Just use texdroider.... You have a high chance of bootlooping if you follow those steps.

hmm was bored so i moved my density to 160... lol made everything small and now the launcher keeps failing... so how can i change the density in adb or something without using my phone?
you'd have to pull your build.prop via adb and edit it I guess notepad++? Then find where is says dpi or resolution whereever you find the 160 at and change it back to 240 save it and push it back in the /system

Try iFont from Play, that may work.
Don't use ROM toolbox or any other font changing app. They will give u boot loops.
First make a nandroid backup.
Download your font and make sure its the same style as the one you want to replace (normal, bold, italic). It also must be ttf, not otf.
Then using a root file manager go to system/fonts and delete the font that you want to replace. Then paste the downloaded font into the directory and change its name to the font that it will be replacing (ex: Roboto-Regular.ttf)
Change its permissions to rw-r-r and reboot.

First things first, YOU'RE DOING A FABULOUS JOB. Keep up the good work :good:
Now coming to my doubt, Can we use the same above mentioned method to change the font style in the STOCK ROM & KERNEL?
If no then please guide how can I change the font style? I prefer not to use third party applications.

Just go here, and download the font packs of your choice. Then boot into a custom recovery and flash. This works fine on stock rom & kernel, but you need root and a custom recovery.

Too good
I have AOKP rom. iFont works but it changes ALL the fonts.
Is there an app which only changes the fonts I want to change?

Wait you set your DPI to 0? No wonder it bootlooped...
I'm going to try 240 or so, that's what I had on my Note 2. All you have to do is modify build.prop, I used a DPI changer on the play store though as I had issues with my root explorer changing it.
I tried texdroider dpi app from playstore, I changed it to 360 and when I rebooted I never came back. Had to do the flash back to stock process.

Same here, the only value that didn't get a bootloop is 380 DPI, anyone has any clues to this behavior ?

lol if you are root just xposed installer and app settings, then change dpi per app the way you like.
That way you can leave stock untouched

I really dont know what rom your using , AHA, and here's the information about how Bootanimation.zip can be placed in /system/media with custom roms or in or /data/local with stock roms with custom kernels as Battery Extender, Cf-root...
So, mount system (R/W) and paste bootanimation.zip in system/media/ or in in /data/local/ and set the correct permissions rw--r--r-- (if it doesn't work set rwxrwxrwx as permissions , and i hope someone willing to help you with this problem.Have a nice day.

There is in android n. I believe you can do it through adb without root on MM too.

Screen resolution or DPI?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
If you mean dpi, using adb run:
adb shell wm density xxx && adb reboot
Replace "xxx" with the dpi you want (560 is stock, I use 484 which is what android N describes as small)
Don't need root for this.

This causes some issues with some apps as they don't scale properly as with the build prop tweak
