[Q] Directory of apps for backing up - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I'm searching the directory for those four apps because I'd like them to remain in their current state after a hard reset:
VocAppUlary
PvZ 2
Offroad Legends
TypeNote
Can you help me? or is there a better way to back those up? It's just those four apps that I'd like.
Thank you in advance .)

You gave us precious few details about your phone, not even what model of S5 or firmware version you have. So it's impossible to give specific advice. Nor do I use your apps. Your apps may store information in the userdata partition and /or internal or external memory.
The best way to back up is with a custom recovery e.g. TWRP. Or in the alternative, something like Titanium Pro.
.

Excuse me, of course:
model: SM-G900F
version: 4.4.2
I will look up your suggested apps.
edit: I have seen the apps through, but root is no option for me because I've already tried and failed the root access. I think, I've done some damage and therefore would like to reset this phone.
2nd edit: I found an app called Helium that does it. There I can back up single apps into files which I can later extract from my internal memory to anywhere I want. The directory of the internal memory to where Helium saves the back up files is called carbon. Thank you for everything .)

[Q] Best way to switch builds and not loose everything

I am looking at switching builds but dont want to have to reinstall everything post the new build install on my sd card.
What back up system do people recommend, and do any actually allow a full backup/restore that will work?
If not then i will have to reinstall everything, but that seems a really long winded way about switching builds!
Thanks
I save the data .img file from the current build. Then I copy the new Android folder on the root of the mem stick. Then I put the data .img file from the old intall back in the new folder.
The above suggestion doesn't always work. If you're going to a completely different build then it may cause problems.
I use Titanium Backup Pro. It does cost, but not much and allows a full backup and restore of all apps and data.
i just use the free titanium backup to backup all my apps. google sync for contacts and then all i have to do it set up a couple of things like wifi and it work
I used to use the free version, but the last restore I did had nearly 200 apps in it, and you have to click "install" and then "ok" for every app with the free version. The paid one does it without you needing to do anything - that's the only reason I paid for it. (Oh, and it can freeze apps too, which is good for finding out what would happen if you uninstalled an app.)

[Q] How to save before factory reset

Hi,
I don't know where I could ask this so I did it there... move the topic if it's not the good place, thanks.
I want to know on a STOCK (no root, no custom firmware) before a factory reset how to keep all savegame and datas from GAMES somewhere (like a SDCard or else)
because last time I did a factory reset I had to restart all from the start...
- Download all data for games (couples of megabytes)
- Restart all from level 1
Is there any application can help, or method ?
-----------------------------
seems possible to save with ADB
-----------------------------
DunDef :
Backup: adb pull /sdcard/DunDef/ sdcard/DunDef/
Restore: adb push sdcard/DunDef/ /sdcard/DunDef/
*************
but... I think need to be rooted to see all files for others and can push and pull all.
Note:
All method are welcome but I do prefer the genuine one.
Thanks by advance.

Titanium Backup can backup all apps+data and restore back to new ROM even freeze bloatware without delete it
But you will need to be root
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&feature=search_result
I just want backup the "save and data" from game, nothing else...
what folder have to be saved, how to get them back.
let say I want get my tablet like first day, then just reinstall freshly games, and play back right where I was before reset.
Not restore applications, datas, etc...
But I will check about this application anyway.
Thanks.
You don't have access to those files w/o root.
titanium backup do it best.. of course with root, but u can use mybackup pro.. i think it dont require root...
There is a free in the market called "favorite games backup." Not sure what games you're playing but that's what I use for Angry Birds...FYI it backs up to your SD card so it will survive a factory reset. Hope this helps.
Actually I find where was the saves...
they are hidden in data/data/... need to be root for read this directory.
do you have a direct link to the market of the favorite games backup application
I just searched in market for it and can't find it. Might not be compatable with honeycomb or might have been pulled. Can someone confirm...is it ok for me to post .apk if its a free app? I would be happy to do so.

[Q] Please, Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 (uk) Root, Titanium Backup and Link2SD issues

