Hi, So I recently just unlocked my Verizon S4. Switched the sim for a AT&T sim, when it rebooted it was working great. Till I realized tht in the notifications bar, "Unknown sim" is forever there. And my network shows up as H.. I checked my APN nd it's set to nothing. Help???!!! Oh, And it's on Global network... should it be?

Have you attempted to search for your providers APN information and manually add it?

What if I do that and it goes back to being lock to my Verizon sim? How would I know if it's really unlocked? Cause I'm using the data now. I can make calls, msgs, nd get on the Internet thanx to the apn settings I entered, but how do I change it to 4g icon instead of the H+? Nd getting rid if the unknown sim... or does none of this matters?

You can always try to search for the 4G apn settings (if such exists) for Verizon, and or go to your mobile network settings and set 4G as preferred network type.

Mate ,
Once is unlock is always unlock no matter what sim you put in
You did not mention you could make call and send messages , to get 4G review your settings/connections /more networks /mobile networks and make sure you have the right setting there .
if you have dta and voice you should not have the "unknown sim " error ......try with a different sim to see if is sim related.

ok so i have a unlocked G1 and it wont get service with a tmobile or att sim it shows the bars with and X next to em. it shows it has a sim in it cause when it doesnt it shows a sim with an exclamation point.
i just want to know how to make it get service i have the correct apn but no luck someone help please
you got the latest radio?
i dont think so. but havent messed with the phone such as putting roms on it and things like that
well check to see if your apn's listing are there that maybe why your not getting any service .if you had tryed a tmoble sim and att sim card .both not worked then sounds like apn issue. plus make sure you have the right apn for your area because there are so many diff ones.
i only have the att apn. could that be the problem that i need all the default apns for it to get service?
could someone post all the apns in the G1 for me
Whether you have the apn entered or not won't matter in your case. The apn settings are for specifying the internet/data access settings for a provider. If you have the zero bars icon then you are not even connected to the network at all (meaning you aren't even getting voice, let alone data). Try going into Settings>Wireless>Mobile Networks>Network Operators. Maybe you can manually select at&t.
im stuck at the activation screen. should i try to reflash the radio then becaue i dont get any bars at all.

It's worth a shot.
I've been using it on tmo since yesterday. Solid signal, very stable so far. I ran speedtest this morning and got 56 up\26 down. The speed is crazy fast.
To get the Note 4 working on Verizon:
1. Change the APN setting.
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-2090
2. Change the network mode to Global in Mobile networks (same place where you set the APN)
3. Change the voice mail number.
-Open the Phone app, click on the 3 dot Menu button, go to Settings, select Call, select Voice Mail Setting, and change the number from *86 to 123.
-I use Google Voice, so I just switch mine to Google Voice.
4. If touch tone DTMF is not working for you, try to turn of noise reduction or change the DTMF from Short to Long.
5. To get rid of the annoying SIM message in the notification. Tap, hold the message and select App Info then force close it. Do this every time you reboot the phone.
Hi, noob question here, I am also using tmo network on a verizon note 4 but I can't seem to go online... I was told to changed the Network mode to GSM but still nothing. it also says the Signal strength is -67 dBm 23 asu. Any help would be great thanks!

Good to know. I'll be taking this bad boy to Asia next month. Sounds like it'd be a no problem sticking a new sim card as long as I get the APN down ?

how to remove Verizon bloatware
I'm using the Verizon note 4 with the T Mobile SIM card and it works well, it connects to 4G LTE, but I cannot use mobile hotspot because its integrated with Verizon's services. All the APN settings are fine but it says mobile number not found.
Does anyone know how to remove all of the Verizon bloatware? Things such as the Playstore and settings even have Verizon bloat. Data Usage tool also does not work either.
Also to note, whenever i reboot the phone a permanent notification apoears saying something like, "Sim card is not Verizon," which can only be removed if you force close the activation agent. Its annoying that Verizon left its mark throughout parts of the phone.
Is it possible to make this a Regular galaxy note 4?
(Another weird thing is that the settings menu cannot be switched to carousel mode which the T-Mobile version can do.)

fast.t-mobile.com
also make sure you do have LTE in your area.

