License check timed out (Expansion file won't download) - Java for Android App Development

Hello!
I have a problem with my app that is using Expansion file. I've finished developing the app and I've uploaded it to Google Play as a Beta. When I download the app, obb files download with it so there's no probelm so far. But then I deleted the obb file and tried to download it manually with an app to see if the Downloader Library works.
That's when the problem begins. The app won't download the Expansion file itself because it says that "the resources were not found".
I checked LogCat and i think there's an issue with a license because at the time when download should begin, this appears in the LogCat:
08-20 15:15:15.437 27600-27600/? I/LicenseChecker﹕ Calling checkLicense on service for com.mhacinapps.sleepwithnaturesounds
08-20 15:15:15.437 27600-27600/? I/LicenseChecker﹕ Start monitoring timeout.

Any idea what could be causing this?
I literally copied Google's sample code for Expansion downloading so I don't know how there can be any trouble. I've edited the code to suit my app, I've iserted my own Base64 public key.

Downloading attachment failed.

I have the Bell Galaxy S and sometimes email attachments will fail to download. For example I can't download an mpg or jpg file my parents sent me. However, I can download a small text file. Anyone have similar issues and does anyone know how to fix it?
I have an issue downloading "large" files.
It's weird because it seems to be source dependent as well. I was able to download a 34MB HTC sync driver yet a RAR file of 40MB wouldn't download even though the save to pop-up showed up on opera and i pick location but it never starts.
in the built in browser on the other hand i get unsuported file error show up.
I was using the Samsung Email with my hotmail account sync'd. Mpg files and jpg files failed to download. It's very frustrating...even a pdf failed to download but I know I had been able to download one before.
you guys should try this

do you have astro file manager installed? if so, there is an option to enable the browser to download unknown file types or smth like that, but it also states that it will mess up your email attachments, so if you have enabled it, you know what to do ^^
cheers
yes astro works too
Sorry, how does this affect using Samsung Email to download attachments? Does it even help? I'd really just like to know why certain files download fine as attachments to the attachment folder while others do not. How can I make it so I can download all attachments...?
it works just like your file association in windows
if you do not have an App installed that can handle the file type, it wont let you do anything with the file, not even saving it to disk
That's stupid that you can't even download the file. Thanks for the help guys.

[Q] Where is the apk file downloaded from google play stored?

I have a question. You download an app from google play store to your device. And it fails to install due to device incompatibility or certificate error.
So where is the downloaded apk file stored in the device. Like in windows we have a temp folder, do we have a temp folder where the apk file is stored temporarily?
I don't think you can grasp the apk file after install failed as you can't even see the file after it installed correctly. (please correct me if that is wrong) I think this is about copyright protection issues.
Anyways as (almost) always there is an app for that: Try "appmonster". There is a free trial availbe in google play. It saves downloaded apk's to your sd card so you can install it again and again.
I hope that helped you ;-)
Manipur, try to look into /data/apps folder. You may require root permission to access this folder. There should be all user installed apk packages stored. But I'm not sure if there are also apks of applications that failed to install. Just look there and you'll see

Thanks. But applications that failed to install are not backed up.

Apps that failed to install are not backed up though.
There is a program called "APK Downloader" (codekiem.com) which is able to download apk's from Google Play. It only works with free apps so it is "not illegal" but it is against the ToS of Google Play. Use at your own risk!
I have not tested it though...

Gen folder empty

Whenever I create a new Android application project, my gen folder is missing thus giving me the error of R cannot be resolved to a variable.
I've searched around and tried cleaning and building but that did not fix the issue.
Has anyone dealt with this issue before? If so, how did you fix it?
Thanks
I had this issue when there was an error in one of my xml files. Have a close look at every layout again.

I've also read somewhere that it was the xml files causing this issue.
Could you clarify if I should only be looking at the xml files in my layout folder?
Thanks

There should be a red X in Eclipse if there is an error. Sometimes it just appears in the file but not in the project tree.
Since the new sdk update (22) I need to check all boxes under project properties - java build path - import / export.

I've had a similar issue some days ago. My R.java was not regenerated after I cleaned my project.
Here is what fixed it for me: It seems like as of SDK version 22, which I had recently downloaded, there is an additional package you have to download from the SDK manager called "Android SDK build-tools". I installed it, restarted Eclipse and everything was working again.:good:
I had found the solution on StackOverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/a/16643060/1691231
Check for any XML Errors Drawables/Layout/Menu/XML (Major issue in Eclipse)
As mentioned above, Update to latest SDK and Add-ons from the SDK Manager and Eclipse Updater
Remove any R.Android Imports in your Java Classes
And make sure your using a capadible fit version of Eclipse for android Development. Easiest Setup is to use the ADT Combo Package (Altho consumes more Ram)

[idea/need info] Update WMAppManifest.xml on phone?

I know that during the installation process, xaps are scanned for any "illegal" capabilities in the WMAppManifest.xml file. Does anyone know what purpose this file serves after an xap has been installed on the device?
My thought is this:
Install an app with a non-elevated WMAppMAnifest.xml. Then when you launch the installed app, it updates the xml file with additional capabilities (Interop Services, for example) and exits. Then when the app is relaunched, it will have access to the new capabilities in the xml file?
What do you guys think? Has this been done before? is that xml file only used during installation?

i think i tried this way and app returned failure error
i'm sure about that any app have to check capabalities during installation but in launch times i don't know that phone check caps again or no.
best work to test is changing this file in an interop unlock full fs phone and see the re-action
Caps are written to package manager database & global account database. WMAppManifest isn't used after installation is finished.
Yeah, this method was tried long, long ago.
Besides, even if it worked and the file was checked later, all that would mean is that you couldn't launch the app anymore. The capabilities-vs.-unlock-level appears to be checked at every startup, not just at install.
@GoodDayToDie @ultrashot I figured as much, thanks for the info.
On a semi-related note, I just received a completely different HTC 8x (T-Mobile branded) back from HTC (5th time in for repair). If this one really works, maybe I can have some fun with my Lumia 521 and/or try to figure out how to unbrand/mod the 8x. I really want to add WiFi calling to the 8x, but I need to add some certs, a missing dll, and some reg keys.

[Q] Too new google play version?

I have created an android application using Android Studio. I have this code in the manifest file:
<meta-data android:name="com.google.android.gms.version"
android:value= @integer/google_play_services_version"/>
and the value for @integer/google_play_services_version is 520800 (value added automatically when I linked the google play library. No hardcode there).
This is the link between the library and the project
dependencies {
compile fileTree(include: ['*.jar'], dir: 'libs')
compile 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:19.+'
compile 'com.google.android.gmslay-services:+'
}
also auto generated when I have added the google play library from the menu.
The application works fine, bun when I generate a signed APK and try to upload it to the google market it gives me an error sayng that I am trying to upload an APK which uses google play version 5208000 and I should use version 5100000 or lower.
I have tryed to google_play_services_version into 5100000 but then the application stops working form the begining.
How should I make my app runnable and valid for uploading on the market?
I use
"compile 'com.google.android.gmslay-services:5.0.89'"
located on ~/android_sdk/extras/google/gogle_play_services/libproject/google-play-services_lib/AndroidManifest.xml
"android:versionName="5.0.89-000""
