi doesnt work with any type of roms please help.

I have the t-mobile version of the samsung note 4 (SM-N910T) and whenever i install a ROM like CM12 and Infamous ROM i can not use the wifi. I cant tick it on/off and the circle is darker than the bluetooth one. Someone please help me.
