SM-N900V 4.4.2 Root Issues - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just starting to mess with phones again it has been a while!
Okay so I am having a couple of issues..(Back story) I rooted phone with Towelroot Installed Super SU and BusyBox and everything looks good even used Rooter checker and it says I am fine. I am trying to run Linux Deploy and getting access denied errors when it is trying to write files.
I even went into terminal emulator and I cannot even change the permissions on the files. Also Supersu is asking to grant access so I did..
It's like I am getting a false positive.. Says Supersu is working but I think it may not be for some reason.
Did my root or SuperSU not work?
Also is there an install out there so I can completely wipe the phone and not use Verizon's pos?
Thanks guys!

SU Binary Update

I have seen a lot of people saying they are losing root access if they update SU Binary. I am to assume everyone who has lost their root access did it via some sort of one-click root app. These will only give temporary root access and will break root at the slightest kick in the teeth.
Anyway, I have updated my SU binary, and I still have my root access, I gained root via [GUIDE] How to Root Sprint 2.1 Release for CDMA Hero and I'm S-off. Hope this helps clear up any issues with SU.

I rooted same as you. When I updated binary and was on aosp 0.1.2, I did loose ability to use su like in terminal.
I was able to flash a different recovery with adb so I think it didn't wipe root but something with GB and the super user app didn't work together with the new binary.
I successfully updated binary in froyo. Were you using GB when you updated, and if so, which version?

I was running aospGBmod 0.1.4, updated, then went into root explorer (worked), TE (worked), and TB (worked). I also deleted the old SU that came with the ROM, D/L'd the one from market, then updated. I'll try it again with 0.1.2 and test it out. Also, are you S-off or S-on?

I am S-on.
I just attempted it again using 0.1.4, but I have the same results. Nothing is able to get root rights.
I should've nandroided before trying that. I know better.

Reboot recovery and go back to your last nand, then reboot into whatever rom you were running. Uninstall SU, reinstall from the market, you should be fine then. But I would make a nandroid just to be safe
I attempted to uninstall and reinstall, but it didn't help.
Now that I have updated to 0.1.5, I can upgrade the binary and everything is working as it should.

I am on 2.3.3 and just updated SU Binary. Haven't noticed a problem yet. All previously installed root apps still work, newly installed root apps work as well.
disregard. I am retarded and didn't read what forum this was in.
My phone's still rooted, I used the same method as you.

Apps not recognising Root?

I have a rooted devices, I've been able to flash ROMs Kernels mods etc but when I try to use an app that requires Root access it says I don't have root access. Superuser is installed also.
More Info:
When typing "su" in terminal emulator I get "segmentation fault"
I'm using stock ROM with _motleys Awesome kernel.
Any ideas? Thanks -

download and install supersu from the market, open it, if it says to update the su binaries do it, delete superuser from /system/app/ (using root explorer or something similar), reboot.
Thanks for your fast response. I will try it now.
No luck I get "installation failed !"
heres a flashable version of supersu. flash it in your recovery, then open the app, update binaries.. http://download.chainfire.eu/204/SuperSU/CWM-SuperSU-v0.94.zip
Just rebooting, thanks for all you help so far.
Edit: It worked many thanks.

root and superSU

I was updating superSU on my note 3 after root. I tried to use game killer, only to get the message that root wasn't available. I loaded up superSU and was told that the binary couldn't be found... I downloaded a root checker and it said that root access was there... So I unrooted and re rooted. Same deal.
I'm not sure how to fix the issue.
Can anyone please help

Have you deleted then given Super SU privileges back? I find installing a new rom can sometimes screw with them....

When I first got the phone it had a rom full of provider bloatware. I flashed another stock Roma to get rid of it. Then I flashed xnote and decided OT wasn't for me, so I went back to stock (without bloats)

Delete the apps from SU then when prompted give them permission again - like normal you will need to re-open them again and get the "Grant root access" prompt from SU...This may work, has for me everytime...
Only other thing I would do if this didn't work would be re-stock and start from scratch...

I have already reflashed stock back to my phone, re rooted and the problem still exsists
Currently I'm on stock again (downloaded from sammobile)
Every time I open superSU, it tells me there is a problem with the SU BINARY (when I was rooted. I'm not trying to use super SU unrooted lol)
Just rooted again and its still the same...
Reflash stock, full wipe from stock recovery, reroot.

Yeah, done all of that. Is there a way to manually wipe the SU binary and reinstall? The root checker app says root access is allowed
Is there another way to see if it's the SU binary or game killer having issues?