To get rid of that notification, press and hold it until the App Info window appears. Hit that window then you'll go to the Activation Agent app settings. Push "Force Close" and it will disappear.
Nice and easy but the only problem is that you have to do this every time you restart your phone.

It depends if your market uses LTE band 4. Probably though.
Also, it looks like (once root is achieved) you'll be able to add more LTE bands.
Do we lose frequencies when we use a verizon phone on tmobile? Doesn't seem to have band 12.

Shouldn't be an issue since AT&T and T-Mobile primarily use band 4. The other bands are for additional bandwidth if there is congestion and T-Mobile uses band 12 in limited markets.

tried that now same thing H, and no lte
had my kid take the sim out of his 6 plus on att,,boom lte fired rite up,maybe a 2 yr old sim needs replacing ??
I'm seeing the same issue. After boot, the phone is stuck on HSPA. Toggle airplane mode, then the 6p connects to LTE.
I know T-Mo folks have similar issues. For T-Mo, I read about toggling the "Advanced LTE" setting and rebooting resolves the issue.
I would like to find a better solution than toggle airplane mode with ATT.
I called att. I had the same issue last year with my moto x pure. They had refresh their system and reenter the imei number and change my device. I rebooted and it works now. You can chat online if you want. The apn settings should auto plug in when you boot the phone with whatever carriers sim card.
Thanks for this thread. I was noticing it stuck on H all day. Brand new sim, just got it yesterday for this phone from AT&T...
Just glad to know about airplane mode toggle trick, it works great.
Tried resetting APN's, but didn't help.
I'll call AT&T soon and see if they can fix it permanently on their side ?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
For those on AT&T, who *never* sees LTE, even after airplane mode toggle, will need to contact the carrier and have them provision the line for LTE. The easiest way to do this is to put the SIM into an AT&T-branded LTE phone. This way, the system will "see" that you're using an LTE phone and by the time you call, the agent can simply make the needed provision. You can put the SIM back into the 6p thereafter and LTE will stick, even if AT&T's system does not recognize the IMEI.
*However*, if the airplane mode toggle works to connect to LTE or you have ever seen LTE on your 6p in the past, this is then likely NOT a carrier problem. See this thread. What @slaydog and many others are experiencing is caused by a ROM/radio bug. It is intermittent. There is currently no fix for it and a bug report has been filed with Google. We are hoping that the next patch release fixes the problem.
I ordered my nano SIM from AT&T before I received my 6P. The rep had to look up the SKU of the SIM that works for the 6P so that the correct one was shipped. I had LTE service the moment the phone powered up. I would have AT&T send you a new replacement for the two year old SIM, and make sure you let them kmow that it is for a Huawei Nexus 6P.

I glanced at these but didn't read the whole threads. Pretty sure they address sprint sim card locking post update. It may be worth reading about to see if yours is a similar situation. Good luck man.
I'm kind of in the same boat, essential phone openus variant with no service. I've tried different things and have been able to get it to work but just for some time before it gets no service again or some odd behavior. I don't get invalid sim or no sim notification, it is a no service notification, apparently it recognizes SIM and accepts it but is not able to find a network, as if it were out of coverage or mobile radio off. SIM card has been tested in another essential phone at same location and works flawlessly.
So far I've found that if I downgrade software to nougat and then update to oreo or pie, and then insert SIM, phone is able to get LTE connection, receive or make calls, it works fine. But then after a couple of hours or even half a day, it gets no service again. Network or factory resetting doesn't do anything, changing network settings neither, then after If phone is restarted with sim in or if sim is inserted while on, it immediately shows voicemail notification but there is no way to retrieve it of course.
Most of the times at network settings it gets and shows the correct apn but it doesn't let to choose network manually, it turns back to automatically and says no networks available. Some times I get a rare relation with wifi connection, if wifi is on and connected it shows carrier name as if ti was connected to network but no calls in or out, as soon as wifi is turned off or disconnects, carrier goes back to No Service.
Maybe someone knowing this has some idea of why phone has this strange behavior which makes it useless as a phone.

I think your phone locked for Sprint like mine , call them to unlock it .
mine is unlocked From Sprint now , but i sill need a Sprint Sim to complete the unlock process which i didn't get yet , I don't know where i can get one (I LIVE IN MOROCCO)
I guess it's possible but I really don't think that phone could be locked to sprint. I understand although sprint variant is supposed to be locked, most users are able to use other carrier sim, and only the pie update has shown invalid sim, which is not this case by the way.

Okay, so I am on Verizon and I purchased the OnePlus 6T straight from OnePlus website. I have the 8gb ram and 256gb storage model. I have unlocked the bootloader but haven't installed a custom recovery or rooted yet. Just wanted to unlocked bootloader since it requires a wipe of device storage in case for the future.
Anyways, the phone works amassing, battery life is great, I had a pixel XL before this, screen is fantastic and is plenty fast but I have ran into an issue. The phone was activated on Verizon using Sim 1. Signal is not an issue, always have LTE from Verizon and way better signal than pixel XL ever had.
My issue is I live in a border town with Mexico and I just noticed that when I am close to the border, like within a mile the phone switches to Movistar cell provider. Movistar is a Mexican cell phone provider. Is not that I lost signal because my pixel XL had signal all over there before and the OnePlus 6T is stronger, is just that apparently the Movistar provider has a stronger signal on that area and the phone is choosing to pick up the stronger signal, even if it means going off and switching to roaming.
It doesn't cost me any $$ and speed is wicked fast while roaming but Verizon will only allow 0.5gb of roaming per day which limits the usability of the phone. Anyways, thanks for reading my long post, just wanted to give some context to the question and hopefully find an answer. Like i said, I did search and didn't find anything. If I have to root to install an add-on or an app that lets me pick my signal please advise. Also I know that I still have a strong Verizon signal because I used ltediscovery app to check and it shows the signal strength of whatever many signal phone is picking up.
Thanks in advance for reading and for answers.
One option might be Network Signal Guru in the Play Store (requires root). It's the only app I've found that allows the user to lock the phone to a specific band - which might help with your situation.

Either I do not have that option or I couldn't follow the steps.
When I go to settings, wifi & internet, Sim, sim1 then I see what is on the attached screenshot.
it seems you are missing some options
it should look like this: network operator
try to search for operator or network on the main options screen at the search bar on top.
if still no luck than maybe there is something wrong with your sim card or apn settings. you should try to contact OnePlus support than.

Mine does have network operator anywhere.
I look through all the settings and nowhere to be found. I am on Verizon network and only sim1 has a card in it.
Sim2 is empty.
I can get to the special settings through *#*#4636#*#* and even there changing different LTE settings keeps reconnecting to roaming network since the tower is like a stone through away.
Any other options would be greatly appreciated. Also the app that was suggested in 2nd post, rooted phone to try it and that option if it works is behind pay part and that app fee is $50/m. A bit steep for me so looking for options still.

I could but I only have an option for disabling data roaming, not roaming all together. I tried it in the past and all it did was kept me connected to the roaming network and turned off the data off of the roaming network connection. Meaning I had zero data connectivity.
I wonder if putting a Sim in sim2 slot would open up more settings ?
If anyone is using 6T on Verizon could you please go to wifi & network, sim1 and see if you get any more options than what I posted on previous ss about 3 post ago.
Thanks in advance

you should try another sim (family or friends) and check if the missing option appears. maybe try your sim in another phone too.
lastly you could try a full factory reset (deletes all data)
at the end if it still does not work you really should call OnePlus for help.
also I found this app here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pomo.android.networkoperators
open it and select "available networks"
that should open the missing menu to toggle operator selection...
