I am wondering if S5 can make full use of UHS bandwdith going over 10Mbps/sec. I find S4 can't. Anyone has the SD read/write speed data of S5 to share?
Thanks
Steve
You can record 4K videos to external memory so can manage at least 25mbps.
I'd love to have a 10Mbps/sec card. But I suppose that was just a typo.
Speeds are about ~35 Mbps with better spec'd external SD cards.
Good enough for most uses, but not nearly as good as the speeds you see with internal memory. Which makes it a bit criminal that a so called flagship model is only available in 16 GB (in North America) when the base N3 model has a 32 GB ROM. The S5 should have been 32 GB base and 64 GB ROM optional.

Thanks for the reply. but I think I made a typo. It is 10MB/sec. If you have S5, you might want to run "SD Tools" to check the speed.

I can't agree more. 32GB is definitely what we need here for a reasonable price.
I have used SD Tools and get the following results...
Write Speed..125.8Mb/s
Read Speed...336.6Mb/s
Hope this helps

An overcredulous belief that those results are accurate would be a larger issue than the spurious results per se.
.
Thanks for your help. I guess this is Mb/s not MB/s just to make sure. If this is the case I believe s5 makes full use of UHS speed.

Could you let me know what kind of sdcard you are using and which processor exynos or snapdragon?

i think the real question is why would you need to change the internal one. 2gb of app storage is pretty damn awesome to say the least i mean im only using 285mb and ive got over 100apps installed

That is true plenty enough just read about someone putting a 32gig as the internal memory and he has a 32gig sd card so he has 64 gig

32GB class 1 would be slow for apps/performance. for storage its alright so if you want a higher capacity for internal app storage, get a speedier 16gig card or wait for better 32gig cards.
I was wondering if it is possible to use a 64 GB microSD card with my MT4G. If so, what ROM do I need? I searched and the only thread I found was a thread from 2011 saying that the cap is 32 GB because that is the limit of microSDHC. I found a good deal on a 64 GB card and would like to get it if I can use it.
Yeah it will work, but you won't get the claimed speeds due to our old hardware.
Just format the card in the phone and you're good to go.
what is the speed I will get with the card? I'm looking at a class 6

Not sure. I'm doing research on this. I know the card will WORK on the mytouch 4G, but I don't see any mytouch 4G specific speed tests. I saw where a newer phone got better speed on sdxc class 6 than sdhc class 6, but again that's newer hardware.

What kind of speed tests are you guys looking for? I have a 64GB microSDXC card in my MT4G. I'd be willing to run a couple tests if you guys are looking for any specific information as long as you tell me what you want done.
Can we use a SD booster app to get the acclaimed speed with a 64GB SD card ? :what:

A lot of the performance gain seen with SDXC cards comes from the new file system included- exFAT. ExFAT is not supported on our device, at least not in any ROMs I've used since getting mine. I'm not sure if different ROMs can include the necessary changes to allow exFAT usage. If I had to speculate, I'd say it probably depends on firmware updates to the card reader in the phone that we likely won't ever see.
Instead, to achieve functionality, you must use your phone to format the microSD card before it can be used. As a result, we won't be able to see all the benefits the newer, higher capacity cards have to offer. An SD booster application may still be able to speed things up a little, just as it could with the older cards. I just wouldn't expect too much.

My microSDXC card is a Sandisk Class 10 200x 64GB SDXC. The formatted capacity of my card is 59.4GB. I have about 31GB of free space. This card was NOT empty when I ran these tests. I'm not sure that would effect the tests at all, but if so, this should lean more towards real performance rather than results you'll never see once you start using a card.
Here are a few speed tests:

Seeing as Samsung didn't mention a 64GB version during the official Note 4 announcement, I doubt there will be one any time soon, if ever.

Get you a good microsd card, I just got a 128 gb SanDisk microsd card...the latest versionm..it's very fast with reads and writes
Not sure why there would be a need for 64gb internal storage option when sd card can expand to 128gb as well as the fact most people have free cloud storage of many gig as well
only 24GB

That`s the reason I didnt buy yet Note 4. The internal storage is too little for this flagship.
No one`s know if will be in the next 2-3 months a 64GB ?? More I cannot wait.
The 64gig models are usually very rare because Samsung takes its sweet time to release them and when they do, its in very little quantity. If you are desperate to load 10+ huge games on your device, just move everything else to the microSD and commit your internal just for these apps. 32GB is enough really...
Maybe for you, the internal storage is used better for 4k recording, with microSD it lags sometimes (or when I modify [they are some hacks already] the bitrate to higher I dont want to think what can happen to a microSD)
Hi! I have a question. I would like to purchase a 128 GB MicroSD card for my sgs4 running CM13 nightlies and split the memory card into 2 partitions and through that way have more memory than what Samsung says it can manage. Am I needed to do it this way or can the CM rom handle it anyway?
Thankful 4 answers

I don't see the point in splitting. Any sd card will work with the s4. It's just that when the s4 came out 64gb was the maximum size of a sd card. 128gb will work fine.
Can i split it and use one partition with the internal storage function and the other as Portable storage

I don't think it's infinite. At some point micro sdcards will change technology in order to achieve higher speeds and bigger storage capacity. At that point there will be a compatibity issue.

Hello
I want to buy a 128 Gb SD card
What is a good and fast sdcard?

Sorry because I bumped this, but I've the same question.
I want to know which 128GB MicroSD fits the best in terms of quality and performance, with Mi A1.
Thanks!

I'm currently using a Sandisk Class 10 and it's quite good, but it's over 1 year old, there maybe better version out there. However, note that Mi A1 does not support 128GB sd card by default, you have to format it with the phone or install a kernel that supports Exfat. The only kernel working for me is Canting, I tried others like Moun or Extreme but neither of them worked.

You're trying to say that 128gig SD cards are supported only if formated to exFat right? Because according to GSMarena 128 gig cards are supported by default. I've also read that even 256 gig cards are supported.

I'm using 128GB Sandisk Extreme Pro V30 A2. It improves 4k recording. Also, I didn't have to format, I'm using it right out of the box.

Yeah, that's what I mean. To me, "support" means plug it in and it works without doing anything else. This is the only thing I hate with Mi A1, supports 128gb sd cards but do not support Exfat.

Thanks, friend. I've read a little around, but I found some interesting questions... and reported bugs.
1) Some people says our device should be able to support up to 2TB because of its technology, however 128GB was told because it was the standard in that moment.
2) Other people says SDcard size is reporting wrong size and free space (telling that Oreo and Pie is reporting the double of the real size of those cards).
So, my idea is to know what's the true around this, if this is a problem related to the type/category of the SDcard itself, or if this is related only to Stock ROM (Don't know if this is happening on custom ROMs also).
I don't know what causes that bug, but I also want to know what's the true maximum size Mi A1 allows, and under which conditions.
I want to buy a large sized SDcard, trying to reach the limit that device allows, but I can't try it before buying it ($$$$)
My idea is to keep it as internal storage, unless you have a better idea.
Thanks in advance!

From what I read, the double bug only happen when the card is used as internal storage.
Is the size bug happening only with cards bigger than 128GB or also 128? Because if bigger sdcards cause issues, I would save myself the money and just buy 64GB or something.

I read it happens with any size, but I don't know if those reports come from stock or custom ROMs exclusively.