If you attempts to fix root access denied on game killer then it won't work. Gamekiller/gamecih/gameguardian doesn't work with android 4.3 and above.
I however tried gamecih with cm based rom last week & it worked

OK, so you're saying those kind of apps will no longer work?
What about the SU binary issue?

Its not a superSU issue, guess the dev needs to update the gamekiller app. Do you have root privileges with other root apps?

Try unrooting superSU from the app itself and reflash the latest (1.94 i think) superSU.zip in recovery or with Flashify (if compatible ,Playstore) flash CF Root in downloadmode. Hope that helps.

ES explorer can't get root access either.
Should I flash superSU.zip straight over the top using recovery? Or is that not a good idea?

Replacing KingUser with SuperSU

Hi all, I just want to share this. Regarding to Kinguser cant be replace by SuperSU, I just solve this issue. But, I want to make it clear,
I FOUND THIS METHOD ACCIDENTALLY(by experimenting).
I just got Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos I9082, with home button not functioning. So I cant root it by custom recovery, which made me use Iroot(known as Vroot), 1 click rooting app. It will root using Kinguser binary. Which will give problem to replace it with SuperSU. Then install busybox.
So I reroot my phone using KingO root which will install SuperSU v2.02. I guest this is the point where SuperSU bin get hook in device(I tried installing various ver of SuperSU without success,"Installing Failed". And KingUser give perm to SuperSU using KingO root method.
So I go into SuperSU, install as system, reboot, install custom recovery, install SuperSU.zip thru recovery, reboot, uninstall KingUser(it will warn this will unroot your device back to normal, i just ignore and proceed), and this will erase SuperSU app too, but I guest it leave the binary installed. And again I reinstall SuperSu in normal way, with success.
And again, I'm not telling the best solution, just want to share what I've done. Hope this will help someone.
Good Day
I try to replace King User with the Terminal Emulator Method, and King User gone, but it unroot mi device
I have a Samsung i8200L.
After, I re-root my device (now with Kingo Root, thanks for mention it in your thread), and everything is ok, with SuperSU

Easiest method that worked for me!
Use es file explorer
change permision to /system/bin to rw, tick all
run updated supersu, it will ask to update su binary, use the normal option
Kinguser will ask permission from SuperSu, DENY!
Then you can successfully remove kinguser

I'm assuming you used SSU 2.49? As Chainfire said, he made this mostly for lollipop comparability, also for Kinguser replacements issues.
And thanks for sharing the workaround you've figured.

Hope this will work
Worked on Galaxy S3 NEO ( GT-I9300I ) Android 4.4.4
The Steps that worked for me are as follows:
Start from HERE
1. Same steps untill SuperSu installed
2. When SuperSu launched itself (or you can launch it manually ) , it
will ask to update SU Binary, Click Normal.
3. Wait until SuperSu says other user management app detected (in my
case) and will ask you to remove it. Click cancel ( very important ).
4. When you Click Cancel, it will say Binary updated Successfully. And
will ask you to Reboot or OK. Click OK ( very important ) and not to
Reboot.
5. Now SuperSu will open normally but KingUser app will still be present
( in my case).
6. Now go to Settings in SuperSu App and Go to Clean Up options and
there you will find an option to remove other User Managemnt apps, just
click the option and Boom SuperSu will remove it completely from your
System.
Hope this will work for someone else also.
2nd Method:
Just simply install SuperSu from Play Store and follow the above steps
from Number 2 onwards. (Confirm if it works for you)

There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it

Greetings Folks!!!
I am on CM12.1 Lollipop 5.1.1 Nightly, and ROOT access was working fine on my phone so far. When I launched Thunderzap today, I noticed that the app was waiting on "Requesting ROOT Privileges" for over 2 mins, and also the SuperSU app was missing from the app drawer. Thunderzap had been recently updated, and I suspect that might have triggered the root access to be requested again, but it wasn't given root access for some reason, and I never got a prompt to grant it root access. However, my other apps like ROOT Explorer, Shell Terminal Emulator etc, which weren't updated off lately, worked fine with root access. Not sure why now, but I thought reinstalling SuperSU-v2.46 might be a good idea at that time, and I flashed that file. And ever since I have completely lost my root access. When I launch the SuperSU app now, i get an error saying:- "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it"
Some help would be appreciated. Screenshots attached.
I've managed to fix the issue. I just re-flashed the CM-Update file (located in the pone's internal memory), and got some ROOT access prompt while trying to open Thunderzap again. Thereafter, I installed SuperSU from the Playstore and got my binary updated through it. :good:
