Hi all,
Recently and accidentally I deleted all SMS.
I have found several tools to recover them. But all need root and I would like to avoid rooting my device.
Anyone knows any tool that allows me to recover the lost SMS?
Thanks.
The reason that this feature require root is because you are in fact attempting to tamper with the system structure by trying to access parts of the SD which are off-limits to the regular user.
There are some guides online which do not mention root, but they seem to be from the gingerbread era.

Hi. I've recently got an X8, which is my first Android device. As I tend to customize and change everything I can reach (yes, I'm a Linux user , I updated to 2.1, gained root and started to explore the world of Android. Sadly, while editing the default theme, I managed to screw the system up to the point where it won't even boot anymore (although I still could access the shell via adb, but it wouldn't let me push files and I couldn't run su). I had to reinstall 2.1 via SEUS, which caused all of my settings and apps to disappear. I spent some hours to bring them back, and I would like to save the current state to prevent future failures. tl;dr: I'm looking for a way to backup and restore the whole system easily, any suggestions? A step-by-step guide is highly appreciated.
EDIT: I'm sorry, I apparently posted in the wrong forum but realized it too late. Please move to General.
install xrecovery and app2sd
when you mess something go to xrecovery\backup and restore\advanced restore\select your newest backup\restore system
when restore will be over, restart your phone and you will see all your apps and all your data like in setting or save game will not be deleted
after root, just install xrecovery to backup entire system..
or try backup with the default backup & restore app
2.1 system apps
simply download it and install as regular .apk
Hi folks,
I've used the Google Nexus 7 Root Tookit to root my new N7 and made sure to create a backup before doing anything weird and wonderful with my device.
I figured option 1 would be the safest (backup all installed apps), but now after rooting I find that my settings are missing, magazines from zinio need to be downloaded again etc.
So, what have I missed, and how do I make sure that I have a proper backup next time I need to do something?
Thanks!

When you performed Rooting on your device, all user contents got erased. Rooting & unlocking will effectively hard reset your device. That is why you need to re-set up all your apps and settings.
Hi all,
I have had a look around, but surprisingly have not been able to find clear/ up to date information about how I can restore my nexus and all data to a brand new nexus.
This is my question: can I action an Ipad/iphone-esque restore on android/ Nexus 10? I have my original Nexus 10, and have a new one that I want to transfer EVERYTHING to. i.e. create a duplicate. Is this possible? It seems crazy to me that this isn't a built in feature of android. I want this to include:
-Data on my SD card
-Data loaded in applications (e.g. .pdf libraries, photos in keepitsafe, camera photos)
-My folder set up
-Browser history
etc.
(FYI I am running on a mac laptop and 4.2.2 Android).
Thanks in advance!
Titanium Backup Pro could probably do it as long as you are on the same ROM between your two tablets.
I had looked at that app. Would you have a link to an update to date method of rooting nexus 10 with a Mac? All the guides I found where saying I would need to wipe my tablet etc... Would be much appreciated!
You do need to wipe your tablet, when you unlock the bootloader you have to do the wipe for security purposes. It is part of the unlocking process

Actually, you can use superboot to root without unlocking... Then you can use the nexus boot unlocker app from the play store to unlock without losing data...
The superboot OP says you need to be unlocked first... But if you read through the thread, multiple people have rooted without unlocking...
Good luck!
Hello Everyone,
It is my first time posting on this Forum and if I were able to find answers I seek in existing threads, I would've never bother you so please be kind and patient with my noobish question : )
I'd like to use Titanium Backup (or similar program) to make copies of few applications on my phone. I know that it requires a rooted device and I'm prepared to void my warranty, however all guides I've found require to erase the system first and I cannot do it without backing up my applications.
Is there any way to root my device (ASUS_Z010D, ZC550KL on Android 5.0.2) without wiping the system so that Titanium Backup would work? I don't need to flash new ROMs or do any advanced stuff, so maybe rooting via third party application is possible?
Many thanks,
Lee
I have a J3 that I would like to recover media from. I have tried all root methods I can think of and I am also unable to install TWRP. I'm not looking to use the phone after recovery; just want my media. Is there some way I can scan all the memory and recover my files? Info on attachment.
Sorry for the delayed reply. Do you want to recover media files from your samsung phone? If yes, maybe you can ask for help from pro shop or data recovery software like Dr.fone, Coolmuster Lab.Fone for Android, phonerescue, etc. Before that, you need to make sure the data is not overwritten by new data. Good luck to you.