Hi
Please help if you can.
I have a new Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 (T330) uk tablet. I also have a huge folder of backup apps from my sons Nabi2 using titanium backup. I just want to put them on the new tablet.
I tried rooting using this thread: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61421937&postcount=4) but it didnt seem to work, it patched ok through Odin but then when I boot to recovery there is no TWRP to use to install the supersu zip file, so it didnt go anywhere.
So
Instead I tried CF Autoroot and it seemed to work perfect.
I did make sure to use the 4.4etc version and not the NU American version, so I believe the file was the correct one for T330
I then installed Titanium backup, its pro key, link2sd and its pro key.
The link2sd aspect seems to work perfect so thats not an issue, all setup as per the Nabi2 and seems fine.
But when I try the restore from Titanium Backup, it gets a little way in and hangs. I tried setting the preference handling to indirect but doesnt help. I do apps only (no data) and doesnt help. Also, some of the time it hangs on different apps, so its not the app causing problems I dont think. I also disabled market link, no help.
So any thoughts on the problem or solution please?
Is it that the backups were from a different tablet, eg the Nabi2? (Reading online suggests moving apps without data across platforms is fine)
or
Is it a bad rom from the CF Autoroot? Any way I can try the original link (which might have failed because mine is the Euro version of the tablet?) instead to do the twrp root?
or
Do I have a bad Titanium backup version form play store right now?
Just dont know.
Also, another complication:
My backup apps total 850 (yes I know its a lot but my son loves them and his autism will not let any be deleted) and I did try install them all in one go from the play store and it seemed to work but on a reboot it hanged, bricked, so I had to re flash original firmware back to factory. Seeing as the slower, smaller 8GB nabi2 has no problem holding the 850 apps so I would be surprised if it turns out to be breaking the limit of the Galaxy Tab 4, but is this possible? There is plenty of internal and SD memory free after the install.
Trying to restore backups to the tablet memory before later moving with link2sd also hangs, so to be that rules out link2sd being the problem.
Please any help? Anything would be appreciated.
My thanks for reading
Alex
PS: I did think that swapping his Nabi2 for a more well known widespread tablet such as the Galaxy Tab would be a good idea as the Nabi2 is getting more scarce, but it seems to have turned into an unexpected nightmare.

How to find associated data location of an apk?

Is there any app/method to achieve this ? I think it would be a generic app, if it exists. But I own a stock Moto G4. Hence, method specific to this device would also suffice.
For example, Fifa Mobile is installed in my device. Now I want to know where are all the associated data, so I can manually copy from the location. I know there are some tools like TItanium Backup or other ( I dont remember), but I guess, those work on rooted device and they simply backup the whole data+apk.
Ok, first off, my G4 is stock and not rooted.
I use File Manager from ZenUI, Asus Computer inc, available at the play store.
Once installed look in the phone's main memory, in the Android folder, sub folder Data.
fifamobile should be there...

[ROOT] Need help rooting my S8 SM-G950U please!

Hello, I have been looking for a way to root my device without flashing (deleting data on my phone) because I have a lot of data that can not be retrieved through a backup such as chat data that is saved on an app's server or only gives you access to back it up within the app. I cannot open my apps right now due to a malicious APK. My apps constantly crash until I reinstall them from the app store, but upon reinstalling them I lose all my data since I deleted the app without backing up first, I still have all the apps that I want to back up, but as stated they cannot be opened. The Google Play store, Samsung, and app developers cannot do anything to help, I've already been in contact with them numerous times. I want to root my phone so that I can create a Google Drive backup of the information in the apps or be able to copy the data to paste it over a newly reinstalled app. I know something like this exists for KIK.
I have heard that towelroot and framaroot don't delete data on my device when used to root, but I wanted to come here to know for sure. So if anyone can point me in the right direction or even walk me through it I would seriously appreciate it because this has frustrated me for a month now and I want to root it so bad.
Here's my device info;
-Model: S8 SM-G950U
-One ui version: 1.0
-Android 9.0
-Baseband version: G950USQU8DUA2
-Android security patch level: December 1, 2020
-Carrier: Sprint
Thank you for your time and assistance.

Apps like this often install adware on your phone afterwards, so make sure to reflash ROM afterwards.
You don`t need root to copy non-system-related files. So make a backup of folder of your apps and after you will reflash ROM, install these apps and swap data.
Also, I don`t know any app that wouldn`t restore your messages after you reinstall it. Can you name me your messenger so I can try it myself to be sure?
Another option is to install antivirus.

I created a backup with Smart Switch, but I am not that confident in that backup. From what I've seen it backs up most of the data, but I don't know how chat data from messaging apps are handled with backups. Is there a more precise backup that copies over all data exactly as it was on my phone in this current state with all accounts logged into as I am now?
The apps I am concerned for their data are LINE, HelloTalk, KIK, and songs I saved with Shazam since I never linked an account to it. WhatsApp used to be on this list, but a friend told me that WhatsApp locally saves its data to the device's storage so I was able to backup the data just by reinstalling WhatsApp and restoring from internal storage.
It was directly stated that LINE data would not be backed up through Samsung Switch. If you could make an account on these apps, send some messages, and do a backup and restore to see if the messages transfer I would be grateful. I also have no idea if Shazam songs that were found without an account can be transferred as well.
I am sorry, I don't have a Samsung device. What you can do is go to your file manager and copy all folders you see to external storage. Then, after reflashing ROM, get data of wanted messaging apps back by pasting it to internal storage.
What about antivirus?
