nope

Yes and no. I don't believe that Verizon uses SIM locks. So you can move to the other carrier without root as the poster above stated.
But you'll likely need root to vanquish the uber-annoying you've inserted a SIM card from an unknown source messages from the Verizon setup app after you do so. So in any practical sense, yes, you will need root.

[Q] Best way to SIM unlock my SGH-1337 MF3 Phone?

I want to know what the best method is for unlocking my Galaxy S4 SGH-1337 MF3 build Currently running on the airvoice network. I do NOT have an AT&T account but should I still give them a call and ask for an unlock code? or use an unlocking service? also from my understanding there is no sim unlock method for the MF3 build currently.
Thanks in advance!

If you pay full price, give them a call and they might give you the code.

First, unlocking the sim card is not related to the version of your phone.
So if you bought it from At&t with full price, some of them they will tell you to wait 90 days before asking for the unlocking code.
If you bought it from someone, ask the previous owner to call them and to ask for the unlocking code. Otherwise, use google, and try your luck.

I'm talking for other carriers. and I tried the *#0011# method and the other one witht the long string of numbers I cant remember but it never goes to the menu to let me choose [1]UMTS.
free unlock method has been known to screw people's phones up. There are several warnings throughout that thread the mention it.
Just go with the options that I mentioned, or use google, such as "Auction website" they do some kind of these service I guess.
Actually, on the AT&T MDL and MDB firmwares you were able to sim unlock it through service menu:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683
http://gs4.wonderhowto.com/how-to/c...y-s4-so-you-can-use-another-sim-card-0148110/
MF3 blocked this, so the only way you can get your phone sim unlocked with the update is using ebay or cellunlocker but at a price.

Unlock AT&T S4 to T-mobile

Hello,
I am sorry to ask this again but I have an AT&T S4 that's currently stock and runing 4.4.2 and I was wondering if there is any way to unlock it for T-mobile? I tired following some of the posts on here but they seem to be old and outdated. Does anyone have any other suggestions?'
Thanks!

I haven't heard anything yet..did more digging and it seems like you have to downgrade but then it's not guaranteed that you can unlock it.. I bought an unlock code for $30..still waiting to get it so I'll let you know if it works lol

If you are an AT&T customer or a previous member you can unlock your AT&T phone by going here. It is FREE and i have done it with all my phones so far. They provide you with an unlock code and all you have to do is insert the new non-at&t sim and enter the unlock code.

Since you have the unlock code, it will be almost the same thing. All you do is insert the non-att sim card and it will ask you to enter the unlock code. Enter the code and now you have an unlocked phone.

There isn't a single method that has worked properly for me.

I have a used note 4. The note 4 is from t-mobile, running Android 6.0.1, SM-910T....98% of rooting methods just brick the phone into the samsung welcome screen. The one method I did find that successfully rooted the phone didn't allow me to use the phone properly being that the sim card I use is for AT&T. So Voicemail didn't work, data didn't work, Navigation didn't work..The phone was basically useless.. I can never get any actual help from anyone here or a clear set of instructions on how to accomplish what I need to do....My note 4 is unlocked...I need to root the note 4...I then need to install an os/firmware that works with AT&T. It shouldn't be that difficult. Yet it's proving impossible to accomplish.

Since your rooted with twrp. You can just install a root browser and delete bloatware. Just make sure you know what your deleting.
And AT&T should work the way it is. You probably just need to set up your apn.

Anyone can unlock Sprint LG V20 remotly ?

When i pop in my t-mobile sim card, the phone does not recognize it or prompt me for a network code or anything ? anyone know of someone or a service to sim unlock the sprint variant ? Thank you
Bump
I'm also trying to figure this out, as I am not able to even connect to T-Mobiles server to trigger the unlock. All that my unlock app does is just sit there with a spinning wheel and say " connecting to server, please wait " , so if I cannot get passed that than I'm screwed cause it's gotta at least prompt me if I want to unlock permanently or temporary. Darn thing just keeps spinning like I'm blocked from even connecting. Can someone who is rooted check to see if their phone will prompt for an unlock or not? Thanks in advance!

If the T-Mobile unlock app is on the Sprint version (Which I doubt) use this site https://www.unlockbase.com/phone-unlocking-service/tmobile-device-unlock-app-official-unlock/ otherwise you might contact them and find out if they can sim unlock it another way. Or sideload the T-Mobile Unlock app and see if it works that way (I doubt this would work but you never know til you try)

If you are rooted, it can detect it and it will stay on the spinning wheel. Only way I got it to work was to restore to stock no root and it worked (It kept giving me a unlock not available until I bought the unlock service from https://www.unlockbase.com/phone-unlocking-service/tmobile-device-unlock-app-official-unlock/ )

I was thinking that it was because I was rooted , so I guess I will try and restore to an unrooted state and see if that makes a difference.

is the phone paid off in full? no more monthly obligation? if not that's the reason you can't unlock. it's because you don't own the phone sprint does. NO ONE can get a device unlocked from distributor without full payment fulfillment.

I might already be locked being it's a Sprint variant. Boot it up without the sim and if the unlock switch isn't greyed out then flip the switch. After that no sim can relock it

Bootloader is unlockable regardless.
From the way I understand it, if you boot the device with Sprint SIM, it will carrier lock the device. Meaning you will have to wait for Sprint to push updates for OTA.
But I am on Sprint and can confirm you can still unlock and root the device as normal instructions for the device state. And also sideload updates etc with no issue.

What are you talking about? There is no "crapware".
I bought the phone at Best buy and use Sprint. It locks as far as roaming and it hides the tethering option but I did switch the Sim and it worked on FreedomPop fine

If you boot into the bootloader, the phone will read "Sprint" or "OpenUS" next to variant.
