[Q] Get Official Status Back - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I rooted my Canadian Note 3 using the information and guidance from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53632129
Everything went well, I now have root, I did not flash anything else but my device status in download mode and in settings -> about shows up as custom.
I downloaded the pro version of triangle away which fixed the download mode and flash counter.
However, my device status is still Custom in device settings.
I have tried downloading Xposed Framework along with Wanam Xposed and tried to use the security settings to go back to official, did not seem to help.
I want this to go back to Official so I can get OTA updates.
Still looks like this, any advice?

Make sure you have stock kernel and recovery, then use TriangleAway

I did not flash a new recovery or kernel, just rooted with CF AutoRoot and that is it, tried Triangle Away PRO version, it resets the flash counter and says official in download mode. However, in system settings -> about it says "scanning" when the phone is turned on and then goes to "custom"

2nd hand phone - almost blank screen after booting & selecting language

Apparently the owner ran into an issue after trying to update to kit Kat with Odin. I presume he tried to flash the stock firmware since be doesnt know what root means. He says it boots up fine and you manage to get into the select language screen. But afterwards you get a sparse black screen.

Sounds fixable. I should be able Odin another rom and flash cwm, root it and custom rom etc right?

Looks like it's running acustom ROM at the moment.
If the owner knows how to flash firmware on a phone, why hasn't he fixed it himself?

Um. The screenshot is of my phone showing his screenshot on gumtree.
This is his screenshot
I get what you mean though. Isn't Odin only used by users who know? Since normal users would perhaps use kies? Lol

Sigh. Bought the phone, for 200 though. I flashed a stock firmware via Odin. Still same screen as above. Sigh. I tried rooting it and getting Philz touch on it. Touch input does not seem to work. Loaded aosp roms and kernels onto the phone. Flashed it via Philz recovery. Gives me bootloops.
Ideas?

Managed to somehow install a aosp rom. Touch input doesn't work? Wtf? How do I fix it? Screen lights up fine so what's the issue?
Managed to get it linked to adb somehow. Any way I can fix the touch issue?

[q] sm-n900 - mt6582

I have root access on the device, i have cwm installed which is version: rual autocwm v5.5.0.4.
The problem I have If I try to install any Rom it either freezes or half way through installlation returns me to cwm. I have tried to upgrade cwm to the newer versions ie touch etc and it completes the install and updates but once phone has rebooted is returns me back to the old cwm v5.5. If I do a battery pull the phone boots back up as normal and runs 4.3 and shows I have root.
Some of you might think well I have root access I should be happy however I don't just want to run apps, I wish to play with mods and custom roms so I will like some help if possible.

What do you mean 'mt6582' in the title? Is it MediaTek chipset? If the answer is yes, so you may own a fake device.
You can use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app to check if it is a original one. Go to the Menu --> 'Refurbishment Check'.

Yes it is a MediaTek chipset! I am aware its a like for like clone. My understanding is the clones with MediaTek Chip can still support custom roms?

So your device is not a Note 3, you cannot use any Note3's rom obviously.
Please use Phone INFO app to check to make sure.

software update

I rooted my s5 with towelroot and my knox count is still 0x0
now if I try to check for software update I get this

so rooting is the reason? cz I thought keeping the knox count 0 is what mattered.and how should I solve this keeping the count 0?
Turn device in download mode and check Knox waranty void.
Also Xposed module Wanam can fake system status to official

I'm not sure why you are surprised? it's well known that Samsung doesn't sanction rooting. If they did, we wouldn't need exploits like Towel root to root our phones.
When you check for an update, the update utility has a quick look at your system to see if the system files are as expected and discovers that key files have changed (because you rooted). And insists that you go back to stock before the update proceeds. If you think about it a moment, the message you received makes perfect sense.
It's questionable if you should update at all if you have a rooted system. If you do, then you ought to be doing it manually in a controlled manner. Which is to say that you don't let the system check for updates itself. Instead download the new firmware, then use something like Mobile Odin Pro to write the .tar file, choosing everroot, inject superuser and wipe cache.
.
wildalan, ,aybe stupid question - you received this information before downloading the update or just before installation after downloading the OTA?
You should download samsung kies and then connect your phone .wait a while.then click software update....it will download and install latest update.it may take a while and u will have latest software updated without knox tripping

If you want official update
Pleas reflash stock+ unroot
I had issues with rooted n7 while updating to 5.0
Please post the following information:
1. Model Number
2. Android Version, found by going to Settings > More > About device.
3. Firmware Version (AP, CP, CSC), found by dialing *#1234# in the dialer or by installing Phone Info from the Play Store and running it.
4. Service Provider
5. Country
6. Is the phone rooted? (Yes/No)
7. Is a custom ROM installed? (Yes/No, and the name of the ROM)
There may not be an Android 5.0.1 ROM available for your area as of yet, but if you can post the relevant information above, it will greatly aid in searching.
simple way
Hi,you asked to flash lollipop .its very simple go to "sammobiles.com" in firmware section (you must login to download the file)find your phone model when the list appears choose "INU"or"INS" select download the file and download "ODIN"v.3.09 in odin select "AP"put your phone into download mode and start.now you just flashed lollipop done. If you had any booting problem please hard reset your device and wait antil boot.thats it.enjoy

S8, download mode shows Knox 0x0 but S-health and other related app say rooted

Hello everybody,
I am totally new so please forgive me if I ask something stupid.
So I got this phone, S8. In Download Mode, it shows Knox is not tripped (0x0) but my S-health and Samsung Pay doesn not work. And I am sitting at android 7 and cannot upgrade.
Pics attached below.
I know nothing about rooting or flashing so a little more details would be super great. Thank you guys.

Go in the recovery what version does it say at the top. Also what model is the device its written on the back next to imei number.
Looks like you are on carrier locked device with locked bootloader and rooted rom.
Your solution is to flash same version of stock firmware.

Hi Vcek,
It is S8, SM-950U. Unlock carrier. Android 7 version, G950USQU2BQK5
So in the end, is it rooted or none-rooted phone? The Knox 0x0 confused me alot.
I did some google and someone says sth about flashing with Odin, and flash all of the options such as Bootloader, AP, CP, CSC and so.
Then my question is,
1. Will flashing with Odin using the firmware I download updato.com (could not download from SamMobile) trip the Knox?
2. By saying stock firmware, do you mean "official" firmware or else? Like I can use a firmware for T-Mobile, android 9 (Pie) or I have to use a T-Mobile, android 7 version?
3. The firmware I got from updato.com is for AP flashing, so for other options like CP, CSC, where can I download the official files?
4. I should not flash bootloader, should I? Since it will trip Knox?
5. Is there any better sites than updato.com and SamMobile? One is so freaking slow and the other is not downloadable.
Thank a lot for helping me!
Hi all,
The problem was solved. I just flashed all of the options with a stock room using Odin.
