Nope just was in system updates this morning. Very happy for those that own one since this is considered a "dead" device. I started doubting the recent purchase of it for my wife but now that she has it, the battery life will be greater with the extended battery and she'll have the newest software. I may troll around here just to keep the forum moving.

What would happen if the system updated by itself while my device was rooted? What would happen if it updated while many system apps were frozen by Titanium?

Don't quote me on this but I don't think that it will automatically install by itself. I manually installed it on my wife's phone. Not sure about the system apps.

It's actually on my wife's phone and sadly I am at work. I will try and do it when I get home. Fingers crossed.
Ah cheers for that But heres the big question again ... was your wife's Pro rooted when she got it? I am always unsure with that ... last time for the update, I didnt unroot and left some apps frozen and it was absolutely fine. This time I am not so sure though ... :/

I can post some tonight. Didnt really see anything different at first glance besides the confirmation of the software version. And that it was a lil snappier.
Here are a few of the updated phone. Gonna look into update file now.

Any luck with the update file?
I've been checking for updates on my Nexus 10 for the last 24 hours but it keeps saying my system is updated even if im still on 4.2.2.
I'm on rooted stock with locked bootloader. do i need to fully unroot it to get the update? How to do that?
I really dont feel like flashing it myself as I would hate loosing all my data

No need to unroot. You'll get the OTA even when rooted. It just doesn't seem like anyone has actually gotten the OTA yet. Keep checking your tablet, but you're probably better off checking here for someone to post the download link once they get it.

You know that you can flash a factory download without losing data, right? Android Police did a writeup if you want the full details, but the short and sweet version is download the .tar, extract the contents, and then just run fastboot flash boot boot.img, reboot, fastboot flash system system.img, and you're basically done.

Well I tried it and it didn't work. Even if they did, it's not a guaranteed thing. The clear Google Framework and CHECKIN phone codes are just ways to possibly bump up your chances. If you want the update badly, you can flash the factory images from the developer page. If you take care and don't use the flash-all script, then you can keep data in the process.

Argh, I am getting really inpatient.
I am in Los Angeles, California and no OTA update for me.
It seems like the East Coast are starting to get it - so perhaps over the weekend it will come to CA.
I have yet to hear anyone in California getting it yet - though please correct me if I am wrong.
I was thinking of doing the Google Services Framework thing, but I have been reading online that it can mess up your Google account doing that.

Works on locked bootloaders. Flashed fine on my phone. Was trying out a way to keep root, but failed. So I figured I'd just go all the way and update the boot loader too since it won't let me flash back. No regrets. Don't use root for much anyway. If Jcase releases an exploit; since I saw on his twitter he has root; I'll probably will re-root. For now happy with my Kitkat.

It feels fast, but that could be a placebo effect. Will know as time passes. Have notice 1 issue so far. The multitask button acts funny sometimes from the home screen. The screen will flicker whenever you press it from the home screen and sometimes you have to press it twice. Don't know if this is intentional, but whenever you flick away all, but one app the multitasker closes.

I wouldn't say that. I had a full system freeze which has never happened before. Had to hold the power button to restart phone.
Normally when that happens it is an app and you can hit home key and go back.
First time on a stock build this has ever happened.

Well, with the exception of the people whose stock phones bricked, there isn't too much wrong. The home key is a pain in the neck. I'm also having higher battery drain since the update. Otherwise, anybody who picked up my phone would have a hard time figuring out if it was running Jellybean or KitKat.

You said easy root. Are you talking about the root path (being rooted and then making it keep through the update)? Or did you have some other root method that worked for you on kitkat? It may be a long shot, and I know it's not known to work, but I've been meaning to try root on 4.4 to see if I get lucky.

I can confirm that the unlock is real.
It should be noted that users should NEVER EVER get or take another update from Amazon. This usually involves an upgrade to the "aboot" partition which will IMMEDIATELY RELOCK the device.
Once the device is unlocked several key changes take place in the functionality:
- The device no longer checks for signatures on recovery or boot images. This would allow for custom recovery and the potential for full AOSP ROMs.
- If powered on with both volume buttons pressed, fastboot mode is started for easier recovery of the device.
The unlock, may only apply to certain versions of the OS (*.3.2.1 etc). Some tests for downgrading and then running the exploit need to happen over the weekend and I'm sure that's why you don't see this released yet.
Also, there is probably going to be a fee to unlock, that's a new business model for devs to still make some money off unlock exploits while keeping that exploit from being patched by the OEMs.

I will gladly pay a nominal fee.
FireOS is pretty crappy once you actually start using the device with google play store... Apps (mostly games) constantly crash due to memory issues that i know are because of the OS. How can my HTC One M7 have ~ 900MB ram available at idle when the HDX has ~300 at idle... No phone services are even running? Oh wait, all the crap amazon services are and are so tied in with the OS they are basically impossible to stop/remove without bricking the device...
I can't wait for un-locked boot loader and some real android.... :victory:
