I have a rooted Verizon LG G2 (VS 980) that I would like to put stock firmware on. I dont want Verizon's version because I dont like the way they tampered with a few of the apps. I've seen the posts about going back to stock but they all seem to point you to use your carrier's version. Does anyone know where I can find the method to use LG's stock G2 firmware?

Hello,[emoji4] , you can't use no other version of your device, but the Verizon Variant, because if you do so, you'll brick your device because the International Unlocked model and the Verizon Model is different, and even if you did(I don't recommend) install the International Unlocked Model, you'll still need Verizon's Sim Card, and once you've inserted the Sim Card, the Carrier will still install its Bloatware.

Quickly looked in the Verizon section of the forum and the "[ROM] XDABBEB's VS98024A v1.2.1" seems to be the most popular de-branded option which is non CM based. The cook removed the 3rd party apps, so most likely the Verizon bloat is gone. See the thread here and good luck.

Is there any way to get the stock messaging app (unmodified by Verizon) or another carrier messaging app to my device? I've tried many of them I've found online and can't get one to work?

Just got my LG G2 (VZW edition) in the mail today (upgrading from the Galaxy Nexus w/ VanirAOSP)...
I've read on some other threads that if you root the VZW LG G2 your warranty will be void because they implemented some software feature into the phone. Is it confirmed that if you format it back to stock, they won't notice it's been rooted?
Thanks in advance!

in the settings menu on the phone, it will show rooted. it you flash back to stock with a computer that will go back to unrooted. in the download mode though, it will always show rooted, but its highly doubtful that a verizon rep would know how to look at that.
Yes, it does show when you root your phone but there's a guide here that'll clear that and get you back to stock. I'd consider it a non-issue.

Alright, thanks for clearing the air for me so quickly! I've decided that I'm going to try out that Malladus ROM that everyone's talking about.
does the T-Mobile variant of the LG G2 show that the phone is rooted like the Verizon variant does?
I am currently using an unlocked rooted (stock recovery) Bell Version of the D803 (D803B20e software version) on the Rogers network. If I want to convert my phone to a Rogers version of the ROM (no Rogers bloat needed), can I just modify my build.prop or do I need to download the Rogers version of the ROM and flash it using LGMOBILEAX?
Reasoning is I would like to be able to download the knock code unlock feature which Rogers is rolling out just now.
Thanks
So it doesn't work like that, there's differences to each phone performed by the telephone companies (mostly for which radio bands the phone can use). Anyway the knock on and off feature can be supported by any phone. One way is to install something like Xposed and then using a feature enhancing tool like Gravity box (you can find it on the forum). The other option is installing a ROM that has this feature in it. Quite a few do (such as SlimKat)

Thanks for the reply. I was under the impression all Canadian D803s had the exact same ROM with the exception of the build.prop which makes them appear as different phones, and respective bloatware. Am I wrong in this then?
I would prefer to keep the stock ROM, and I have Xposed installed. I will check and see if there is a knock code feature in any of the G2 Xposed modules in the mean time.
Thanks

So, no one has an idea of if and how a Canadian Bell D803 can be conveted to a Canadian Rogers D803?

Ohh I'm not sure on that specific model or Canadian phones in general, entirely possible you're right. Still though it sounds like a risky change, if information isn't readily available I personally wouldn't do it. Straight software options should be far safer. Anyway good luck!

Ive been cleared by a verizon employee to root my phone, sense its a local branch i'll still have my warrenty with them. The particular rom I wanted was X-note, but could only find it for att&t and tmobile models. If this has already been answered please point me to the right direction!

On the Verizon Retail version, you can only run Touchwiz ROMs found in this Android Development section (that function with Hashcode's SafeStrap). If you want to run a ROM from anything else, you will need a Verizon Developer Edition, with an unlockable bootloader.

Wow, thats unfortunate So in a nut shell Im unable to run Cyanogenmod11 and x-note?
Does that just leave me with the roms listed under my Model and roms tab?
Is the only way to flash a rom on my phone through a sd card? Im not worried about tripping nox so thats not a problem. I just didnt want to fill my sd card up with misc files..

Yes, only Verizon Touchwiz based ROMs that work with Safestrap.
Can any custom ROM be installed on a s4 that us been upgraded to the latest firmware? I know at one time it couldn't be updated past the current version that was out for the phone. I'm looking at trading my nexus 5 for an s4 or another phone with expandable storage and better battery life but I like custom ROMs so much more. Can anyone shine a light on this for me?

Which model S4 do you have/what carrier? Not all of them run all custom ROMs. If you have an AT&T i337 then you can only use Touchwiz ROMs and three specific Google Phone Edition ROMs. No CM,PA,AOKP, anything of the sort.

I'm on At&t networks so I was looking at the at&t variant but since I can only use certain ROMs I'll think I'll look in other directions. Thanks!
What about t mobile variant? And I had a note 2 one time and I remember that you can sim unlock it from a special settings menu. Is this true for the s4 as well? Thanks!

T-Mobile S4 can be flashed with any ROM and is unlockable. I know some people around here are doing the same thing, using a T-Mobile S4 on AT&T.
Wondering if any one can suggest a custom rom that will work with a LG G2 Sprint ls980 on Boost mobile? I am rooted on the ZVI update and think Autorec will work but don't see the point unless I can flash a rom for this phone that won't screw it up and put it on Sprint's info or bootloop/brick etc.. I haven't seen much of any one mentioning roms for a LG G2 Sprint ls980 on Boost mobile.
if theres is any it will be listed.. click on my signature where it says here it has all roms there plus many helpful guides..
All ROM for Sprint works for Boost Mobile too.

Yeah, but does it mess with the network settings (since the ROM is for Sprint)? I've read somewhere that it did but can't find it now.

As far as I know, you can't provision your MSL after installed any 3rd party ROM such as CM12. Instead, you can provision your device with the stock ROM and then install the 3rd party ROM. You don't need to set up anything again.

So..since I've already had the phone switch to boost from sprint via the boost rep and have been running stock...loading a new ROM should keep my network settings etc the same?
